Reliability signal

8 confirmed failure reports · Early signal · Data confidence: Low

Early signal (8 confirmed reports) suggests shorter ownership before failure (typical 14 mo), but that is not enough data for a D or F grade.

Gas Ranges or Ovens (279)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220908-37E4C-2147353966. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool WFG320M0BS3. Incident: Exploding outer glass on oven door- Used oven to roast veggies at 425 F for 20 minutes and then removed items and turned off oven. About 30 minutes later, opened door to put baking pans back in for storage. Door was opened to about a 45 degree when it felt like the door handle pulled out of the door slightly and the glass shattered and projected out, forcefully, towards the floor. While on the floor, the glass continued to "pop" and fracture into smaller pieces which were being projected around the kitchen for about 20 minutes. I received several very small cuts on my hands, from where they were holding the oven handle, but had sneakers and pants on and avoided more serious injury. My two small dogs were lying on the floor a few feet away and were covered in glass shards during this incident. While cleaning up the glass, I noted, that, in addition to appropriate safety glass-sized "crumbles" there was a fine glass powder and a ton of tiny shards and slivers. While conducting a kitchen rescue mission of the dogs, tiny particles of glass got into the skin on my hands and are causing irritation. Oven and had previously been in good condition with no prior assassination attempts.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190113-BAC47-2147383284. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool WFG320M0BS3. Incident: The tempered glass panel on our oven range shattered while the oven was operating. We were baking cookies at 350 degrees when the handle of the oven door broke loose on 1 side. A couple of minutes later as we tried to open the door we heard an explosive "boom" noise and the glass shattered and blew out. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The entire front glass panel on the oven door was destroyed, but not the inside glass panel of the door. We turned off the oven and waited a few minutes for everything to cool down, and we cleaned up the glass. The oven was only 6 months old.

Gas Ranges or Ovens (279)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20181009-8EF99-2147385096. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool WFG320M0BS3. Incident: Our Whirlpool gas range came with our home. We purchased it this year, brand new. I was cooking dinner with our oven set to 375 degrees. My son walked by the oven (he is two) and patted the door. He normally walks by, and touches things either saying hot or cold. This time he screamed. So I touched the glass myself. It was extremely hot. I couldnt leave my hand there for more than a second. I immediately contacted our contractor who referred me to whirlpool. Whirlpool sent a contractor out today, and according to him, after only having the oven for maybe 15 minutes, its normal. He states our door only got 135 degrees which is well below the UL standard of 180 degrees. He did not leave the oven long enough because when I felt the door of the temperature he got it too, it was no where near as hot as when my son and I burned our hands. This is clearly dangerous and many people have reported this issue before with this model. Some ovens heat up, while others dont, so clearly some are defective and whirlpool is doing nothing about it! My brother in law also has this oven, turned it up to 400 and his door stayed cool to warm. He said he could leave his hand sitting on the door no problem.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 16, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230115-5D06B-2147351391. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: Whirlpool WFG320M0BS3 (Whirlpool gas range oven WFG320M0BS3 oven door W11176456). Incident: on 12/24/22we opened the oven of our Whirlpool gas range and the handle pulled off and the outerglass cracked in a thousand pieces in front of our 20 holiday guests. We were not severely injured, just cuts from clean up luckily. on 5/21/21 the same gas range had a fire in it the first month when we opened the oven and the grates wobbled severely causing a grease fire. Whirlpool serviced the oven and said it was safe and the grates weren't installed properly the previous month by the installers. Luckily the fire flames didn't reach us and it did go out. We have never had an appliance dangerous like this one is and Whirlpool is not replacing it, although less than 2 years old and the broken glass door is backordered for months showing there is a wider issue with it. It doesnt seem that this gas range with 2 glasses to the door, inner and outer vs the self cleaning heavy door style is safe for consumers
