On [XXX], I was driving for about 40 minutes on the highway when my car stopped accelerating and the dashboard said it reduced power and required service. It was towed to Lia Nissan in Schenectady NY where they said it was an electrical recall and that they fixed the problem. Then on [XXX], I was driving on the highway again for about 40 minutes when the same issue occurred. I stopped being able to accelerate and the car went into reduce power mode. It was towed to Country Club Nissan in Oneonta NY where they had my vehicle from 8/7/26 until 9/4/26. They determined it was an oil temperature control valve that needed replacing. On [XXX], on the same spot on the highway, my car stopped accelerating and broke down yet again. It was towed to Country Club Nissan in Oneonta NY again where they replaced the same part they’d previously replaced. Both times, the oil temperature in my car was overheated. Now I’m unable to drive it on the highway for fear it will happen for a 4th time. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have tried without success to have Nissan Consumer Affairs assist me with an ongoing issue with my vehicle that started in February of 2026. The check engine light coming on and sending various codes related to system too lean. It was repaired in March of 2026 only to come on again this past August of 2026. Dealership in Crystal Lake Illinois M'Lady claimed it was repaired only for the light to come on again. They still are not sure why it's happening. They've had master technician from Nissan come and still cannot resolve the issue. The case manager at Nissan consumer affairs is extremely rude and unhelpful. She refuses to help me get the outcome desired with this case. She hasn't even bothered to contact the dealer where my car is to inquire about the updates or services done to the car. I want an early termination of my lease so that I can get a vehicle that is in working condition. I'm paying almost $600 a month on a vehicle that isn't safe or functional. Please help me get this resolved as consumer affairs is unwilling to act with efficiency and professionalism. Thanks

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the contact’s eyes started burning, then the contact had a headache and muscle aches. The contact started feeling nauseous. The contact stated that the issue occurred every time the vehicle was driven. The contact was concerned that the air coming from the AC vents was causing the issues. Medical attention was sought twice, and the contact was diagnosed with undisclosed respiratory issues and was prescribed antibiotics, eye drops for a week, and cough medicine. The contact also missed work for a week while recovering. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that there was water in the sun visors, and that the sun visors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the strong abnormal odor returned. The vehicle was towed to a different dealer, Flow Nissan of Fayetteville (4559 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304), to be diagnosed; however, the cause was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

SEAT BELTS

19 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11721819

The driver seatbelt latchplate binds and continually cinches tighter during normal driving. The issue occurs where the seatbelt webbing passes through the latchplate slot where the shoulder belt transitions to the lap belt. There appears to be insufficient clearance in the latchplate slot, allowing the webbing to slide easily in the tightening direction but not easily in the loosening direction. As a result, the belt continually tightens and specifically pulls the lap portion tighter, while slack cannot be easily fed back through the latchplate without excessive force. This creates a driver distraction because the belt must be forcibly loosened while driving to relieve pressure on the lap. When slack is created to restore comfort, the slack must be maintained because the belt will not easily slide back through the latchplate. This creates a safety trade-off between driving distraction from repeatedly loosening the belt or maintaining excess slack in the restraint system. Two Nissan dealerships inspected the vehicle and declined repair, stating the system is operating within specification.

