Electric Ranges or Ovens (Excl Counter-top Ovens) (278)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180424-DFFCC-2147388399. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LSE4613ST. Source model text: LSE 4613ST. Incident: Purchased a electric range from Best Buy 8/11/17 Model LSE4613ST. When delivered, the delivery man brushed against the knobs and the cook top of the range inadvertently went on burning all the wrapping. The oven was replaced with a new range of same kind. I have owned the range now for 8 mos and have had several episodes of the knobs inadvertently going on just by leaning near the range. On April 18, 2018, the oven was off and not used when a box was placed on the oven. The knobs once again came on by walking by the range while placing the box. No one knew this had occurred and the box went up in flames, melted the microwave, and cabinet doors above. This is a major design flaw and had I not been home to smell the burning fire, my house could have gone completely up in flames. The knobs are not secure and very quickly can turn on by simply brushing next to them. I reported this to LG and to BEST BUY and no one is c concerned even though they know there is a design flaw here.

Incident: The knob design has from the first week led to unintentionally turning on burners. I was shocked to see how easy it is to do this just by leaning over or brushing against the front of the range top. The bottom of the knob protrudes beyond the front edge. So far, the bell that sounds has saved us from starting a fire, but WE ARE AFRAID THAT THIS DESIGN ISSUE WILL CAUSE A HOUSE FIRE. The knobs can be easily redesigned to avoid this by tapering the lower part of the knob. But this is currently a hazard. We love the range, but are concerned about its safety, not just for us but for other customers too.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20211018-CC4EB-2147359132. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LSE4613ST. Incident: My husband and I purchased a home in October of 2020. To prepare the home for sale, prop owners did significant renovations, including purchasing all new LG kitchen appliances. This item is present in both photos of the home listing and in our documentation from the purchase of the home, as these appliances conveyed with the home. While cooking a meal in the oven, my husband and I noticed blue enamel chips in the bottom of tour household electric range interior of the oven portion (LG model: LSE4613ST /00 serial number: 001KMQG01084 manufacture date: January 2020). We searched extensively and did not observe any damage. We assumed that this was a remnant of manufacturing and cleaned it up, however; we retained those flakes. We did not notice any further issues until October 2021. Approximately around October 2, while cleaning the oven, my husband and I discovered more blue flakes matching the ovens interior. We immediately called LG and they agreed to send a technician for diagnostic purposes. We continually reiterated that we purchased our home with this oven, so we did not have the original receipt, just the documentation with the oven on our bill of sale for the home. We were assured that that would not be a problem. The technician visited and coordinated with LG after seeing the pristine condition of the oven and the glass flakes that were falling from an unknown source in the ovens interior. We were told by both the technician and LG customer service that this was abso

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210405-79DA5-2147364979. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LSE4613ST (LG 6.3 CU. FT. ELECTRIC SINGLE OVEN SLIDE-IN RANGE WITH PROBAKE CONVECTION AND EASYCLEAN Model LSE4613ST, stainless steel color Model LSE4613ST UPC MEZ57157109). Incident: I purchased an LG electric stovetop and oven On 02/06/2021. The knobs on the stovetop ignite so easily that when just lightly brushing against them one or more burners will ignite. We noticed a thick smoke in my house because someone walked past the range and must have lightly leaned against it, and a plastic lid was touching one of the burners. We thought at first that the house was on fire, but fortunately it was a thick smoke coming from the melted and burned plastic. It took a whole 24 hours with all windows open for the toxic smoke and smell to clear. The Burners Unintentionally ignite way too often. The knobs will turn on most frequently when cleaning or when leaning on the stovetop to get something into or out of the LG microwave oven that sits above the stove. This is clearly a burn and/or fire hazard. I have already called the manufacturer and also called Costco.com to alert them.
