SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200315-5E058-2147374361. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF4287HARS. Source model text: Rf4287hars/xaa. Incident: Samsung has a factory defect and refuse to fix mine. Temp on the door says 34 but has regularly gone over 45 ,46 numerous times as I have a know accurate thermometer in my refrigerator and in my freezer. I have paid 2 times to fix my unit and this is the 3rd. I just want mine fixed as this is a known factory defect going back as far as 2008. If it cant be fixed I want a refund or a credit at Lowes or other retailers that sell a similar unit. Samsung refuses to have a recall even as this is a no warranty issue. DEFECT plain and simple. There are over 120,000 people on [REDACTED] that have numerous issues with Samsung giving refunds as far back as 2009. So if giving over $1,600,000 back to people for products they sell isnt a admission of a defect Im not sure what would constitute one. Would a company refund that much money unless it was guilty? All this money refund just started in June or July of 2019. The bad thing is [REDACTED] and Lowes still sell these bad refrigerators with them knowing that there is a factory defect. Samsung has still built these as of 12-2019 !!!! Samsung has refunded money as far back as units that were built in 2009 in just the last few days.

Incident: I used the ice dispenser for a glass of lemonade. As I was drinking I noticed something hard in my mouth that shouldn't be in lemonade. It was a small piece of plastic. I inspected the ice dispenser on the refrigerator and found the plastic had broken off of the chute on one side. The plastic on the other side is in tact but you can see it is cracked and ready to fall off.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140223-26249-2147447033. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF4287HARS. Incident: My then 9 month old daughter was with my husband and I when we were putting groceries away and my daughter was holding herself up on the side of the freezer watching us put things away. When my husband reached over to get some more things to put away the door started to close and my daughters thumb was stuck in one of the sharp wholes they have on the side of the freezer. When we finally got her thumb out it was bleeding horribly. We immediately called 911 and they came and took her in a ambulance to the hospital. When they got to our house they couldn't believe all the blood was just from her little thumb. They took some xrays at the hospital and luckily there was no broken bones just a severe cut to her thumb. We thought it was going to heal just fine and that would be just a horrible experience but come to find out it was starting to grow very weirdly and we took her to a specialist and found out that she had damage to her matrix which is her nail bed and wouldn't grow correctly anymore. Luckily after a year of a really weird nail it has gotten to a point that it doesn't look as bad as it started out but the specialist said this is the best is would look and will have to have to have her nail look this way for the rest of her life. Samsung doesn't want to change the make of the fridge and thinks it was a freak accident although we found on this site there is another family that had 14 month old that did in deed get his finger amputated from the same design fridge made by S

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200118-C6CEB-2147375353. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung RF4287HARS (Samsung Free standing refrigerator with French Doors & bottom freezer.). Incident: In October 2012, I purchased a Samsung refrigerator, this was to replace a [REDACTED] one I had. The model #RF4287HARS. It was manufactured in March 2011. From the beginning, I was having issues with the ice maker. I called Sears out to check it out. The repairman told me I needed a new ice maker & it would cost around $600. As time progressed, it started leaking & freezing up around the outside of the ice maker, getting the box that the ice dropped into frozen to the sides. It also started leaking into the dispenser of the door, meaning that when you went to get ice from the door & hit the button to get ice, water would come out first. Water also started leaking down into the bottom of the freezer at the bottom of the whole unit, creating the freezer door to stick, having to defrost it when it's a no defrost unit. Since I have not been able to afford a new refrigerator, I have just been living with it, not knowing there has been issues with this product with other people, lots of other people. On Thursday, January 16,2020, the ice maker was just pouring out water from the ice maker, I pulled the box that ice would be in out & found the ice maker burning hot & smoking. I immediately turned off the ice maker & pulled it out & disconnected it. Upon removing the ice maker, I found it had gotten so hot that it melted the plastic in the ice maker & created bubbles in the box of the ice maker. While I was removing the unit, the heat was so intense that I burned myself. It was a blessing that I was home that day, if I had not been, I can only imagine that the unit would have caugh

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200609-DC612-2147371808. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: Samsung RF4287HARS (Samsung 28 Cu Ft. French Door Refrigerator in Stainless Steel Model: RF4287HARS). Incident: We have bought the fridge at the end of the 2013, we received it at our new house (we moved to TX for a job) at the end of January 2014, that's when Home Depot was able to deliver it. Within a year or two, the electronic panel went out, we could not tell the set temperatures by pressing on it, it was halfway lit up. What never occurred to us is that the panel is only responsible for setting the temps, not necessarily what is actually inside of the refrigerator. We have had milk spoiling too fast, fruits and vegetables freeze up and then go mush. I thought maybe the grocery store is selling defective groceries so I tried to pick a better firmer product, but it kept going bad. This year, with pandemic and all, we started hearing noises that would stop when you open the refrigerator doors. Turns out the back wall was completely covered in ice. My husband took out the inside panel (i wish i took pictures) and the whole wall was covered in ice. I then went to google to see what was that and I have discovered many other consumers experiencing issues just like I am. I also found a [REDACTED] group that I joined called "[REDACTED]" with [REDACTED] members as of [REDACTED]. Every single one of them is experiencing issues with their Samsung refrigerator, to the point that the moderator started sharing tips on how to ask Samsung to repair/refund for the defective product. Many of them have successfully received repairs/refunds from Samsung. Over $3M have been refunded since June of 2019. So we defrosted our fridge by letting it sit open for a few hours, hoping this would be the end. C

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220524-767F4-2147356019. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Product: Samsung RF4287HARS (a Samsung refrigerator RF4287HARS 4 Door French). Incident: On 11-22-11 I bought a Samsung refrigerator RF4287HARS 4 Door with extended warranty. I made this purchase at Lowes Home department store. Unfortunately, your product has not performed well because due to ice maker not working ,refrigerator does not keep food cold enough it shows 34 on outside of door and when i put a thermometer inside it reads it 54 or more. I even had delii drawer to have like 2 inches of ice frozen under it. also it froze soda cans and they exploded making huge mess and it could have hurt some one had they had door open when it happened.....the freezer freezes over... drawers for keeping deli meat in are cracked..It leaks water out onto floor and under it .....the back of refrigerator freezes up causing plastic on inside back of refrigerator to crease and bulge..i have had repair out 3-4 times and also having to rent a refrigerator from [REDACTED] for a month due to mine not working and having to wait on parts and repair men coming out 3 -4 times... I had to pay for some of these repairs myself .I also have to keep insulin cold to which i am afraid to put in this frig so i had to buy mini frig to put insulin in. My son and I had to be treated for upper repiratory problems doctor said was from mold in refrigerator and food not being cold enough... Enclosed are copies of pictures of exploded cans to which it blew the tops off of and I could not find all the tops to cans To resolve the problem, I would appreciate your accomodation of full refund of refrigerator and refund for food that has spoiled.