My wife [XXX] ) was traveling in her 2024 Nissan Rouge at highway speed on her way to work on 1/5/26, in Southeast Alabama, no defroster on, or other car in sight. While traveling her rear windshield randomly busted into a thousand pieces. She immediately notified myself [XXX] ) and the local Sheriffs Office, first believing someone had shot at her car. After deputies arrived and a thorough investigation, revealed that fortunately no one had shot at the car. That it appeared to be a random flaw/defect with the back glass windshield. They also noted that that a similar incident occurred last week mid morning, with a gentleman in a same make and model rouge, as he was traveling, busted without warning. I attempted to call dealership, but they send unbothered and informed me nothing could be done due to no active recall. Upon my own investigation today, I have noted and located many instances of the same occurring in similar models, and even some class actions suits potentially in the works. Please review this with the correct persons and hopefully find some safe resolve. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On oct 17,2025. While driving 35 mph on my to drop off my niece to her doctor appointment. My new 2024 Nissan rogue started to shake and engine light started to blank and cut off power and stopped on the road. Putting our lives at risk for accident on the road. Error Code : P2563 and P2565. I took it to the Dealership Antwerpen Nissan in clarksville, MD. Were I purchased the car brand new in 2024. The system check showed that Nissan Turbo had failed a defective safety recall and I need a New engine for my car after less then 1 year. The dealership would not honor this dangerous safety recall issue from Nissan has on the Turbo engine as there is a active recall on 2022 - 2024 Nissan rogue on the VC- Turbo Engine. Nissan and Antwerpen Nissan have not given me any help to fix this defective turbo engine that is putting a lot of drivers like myself at safety risk for a accident on the road. I would like to file a complaint in this matter to get it resolved and fixed on my 2024 Nissan rogue SV with a new Turbo . To fix the defective recall VC- Turbo from Nissan. The vehicle suddenly lost motive power due to an engine/throttle control failure consistent with defects described in NHTSA Campaigns 26V081 and R25A8/R25A9/R25B1. It entered limp mode and became unable to accelerate. The vehicle is available for inspection. This created a safety risk because the vehicle was stranded in extreme heat for several hours with no access to water or shelter. I became overheated and physically distressed while waiting for assistance. Nissan would not tow the vehicle, so it sat overnight at a warehouse before eventually being transported to a dealership. A dealer confirmed the vehicle entered limp mode but did not complete the recall repair. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for four days without inspection, and I was told it should not have been towed there, so they will not prioritize it. The manufacturer cannot see the open recall because the dealer incorrectly marked it completed. Because the vehicle could not be driven and the defect has not been repaired, I was unable to travel to work and was terminated as a result. Warning lamps and messages appeared immediately before the failure, including reduced engine power and driver assist system unavailable.

Engine / Fuel/Smog/Emissions System (EGR Cooler) Description of the Safety Hazard - My 2024 Nissan Rogue experienced a sudden and catastrophic failure of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler assembly. The internal core of the EGR cooler cracked, causing engine coolant to leak and completely drain. This defect caused severe engine overheating, a sudden and dangerous loss of motive power while driving the vehicle went into limp mode, and experience engine stalling. The sudden loss of engine power/stalling on the highway created an immediate, high-risk collision hazard. Furthermore, coolant leaking into hot engine components presents a critical thermal/fire risk. The vehicle is currently grounded and entirely undrivable at an authorized Nissan dealership. The dealership confirmed that the vehicle cannot be safely operated. However, Nissan cannot provide a repair timeline because the replacement EGR cooler (OEM Part 14735-6RC0B) is on an indefinite national backorder due to widespread, systemic manufacturing defects across this engine line. Hundreds of other drivers are experiencing this exact same dangerous failure, and a formal safety recall is urgently needed before it causes a fatal accident.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11769374

While operating the vehicle, the electronic shifter assembly failed completely, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the desired gear. The dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal electrical/mechanical failure of the shifter assembly and cited "sticky residue" near the center console as the cause, subsequently denying warranty coverage. This design places highly sensitive, non-sealed electrical shifter components directly adjacent to the center console cup holders. Under normal, foreseeable cabin use, any minor environmental moisture or fluid proximity causes immediate, catastrophic failure of the shifting mechanism. This is a severe safety hazard as it can leave the vehicle abruptly stranded in active traffic, prevent the driver from placing the vehicle into 'Park' securely, or trap occupants in an unsafe location without the ability to move the vehicle out of harm's way. Nissan has previously acknowledged this exact vulnerability in earlier model years under Technical Service Bulletin NTB21-069A (which explicitly covered shifter replacement even with liquid intrusion), demonstrating that the underlying component design remains fundamentally flawed and unsafe for standard automotive environments.

At approximately 30,000 miles on this Nissan Rogue 2024 the vehicle flashed a 'low power mode - engine malfunction' code. The vehicle was brought to the dealer and they were unable to reproduce or find the code in the vehicle on board computer's memory. The same happened 2 or 3 more time over the next few weeks. Each time the vehicle cleared the code after being turned off and back on a few hours later. Vehicle was brought into owner's personal body shop and after deep retrieval methods codes were still not found. Code reappeared again and vehicle was brought to Nissan Bayside dealer again on or about July 29. Dynamic road test was done and codes were reproduced and sheared metal from pistons were found in the oils and other areas of the vehicle. Vehicle had long block replaced and vehicle was retrieved by owner on 8/18. On 8/19, a few hours after receiving the vehicle the same warning low power - engine malfunction code appeared again. An image is attached here. Vehicle will be returning to official dealer today for a 3rd time. Apparently there are 2 major issues: major engine malfunction and degrading is occurring and second the on board computer is erasing and spoliating all evidence of these codes once the vehicle is shut down and started again.

