SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20171109-81D7A-2147395590. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire EFMIS175-BLACK. Incident: The glass heat shield on the front of the oven shattered explosively outward. The oven was not on at the time, but the broiler function had been used recently (within the past 30 minutes). The glass pieces flew up on to the countertop and across the kitchen. It was safety glass, so there were no sharp edges, but if anyone had been directly in front of the oven, the force of the glass could have injured their eyes or face.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260720-3C9A4-2147313660. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire EFMIS175-BLACK. Incident: The outer glass on the oven door of our electric range Frigidaire glass top burst and shattered spontaneously while I was making cookies. The temperature was 350 and wasnt on for more than 30-45 minutes. I was standing next to it but didnt bump it, my small child was behind me playing with our dog. I got cut on my foot a couple times from the tiny glass pieces as it burst outwardly. Luckily no one else was hurt and I kept them away while cleaning it, but it was very startling to hear it and see the glass everywhere.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200427-147BD-2147372678. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire EFMIS175-BLACK. Incident: I have a Frigidaire electric smooth top range. The control knobs are mounted at approx. a 45-degree angle on the leading edge of the range and equally spaced over the oven door. They are easy to accidentally activate if leaning over the range to reach something in the cabinets above. This has happened numerous times. Today a friend was visiting and leaned back against the range and turned the knob to high without being aware of the occurrence. It melted the microwave cover lid that was sitting on top. This is a definite fire hazard.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130117-DEE5B-2147459754. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire EFMIS175-BLACK. Incident: While using my oven on 375 degrees baking cookies on the first incident and corn bread on the second incident, the oven switched over by itself from bottom coil(Oven) heating to Broiler(Top coil) heating and burnt the cookies up and the corn bread up. With baking the cookies, I had already baked one sheet of cookies and removed them and placed the second sheet in the oven and closed the door. While I was removing the first batch in a separate room, I smelled something burning and saw that the broil was on and the cookies burnt to a crisp. It scared me so bad. That happened probably around November of 2012. Then a couple of weeks later I was cooking corn bread and the same thing happened. The oven switched from bake to broil by itself. I have to carefully watch anything I bake now. I have probably used the broil only 3 times since we bought it new in 2007 when our house was built.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250904-117A2-2147328098. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire EFMIS175-BLACK (I purchased the Frigidaire 9-can beverage cooler (EFMIS222-BLACK) from Sam's Club in February of last year. The product label on the listing says that it's model # EFMIS175-BLACK, but the manufacturer says that it is actually EFMIS222-BLACK.). Incident: My son had the Frigidaire 9-can beverage cooler (model EFMIS222-BLACK) that I purchased from Sam's Club last year. It caught on fire on 8/27/25. My son wasn't home, but luckily I was and put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher, but it caught his bookshelf on fire. It had a few energy drink cans inside and was not crowded on the shelf. There were no injuries, but if I had not been home, it would have burned the house down. It was a big fire. I notified the manufacturer because the Sam's Club product listing had a photo saying the model number was EFMIS175-BLACK, which has been recalled for causing fires. But the Curtis International recall department said that the unit was actually EFMIS222-BLACK. Regardless, I believe this unit needs to be added to their recall: https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2025/Curtis-International-Recalls-Frigidaire-brand-Minifridges-Due-to-Fire-and-Burn-Hazards-More-Than-700-000-Reported-in-Property-Damage
