Reliability signal

7 confirmed failure reports · Early signal · Data confidence: Low

Early signal (7 confirmed reports) suggests shorter ownership before failure (typical 13.5 mo), but that is not enough data for a D or F grade.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20171204-D5DFB-2147394840. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Cuisinart DFP-14BCN. Source model text: DFP-14cny #60706cs. Incident: The blade on my Cuisinart model DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup #60706cs comes detached from the stem when slicing. The blade comes to the top of the lid and has gouged out the top from hitting the lid. If I wasn't quick to stop the machine the bade could crack the top. I have been in communication with Cuisinart several times. The machine has been sent back twice and the problem is still not fixed. Cuisinart has issued a call tag for the third time I will be sending the machine back to them. I have asked for a refund. I do believe that there is no current fix for this machine. It appears to be an issue with the stem and blade not keeping contact. I have owned another Cuisinart food processor that was 35 years old with no difficulty. [REDACTED]

Incident: On 12/20/21, via Amazon.com we bought a Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor. Since then, two s-blades have cracked, one today, the other about four months ago. We learned that you previously recalled other Cuisinart s-blades and we are concerned the problem is occurring again.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180301-42198-2147392532. Matched catalog product: Cuisinart DFP-14BCN. Source model text: Model DFP 14BCN Type 33. Incident: Cuisinart Food processor 14 cup. Metal pieces of the S blade is gone, cracked at the rivets on the blade housing. Not sure where the metal pieces are. Replaced the blade immediately, at my expense. That replacement blade did the exact same thing. Looked up the product on line, and saw there was a recall on the blade. Cuisinart sent me a replacement blade, which they said was re-engineered. However, now the new re-engineered blade doesn't fit the machine.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120731-087E9-2147465193. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Cuisinart DFP-14BCN. Source model text: DFP-14. Incident: The standard blade for a 14 cup Cuisinart Food Processor (blade # DLC-001TX) has a critical failure that could be extremely dangerous. My blade just lost a small piece around the mounting rivets and was cracked through at all the rivets. Luckily I found the small piece of steel before it got into any food. While ordering a replacement blade on Amazon.com, I was horrified to read that this is not a new occurance. Many people have had the blades crack, some people have eaten the metal parts, and in some cases, the blades fly apart during use, exiting the machine. I suggest you look at the customer comments at this link. http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DLC-001TX-stainless-steel-blade/dp/B000TEPM6O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1343747489&sr=8-5&keywords=cuisinart+blade someone has even posted a picture of a completely broken blade. According to the online discussion, Cuisinart has not responded to complaints about this product flaw. I personally did not try to contact them.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170315-A15EA-2147405182. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Cuisinart DFP-14BCN. Incident: Cusinart DFP-14BCN (type 33). I received the replacement blade. But I still have a problem. We put the Workbowl Cover (lid) on (using the slicing disk). The lid closed tightly. We used the plusher to feed celery into the top hole and that's when the problem occurred. The plunger hit the slicing blade and the plunger was mangled. The bowl is slightly cracked at the base. The lid is cracked. If the slicing disc or the lid were not on properly, the machine should not have been operable. I would like replacement parts for (1) Workbowl Cover, (2) Pusher and (3) Bowl.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250107-3D387-2147334082. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Cuisinart DFP-14BCN (Cuisinart 14-Cup Food Processor (Model DFP-14BCN)). Incident: I would like to report a serious and dangerous small appliance malfunction that occurred with a Cuisinart 14-Cup Food Processor (Model DFP-14BCN). We purchased this food processor just under 6 years ago. On average, we use it once every other week. We have had no problems with it in the past. The appliance sits on a marble countertop with plenty of space around it. It was plugged in as usual, but it was clearly turned off at the time of the malfunction. It had last been used 24 hours prior. During the afternoon of January 6, 2025, the food processor suddenly turned on. The blade spinning noise was heard by multiple people in the house who went to the kitchen to investigate. A few seconds later, the appliance started to emit heavy gray smoke and the scent of burning plastic. We quickly unplugged it and placed it outside in the snow. While moving the appliance outside, it was noted that the underside metal components were glowing red and sparking. Afterwards, we checked the standard electrical socket that the appliance was plugged into in the kitchen wall and found no damage or abnormalities. There was no lightning outside or any other obvious external cause. No other electrical devices in the house were affected, and no house circuit breakers tripped. To be frank, if we had not been home at the time, this event could have easily started a house fire. Luckily there were no injuries.
