Hello! I have had my 2019 RAM 1500 for 5 years now. I have called RamCare many times trying to get my problems resolved and they just keep saying my truck is not under the recalls. Both problems I have are exactly what the recalls are AND my manufacturing date on my truck shows that they SHOULD be covered, but for some reason the recall isnt attached to my truck VIN. 1: Cracked back window sliding frame. It is cracked in the EXACT spots thst show on the recall and my back window let's water leak in. 2: Tailgate opens on its own from being misaligned. Both have recall bulletins out that my truck 100% falls under, but for some reason, the recalls aren't attached to my VIN. I have called the dealer a few different times trying to get this resolved and they have still be unable to get them done. The dealership service managers have even told.me that my truck should DEFINITELY be under the two recalls and they dont understand why they aren't. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars the last couple years getting all kinds of things fixed on my truck AND I actually just dropped my truck off this evening to get new manifolds installed tomorrow! This is the SECOND time that I have had to get this done because the Mopar manifolds are junk and keep cracking! I just don't understand why RamCare can't just attached my VIN to the recalls so I can get them fixed like they should. The dealrrship even said they should! I have had Chrysler/Mopar vehicles for almost 20 years now!!! I have always been a very loyal customer. I just don't understand. I don't think it is fair at all.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11386361

Location: state hwy 55, buffalo, mn, intersection with central avenue description of the issue: while stopping at the red light and applying the brake, the truck experienced a sudden acceleration burst. Even though the brake was fully applied, the engine was accelerating on its own and pushing the truck. At low speed (<5MPH) and with the brake fully applied, the truck hit a stopped minivan in front of me and continue pushing it towards the intersection in bursts as I was depressing the brake pedal. After a few (three or so) brake push and release attempts, acceleration stopped and the truck (and the minivan) came to a full stop. The truck pushed the minivan for several feet. There is significant damage to a truck since the minivan had a bicycle rack installed. Except for the damaged bicycle rack, there is no observable damage on the minivan. After the truck came to a full stop, the traction control light was on and blinking for a short period of time, then it on. The front park assist light was also on. I was able to drive the truck to closes the safe parking location. I could not recreate braking related acceleration. Potential cause: a web search showed several reports of sudden acceleration bursts while applying the brake were reported on Dodge / RAM vehicles, including RAM 1500. The description of the problems was almost identical to this case. Safety concern: if I did not depress the brake several times which in my opinion stopped acceleration, the truck May have pushed the minivan into a busy intersection and cause a potentially serious accident.

POWER TRAIN

67 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11640076

My Ram 1500 front drive assembly issue. The initial issue was failure to engage in 4wheel drive. In either 4 wheel low, high or Auto. During replacing the transfer case it became obvious that axle in some way basically became welded to housing so had to replace left axle as well. Do to these problems I now have to replace front differential (part# 68349702AE and right axle (part# 68259567AA) as well because of the failure of transfer case and left axle. My issue is 1st the differential part is not available in my area (Nassau County NY). 2nd is that there is a recall for a faulty gear or bearing in the front drive train that my VIN# is not included in this recall. Could this bearing/gear have caused my issue? 3rd is if the front differential is on such a long back order that is telling me that Stelantis has an issue with the reliability of this part (68349702AE). Why if this is in such demand and numerous problems with them hasn't NHTSA not forced Stalantis to recall these parts. My truck is a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 Hemi with just 38,677 miles presently today. I have never taken this truck 4 wheeling or on the beach. The only time I have used 4 wheel drive is when the roads are slick due to rain, snow or ice, because of the light rear end. The last time 4 wheel drive was used was last years snow storm. Just don't understand hardly ever used and all this damage, truck was never in a substantial accident. I clipped drivers side back door and small section of bed, minor. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm already into this for $2500 and looking at another $3000. Thank You.

SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11733866

I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall repair on my 2019 Ram 1500 (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle was brought to an authorized dealership for a safety recall related to the ABS system. At the time of the initial visit, there were no warning lights or system faults present. After the recall repair was performed, multiple warning lights and system errors appeared that were not present prior to service. The vehicle has since been returned to the dealership on three separate occasions, and the issue remains unresolved. The dealership has now indicated a potential wiring harness issue but claims this is not related to the recall. They have requested approximately $1,200 for further diagnostic work, which we declined. The manufacturer, Stellantis, has stated that the recall for this VIN is closed and has declined to intervene, characterizing the situation as a dispute between the customer and dealership. As a result of these unresolved issues: * The vehicle cannot pass inspection in Texas * The vehicle cannot be registered or legally operated * Warning lights related to safety systems remain active We believe this represents either an incomplete recall repair or a condition introduced during the recall service process. We are requesting that this matter be reviewed as a failed recall remedy, as the safety issue has not been properly resolved and the vehicle remains in a compromised condition. Supporting documentation, including service invoices from all visits, is available upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Steering failure

STEERING

48 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11532433

The power steering on my 2019 Ram 1500 stopped working while driving on Interstate Hwy 94 in Wisconsin in heavy holiday traffic on Friday, June 30, 2023. The steering wheel vibrated, I heard a warning sound, and a warning message came up that indicated the power steering needed servicing; there was immediate loss of the power steering; this all happened in 2-3 seconds. It was only because I was strong enough that I was able to exit the Interstate and return to my home about 90 miles away. Had my wife or another person with not as much strength been driving, they would not have been able to manage the situation. It is a definite safety issue. The next time I entered the vehicle a day or two later to have it inspected, it was working again. But, again, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, the same issue occurred on Wisconsin State Hwy 29, after driving approximately 80 miles. My wife was with me this time so she witnessed the event. We pulled into a truck stop to eat. When we returned to the vehicle, it was working again. On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, we had the vehicle inspected by Chilson’s Corner Motors of Cadott, Wisconsin. They determined that the gear rack and pinion system needed to be replaced. The cost was estimated to be $2500. They indicated (and we verified) that the VIN# was not included in the 2019 Rams that were recalled for this issue. After checking other possibilities to correct the issue, we called Chilson’s to order the Gear rack and pinion for the vehicle. Interestingly enough, they did not know how long it would take to receive the part as there was a back order on these parts.