On Christmas day 2025 around noon my 2024 Nissan Rogue was parked in the garage as always. Garage temperature was about 45 f. I opened the rear hatch and heard a crackling sound. When I closed the hatch the glass exploded into a million pieces. Clearly there must have been a manufacturer defect in the glass for this to occur. Contacted dealer, they told me that this is not a recall issue nor is it covered under warranty. However, after checking with some off-site authority, they said that since the car was so new that Nissan would make an exception and pay for the replacement of the glass. Later they said that since it had more than 36,000 miles they would not pay for it after all. However they did say that they would "split the cost" with me. I asked how much my share of that cost would be, and was told $480. This was the exact price quoted by safeco to come to my house and repair it on the spot. This a very common issue in the 2021-2024 Nissan rogues. There is a class action suit against Nissan about this issue. At least in my situation I was parked when it exploded but had I been driving that glass flying could have been a much worse situation. I just want Nissan to own up to this and cover the repair. I also want to make others aware of this known problem.

I was merging onto a highway ramp. All of the cabin lights in my car turned on, and a message popped up on my dashboard that said "Engine Stall. Please Stop Safely." I was in the worst part of the road imaginable for this to happen. I was able to get it back up and running for just enough time to make it to the main road, then depended on gravity to get to the safest spot on the side of the road that I could find (still was not safe by any means but the best place I could be for that situation). I called a towing company, Bang's Towing, and waited for quite a while, hoping and praying that no one would hit my car. I had to inconvenience someone else to come pick me up. While waiting for the tow and for my ride, I did some research to figure out how and why this could have happened. I found out that there had been a recall issued for my car for MONTHS, for this exact issue, and I was never notified about it in any capacity. I checked my mail, both of my email addresses, my call logs, and all turned up empty. I then brought it to a Nissan dealership and it has been sitting there since that day. My point in all of this is that I was never given any sort of notification about an issue for my car which could have ended in a lot WORSE of a situation. I paid $347.80 for my car to be towed. I will be pursuing further action with Nissan to rectify but still wanted to put this on record.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11748218

My 2024 Nissan Rogue 1.5L VC-Turbo FWD experienced a serious engine/powertrain failure while driving. The vehicle showed warning messages/lights, including an oil-related warning, began shaking badly, made a loud knocking noise, lost power, and shut off in the street. The vehicle is no longer safely drivable. A Nissan dealer inspected the vehicle and documented that the engine is “knocking internally” and recommended replacement of the engine assembly and turbo, with possible catalyst replacement. The dealer also recommended CVT valve body and O-ring replacement. The scan showed engine-related codes including P219A, P0506, P0303, and P0017, and transmission-related codes including P0746 and P187E. This failure put my safety and others at risk because the vehicle lost power/shut off while in the roadway and could not be safely driven. The vehicle/component is available for inspection upon request. I am concerned this may be related to the known Nissan Rogue 1.5L VC-Turbo engine failure/oil-temperature/bearing issue, but I was told my VIN is not currently included in the engine recall and that no oil-temperature recall code came up. I am filing this complaint because the vehicle had internal engine knock, loss of power, warning lights/messages, and dealer-confirmed engine failure similar to the condition described in the recall. I request NHTSA review whether vehicles outside the current recall VIN population may also be affected.

The contact owned a 2024 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle accelerated inadvertently, and the speedometer increased to 112 MPH. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact swerved to avoid other vehicles, and the vehicle veered off the road, struck a tree, and rolled over approximately 10 times. The air bags deployed as needed. The contact noticed fumes before bystanders immediately assisted the contact out of the vehicle and advised the contact that the engine would catch on fire. The vehicle caught on fire. No further information was available. A Police report was filed. The contact was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact sustained fractured right ribs number five and seven, a fractured lumbar spine L1, bruises, lacerations, and soreness on the left and right sides of the groin with more significant injury on the left side, and a seat belt mark on the right shoulder. The contact received medical assistance. The vehicle was destroyed but the contact was awaiting additional information from the insurance company. The dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was filed, and the manufacturer persistently inquired about the location of the vehicle. The contact informed the manufacturer that she was recovering from the severe injuries and did not have further information. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

