SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120925-D2BC6-2147463434. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Hoover UH70120. Source model text: Model UH70120. Incident: Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaners with Cord Rewind Feature - I purchased in 2010 for $120.00 at Target. I have been getting a very hot cord while using. The rewind feature for the cords jams and failes to lock as well! It is splitting the coating on now 2 areas of the cord exposing wire! The vacuum is now too dangerous to use because of the exposed wiring and hot cord may cause fire, burn or electrocution!! Model UH70120, MFG CODE:C10A

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130918-767D8-1355634. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: Hoover UH70120. Incident: I turned on my Hoover WindTunnel T series vacuum (model UH70120, Mfg Code E13A, Series BE12.0). I started to smell burning oil and plastic (I guess), then noticed there was a trail of black debris that had fallen out of the vacuum. I turned it off. I checked the belt located at the bottom of the vacuum, it was ok. I was going to throw it away but Hoover wants it back (I had emailed them after it happened). This is the second vacuum of this series that I have gotten from them. The first one tripped my circuit breaker. I contacted them about that vacuum, they said it was my circuit breaker, I had my circuit breaker replaced and the vacuum still tripped it. Then they said to send that vacuum back to them and they would replace it. They did the the first mentioned vacuum. Same series. I can get the serial number for the original vacuum if you need it.

Incident: My son (17 year old) was vacuuming this afternoon when the unit started to "smell like fire". He unplugged it and it burned his hand. I called Hoover and they said this unit was NOT recalled but many of the same model are with the same issue. This model needs to be added to that list immediately!

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160126-6DC99-2147424301. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Hoover UH70120. Incident: I have a Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Bagless vacuum cleaner with Model# UH70120 and MFG. Code# J13A. In this vacuum cleaner any cord left inside heats up very quickly and recently while using the vacuum the wire left inside became very hot and a small portion of the cord melted. This is very dangerous as it can lead to fire or electric shock. I request Hoover to look into this issue and fix it.