Powertrain / transmission failure

POWER TRAIN

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11210184

Enterprise rental - while driving on a busy city freeway, the pick up truck lost all it's speed as if transmission switched from (drive) to (neutral). This occurred at approximately 1,180 miles (odometer), as I was driving on the left lane (fast lane) going around 75/80 MPH the vehicle's rpms sped up to 5000/6000 while the speedometer show the vehicle slowing down as the pick up truck lost it's speed. I immediately turned my emergency lights on as I attempted to pull over onto the left shoulder. I also promptly realized that the rpms were as high due to my foot still resting on the accelerator, I also checked that the pick up truck's gear was still lit up as (drive) - and I confirmed that it still was, but the pick up truck was not responding. After coming to a complete stop the pick up truck was placed in (park) and no warning messages/lights lit up (before/during/after incident). As I the pick up truk was still running in (park) I turned off the (a) button located below the gear knob (autostop mode) just in case that might have prompted this (highly unlikely but - just in case). After inspecting all gagues in dashboard (engine temp/battery/transmission oil temp ETC) all ok, the pick up truck was placed in (drive) gear after, the pick up truck responded to the gas pedal's input (normally). Outside temperature was around 100 degrees (f), prior to incident pick up truck had been parked for 6HRS in the sun; incident occurred after driving through a 1- 1 1/2 inch raised concrete bump (on the freeway, typical in Texas). Pick up truck had been driven approximately 1000 miles in the last 2 days (highway miles).

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11662953

My 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn/Longhorn 3.6L V6 (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced a sudden and catastrophic engine failure without warning while driving. The vehicle shut off unexpectedly on the highway and would not restart. There were no prior dashboard warning lights, low oil pressure indicators, or error messages before the incident. A full diagnostic revealed severe mechanical failure in cylinder 1, including piston-to-valve contact and 40% leak-down with compression at 50 psi. This damage rendered the engine inoperable and required a complete replacement. Prior to the failure: The vehicle was regularly maintained using synthetic oil, following the manufacturer's recommended intervals (between 6,500–10,000 miles). The oil life indicator was followed, and the truck was never low on oil or pressure. A Customer Satisfaction Notification for PCM (Powertrain Control Module) reprogramming was never completed due to the dealer’s system being down on two separate service visits. Despite following proper maintenance and attempting to comply with the manufacturer’s recall-like notice, the engine failure occurred without any warning or indication. The dealership and warranty provider have attempted to deny responsibility, blaming maintenance intervals without proof that it caused the failure. This is a serious safety concern as the engine shut down at highway speed, placing me and others at risk. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue and whether PCM logic, a known defect, or improper diagnostics at the dealership contributed to the failure. Tl* the contact owns a 2019 RAM 1500. While the vehicle was parked in a garage, the contact exited the vehicle and it independently accelerated backwards. The contact entered the vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The contact noted that the vehicle did not drift backwards, but independently accelerated rapidly backwards out of the garage of the contact's residence. The contact was nearly smashed in between the front driver's door and a stone pillar. There were no injuries. The contact stated that the driver's door and the front fender were damaged due to becoming caught on the garage pillar, which bent backward and struck the front fender of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle would not shift into the drive position after three attempts. The contact referenced the "safe-hold" system, which was a feature of the electronic park system that failed to automatically engage the vehicle to the park position after exiting the vehicle. Carright Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM fuso (5408 university blvd, moon, pennsylvania 15108, (412) 264-4270) was made aware of the failure and took the vehicle in for service. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case number: [xxx]. The contact referenced NHTSA action number: PE16014 (power train) as a potential cause of the failure and specifically indicated that the parking brake was not engaged. The failure mileage was approximately 97. *Tr*dt ('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (FOIA), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6).')*JB

1 The vehicle’s dashboard upper trim panel (leather covering and stitching) has failed. The leather is lifting and separating from the dashboard surface, and the stitching is coming undone. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. The lifting and peeling leather creates a safety concern. The leather separation is present at all times and continues to lift from the dashboard. The condition becomes significantly worse during hot and humid weather, as the material expands further. This can obstruct the driver’s forward or peripheral vision, including blind spots, reducing the ability to clearly see passengers, other vehicles, or road hazards. Additionally, if the material continues to detach, loose sections could interfere with steering wheel components or dashboard controls, creating a distraction or potentially affecting safe vehicle operation. 3. Yes, the issue has been inspected and confirmed by a dealer. The dealer acknowledged the dashboard leather separation and stitching failure. Similar issues have also been reported in other vehicles of the same make and model. 4. The issue has been inspected and confirmed by an authorized dealer. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. The manufacturer has not directly inspected the vehicle at this time. 5. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages prior to this issue. The first symptom was visible lifting of the leather and loosening of the stitching on the dashboard. The condition has progressively worsened over time and becomes more pronounced during hot and humid weather, although the separation is present regardless of weather conditions.

Electrical system failure

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11747275

System/Component Malfunction: High-voltage hybrid powertrain system failure. Code P0DAF-00 (Hybrid EV Battery Cell Balancing Circuit) is present and locked in the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP). Vehicle is available for inspection. Safety Risk: Operating a vehicle with an unresolved high-voltage hybrid cell balancing defect poses an immediate safety risk. Cell imbalances can cause sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds, propulsion shutdown, or an increased risk of a thermal event in the high-voltage pack. The manufacturer (Stellantis/RAM Care) refuses to provide a written safety determination, yet the dealer instructed me to continue driving a compromised high-voltage system on public roads until the failure worsens. Dealer Confirmation & Inspection: Confirmed and reproduced by authorized dealer (Ron Tonkin RAM) across multiple visits: Feb 25, 2026 (RO 502329): Code P0DAF-00 present. Dealer performed a BPCM software flash, which failed to resolve the underlying fault. June 2026 (RO 504097): Held for 10 days. Technician documented: "Scanned codes and found code P0DAF-00- Hybrid EV Battery Cell Balancing Circuit present but code is stored (not active) and also not stored in PCM, only the HCP." Tech test-drove 97 miles but corporate engineering (STAR) rules prevent parts authorization until the code migrates from HCP to PCM as an active fault. Dealer explicitly instructed me to drive it until it triggers a hard failure. Warning Lamps & Symptoms: First appeared Feb 25, 2026, via a yellow Check Engine Light. The light intermittently cycles on/off as the computer stores the code, but the underlying high-voltage defect is completely un-repaired.

