Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231030-92E8A-2147344299. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool WGG745S0FS. Source model text: WGG745S0FS02. Incident: I was making dinner with a Whirlpool gas oven/range. When i finished i turned the oven off. When i came back a few minutes later the oven was very hot and there was a warning that the oven was overheating on the display. I kept trying to turn the oven off and it would not stop the gas from firing. I had to run to the breaker to turn the power off to the kitchen to get it to stop so that it could cool down enough that i could unplug it and turn the gas off.

Incident: My carbon Monoxide dector began to alarm so the fire department was sent to my home by my [REDACTED] service representative said firemen detected a reading of 28 and began a search to find the source and discovered that the element(s) on my Whirlpool Gold Series double oven gas range was the source stating that the elements were the reason and promptly disconnected the stove from the gas line At the time of the incident I has just finished making some jam and both the front burners were being used one element to cook the fruit and the other to heat the water for processing. The alarm sounding prevented what could have been a contrastrophy from happenine. I could have lost my life had that alarm not alerted me to an issue.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170221-71AE5-2147406881. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool WGG745S0FS. Incident: We purchased a new Whirlpool Double Oven Range two weeks ago. Within the first few days we found numerous occasions where the knob on the stove was partially turned to the left letting gas escape into the Kitchen. One one evening the smell was very strong when we walked into the kitchen. After several moments we realized that it was coming from the stove. We had to turn on the ceiling fan to help dissipate the fumes. We know that, on some occasions, one of us apparently brushed up against the knob causing it to turn on. We do not know what happened the evening the entire kitchen filled with fumes. This is obviously a defect in the product as we have had a stove in this same position for the past 35 years without a single incident.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 18, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20181029-39525-2147384763. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Whirlpool WGG745S0FS (Whirlpool WGG745S0FS -- 30 Inch Freestanding Gas Range). Incident: Smell of Natural Gas in the building. 911 called. Using gas detecting equipment the firefighters isolated the source of the gas odor to a condo unit that had a knob for one of the kitchen stove burners that was slightly moved from it's off position. We have 31 residential units in our complex. Several other residents have experienced the large knobs on their stoves getting bumped while cleaning the stove or using the microwave above the stove and the knob inadvertently being turned on slightly to a point before the igniter spark starts and resulting in gas flowing. This is a extremely hazardous product defect and this product should be recalled immediately before a serious injury or death event occurs.
