Came back 20 minutes later oven had set itself to 120F and food temp was 82F, uncooked chicken. Previously the oven had reset temperature unattended. Added a video file where you can observe the oven change the temperature without any external influence , temperature drifts from original 350F down to 200F over the course of a few minutes. First time this happened was while cooking raw chicken. We have also seen the oven drift up in temperature to its limit of 450F, again without any operator input. This is a potential safety hazard. Oven is just over 1 year old (July 2022) and manufacturer did not want to know, offered a repair at $135 plus shipping as it was a few days outside the warranty period.

Incident: While using our Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, Model BOV900 BSSUSC/A, a loud explosion occurred which sent shards of broken glass throughout our kitchen and adjacent rooms. Glass shards covered the countertops and floor, as well as window sills and other surfaces. Apparently the glass oven door spontaneously blew up while cooking, sending shards of glass outward. I was in the kitchen at the time and was startled by the explosion. My husband came running after he heard the explosion and my scream. He then brought me shoes so that I would be protected from the glass shards which were all over the kitchen. It took a couple of hours to remove all of the glass particles which were seemingly everywhere.

Incident: The Breville hand mixer beaters have silicone falling off into food. The company has already replaced the beaters once (in July 2023), and the same thing happened again (in March 2024) with the new set. This is with fairly light use (soft batters, mixer used maybe 1-2 times per month). No injuries occurred, but clearly silicone should not be ingested. Also, the silicone pieces are large enough they could be a potential choking hazard for a young child.

Source model text: BMF600XL. Incident: We have owned the Breville Milk Cafe Model BMF600XL for years with no problem. We came home yesterday to a strong smell of plastic. Under the appliance was a large pool of liquid plastic. It seems the heating element failed to automatically turn off and it melted the plastic parts of the machine from the inside. This could have created a fire, thankfully it did not. Unfortunately I cleaned up the mess before I thought to photograph it.

This means the oven would have turned on and stayed on indefinitely until unplugged. Also, the start/cancel button does not respond. We were in the kitchen and witnessed it happen. This could have started a fire if we weren't home at the time.