I bought this new car in December 2018. The three days after, I realize the car was making deep loud humming/rumbling noise "zzzzzz" sound while I was driving at 10MPH-40MPH. It gets worst last night, the humming sound came every 15 seconds, and last about 5 second or longer. The sound was like the tires going to fell off the car/a jet left or a motorcycle passes by. I went to the dealer 5 times since this problem appears. They said they did everything they could, they gave me 2 reports, and they said they couldn't duplicate this problem, so they refuse to exchange or return this problem car. I felt very very unsafe to drive this car. The dealer told me "it is safe to drive because nothing shows on the panel, no warning light." But I think because of nothing shows on the panel is the scariest part. It is a new car. I was driving on the nice and flat road. I didn't turn the radio or AC on. I turn off the inside air circulation. I closed all the windows without a gap. Everything was normal and it starts humming. I have drive truck/pk truck for 35 years, and it is the first time of my life herd a car making such a noise. A car is having a problem and shows any warning light, even a professional can't solve? What is the problem? Is the tire going fell off when I'm driving? Is the car going to constantly stop on the highway? Is the break not going to do its work without a warning? I have so many questions, and who knows what the answer is. I'm so done with this car. I have a lot of videos recorded when the humming happens, but all of them are bigger than size 5MB. I wonder if there any other way to show the evidence. I can do email to the agent.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11245654

When backing out of the driveway without any obstructions the brake assistance will engage. This has caused injury with heads hitting the ceiling and whiplash. Fca/ram says this is functioning as designed but as designed this should have prevented an accident but did not. This is a concern as it can cause injury to many by engaging when there is no obstruction or anything to cause it to engage. The dealership has informed me that fca is aware of the issue but no resolution for this. I am tired of not being able to use a safety feature due to it causing injury and not avoiding an accident. My vehicle has been at the dealer several times for this and one time they made it worse. The last time they sent me home with a similar truck and that one did not do it each time like mine. So there is a variance in the code from one truck to another that is not consistent and causes more harm than it would prevent. I look forward to a resolution by fca as there are many complaint videos online about how this engages for grass or other things that are not an immediate danger. It also has done this when it was raining on a flat surface. This feature needs more testing and an update soon to be called a safety feature of the 2019 RAM brand. A link to the videos can be shared and was emailed to the nhtsa.webmaster@dot.gov address. They are to large to load on this site due to the time length to capture all details of the incidents. The videos are both of the newer RAM and mine. The difference is mine has the smaller screen in the video. It is an ongoing issue with a start date about 2 months after I purchased the vehicle and after the dealer "flashed" the programming due to a recall.

We bought this truck used around September of last year and it took a couple of months to start having issues. First, when we would turn the truck on and it would crank, we would hear an occasional knock in the rear end. Like something being reemed out. Recently, one two separate occasions, two separate days, we were going to town and all of a sudden the A/C stopped working and extremely hot air started blowing through the vents and we couldn't turn it off or anything. The knobs to turn off the AC didn't turn it off. The only solution was to pull over on the side of the road and kill the truck and then crank it again. I can only imagine if someone else has this truck and a baby or even elderly was sitting in the vehicle and it changed over like this, it would've suffocated them within minutes, the heat was hotter than heat on a vehicle ever thought about being. Also, our backup camera has had moisture in it after a rain and throws up green lines across the screen. It also has had electrical issues, the radio and whole display will sometimes cut off when the brake pedal is pressed. The radio sometimes cuts off on its own or won't turn off when the button is pushed and sometimes this causes distraction to the driver. There has been a rattle in the steering wheel since we have gotten it. Of course, we have taken it to the dealer from where we bought it because we paid for an extended warranty but they can never find an issue because it doesn't do it while in their presence, even though we have pictures of the malfunction. Also, recently we have noticed that the truck doesn't want to take the gas. It will click off the gas probably 3 or 4 times before we can get the truck filled.

To whom it may concern, I am making a safety complaint on a component that failed while operating the vehicle. My vehicle is a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn DT. The component that failed and almost cost me to crash my truck while in reverse and parking is called The Park Sense and The Rear Parking Assist . I started to have this problem back in the Summer around August 2024. I have brought the vehicle in to my dealer ( CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE OF PARAMUS N. J.) several times already, the first time they replaced the Park Sense Sensor Module and reset the computer. No sooner then I got home from the dealership and was reversing in my driveway the error messages came on and the truck did not sense the garage door and continued to back up thankfully I was able to brake hard and stop 6 inches from the door. Not only did the Park Sense warning come on but also The Rear Brake Assist did not stop the vehicle like it has in the past. I brought the vehicle back to the same dealership and they worked on it for about 6 hours gave it back to me and said they rerouted the wiring harness for the park sense module and it was working fine. As I get into my truck to leave the error messages came on the dashboard so I walked inside and showed the service manager and the tech that just finished working on my truck. They said to bring it back, they had no regards for my safety or the safety of others letting me leave the dealership with the truck acting up cause from time to time the brakes would suddenly come on causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. Nevertheless I strongly believe that there is a safety issue with the truck's Park sense sensor and Rear Brake Assist too. I do not know what to do can someone please help me? Thank you.

I am writing to report a critical safety defect in my vehicle, a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn , involving a catastrophic failure of the heater core (heater coil). This failure creates an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety as defined under 49 U.S.C. § 301. Safety Risk 1: Acute Toxicity and Driver Impairment The failed component is releasing vaporized ethylene glycol directly into the passenger cabin through the HVAC vents. Per CDC and ATSDR documentation, these fumes are known to cause respiratory distress and neurological impairment, including dizziness and confusion. While operating the vehicle, these fumes caused [describe your symptoms, e.g., dizziness or coughing], creating an immediate risk of a crash. Safety Risk 2: Severe Visual Obstruction The vapor creates a persistent, oily film on the interior of the windshield that cannot be cleared by the defrost system. This "flash-fogging" has severely restricted my field of vision during operation, which mirrors safety risks identified in NHTSA Recall 24V-011. Safety Risk 3: Electrical and Fire Hazard Liquid coolant is currently leaking into the dashboard area, which houses critical wiring harnesses and electronic control modules. This exposure to conductive fluid poses a high risk of electrical short-circuits and potential vehicle fire, as documented in previous NHTSA investigations (e.g., Recall 26V012). Supporting Information: * VIN: [XXX] * Current Mileage: 93000 * Incident Date: January 17 2026 I request that the NHTSA open a Preliminary Evaluation into this model’s heater core assembly to determine if a safety-related recall is warranted. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Dodge Ram Rear Backup Camera Failure. Experienced multiple instances of backup camera failure. Problem was at first intermittent, as it became more regular truck was serviced at dealership. Wiring harness to camera replaced. Roughly 1 month later, problem returned. Returned to dealership for service, camera replaced. Roughly 1 month later problem returned. Performed online search of forums / message boards and discovered this is a common issue with 4th generation Ram pickups. Recommended online fixes are disconnecting camera from wiring harness in tailgate and re-connecting, or even simply jiggling the connection. A friend who also owns a 4th generation Ram suggested slamming the tailgate to fix. This (ironically) works and is less invasive than removing the tailgate inspection cover, and far better than leaving truck with dealer for a week. Still, the problem continues, frequently during change of temperature between seasons. I have small children, and am often driving locations where small children toddle about (daycare, parks, etc). Losing the rear view camera means I have no rearward visibility to see a small child behind this tall truck. If it fails in one of these locations I return the vehicle to park, get out, and slam the tailgate. I hope others who own these trucks take the time to do the same. This is a known problem identified on youtube and many message boards / forums. After the dealer repairs, when the problem occurred again I contacted Chrysler Cares and questioned if there was a recall or technical service bulletin related to the issue. I was told 'no'. I asked if some type of internal ticket or work order for engineering to investigate could be created and was told only dealerships could initiate investigations.

