I received a notice March 14th of 2024 indicating that the side curtain airbag on my charger may fail and cause shrapnel to go into the passenger and driver's area and possibly causing injury. To date I have not heard a word and every time I check up on this recall it says that no remedy is available. I have made repeated calls and emails to Dodge FCA in regards to this and I have never received a response. This is getting quite annoying since my wife rides in my car with me and if the airbag fails the potential for an accident or injury is great. I don't know where else to turn other than you to try and get this remedied. Friends have told me that parts are available but when I go on the Dodge owners app it says nothing is available. I need to get this fixed for peace of mind. My phone number and email is listed at the bottom. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11722901

Vehicle: Dodge Charger GT Recall: SABIC Side Airbag Inflator Replacement Dealer: ourisman chrysler dodge jeep ram of clarksville, maryland Date of Recall Repair: feb 27, 2026 Complaint Description: After the dealer performed the SABIC inflator recall on my Dodge Charger GT, the vehicle immediately developed new electrical failures that were not present before the repair. As soon as I picked up the car, the interior dome/map lights stopped working, and the right‑side exterior front lighting also failed. These failures occurred directly after the recall repair, indicating the dealer likely damaged or disconnected wiring inside the A‑pillar/B‑pillar or roof harness while accessing the inflator. This creates a safety hazard, especially at night, because the right exterior lighting is inoperative and interior lighting does not function. The dealer has not acknowledged responsibility, and the vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe condition after a federally mandated recall repair.

AIR BAGS

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11614203

The airbags failed to deploy upon impact and after impact. The vehicle is located in insurance agencies' salvage yard. Others safety and my safety was put at risk because the airbags in my vehicle not deploying caused me to smack my head on something in the vehicle and I abstained a contusion to my head and a concussion I was disoriented and blacked out at some point. The other person in the vehicle abstained injuries to their leg. Had we of not been wearing our seatbelts we would have been ejected from the vehicle. We could have lost our life's due to the air bags not deploying. I don't know if the problem has been reproduced by anyone. The vehicle was inspected by police and the insurance agency. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I just found out that there was a recall put on the vehicle for air bags releasing shrapnel when deployed NHTSA recall number 24v-198; but the airbags in this vehicle never even deployed upon collision. So, there is obviously worse issues than shrapnel being ejected from them because they didn't even deploy.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

77 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11708098

- Crack at base of gas tank where fill tube attached causing fuel vapors around the car and a possible fuel leak. - Yes by independent service center. -White residue was built up around the crack in the fill tube. Independent service center confirmed the cause as - "Found plastic fuel tank leaking around the filler nipple that is plastic welded in. Also, the auxiliary pump has a dark spot like it may be sleeping as well. Need to replace the fuel tank and would recommend replacing the fuel pumps as a precaution." Final repair charge was $4437.03. Independent service center replace fuel tank and fuel pumps with Mopar parts from the closest Dodge dealer. In review with the service center they stated that fuel was dripping onto the heat shield above the exhaust and could have caused a fire. - No other agencies inspected the issue or repair. Attached a copy of the invoice and two pictures of the worn/cracked fuel tank. - No warning lights, just the smell of gasoline in my garage about 5 weeks ago. The smell would be the strongest when the tank was full but when below half tank the smell was not present.

Brake system failure

SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11364007

I purchased a new 2019 Dodge Charger scatpack. It was purchased as a leisure car for weekend use. I've had the vehicle for a year and a half and has 13000 miles. The vehicle began to shimmy from the front brakes. The front vibration began very light but has continued to increase. At first I believe that it was probably caused by the fact that it was not driven to often and there was probably a rust buildup of some kind. However, in researching the internet it appears to be a common problem with this vehicle. The dealership labeled the problem as a wear and tear issue and for that reason it would be my responsibility to fix it. I strongly believe that this is a poor designed problem that the manufacturer is refusing to recognize. I've owned many cars in my 58 year's of life and I know that a break issue unfortunately takes loss of life before it's addressed by the authorities and or manufacturer's. I'm hoping that these issue is addressed as I've found throughout my research that it's a common problem with this vehicle and it comes with other problems like brake failure also. The brakes are manufactured by brembo brake who has also refused to acknowledge a posible problem with the brakes.

Powertrain / transmission failure

POWER TRAIN

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11325761

The vehicle was traveling 60 MPH on a highway when I got a message on my dash screen saying 'service shifter'. It disappeared after about 3 seconds. Nothing appeared again. The car was acting fine. Two days later the car unlocked by the remote and then would not start. The shifter knob flashed red multiple times repeatedly. I couldn't lock the door or the car would automatically unlock all doors as if I had the key fob inside still. I could not start the car, turn on accessories or shift into any gear. I had power to my lights ETC. My remote wouldn't work for locking or unlocking or remote start anymore. I was able to eventually start the car after unhooking the battery cable and reattaching it. Tried to drive the car and while in drive going down the road on a public street it automatically slammed the car into park even though the shifter had not been moved. It started acting like the car was in park when I had been driving. The shifter once again started flashing red multiples times repeatedly and I could move the shifter this time, but it did not register with the car. It still acted as if it was in park. I was able to reset the system temporarily by unhooking the battery and reattaching it again to get it home.