On January 23rd 2026, my rear window shattered while parked in the parking lot at work. I have video footage from my job’s security cameras which confirms there were no external forces involved nor, thankfully, no one was as in the vehicle at the time it occurred. This occurred while the vehicle was parked; it spontaneously shattered. The back windshield could have unexpectedly exploded while my children were in the vehicle, and the flying glass could have injured my children. The windshield has since been replaced, but there have been no issues to occur since the initial incident. At the time of the incident, I contacted the local police to file a police report. A certified Nissan dealers did inspect my windshield, and the Nissan Warranty group did not replace the windshield citing that I was over the 36,000 miles warranty (42967 miles). The service rep was helpful during the process and was even surprised that the warranty group denied the repair, since I was not far over the 36,000 miles. I had to pay out of pocket to replace my windshield and to also cover my rental for the time while I was waiting to hear back from the warranty group. I had to leave my vehicle at the dealership during this time. A total of 33 days, which was an expense I could not afford but I needed my transportation back. My insurance company did not cover any portion of the claim since it was a manufacturer failure. There were no warning, odd noises or damage to the windshield prior to it shattering. There is an active lawsuit against Nissan for not performing a recall on this defect, and it is a known defect.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11755609

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2024 Nissan Rogue, which caught fire after a history of shuddering, hesitation, and problems during acceleration. Prior to the fire, I brought the vehicle to a Nissan dealership multiple times because it had a recall and was shuddering during acceleration and at times felt as though it might stall. During these visits, the dealership performed recall related work, diagnostic testing, and repairs involving engine-related components. The vehicle continued to experience similar symptoms after the initial repairs, so I returned to the dealership for further evaluation. Additional work was performed after an intermittent misfire was identified, including replacement of a fuel injector and spark plug and further testing of ignition-related components. Despite these repairs, the vehicle continued to have problems. Shortly afterward, while I was driving, the Rogue experienced a significant loss of acceleration and power and subsequently caught fire. The vehicle sustained extensive fire damage and was ultimately declared a total loss by my insurance company. I am submitting this complaint because the fire occurred after repeated documented symptoms involving shuddering, hesitation, loss of acceleration, and an intermittent misfire, as well as multiple attempts by the dealership to diagnose and repair the problem. I believe this sequence of events should be reviewed by NHTSA to determine whether the fire and preceding loss of power may be related to a safety defect affecting this vehicle or other Nissan Rogues. I have supporting repair records, photographs, insurance documentation, and other information available if requested.

Despite throttle input, the vehicle failed to maintain speed or accelerate, creating an immediate hazard in high-speed traffic. Hazardous Conditions encountered: Upon the loss of power, I observed white smoke trailing from the exhaust and a strong burning odor entering the cabin from the engine compartment. To avoid a high-speed rear-end collision, I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver across active lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. Due to the immediate fear of a vehicle fire (indicated by the smoke and burning smell), my family was forced to evacuate the vehicle and wait outside in a remote location for six hours. Correlation to Known Defects: This incident appears to be a direct manifestation of the defect described in Nissan Recall ID R25E3/R25E4 / NHTSA ID 26V0801 regarding Engine Main Bearing Seizure. The failure resulted in a complete loss of propulsion and a potential fire risk due to fluid ignition or a breached engine block. Post-Incident Status: The vehicle was towed to Nissan of Cumming and is currently awaiting a formal inspection for internal metal debris. The failure of this critical component under highway conditions posed a life-threatening risk to my family and other motorists. Subject: Formal Complaint and Denial of Recall Reimbursement – Nissan North America To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a formal complaint against Nissan North America for refusing to reimburse $6,703 in out-of-pocket expenses related to a failed VC-Turbo engine and a faulty electronic throttle body. These components failed on October 20, 2025, and are directly associated with active, ongoing safety recalls. Despite submitting a formal claim through Nissan Consumer Affairs and providing all necessary documentation, my request for reimbursement has been repeatedly denied. Nissan is failing to honor its regulatory obligation to cover costs for repairs involving known safety defects. I request that the NHTSA investigate this refusal to reimburse legitimate recall-related expenses. Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter. Nissan is breaking Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act in this matter. As they are purposely denying reimbursement on safety recall out of pocket repairs done. As nissan at the time of engine failure back on October 2025 refused to honor the recall repair & forced the customer to pay out of pocket for a failed manufacturing defect on Nissan vc turbo engine & Failed Nissan electric throttle body. All recalled manufacturing defects caused by Nissan. Were on October 2025 the engine on my 2024 nissan rogue cut off while driving with my family., with no warning & almost got us into a car accident. The cause was due to failed bearings in the vc turbo engine that nissan refused to fix that caused the vc turbo engine to fail and electric throttle body. All are recalls and serious safety defects. Nissan has been refusing to fix since 2025 in my matter and still till this day in 2026. $5, 700 out of pocket for Nissan vc turbo & $1,003 out of pocket for Nissan Electric throttle body. All failed due to Nissan manufacturer Defect. Safety recalls Nissan usa / Nissan assistant & Nissan consumer affairs. Are all refusing reimbursement on recalls