The exact failed component has not yet been identified. The malfunction appeared to involve the vehicle’s electrical, communication/network, ignition or starting system. The vehicle and its components remain available for inspection upon request. On Friday, August 21, 2026, while driving my 2019 RAM 1500 Classic Tradesman with approximately 108,320 miles, the vehicle’s electronics suddenly began behaving erratically. As I braked and slowed nearly to a stop, the engine shut off. Parts of the dashboard remained illuminated, but the engine would not crank or restart. After approximately one minute, the electronics returned to normal and the vehicle started again. The truck then operated for the remainder of the drive. This created a safety risk because the vehicle shut off unexpectedly while it was still moving and temporarily could not be restarted. A similar electrical shutdown occurred on February 13, 2026, when the displays flashed, the HVAC cycled, vehicle power was lost and the key became stuck. The vehicle restarted after approximately five to ten minutes during that incident. The current problem has not yet been reproduced, confirmed or diagnosed by a dealer or independent service center. To the best of my knowledge, it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, an insurance representative or another organization. There was no advance warning before the electronics began malfunctioning during the August incident. The erratic electronics were the first symptom immediately before the shutdown. The dashboard remained partially illuminated during the no-crank period, but I do not recall the exact warning messages or lamps displayed. The vehicle’s VIN currently shows zero unrepaired safety recalls in NHTSA’s lookup.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 3.6L Pentastar that I was driving home in from being out of town, and as soon as I got back in town I started getting the smell of burning oil coming through my AC vents when I would stop. I assumed it was a car nearby, but once I stopped at my house the smell came back. The next morning I went outside and there were a few drops of oil under the truck, so I looked underneath and the transmission pan cover underneath my truck was covered in oil. I couldn’t figure out where the oil was coming from, so I took the truck to my mechanic. They took a look at it and saw that the leak was coming from my oil housing assembly, and oil would run to the back of my engine then spill down over the transmission’s bell cover and drip off the transmission pan cover. This mechanic is not a large mechanic by any means, and they said that they usually get 20-30 of these same trucks every year with the same exact problem: a leak coming from the oil housing assembly. They said that it happens because the manufacturer cut corners when making this part, and after 60-90k miles it will give out due to the heat coming off the engine. They also said that the manufacturer and dealers will try to blame it on the consumer stating they over torque the filter when replacing it, but that is not the case at all. It is the quality of the oil filter housing that is the issue, and the manufacturer needs to improve the quality of the part and do a recall for this part. My truck was just over 80k miles when this occurred a few days ago, and the mechanic was not able to get an aluminum aftermarket version of this part, so I’ll have another 60-90k miles before I have to drop another thousand on this part. Please fix this issue and issue a recall.

Contact stated I bought my 2019 RAM 1500 at the end of May about 3 months ago. In over 40 years driving my recent experience was one of the most frightening. I got on interstate 10 here in houston, I was in the right lane and the motor vehicles behind me were two big rigs moving at a good speed. I needed to get to the left lane for easy pass. To get out of the truckers way I "put my pedal to the metal" as the phrase goes. I felt I believe it was three crunches under my right foot. Right at this time my gas pedal went back and hit the fire-wall carpet.was driving in my 3 month old RAM 1500 with 1840 miles on it. Accelerated to get on the highway, pressed the pedal and it clicked like gears were breaking. I could feel it under my shoe. The pedal got stuck and I was really accelerating, I hit the brake hard and it slowed the car. I got my shoe behind the pedal up high and pulled it toward me. The dash lit up "a!" Service electronic throttle controller! I moved the pedals toward me like a short person would drive. The entire pedal wobbles like its broken inside the unit. I put a call into someone at the dealership. On the following day, Wednesday, August 21ST. I brought my truck in to the dealer. They jacked into the OBD connector and a minute later it shout out 6-7 issues. They gave me a loaner car and said this would take a few days to sort. I got a call about two hours later telling me that a new throttle controller had to be ordered and that would take about a week to get. They also said they compared my pedal with a new truck and that there was an problem. I'm hoping for a call back. This is serious! I a very decent driver, I can't imagine a woman or older man in my situation. *Dt *dt *dt *dt *dt *tr *dt *dt *tr*jb *dt

Bought 2019 RAM used in March 2020, had 22,500 miles. One morning the radio display began flickering and jumping around to different screens or settings as if someone was controlling it or logged into the control unit. This happened a few times. I videoed some of this going on with my phone. Then called the dealer. They said they would need it to happen while at the shop to determine the problem. Of course it stopped before I made it to the dealer. Dealer looked into it but could not determine an issue or problem. However it appeared to be fixed after that visit. There have be occasions that I’ve had problems starting the truck. It’s almost as if the truck does not sync with key. After removing key, open and shut door or flipping key over, turn key it cranks. January 10, while at work, everything was working fine on truck that morning. After driving 2.5 hrs, I stopped and got out of truck for 5 minutes. Once back at truck, cranked it and began driving off the power steering failed to work. Popped the hood, examined to see if I could find problem but no luck. Carried truck to local mechanic Jan 11. They saw several codes but wasn’t sure of problem. So he cleared all codes and rechecked. Couldn’t find quick easy fix. Then I made appointment with dealer. Dealer said the steering rack and pinion needs replaced but there isn’t a recall on my truck. However I’m seeing a lot of articles about this same issue with 2019 RAM. Also have a co-worker with a RAM that experiences the same odd electrical issues on his RAM. Would like some help to connect the ongoing problems with RAM electrical problems and fix it for all RAM owners. Have videos of radio issues while it’s jumping around but I could not upload in section below. It only allows photos.