Structure / body failure

STRUCTURE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11701038

The interior door panel on my 2019 Dodge Charger began to separate/warp from the door frame on the Front drivers and Front Passengers door panels. The vehicle had approximately 32000 miles when the issue started. The plastic trim piece is lifting and peeling away from the door next to the window sill, creating a sharp edge and a gap. This separation is causing the door lock mechanism to bind and become difficult to operate. The window operation is also negatively affected, as the glass rubs against the warped panel. I have also had to replace the window motor a little over a year ago and it is again starting to fail. AJ Dohmann now Geaux Dodge in Plaquamian Louisiana replaced this. This defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety because it could impede egress from the vehicle in an emergency due to the malfunctioning door lock. It may also compromise the integrity of the side curtain airbag deployment area. I contacted the manufacturer/dealer on 02/2020, and they indicated this is a known issue but not a safety recall, so they refused to cover the repair under warranty. The issue has reoccurred/worsened and is present on multiple doors. There were no injuries or a crash as a result of this issue. Photos of the defect are attached to this complaint.

Electrical system failure

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

34 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11466220

The vehicles first issue I had was about a month of owning the vehicle , with the Uconnect infotainment system not wanting to turn off or on and being frozen with only showing a still image of the back camera. I fixed it after I disconnected the battery for about 2 minutes. Then I had a transmission problem which needed servicing not even a year into owning the vehicle. I had to go to the service center to have part replaced, took about a month to get replaced due to back order. Then in June of 2021 the car wouldn't go in reverse or drive. As if the emergency brake was on and wouldn't budge. Had to tow the car to the dealership and leave overnight. When the car was dropped off at the dealership it had to be shaken off the tow bed. Was called to come pick the care up the next day because "no issues were found and car is functioning properly". Now in April of 2022 the steering wheel makes a grinding sound as if it's chewing rocks inside. When it was taken to the dealership was advised the steering column would need to be replaced and the part would be available in the first week of May. When I called to follow up, they advised it would be in May 12th. I called to confirm if that was true and was told the part would now come May 26th. Called again and part won't be available until June 9th. When making turns in vehicle steering wheel sticks and power steering is disabled. feels like I'm going to crash or flip the vehicle.

SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11302276

I have the 2019 Dodge scat pack, base Model, no options. It comes with the 4-PISTON brembo calipers on the rear wheels. The factory brake pad only contacts a little over half of the rotor. This is on both rear wheels, inside and outside surface. This easily reduces braking force by half; much more when the car is fully loaded. The pads do not look damaged, just an obvious defect (see pictures compared to replacement pad). Other Dodge scat packs report similar defects. I contacted brembo back in December, and after multiple contacts, nothing to this day (even though initially they said they'd contact me back in a few days since this looked unusual). I contacted fca, and they had no clue about this, so I visited my local palmen Dodge, racine, wi. The parts manager said he'd never seen this before either. When we looked up replacement pads, they were "normal" looking, like the one next to the stock pad that came with the car. Unfortunately, this is wearing a wide groove in the rotor, which will then have to be replaced. The dealer confirmed that I'd have to buy it myself since wear items are not covered. I have changed this pad type many times, since 2009, and have never seen a pad cut back like this. I am worried that if I have to stop quickly, I will not get full braking in the rear since the pads are only covering part of it. Secondly, I will have to buy two new rear rotors, and pads, to get the full stopping power that the manufacturer intended. *Ln*jb

AIR BAGS

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11657947

We purchased our vehicle from Big Star Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, located at 15711 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. We drove 3 hours to buy this car, and at no point did the salesperson disclose the open Takata side airbag recall during the sale process. After the sale, we met with the finance director, Chris Schnooberger, who handled our payment and paperwork. He also failed to inform us of the airbag recall or the serious safety risks it posed. Our conversation in his office was recorded on their in-house camera system, per dealership policy. Once we returned home, we discovered the airbag recall through the NHTSA website and were shocked to learn how dangerous it was. We were terrified to even drive the car knowing a faulty inflator could potentially send metal fragments into the cabin. We had the airbags replaced at a Dodge dealership in Austin on or around April 29. We purchased the vehicle on [XXX]. I still have the pictures of the Carfax detailing the recall. When we called Chris to express our concern, he downplayed the situation, claiming the recall was not serious and didn’t need to be fixed. His tone and evasive answers felt dismissive and dishonest. My family and I feel cheated and manipulated. There was no transparency at the point of sale, and we believe this is a serious violation of consumer safety disclosure standards. We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this dealership’s handling of recalls and safety notices to protect future buyers.
