While driving on the freeway, a helium balloon entered the lane and triggered the vehicle's forward collision avoidance system to apply maximum braking autonomously, causing tire screeching. No dashboard warning, alert sound, or driver notification was given. The accelerator was unresponsive for several seconds afterward, creating a rear-end collision risk.

The steering wheel intermittently becomes hard to turn, similar to the resistance applied when lane assist is active during a lane change. This occurs even when the lane assist feature is turned off, suggesting unintended interaction between the steering system and the lane departure system.

While slowing down to enter a parking space and applying the brakes, the car suddenly surged forward, causing it to jump a curb. The incident could have resulted in an accident had another vehicle been present.