On Jan 2nd 2023 I just left the grocery store with my youngest daughter and heading home. While on the freeway my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie stopped accelerating even with my foot on the gas and my head lights shut off and dash lights were flickering and I lost complete power while making it to the next exit barely able to turn the wheel since no power steering was available and we made it about half way up the ramp and stalled completely. Yes I said up the off ramp and check the date it was SNOWING! WITH MY CHILD IN THE TRUCK. No power, no hazard lights NOTHING to keep us from getting hit. I was able to get it jumped went bought a AGM battery and by the time I drove back home which is about 2 miles the new BATTERY WAS DEAD. Bring it to the dealership after checking (voltages and that the battery can be and hold charge my OBD read only power drain with the battery and Engine dash lights illuminated. Can charge the battery and I would get about 45-60 min of driving because the battery wasn't being charged). I tell them it's the exact description of campaign (V87) 1. System unable to charge battery. 2. Losing power to everything. (Which could have killed us). 3. Only the battery and Engine lights are illuminated. This point to the MGU not working properly. However dealer ship told me it's not even close to that so I excuse them and asked them to repeat that and they said it was the 48v battery that went bad while quoting me $3,700.00 for the repair indicating it was out of warranty. With the age of these batteries die this soon on the E-torque systems that means EVERYONE WILL BE SPENDING AN AVERAGE OF $6,000-$9,000 EXTRA ON THE 48V BATTERY You need to do whats right and have this recalled immediately before someone has to die or worse a child dies.

Electrical system failed. A new battery was installed 1 month ago and on 10/28/23, I went to start the truck and it hesitated but started up then I lost power and it would not start again. I had it jumped and the service auto start/stop light, check engine and battery light came on. I pulled out from work and the engine hesitated. After proceeding over an overpass, I went to make a left hand turn onto the highway and a message came up indicating the power steering system had failed, the emergency brake came on and I again experienced a loss of power. I was able to get it to the side of the road on the on ramp where it shut down completely and had to be towed. Due to the loss of power steering, I was almost hit by an oncoming vehicle headed in the opposite direction. The engine also hesitated after starting, the RPM's were spiking to 4K every few seconds and it was producing a clicking sound before my initial departure. The vehicle was towed to Moyer Ram in Lebanon, PA pending an evaluation. In the past, this vehicle was in the shop 4 times for almost getting me in an accident as the vehicle would lose speed and the RPM's would spike and slow the vehicle down to less than 30 miles per hour. This happened several times and despite a dispute pursuant to the lemon laws and multiple videos showing what was happening, they ruled against replacing the vehicle. At one point on a local interstate, while traveling over 65mph's, it was like it slipped into neutral, I lost speed rapidly and was almost rear ended by a tractor trailer. I still have that problem 1-2 times/month but they will do nothing about it and the mechanic couldn't replicate the problem while the dealer had it. Bottom line is I do not feel safe in this vehicle and it's an accident waiting to happen.

I believe it is related to the mild-Hybrid (eTorque) setup as this appears to only occur on those models of pickup trucks. Steps to reproduce: - Car sits all day outside my office in Virginia summer heat - Turn on car without A/C so the Start/Stop can engage. - Approach stop light and Start/Stop engages for the duration of the stop - After waiting ~4 minutes for the light to turn, when I release my foot from the brake there is a sharp jolt/lurch and the truck appears to stall or fall out of gear. There are times, where it will not fall completely out of gear, but will jolt violently from a stop as the engine restarts. - The instrument clusters displays "Shift to P and then desired gear" - After applying the break and following the above direction, the truck will resume normal operation Safety Concerns: While this happens to me at a stop light while turning onto a main road, there is nothing stopping this from happening when I attempt to accelerate into traffic or across a busy intersection without a light. Dealer Reproduction: The dealer is aware and has seen the truck many times, but has been unable to reproduce the issue. They have tried various PCM and TCM updates, but, so far, none have resolved the issue. Inspection: The dealer has inspected the vehicle and has found no trouble codes Other notes: - No warning messages or indications prior to this happening. I first noticed this at 34K miles and am now at 46K miles. - I am curious if this is related to: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCLRPT-23V265-2735.PDF but slightly less severe in that it doesn't happen while moving. Reports have indicated that cleaning the throttle body may offer some relief which would support this hypothesis. - I have and can provide video of my truck exhibiting these symptoms

I own a 2019 RAM 1500 and the instrument cluster has stopped illuminating. I conducted internet research and learned there is a pending recall for 1... Yes 1 RAM truck in the us with this issue. Eureka, I think I've located it! I called the recall phone number for fca and explained the situation. The call taker was unable to comprehend the issue and repeatedly told me I could not speak with a manager. The call taker hung up on me. I called back and spoke to a different representative and she would not allow me to speak to a manager either. This issue is associated with NHTSA campaign number 19V556000. I need this recall to be issued quickly so it can be fixed. According to various sites, the owner (I assume me) will be notified in early September. Maybe we can just take care of this now. I am concerned with the instrument cluster issue since it is the display center for my odometer, and all other warning systems on the vehicle. I have previously taken my vehicle to the dealership for periodic illuminated check engine lights. The first time I was told that the truck had no record of the check engine light ever being illuminated. I took it back after more illuminations kept continuing. The dealership kept the truck for a week and were finally able to troubleshoot the issue. I have also had issues with my rather large radio screen failing to turn on and / or work. Additionally, the brakes squeal like crazy. The dealership was unable to fix this issue and said it was just brake dust. The vehicle had only 2,000 or so miles on it at the time. I believe my truck only has about 3,200 miles on it right now, but I cannot really tell because I cant' see the odometer. I have read various complaints on this site regarding this Model and many of them apply to me as well.

