Reliability signal

—

6 confirmed failure reports · Early signal · Data confidence: Low

Early signal (6 confirmed reports) suggests shorter ownership before failure (typical 20.5 mo), but that is not enough data for a D or F grade.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230123-C6FFC-2147351205. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Apple Iphone 13. Source model text: Iphone 13 pro. Incident: I found cracks in the back of my iphone when I removed the case. The case is an Apple product, I cannot see the back unless I remove the case. I have noticed that the battery drain so quick, and the phone doesn't turn on even the battery is 100% charged. On 12/25, it stopped working, and the phone exploded in handbag even it's been unplugged for a while.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20251012-6C0FE-2147327141. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Apple Iphone 13. Source model text: iPhone 13 Pro max. Incident: I updated my iPhone 13 Pro Max and immediately after the update, the phone started overheating badly. It gets so hot it feels like its burning my hand, and Im scared to keep using it. I can not work or do what I need to do because after minimal use it gets hot. I reached out to Apple, but theyre blaming the battery and telling me I need to pay to replace it even though the problem clearly started after the software update. Before the update, my phone worked fine. I dont feel safe using it now, and Apple should take responsibility and replace it. My kids can no longer use my phone as I am concerned

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250608-40873-2147330684. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Apple Iphone 13 (Apple IPhone 13 serial number CQ14H9KWPL). Incident: I am submitting this complaint to formally report a potential fire and safety hazard involving the battery in my Apple iPhone 13. The battery in my device has overheated and physically expanded, creating significant concern for my personal safety and for those around me. The phone was used according to Apples guidelines, and has never been subjected to misuse, unauthorized repairs, or extreme environmental conditions. Despite this, the battery began to swell and caused the device to bulgean alarming issue that raises serious safety implications, including the potential for thermal runaway or fire. I have contacted Apple to seek a resolution, but I feel this issue may reflect a wider manufacturing defect or design flaw that warrants further investigation. The combination of heat, battery expansion, and device distortion makes this a matter of urgent consumer protection. For the safety of myself and other consumers, I respectfully request that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission investigate this matter and assess whether Apples iPhone 13 line poses a broader risk related to battery overheating or failure. Please let me know if you require photographs, serial numbers, or additional documentation. I am willing to cooperate fully in providing all relevant information.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260106-248B0-2147324811. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Apple iPhone 13 (iPhone 13 with swollen battery which is under a quality program of Apple but Apple refused to take care of it.). Incident: I am a California resident. My iPhone 13 was diagnosed by the Apple Store in Pasadena, CA (Case no: [REDACTED], Repair no: [REDACTED]) on Jan. 2 as having a swollen battery (fire hazard). Apple technicians confirmed this device is under an internal quality program due to a well-documented global quality issue with iPhone 13 batteries. Despite confirming the danger, Apple refused local repair or replacement because the device was purchased in China. Furthermore, Apple Senior Advisors repeatedly advised me to personally carry this confirmed fire hazard on a commercial flight back to China. This advice directly encourages a violation of FAA regulations regarding the transport of damaged/defective lithium batteries. Following my initial [REDACTED] complaint, a representative from Apple Executive Relations ( [REDACTED]) contacted me but refused any assistance or compensation, citing "internal policy." Instead, he suggested I take this confirmed fire hazard to a local third-party repair shop. This recommendation is highly negligent, as it forces a consumer to transport and hand over an unstable, explosive device to an unauthorized facility, further endangering public safety. Apple is prioritizing regional boundaries and internal policies over public safety and federal laws. As a resident, I am being forced to store a hazardous, explosive device at home. I seek a local resolution (replacement or refund) immediately.
