Reliability signal

—

6 confirmed failure reports · Early signal · Data confidence: Low

Early signal (6 confirmed reports) suggests shorter ownership before failure (typical 22 mo), but that is not enough data for a D or F grade.

Incident: I bought a Toshbia microwave/airfryer from Amazon in September 2023. 16 months later it started turning on by itself even though no one was using or toughing it. It started to burn residue on the turntable. The buttons also stopped responding. I've had to unplug it to stop it from continuing to do this.

Incident: My 8 in 1 Toshiba turns on by itself when not in use and adds minutes by itself while in use. This happened infrequently at first then more frequently. The last time it happened I had just used the convection oven and it still had a metal rack in it when it turned itself on. Fortunately I was in the next room and heard it. When I got to the kitchen it was sparking with flames. So grateful I was home. Otherwise my home may have been burnt down.

Incident: Toshiba Model #ML2-EC 105A, combination air fryer, oven and microwave, starts on its own without any buttons being pushed. Cannot be stopped by pressing CANCEL. Only by opening the door will it stop On the final attempt to use the device it started smoking. Unplugged and removed from area. Toshiba acknowledged others have brought this to their attention. I can only imagine what damage or loss of life could have occurred if this happened when no one was home or in the area. Huge safety issue!

Incident: Toshiba Microwave Air Fryer Oven ML2-EC10SA(BS) Has been turning on automatically, adding time automatically, internal light goes off and on, and NOW, as of this week, the turntable runs automatically and will not turn off unless the door is closed. We have tried the reset instructions listed in the pamphlet without success, as well as unplugging it for hours which also does not work. This has been an ongoing problem for almost a year now starting in late Jan. 2025. Tried addressing this as indicated in the Toshiba Pamphlet with no success. Tried contacting Toshiba without success.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250519-F7210-2147331195. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Toshiba ML2-TC10SAIT-SS (Toshiba 7-in-1 Countertop Microwave Air Fryer Inverter Technology Convection Microwave Smart Sensor model number ML2-TC10SAIT-SS Stainless steel Other Dimensions Overall 11.8'' H X 20.6'' W X 16.3'' D Interior 9.49'' H X 13.98'' W X 13.23'' D Turntable Diameter 12.4'' Depth with Door Open 90 33'' D Overall Product Weight 33.28 lb.). Incident: I purchased the Toshiba 7-in-1 Countertop Microwave Air Fryer Inverter Technology Convection Microwave Smart Sensor ML2-TC10SAIT-SS from Wayfair on December 10, 2022. In the last ten days, the electronic panel occasionly became unresponsive, making it impossible to turn the unit off or on. Tonight, the panel was being fussy while I was using the broil/convection function. When I was finished using the unit, the microwave turned itself on and was running all on its own, after I had left the kitchen. Luckily, I saw the light on inside and the timer on the display panel counting down from the other room and was able to inplug the unit to turn it off. It leaves me to wonder if this has happened before without my knowledge. When the panel is unresponsive, I am unable to use my appliance as it's intended. And of course running unattended and while empty presents a fire hazard. Fortunately, there have not been any injuries associated with this hazard, but I am extremely concerned about the potential for fire and do not feel safe using this any longer.