The backlite window on my 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie (VIN: KN655467) has a recurring leak that has resulted in water intrusion into the vehicle. This water damage led to the failure of the Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component responsible for recognizing the key fob and enabling the vehicle to start. The issue has also resulted in corrosion to wiring harnesses and electrical components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This issue has put my safety at risk on multiple occasions. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize the key fob, rendering it completely inoperable. On two separate occasions, I was left stranded and had to have the vehicle towed. Additionally, electrical failures pose a fire hazard and could potentially affect other critical systems while the vehicle is in operation. The issue has been confirmed and reproduced by the authorized RAM dealership. The dealership determined that water intrusion from the backlite window caused the failure of the RF hub and other electrical components. Despite this, RAM/Stellantis has refused to replace the backlite window under warranty, only applying a temporary sealant fix that has repeatedly failed. The vehicle has been inspected by RAM dealership technicians multiple times. Each time, the dealership has confirmed water intrusion as the source of electrical failures. RAM/Stellantis has been made aware of the issue but refuses to properly address it. There were no warning lamps or messages before the initial failure. The first symptom appeared when the vehicle failed to recognize the key fob and would not start in November 2024. After the RF hub replacement, the issue reoccurred, requiring additional repairs. 2019 RAM classic big horn. It's been quite a Journey with this truck. First, about a month after I bought it (Feb 19) I noticed the bed was a couple of inches to the left of the cab. Turns out, it was the cab needing adjustment not the bed. Drove it for a year fine. 2 months ago I attempted to start and it was dead. The interior lights would work but it would not start'not even try to turn over. I disconnected the neg battery post and waited a few minutes, hooked it up and it started. Drove it for a couple days then, backing out of my garage it died'while moving it just died. It was on the way to the dealer for some warrenty paint repair so I figured I'd disconnect the battery again and drive it over. When I opened the door the alarm went off. Nothing I could do to turn it off. Could not turn the key to off and could not get the key out of the ignition. Pushing the buttons had no effect. Disconnecting the battery silenced the alarm. Had it towed to the dealer. They tried for two weeks to fix it. They changed the ignition module, and it didn't' work. They reprogramed the keys and it didn't work. They reprogramed 1 another new, different key and it didn't work. They programmed two new different keys and said that fixed it (makes no sense why the second key would help). It also doesn't make sense how the key fob malfunction would cause the vehicle to die when it's running. Picked up the truck and drove 200 miles. Then the next day it died while driving straight at 30 MPH, in the middle of an intersection. They clearly don't know what's going on with this thing and won't pay to tow it back to their shop. They want me to send it to a local small town dealer, 4 hours from home. I can barely get them to return my calls. The service rep says all they can do is have it towed to the closest dealer.

While driving the truck, driving 80mph on highway the truck disengaged from Drive to neutral, with a notice on the dash to pullover and shift to park to drive. When truck disengaged from Drive while in motion I lost all acceleration power, and had to coast over to side of road to a stop. The truck disengaged from Drive on 3 other occasions. I almost died when the truck disengaged from drive while makeing a turn through an intersection and almost getting hit my a tractor trailer. I contacted Dodge FCA, filed complaint, then i took the truck to the dealer and after having my truck for 22 days, they said I needed a new transmission on my 2019 ram 1500. The truck drove fine for 2 weeks then it disengaged from Drive again while driving, 2 times this morning. I contacted dodge fca and they said they couldn't do anything till the dealer looks at it. This is a major safety issue. I refuse to let my wife and kids ride in this truck because I am not going to have my wife and kids die in this truck because of these major safety issues. This is a known issue on all dodge ram online forums and dodge has not addressed this issue or acknowledged it. There is something wrong with the electrician system. I have had 2 batteries replaced, radio replaced, manifold, transmission, full tail light housing, active noise cancelation system fixed. There has been so many issues from day one when I bought the truck, but this MAJOR issue with the truck disengaging from drive to neutral while in motion is the most serious. Seems like dodge doesn't have an issue till someone dies in an accident from this issue, because this issue can not be replicated and doesn't not show up at a fault on the dealer test systems, due it everything in vehicles being computerized and digital. Something needs to be done about this

The RAM trailer brake controller has two problems, causing unsafe operation when connected to a camper or trailer with electric brakes. 1) When coming to a stop and feathering off the brake to stop smoothly, the trailer brakes are released too early, this causes the vehicle to be pushed forward, often into an intersection, pedestrian, or a vehicle opinion front of you! Care must be taken to avoid this! Alternatively, the trailer brake controller lever can be manually pressed to avoid the trailer brakes from being released early. The camper was tested by the camper dealer as OK This same camper does not have this problem if tested with other tow vehicles such as GMC, etc. 2) The RAM trailer brake controller does not output a full 12VDC to the connected trailer, even with the gain set to max (10) and full brakes are commanded either by the brake pedal, or the brake controller lever. This causes the trailer to not have full stopping powerm reducing the stopping distance, especially in an emergency stop. If the brake controller output is tested without a trailer connected, it will show 12V output. However, once a trailer is connected, the output drops to about 9.6 VDC. The camper has been tested by the camper dealer and was found to be ok. The camper was also tested with other brands of vehicles (Toyota, GMC, Chevrolet, Nissan), and no other vehicles except RAM exhibit this problem. This problem was also confirmed at a trailer dealer by using an independent trailer brake test meter (IPA #9107B Electric Brake Force Meter). The RAM has been taken to a RAM dealer multiple times since new, and each time the dealer said the RAM is working as designed. I have photos of the tests made on multiple RAM vehicles showing this issue, as well as other brands showing that they do not have the same issue.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11685480

Issue started with a "service shifter" warning at just shy of 3,000 miles, in January of 2019, and upon speaking to the dealership, they advised to shut off the truck and restart which cleared the "service shifter" warning. They said it was a glitch and that should remedy the issue. This issue became more frequent later (after manufacturers warranty ran out) It started leaving me stranded, sometimes for hours around 45,000 miles. Later, I suffered a multisystem failure and warnings that the truck was not in park, the shifter would not turn, truck would not start, and multiple other warnings. We were able to replace the battery which we thought had fixed the issue, but two weeks later it has done it again, and this time the battery disconnection for a period of days has not fixed the issue. I still owe two years on this truck and it has been a lemon. I have taken it to two dealerships, neither can fix my issue. I have done countless hours of research to address the issue. I am paying payments and do not have anything to drive. I need help with this issue. I have maintained the vehicle and have only put close to 60,000 miles on the truck. There is no logical reason I should be dealing with this many major issues that even the dealership can not seem to remedy. With such low miles and at only 7 years old, these issues should not be considered "routine maintenance" at the point in the truck's life. I believe this issue needs to be investigated, as I know many RAM owners who are facing the same issues that I am having, with no answers as of yet. I have been watching for recalls or statements from RAM, but nothing yet. Thank you for your time and careful considerations. I look forward to seeing a solution to my issues. Until then, I'll be stranded in Virginia, paying for transportation that can't be fixed.

