SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190219-74448-2147382605. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Flex Wash Model# WV60M990AV1A5 02. Source model text: Samsung DVG45M5500W. Incident: Purchased a Samsung natural gas dryer that was not installed correctly and we didn't realize it for about 6 weeks when we received a "Restriction" message and the clothes were taking over an hour to dry. The dryer flex hose was kinked. We purchased the installation with the new washer and dryer. The dryer is now filled with lint, no doubt the exit vent line on the house that was cleaned prior to installation also. Samsung authorized dealer, Hahns Appliance of Tulsa will not replace the dryer and would not allow the first 2 techs to open up the dryer nor pull it out from the wall. The 3rd tech that never came was not allowed to do it either per the scope. Samsung said not to use the dryer and agrees it could be unsafe. We agree. This is a fire hazard.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120514-061BD-2147467632. Matched catalog product: Samsung Flex Wash Model# WV60M990AV1A5 02. Source model text: DV448AGW/XAA. Incident: On May 1, 2012 my Samsung Gas Dryer caught on fire. (The model is DV448AGW/XAA and it was purchased on July 18, 2009.) The fire was caused due to the igniter breaking off of the causing the flames to build around the gas line. I caught the fire in time to keep it within the dryer. When I contacted Samsung about this, they immediately directed me to their Product Liability team even though the dryer is technically out of warrantee. I have had both my personal repairman and the repairman sent by Samsung claim that even if the dryer is fixed, it is unsafe to use. Both repairman said that we were lucky the dryer did not explode in our home. Neither have seen this happen before but I am concerned this could happen in other Samsung dryers. Today is May 15th and I am still fighting with Samsung to address this problem. After 14 days, they now refuse to acknowledge that the root of the problem was the igniter breaking off in the unit. (I have photos and proof of these). They claim the problem was due to lint blockage. I clean the internal lint catcher in my dryer after every load and we vacuum out the hose leading the the dryer at least every 6-8 weeks. I also had a vent specialist come into my home who also told me my vents were clean. Samsung has a very dangerous product out there and if someone doesn't address them about it, someone will get hurt. I have tried. I am just one consumer and they hope to brush me under a rug. Please help so someone doesn't get hurt!

It just happened again on 06-17-2025. Samsung has sent tech several times but they can't duplicate the problem so not fixed. I was told me to get it on video and they would fix the problem. Source model text: RF28M9580SR/AA. Incident: Purchased Samsung fridge end of 2017. It has broken 4 times. The compressor has been replaced 3 times and motherboard once. It says its 38 degrees in fridge but is 44 degrees. This causes the food to spoil. Freezer keeps defrosting and breaking then the fridge will stop working. Ice maker freezes up all the time. This is causing my food to be in the temperature danger zone for more than four hours. This is not safe product as my food is continuously spoiling in my fridge and freezer and causing us to be sick. I have been sick with food poisoning twice because of this faulty fridge. I was without my fridge raider and freezer for four months waiting for them to repair the last time this was six months ago. Now my freezer has broken again and its only been six months. Please help

Source model text: RF28K9070SG. Incident: We built our house in 2017 We purchased all our kitchen appliances from Barrett Appliances and they were all Samsung products. They talked us into a 5 year extended warranty and boy am I glad they did. The biggest problem we are still having is the 4 flex door refrigerator model number RF28K9070SG The first year the ice maker leaked a little but we thought maybe the door wasn't being closed well. We leveled it and still had the problem In 2018 the leaking was worse from the ice maker and through the water spout all over the front of the refrigerator and on the floor and in the vegetable bin. I finally called CPS to come fix it. We were told that the ice maker was defective and they replaced it with the new updated one. It took about 6 months and it started again. Since 2018 we have had 2 separate companines come to fix this refrigerator only to have this problem condinue. It is a safety issue because we have porcelain floors and it is very slippery. I put towels down but it isn't good enough anymore. The last fix, Samsung had the technician seal the whole side of where the ice maker is and it is so bad now it even has gotten noises. CPS tells us that Samsun knows the issues and is working something out but they are no longer warranting our refrigerator and CPS is dragging this out

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231118-A0809-2147343947. Matched catalog product: Samsung Flex Wash Model# WV60M990AV1A5 02. Source model text: samsung rf 28k9380sr/aa. Incident: Our Samsung flex door fridge, model # RF28k9380 SR/AA suddenly and abruptly stopped working. Both the fridge compartment and bottom freezer compartments stopped cooling. Per Samsungs own designated service repair company, the issue was diagnosed to be a sealed system failure. The coolant/ refrigerant apparently has leaked out of the system. The technician was not able to pinpoint where the leakage occurred. The amount of refrigerant we may have ingested or/ and inhaled, the time frame and duration of exposure are all unknown at this point. The MSD for one of the more common refrigerant used in current home refrigerators clearly states inhalation of the vapor may produce anesthetic effects, and feeling of euphoria. Prolonged overexposure can cause rapid breathing, headache, dizziness, narcosis, unconsciousness, and death from asphyxiation, depending on concentration and time of exposure.

Source model text: RF28N9780SR/AA. Incident: I have a Samsung refrigerator and have problems from the ice maker not working properly which they have been out and replaced and more recently which happened around Christmas 12/25/23 my refrigerator model # RF 28N9780SR/AA which was purchased by Sears in March 2019. The refrigerator was not cooling sufficiently my flexzone freezer section started defrosting first on both sides (completely, meat started thawing out) I called Samsung @ (800) SAM-SUNG) and went thru a diagnosis with them which readings were not accurate and when I used a thermometer the reading were showing the inside temperature was 65 degrees even though I had set the refrigerator at 32 degrees and set the freezer at power freeze. Still the meat completely thawed and ice thawed completely. my daughter who suffers from ESRD and keeps her medicine which was just purchased around this time was no good, my daughter started running off from eating tainted food and/or using tainted medicine , my husband has been having stomach problems and was seen at Urgent Care which I believe it was from the bacteria from eating food that was not properly stored at correct temperatures. I myself have also been having stomach issues from possible tainted food. I have been calling every day and Samsung claims the refrigerator is out of warranty which this refrigerator has a 10 year warranty on the compressor and instead of offering to send a repair center out to confirm what is going on they instead said they can offer 50% off of

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220602-907FA-2147355854. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung Flex Wash Model# WV60M990AV1A5 02 (Samsung Flex Wash washing machine with a small load top washer and a front loading regular washer. I is black and silver and has a digital control panel. It also has a steam clean cycle.). Incident: My Samsung Flex Wash washing machine was on the last spin cycle of a Normal Cycle with a normal sized load of clothes when it began to spin uncontrollably. It began to smoke gray to black smoke and smelled of burning plastic and rubber. I could not reach the electrical plug and had to run to our garage to the electrical box and kill the main power coming into our house. The washer continued to spin and smoke for an additional 3 minutes. I did not call the fire department but I did bring my kitchen fire extinguisher to the utility room. It is my belief that had I not been home during this event my home would have caught fire. Upon calling Lowes Protection department to file a claim for repairs and having their repair company A and E come to assess the washer for repairs, the repairman could not order parts as this was listed as being under research. The orginal event occurred on March 31, .2022 and as of this date June 2, 2022 there are no repairs available for this product. It is a Samsung Flex Washer Model #WV60M99OAV1A5 and was purchased on March 16, 2019. We believe this product will produce a fire at some point and we have removed it from our home.
