SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20151230-0EBE1-2147425304. Matched catalog product: LG LDG4315st. Incident: This range came as part of a set with an over-the-range microwave. The safety issue arises with the placement of the burner knobs on the front of the range. They are positioned such that they are easily turned on when reaching above the range into the microwave, or into the cabinets above the microwave. Sometime the burner goes on, and sometimes the burner doesn't light and the gas goes on without a flame. Either case can lead to serious consequences.

I have turned on this stove many times by just bumping the knobs. This has caused the gas to be turned on without knowing. It has also started a fire because I turned on the stove with my hip while cleaning he stove and the towel caught fire.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250206-8BAE5-2147333412. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LDG4315st. Incident: The LG Range LDG4315ST has no safety feature to ensure that there is an active flame once the gas valve for a range top burner after the gas supply is activated and the control knobs are very easy to bump by accident by clothing or by pets etc bumping or walking across the controls. If this happens the gas will flow unchecked leading to unsafe air or worst case gas explosions. We have bumped the knobs several times and had a pet walk across and turn on the gas supply with no flame. Similar electric stoves from LG have now been recalled for similar knob activation issues, but with electric stoves most of the dangers can be avoided by not leaving anything on the stove. This is not the case for a gas stove where hazard is not excess heat, up until the point there is an explosion. We now always remove the knobs when a burner is not in use.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170516-9E356-2147400461. Matched catalog product: LG LDG4315st. Incident: There is a serious design/safety flaw in the burner knob assembly on the front of the LG Stainless Steel Freestanding Double Gas Range - LDG4315ST. With minimal pressure, the knob can be turned unintentionally. Sometimes the burner ignites, while other times gas flows without igniting. During my first week of use, this happened numerous times, particularly when reaching over the stove top to wipe down rear display. This stove presents a major risk of burn injury or fire. LG must develop a fix and issue a recall to prevent injuries to consumers.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20161219-69B9E-2147409135. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: LG LDG4315st. Incident: Knobs for the range on brand new LG do not work properly; the safety lock only works if you're turning them from the top (safety lock requiring you to depress the knobs). From the sides of the knobs, ie the front of the range, they will turn with trivial contact. Several times I've come into the kitchen to find it smelling of gas, and the oven hasn't even been in for a month. Today, something was actually lit on fire, causing thousands in damage to my kitchen - which I literally just had redone (floors were put in 2 weeks ago, cabinets were just finished installed yesterday, etc). The casual contact with the knobs occurs when someone is using the over-the-range microwave directly above the range, like many decent kitchens have.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170718-01E43-2147398865. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LDG4315st. Incident: This happens at least every other day. I have an LG model LDG4315ST gas range. The knobs for the burners sit at a 45-degree angle right on the front. When cooking or just working around the stove, it is very easy to bump the knobs with my belly and turn them on. Sometimes they'll light, and more than once this has been a real hazard. (I lit my bathrobe sleeve on fire once.) Sometimes they'll turn past the electric starter without lighting. That happened once and I didn't notice and I left the house for a couple hours. I came home to a house full of gas. I shut off the burner and I opened all the windows and left for a while. I believe that a protective bar should be available so that the knobs are not easily turned on. A VERY real hazard.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20191218-E344B-2147375952. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LDG4315st (LG Range, model LDG4325ST, Double oven free standing range.). Incident: When you brush against the stove knobs they can turn on with out you knowing This has been happening since we purchased the stove in 2016. ON 12/11/19 my wife was in the kitchen and while reaching in the cabinet above the stove bumped the range knob and turned on the gas. I walked in to the living room and smelled gas and went in to kitchen to see what the problem was as we had a fire burning in the fireplace. My wife told me what had happened and she turned of the burner knob. In contacting LG, they state they have not had complaints about this issue even though a year ago I contacted LG and the phone tech stated he had the same stove and the same problem. I looking at many reviews on the Home Depot web site on this stove, this seems to be a major problem as there are many reviews stating they have the same issue. It is just my wife and myself that live in the house so we tried to be careful even though we have brushed against the knob a number of times and had them turn on. I guess having gas in the house and a fire in the fireplace was a wake up call. In some of the reviews, people actually remove the stove knobs when grandchildren visit. I would call this a serious safety concern. I have left a review on the Home Depot site to add to the others with the same issue. This product needs to be recalled before someone dies. My stove is an LG model LDG4315ST, serial number: 605KMCB02915.