On XXX, approx. 1615 hours, I was traveling EB on I70 in [XXX]. The cruise control was set at approximately 72MPH. I was in the left lane of travel and both my wife and I heard a revving noise and as I looked at the dashboard, I noticed the RPM gauge was high, I hit the brakes and started to go to the right lane and the entire vehicle shut down. All within a matter of 5-10 seconds. The dash indicated to put the truck in park to start it. I was able to make it to the shoulder and get the vehicle stopped and in park. I popped the hood and looked around the engine compartment. I saw no fluids leaking and no steam or smoke coming from the engine. I then attempted to restart the vehicle and it did absolutely nothing. Vehicle was towed to a RAM dealership, [XXX] CRJD in [XXX]. The did a cursory inspection ad determined that the engine was seized up but gave no indication as to the cause. Recommendation was to replace engine at a cost of nearly 18K dollars. Upon conducting further investigation on my own, I discovered that the Z46 recall of the HPFP, described with total accuracy what I experienced on the highway that day. The recall was performed on my vehicle on XXX. It is fully my belief that the fuel pump that was replace through the recall has now failed in the same manner as described in the recall and was the cause of the complete engine failure. I have notified the dealership of my findings and opinions, and they are unwilling to investigate further without direction from the manufacturer. Notified Service Manager, [XXX]. (XXX) 1302 hours On XXX (1310 hours) I notified the RAM Recall Team, [XXX], of the situation. He advised that it was to be escalated to case/claim and that I would be contacted by a case file agent. SUMMARY OF ISSUE: Water intrusion from a defective factory rear window seal flooded the Radio Frequency (RF) Hub module, causing severe, dangerous network communication (CAN bus) failures while driving. The removed RF Hub has been retained by the owner and is available for physical inspection upon request. SAFETY RISKS: Power steering repeatedly seizes/locks up while driving. Vehicle completely stalls and freezes in active intersections and at highway speeds on I-95. Instrument panel illuminates with all warning lights ("Christmas tree" dash) and prompts driver to "Put Vehicle in Park and Put Back in Drive" while actively moving in traffic. Vehicle experiences complete power loss, creating a severe rear-end collision hazard. TIMELINE & MILEAGE: 60,328 mi (Dec 2022): Initial electrical glitches reported to dealer prior to 100k warranty expiration. 92,733 mi (Sept 2024): Reported ongoing key fob loss, electrical anomalies, and TPMS drops. 168,492 km (~104,696 mi): Scanned multiple CAN bus "U-codes" (documentation available). 104,716 mi (Sept 22, 2025): Leaking rear window seal repaired by dealer. ~114,000 mi: Worsening symptoms and total vehicle stall. DEALER FAILURE & DENIAL: When repairing the window seal, the dealer failed to inspect for interior water damage or check underlying electronics. They refused to open/inspect the RF Hub, claimed they could not reproduce the intermittent issue, and are attempting to blame an unrelated "star connector." The owner opened the RF Hub casing and photographed clear galvanic solder corrosion and water damage directly under the leak point. Component has not been inspected by police, insurance, or manufacturer reps. PRIOR SYMPTOMS: Progressive TPMS loss, "Key Fob Not Detected" while driving, throttle surges at stops, parasitic battery drain, and full dash light warnings—worsening with humidity and rain.

1ST problem....steering column rattles loudly in-between 45 and 60 MPH and at speeds below 10MPH. Trucks front end grinds when making slow speed right hand turns. Also truck lurches, grinds and rattles the entire front end slowing down or backing up at slow speeds....this happens when brakes are not being applied. Sometimes when I drive the truck the steering wheel stays off center to the right and pulls very hard to the right. Chrysler says it possible the electronic power steering rack but they dont have a fix. Gets worse almost every day. 2ND problem....i have noticed the truck has marks where the knuckle and the lower control arm are hitting each other. I understand the need for steering stops but these are not steering stop hits. These parts are structural parts of the truck that are not supposed to hit. Both sides are doing this and I do not feel the truck is safe with this issue and it has caused stressed areas on the front end of the truck. This could cause parts to fail and have serious consequences at any speed the truck is going if they decide to fail. My truck has been to the dealership 4 times and was just dropped off again today. They said they May have to replace the parts that are hitting...but they are the same parts and it will do the same exact thing again. They gave me a 2019 RAM to drive as a loaner and this truck doesnt have the air suspension like mine does. I inspected under the truck and found the same exact issue on this truck. I believe Chrysler has a serious issue with these trucks that started with the design and they are not taking care of the issue. I have a $62,000 dollar truck I do not feel is safe and I am not getting answers to correct these issues. The date below is estimated when I took it to the dealership the first time. This has been an ongoing problem with no resolve from Chrysler

I purchased a 2019 RAM 1500 in June of 2019. In October of 2020 I got into the truck as I have done for over a year and started it up. As I put it in drive and begin to take my foot off the brake, the truck would auto-shift into park and cut the engine off. This continued to happen over and over again as I kept trying to put the truck in drive and go into motion. It even did it while trying to put it in reverse. I lmade sure all doors were shut, seat belt on, no e-brake and nothing was lit up on dash. The truck simply would not engage into drive and it was not user error. I had RAM road side assistance tow the vehicle to a local certified dealer with RAM technicians. This was on 10/16/20 and the truck was in the care of the RAM dealer until 10/19/20. They informed me that they could not replicate issue I experienced. I then took back possession of the truck. On 11/12/2020 I drove about a mile from my residence put the truck in park while running into a store. I drove the truck about 900 feet and the truck auto shifted to park while I was at speeds of 30MPH. The enigine cut off and the truck had to come to a complete stop before I was able to turn it back on as if I would if the truck was stopped. I pulled over and began driving again for several hundred feet. Again the truck shifted to park on its own while driving speeds of 30MPH. This happened two more times before being able to return to my residence and call for a tow. The car was towed to the same dealer and in their notes. The tow driver experienced the truck turning off on him while trying to back it off the truck. The dealer had the truck for several days but told me they could not replicate the issue which has now been experienced by me and the tow driver. Again I go back and take possession of the truck which is now more concerning because it is happening while driving and they can't fix it.