The vehicle experiences a severe loss of power, placing it into a reduced-power or limp mode that prevents the vehicle from exceeding approximately 10 mph. The issue has occurred repeatedly despite multiple repair attempts. The battery was replaced initially, after which the vehicle broke down while still at the dealership. The service department removed the new battery & reinstalled the original battery, at which point the vehicle temporarily operated normally. On a subsequent visit for the same reduced-power condition, the dealership replaced the throttle body chamber and multiple gaskets. This repair resolved the issue only for a short period of time. During a third service visit, I paid approximately $3,000 for additional repairs; however, the same issue occurred again, & I was unable to safely leave the dealership parking lot. The vehicle is currently available for inspection, testing, & servicing upon request. All prior inspections & repair attempts are documented in dealership service records. My safety & the safety of others were placed at significant risk because the vehicle unexpectedly loses power while being driven. The vehicle abruptly slows & cannot exceed 10 mph. This occurred while driving on the highway during heavy 5:00 p.m. traffic, as well as during normal roadway driving. A sudden and severe reduction in speed in traffic creates a high risk of rear-end collisions or other serious accidents, particularly if surrounding drivers are unable to react in time. Yes. The dealership where the vehicle was purchased is the same dealership that has serviced the vehicle on all three occasions. Each time, the dealership has inspected the vehicle and represented that the issue was repaired. However, the problem continues to occur immediately after service, including instances where the vehicle could not be driven out of the dealership parking lot. Any qualified service center test-driving the vehicle would be able to observe & reproduce. Yes check engine light

It is XXX; but back in June time frame 2026 an engine recall was called for my 2024 Nissan Rouge. Dangerous to the point that car would shut down or burst into flame with not warnings WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND AT ALL SPEEDS - hgwy. Nissans consumer affairs division discussed this in chat rooms with owners of the year vehicles 2023 - 2025? effected that when the engine is replaced YOU MUST ADDRESS AND CHANGE OUT THE TRANSMISSION. The vehicle is built on VCT technology - variable compression technology??. The replacement engine is so robust and apparently stronger than OME - Original Manufacture Equipment that marrying it with the OME transmission in a short period of time the engine would destroy the trans. Today only a few short months later at 5 AM traveling on XXX at max speed the trans went into LIMP MODE. Limp mode is Nissan's reference terminology I took it to the dealership where I leased it - and changed out the engine and married the anticipated trans failure - it was only a matter of time - it FAILED, the vehicle lost power, steering failed the car from 71 mph quickly slowed would not go any further it dropped speed so fast it was almost hit from behind by a tractor trailer - Nissan's consumer affairs division full well knows of the combination repair issues and NOW the dealership I brought it to, scanned the truck confirmed my worst nightmare was true that after they replaced the engine on recall AND tried to tip-toe away from a trans replacement the engine destroyed the trans and my wife was in grave danger THEY EXPECT US TO PAY $ 2,200.00 TO REPLACE THE TRANS - THEY ARE REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACMENT CAUSED BY THEM IGNORING RESPONSIBILITY. WE WANT OUT OF THIS LEASE EXPUNGE THE LEASE AGREEMENT AND STEP BACK FROM DEMANDS OF EXCESSIVE $ FOR HIGH MILAGE TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AND PUT US INTO A NEW VEHICLE - "LEMON LAW' RECALL NOT RECTIFIED AND LIVES ARE AT RISK - CONTACT ME PLEASE [XXX] ROB MONTY - URGENT!!
