Incident: My machine has been shaking and moving out of it's spot the drum in side whips everywhere in side like it's unbalanced. SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140620-A49BF-2147443519. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG WT5101HV. Incident: The entire top blew off my washer with 3 minutes to go! The drum began shaking violently, and within 2-3 seconds of the violence, before I could stop the washer, the lid blew off in front of me. The entire washer moved to the side, and the lid, which appears very heavy, blew high enough to hit the blinds near the washer. I have taken several photos of this. I did not know of the recall until I investigated right after this happened

Incident: I bought an LG washer and it continued to go out of balance. I found out there was a recall on the washer the repairman came out and changed a circuit control board out and left. The machine now works worst than before. I think LG sold you on the idea that they could do this 10 minute cheap fix and everything would be fine but it is not. the machine is still dangerous and inoperable.

Incident: Washing a load of clothes on Sat.June 8th when we heard an awfully loud noise..We thought the air conditioner fell off the the house (thats how loud it was..) Went into the laundry room and found my washer in the middle of the room after it had hit my dryer and knocked stuff off a shelf that is above it..The drum had put a big dent in the front of the machine and the top was twisted around..Just spent the last 1 hour(6/10/13) on the phone with LG..That was a very big joke..After talking with 7 different people and giving my name and Model no. and serial no. 7 times I have some one coming out to repair something that I feel is unfixable..They kept saying they don't understand my problem..I am just gratefully none of my grandkids were in the laundry room at the time, some one could have been seriously hurt..And LG was trying to get out of repairing this, they wanted me to contact Best Buy, who I bought the unit from because I have a extended service plan through them..When its them that have the recall that we never received anything on..I registered my product on line when I purchased it..I was told they do not have to notify everyone on the recall and that we should have heard about it through following them on face book or online or through the TV..Will never buy an LG product again..

Incident: My LGWT5101HV washing machine blew up. I had put an average size load in, and was sitting in a room about 20 feet away. I heard a loud noise that sounded like the wall had collapsed. I went to the laundry room to see what had happened, and the top of the washing machine had completely detached itself from the rest of the washer and it was embedded in my wall. There was water all over the floor. It was such a violent event, it had thrown itself into the side of my dryer, denting it enough so the cylinder inside now rubs against the side of the dryer frame when it was tested. After it hit the dryer, it bounced the other way and embedded itself into the drywall of my laundry room, creating a hole 4 feet tall by 1 foot wide hole in the wall.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210722-543F9-2147361708. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: LG WT5101HV. Incident: I HAVE OWNED AN lf TOP L OAD WASHER FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS NOW. THE LOAD BALANCER HAS NEVER WORKED RIGHT, I JUST CHALKED IT UP DUE TO THE LOADS I PUT IN TO WASH, SO FOR YEARS I HAVE LIMITED THE SIZE OF MY LOADS AND WASHING MORE LOADS TO TRY TO MINIMIZE THE VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE MACHINE FROM THE DRUMHITTING THE SIDES OF THEMACHINE AND MARRING MY [REDACTED]. THIS IS AN LG MODEL NUMBER WT5101HV. I RECENTLY FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MACHINE FOR EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ALL THESE YEARS, THE "TRUE BALANCE" FUNCTION WAS DEFECTIVE AND LG RECALLED THE MACHINE. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH LG OVER THE PAST 3 WEEKS AND TODAY THEY HAVE SAID THAT SINCE THE PART THAT MY MACHINE REQUIRES IS NOT MADE ANYMORE, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE NOR BE ABLE TO REPAIR MY MACHINE AS IT HAS BEEN 10 YEARS AND IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I REMINDED THEM THAT THIS WAS A RECALL, NOT A REGULAR SERVICE CALL. THEY UNDERSTOOD AND THEY OFFERED A 10% OFF REBATE IF I PURCHASED A NEW WASHER. NO THANK YOU! THEY SHOULD REPLACE THIS WASHER. THE DAMAGE THIS WASHER HAS CAUSED IS [REDACTED] MARRING AND DENTS, THE WASHER STARTED LEAKING WATER FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT AS A RESULT OF ALL THE SHAKING, SO IT DAMAGED MY WOOD FLOORS.

Incident: I own a washing machine made by LG model WT5101HV serial number 112KWATOK352. I had never received a recall from LG. The washing machine exploded causing the entire top portion to fly off the machine. It was in the spin cycle as evidenced by very little water in the drum. The drum was sitting on the bottom of the unit. The plastic pieces holding the support brackets were broken. The entire machine was warped out of shape. If anyone had been in that room near the machine they would have been seriously injured.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200427-69AF0-2147372682. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG WT5101HV (LG Top Loading Washing Machine Wave Force Model Number: WT5101HV Serial Number: 004KWKS04165 Purchased approximately April 2011). Incident: On April 26, I loaded my LG top-loading washing machine with a small load of laundry. I ran the wash on a regular cotton cycle. About 20 minutes into the cycle, I heard extremely loud noises coming from the laundry room - it sounded like a large truck was crashing into my house or several loud explosions. When I entered the laundry room, the washing machine was violently moving and bumping the dryer next to it and the wall. The inside of the machine appeared to have exploded - the drum of the machine was no longer intact and was spinning with such force, that it damaged the metal casing of the machine. Once the metal casing / frame of the machine broke, it caused particles of plastic and other debris to shoot from the machine. My 13 year old son was with me and we yelled for a family member to help. My husband came up and unplugged the machine. When we looked into the washer, we saw that the drum was completely detached, the metal parts of the machine completely damaged and warped, and portions of the machine seemed corroded. The laundry in the machine was covered in particles of plastic, rubber and metal and not salvageable. The incident was frightening. Had we been in the room, we wouldve likely been hurt.
