SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20211001-12827-2147359341. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28JBEDBSR. Source model text: RF28JBED. Incident: We purchased a Samsung french door refrigerator from Lowe's with 3 year warranty. Had it repaired 3 times for defective ice maker. the entire ice maker replaced once. Attempted to have entire refridgerater replaced due to defect and was denied, we were told ice makers are not covered under warranty. I later found out that there has been numerous service bulletins regarding this same issue, as well as a class action suit. Ice maker constantly freezes up, leaks water on the inside, and out the dispenser onto floor, grows mold on back inside wall. I have contact the company spoke with a rep from Samsung two twice, he wanted to replace defective ice maker again. He informed me a technician wound be contacting me. Never happened. I have emailed this rep, as well as, a rep from the office of the president at Samsung in an attempt to have this resolved. No one has responded. I filed a complaint with the New Jersey BBB where Samsung headquarters are located. Samsung's response was that they had made multiple attempts to contact me but I did not return their calls which was completely untrue. After much research, I have learned that this has been a issue years before we purchased ours. They were and continue to sell a product they know has a manufacturing defect, and are making no attempt to remedy the situation.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220503-A0E82-2147356374. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28JBEDBSR. Incident: My Samsung refrigerator is once again failing. in 12/20, the faulty ice maker was replaced due to failure from a known design flaw. The icemaker and refrigerator are once again failing. The refrigerator and freezer are not holding appropriate temperature and all the food is spoiling. We have a baby and it is not safe to feed him and all the breast milk is going bad. My wife is absolutely horrified. There is over a year's worth of breast milk saved up in the refrigerator and it is liquified and spoiling. This item is 100% irreplaceable. I am in need of an emergency repair or refund. We are a household of 5 and the spoiled foods are excessive.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231025-B02D6-2147344410. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28JBEDBSR. Incident: I purchased a Samsung 4-Door French Door Refrigerator on July 2nd, 2017. Within about a year, we started having issues with the ice maker freezing up and stopped operation. In addition to the warranty that came with the fridge, we purchased an extended 5-year warranty. As of today, we have made 5 warranty calls, and had the ice maker replaced 3 times. We even called Samsung directly to have them come out and assess the issues with the fridge. They only did an assessment and general de-icing, but did not replace any parts. We were then notified that they will not replace the defective icemaker and fridge. They only offer to give a 50% discount on the purchase of a new fridge. Really?

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20221113-40F13-2147352701. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28JBEDBSR. Incident: My Samsung four door refrigerator, purchased in 2017, was defective and failed prematurely. The entire contents of the refrigerator, the middle drawer, and the bottom freezer failed and all the food spoiled. Even before it failed the ice maker constantly froze up and had to be manually defrosted every 3 days. When I called Samsung, they said the refrigerator was 5 years and 7 months old so there was no warranty. The refrigerator had two compressors, one for the refrigerator section and one for the freezer section and both compressors failed. We decided not to throw good money after bad and scrapped the Samsung refrigerator and purchased a new Frigidaire refrigerator. We will never purchase another Samsung appliance. They are just dangerous junk!

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220629-9AB2E-2147355326. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Product: Samsung RF28JBEDBSR (Samsung French Door Refrigerator with center flex drawer and bottom freezer. Stainless Steel. Purchased May 2017, delivered in July 2017. Installed in around May 2018 (new build).). Incident: I purchased a Samsung French Door refrigerator in 2017 for a new build. It was installed a year later. In 2020, the icemaker stopped working properly, freezing up solid and requiring us to make attempts to break apart the ice to get it to start working again. After contacting Samsung, I was told that because it was out of warranty I'd have to pay for its repair. After many calls to different appliance companies to find a repair service, Samsung arranged for one to come from an hour away and I paid $270 for the repair on June 19, 2020. In May 2022, I noticed the refrigerator icemaker seemed to be getting worse again, making slushy ice and sometimes a bit of water would come first. This had been gradual so I believe it started much earlier, though it we accepted the "wetter" ice. But by May, there was an occasional louder fan noise that it was inconsistent. I began to look for more information online and found out that this was a known issue with these refrigerators going back to 2006 and two related repair/service bulletins were issued through 2017 and 2018. I also learned from other consumers that this was accompanied by swings in temperature. I believe this is from the compressor working overtime likely from the fan freezing over from the icemaker. I began to check my refrigerator's temperature on a regular basis, moving an analog freezer thermometer that I keep in a large freezer in the garage to my Samsung kitchen fridge. While the door settings showed it should be 37F in the fridge and 0F in the freezer, it was instead reading at between 22-26 degrees in the fridge and
