Ranges or Ovens, Not Specified (281)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250206-C4035-2147333396. Matched catalog product: LG LDE4413ST. Incident: We have one of the LG ranges you just recalled. It turns on very easily with the slightest touch to a control knob. Typical scenario cleaning top and leaning slightly against control. Particular problem for shorter person. This is an obvious design defect. It is ridiculous to ask people to turn on and off the control lock each time they use a burner.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240913-F7A00-2147336558. Matched catalog product: LG LDE4413ST. Incident: My wife placed a small travel bag on the cook top, two to three minutes after the the bag had been placed on the cooktop, the kitchen began to fill with smoke. When I saw the bag smoldering on the red burner, I removed the bag from the range top and placed it in the sink, then turned the cooktop burner off. I then moved the bag to the concrete patio, then started to ventilate the house. The bag contained a cell phone, charging cables, power brick, clothes.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160320-2FB8B-2147420810. Matched catalog product: LG LDE4413ST. Incident: Ever since we bought this LG Electric range 6 months ago we have had repeated problems with the cooktop turning on accidentally when we are working in the kitchen. The knobs are large and protrude from the front of the stove at hip height. They are easily bumped and turned on without us realizing it. We have learned to be very careful and not put anything on the stove except what we are cooking. Regardless, we have repeatedly often almost been burned by turning and unexpectedly finding a blazing hot burner with nothing on it.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210410-B6A50-2147364867. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LDE4413ST. Incident: We bought a home last month that was built in 2015. All appliances are from LG. The LG range stove top knobs (Model No. LDE4413ST, Serial No. 511KMEM01140) are easily bumped and activated into full (HI) operation by bumping the knob "Clockwise". 30 minutes ago I put a reusable plastic grocery tote bag onto the largest electric burner and accidentally "bumped" the knob responsible for that burner. In no time, the bag melted generating an incredible amount of smoke which, thankfully, caught my attention. The knobs on this LG stove should be much, much harder to turn in either direction (Right - HI, Left - LOW). I feel this is an accident ready to happen and I'm concerned that an adult (or child) could be easily burned, or worse, the house may be at risk of "going up in flames". Too scary that this happened so quickly and thank goodness, I was there to return the knob to the "Off" position, extinguish the "smelting" plastic bag and ventilate our home.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20171016-35A2E-2147396732. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LDE4413ST. Incident: This LG electric range has controls that, when accidentally bumped, turn on the stove top heating elements. I have noticed on a few occasions the heating element was on after my wife or a guest have brushed up against the knobs and was able to catch it quickly. Recently I was not so lucky, my wife brushed up against one of the knobs prior to taking my dog for a walk and came back to my house filled with smoke. On top of my stove was a bag of cheese that melted and the smoke carried the oils from the cheese to my ceiling that has to be professionally replaced. I highly recommend not buying this stove. I have had other stoves with knobs in front and have never had this issue. The product has a flawed design and needs immediate correction. I can't imagine having a stove like this with young children in my home. My wife has removed knobs to avoid incidental contact.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210601-3C3F9-2147363784. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LDE4413ST (LG Electric Range Model #LDE4413ST, dual oven, 5 burner stove, stainless UPC 048231319508). Incident: Our new LG electric range is entirely too easy to turn the burner on. We've had 2 fires on the stove top when the stove was not being used. The first time was about a month ago and a pizza box that was placed on the stove ignited. There was nothing cooking on the stovetop. We got our pizza and went to the living room and smoke filtering in alerted us to the fire. I thought it was a fluke accident. The second time, my son was heating chili in the microwave above the stove. He set the microwave cover on the stove stove to get his chili out and went to the living room. Again, smoke filtering in to the living room alerted us to a fire (melting). Both times, the knob was on high when we looked at the stove. After that happened, I knew it wasn't a fluke, but a real safety hazard. Thinking back, there were times I was cooking and I noticed the warming burner was on and I had not turned it on. The knobs have been "turned on" by everyone in the family so it's not just a coincidence that someone is just the right height or moves past the knobs just the right way. The range was not being used in any way during the 2 fires. Luckily there were no injuries and we were in the next room when the smoke billowed in.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231101-CD376-2147344260. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LDE4413ST (ProBake Smooth Surface-Element 4.3 cu ft. / 3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Double Oven True Convection Electric Range (Stainless Steel). Model #LDE4413ST Price: $1,199.00 Purchase Date: 09-16-2020). Incident: I purchased an LG ProBake Smooth Surface-Element 4.3-cu ft / 3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Double Oven True Convection Electric Range (stainless steel) in Sept. 2020 at Lowes. For the last 2 years, it has had multiple burner problems. The left front burner no longer works at all. But that burner knob must be turned on in order for three of the other burners to work when turned on. Otherwise, those burners won't work either. Also, the level of heat on the burners that do work increases and decreases on its own, during use. And yesterday, suddenly, the oven/range began to make "ding" sounds -- as if something is ready -- even when it is not in use and has not been used in days. This appliance began malfunctioning after just one year of occasional use but now more electrical issues are surfacing. I recently spoke to a neighbor with the same LG Range/Double Oven model having the same problems. He was told by an appliance repairman that the appliance needs a whole new electrical panel, and that the electrical issues could cause a fire. The repairman said he is seeing this issue a lot with LG appliances manufactured during the Covid pandemic.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250209-B9AFE-2147333301. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: LG LDE4413ST (LG HOUSEHOLD ELECTRIC RANGE). Incident: A one year owner of the LG stove that is being recalled. Unfortunately, we've had 3 small fires break out from the front knobs being activated without knowing. We have no pets and no kids in home, this is happening with grown adults accidently rubbing against it. I never thought to report it but it truly is frightening having this product in our home. I have photos of one of the incidents of when I was bringing groceries in the kitchen and had put some bags on the stove top and went back out to vehicle to get more bags. When I came back in my grocery bags were on fire and bags and food burned. Thankfully I came back in quickly - it would of been much worse. Unfortunate that this also resulted in me cracking the glass stove top - as I was putting the fire out with my [REDACTED] cup full of water, I dropped the stanley cup on glass top due getting a slight burn from a grocery bag and it cracked the stove top............... I have another incident when I had a wooden cutting board sitting on top of the stovetop to obviously cover the ugly cracked glass top and somehow the burner was slightly touched, in turn completely burning the wood cutting board. Lucky again, I caught it before anything else caught fire. Another incident on Christmas Eve, had my house full of family in celebration of Christmas, someone obviously rubbed the knob, and it turned on burning a plate that someone had set on stove top. This resulted in an almost Christmas disaster and set off smoke alarms, and airing the house out full of people. All events triggered smoke alarms and airing the house out. Being w