This has now happened 3 separate times. Once 1 month ago, my husband and I were on the connecting road from [XXX] toward [XXX] by the water plants stopped in traffic and the truck completely powered off at a red light. It took 30 seconds for the truck to power back on, and be restarted. It showed a check engine light the rest of the drive. The next time it turned on from being off there was no check engine light. Last week we were driving on a the main road toward our house going 30 miles per hour and coming up to a right turn then the truck stopped abruptly and died. It completely powered off and took 2 minutes to power back on. We were blocking a one lane road. It then showed a check engine light that went away after a few days. Today after getting ready to enter [XXX] going 55 miles per hour the truck showed a check engine light and the truck started to power down mid highway entrance and I had to try and pull off before it powered down completely. It took 5 minutes this time for the truck regain power enough to be restart fully. The check engine light is still on. It endangered both me and everyone behind me because I abruptly slowed down and risked not having anywhere to pull over on a highway. Every time it has failed I have been in the middle of a road, lane, highway/freeway. With no way to signal my truck has died and no way to move it. Police have not investigated this issue, no dealerships or shops have looked at this issue currently. The engine, powertrain, brakes, and electrical appear to be not functioning properly in these incidents but it is unknown of the root cause. There has been no other indication that this truck has had these issues or previous recalls for these incidents. This truck was bought from a dealership earlier this year without issue. I was driving on I-65 in indianapolis, in traffic, when my engine abruptly shut off and the ignition mode switched from run to acc. This caused me to lose all propulsion power and I was forced to Cross lanes to get over to the right shoulder. Luckily, I was still a mile or two from the upcoming construction zone, which would have prevented me from being able to pull off onto a shoulder. Because the engine had shut off while the truck was moving, the computer system is programmed to shift the transmission into park, but because I was going 70MPH on the highway (>5MPH according to my user manual), it just alerted me that my engine was off and that I was in acc mode. After parking the truck on the shoulder with hazards on, I turned the engine off and waited a few seconds before trying to start it again. When I pressed the brake and the ignition button, the truck started up immediately, like normal, but then 2 seconds later it cut out again with the same run-to-acc mode switch. This happened 6-7 more times before the truck somehow stayed on run. I checked the engine and my fluids for anything odd, but mechanically, the truck was fine. No check engine or warning lights ever came on. The computer system didn't recognize that anything was wrong other than the initial indication. I was able to get home without issues after that, but when I went to turn the engine off, I couldn't. The ignition button had stopped responding. I tried all of the user manual's methods to turn it off, but nothing worked. This vehicle doesn't have a manual key ignition override, just the fob and keyless button, neither of which could turn the engine off. The fob's remote start/shutoff didn't work either. In the end, I had to disconnect the battery to force the engine and computer system to turn off. I'm taking it into the local dealer, via tow if it won't start again, to figure out what happened.

The 4wd has never worked in my 2019 Ram 1500. I bought the truck in November of the same year, I tried to engage the 4wd with the snow that year and it would not engage. Notification showed service 4wd, I took it to a ram dealer in South Carolina where I worked out of town they had it for two days and they informed me they didn't know what was wrong with it. I then took it to the dealer at home they kept it overnight and installed a new actuator. It engaged the first time and then back to service 4wd. This time was different it stayed in neutral, I turned the emergency brake on and turned the truck off. The dial tried to return to park but couldn't so with the truck off and Ebrake applied I had to have a tow service pick it up and take to the dealer. I then scheduled an appointment with the dealer I purchased it from and they said they updated the software and it was working. I tried to engage the 4wd in the parking lot and it still showed service light. They kept the truck for two days and said a gear in the transfer case was bad and I had to pay $1,000 to fix it. But the same year truck has a recall for the same issue I'm having. I declined the service due to an active recall. About a week later the power steering wasn't working right. When I was doing highway speed and would turn left it was like I had to fight it back into the lane, but only while turning left. I then took it to a mechanic and he said the truck was clearly over steering from the wear marks and that the R&P looked good no leaks but it may be the rack. So I looked at the active recalls and sure enough there is an active recall for the same year truck for electronic power steering and the transfer case but when entering my VIN it says my truck has zero recalls? I really hope something can be done I've lost my job due to cardiac arrest and used my 401k to pay the lein off just to have all these issues. Thank you

Vehicle: 2019 Ram 1500 Mileage at Time of Incident: Approximately 88,000 miles The vehicle experienced an intermittent failure of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. While operating the vehicle, a "Power Steering Unavailable" warning message appeared, resulting in a loss of power steering assist and significantly increased steering effort. The condition occurred unexpectedly and created a safety risk by reducing the driver's ability to safely maneuver and control the vehicle, particularly during low-speed operation, turning movements, and emergency maneuvers. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ram dealership (Lander's Dodge Chrysler Jeep Bossier City, LA.) Diagnostic testing identified Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C2217, which the dealership stated indicates an internal failure of the Electric Power Steering system and/or steering rack assembly. The dealer recommended replacement of the rack and pinion assembly for $2,600 BUT the part was on back order and could take 4 months or more before the part comes in. I'm at a loss. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. The defect placed the driver and other motorists at risk because steering effort increased unexpectedly, reducing vehicle controllability. No prior collision or damage is known to have caused the failure. The dealership has confirmed the condition through diagnostic testing. Manufacturer inspection is UNKNOWN. Police involvement is UNKNOWN. Insurance inspection is UNKNOWN. Prior symptoms included an intermittent "Power Steering Unavailable" warning message. The exact date of the first occurrence is approximately 6 months ago, but after sitting overnight the message disappeared and there was no problem. It happens sporadically. Based on the diagnostic findings and dealer assessment, the apparent cause of the incident is an internal failure of the Electric Power Steering system associated with DTC C2217.

- I like to report that my Ram 1500 Classic has been having issues with steering since March 2025. I had around at that time 78k miles on the truck give or take. I took the truck to the dealership where I purchased it (Brown Daub Easton PA). They claimed that everything I told them about the Truck was perfectly fine and they had multiple people test drive the truck with no issues. I explained that the steering would be very hard to execute a turn left or right and at times it would even feel like it "skipped" in the steering. I can tell I have slightly new wheels at the time of this issue. The only thing they noted was my rear passenger tire tread was a little more worn compared to the other three. I took the Truck home very disappointed and the problem actually seem like it went away for a few days. Then the problem began to show again and the turning aspect is becoming more difficult. Recently while driving on the interstate my steering was affected just changing lanes at 65 mph where the need to use both hands was troublesome. The truck itself had jolt where I never encountered. - - I believe that driving this truck is very dangerous and taken it to the dealership where I have a warranty appears to be impossible to identify the root issue. - I have only taken it to the dealership once and its scheduled to go back to the home dealership on the 12th of this month for another check. -There are no warning lamps/messages. Problem recently started in March 2025 at or above 78k miles. - I believe that the issue could be related to the power steering motor or the Electronic power steering noted on this site. The examples or causes fall very close to the same feeling I get while driving this vehicle. This is my first experience where I have noticed a loss of power steering in driving 28 years of driving various pick up trucks be my own, military grade trucks, and work trucks. Thank you.

Engine failure after fuel pump recall replacement(37,500 miles). My fuel pump had a mandatory recall. I drove my truck in and everything was running perfect. I drove the truck less than 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement recal and it started to make nocking sounds and the gas was lagging , not accelerating normal. The gears were not shifting normal but rather jerking in and out of gears at different RPM's. I was on the highway in CA and I was scared that I was gonna hit someone or be hit myself from the gas lag and jerky shifting. I drove back into the dealership again 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement. I was charged $288 dollars for them to tell me I needed a new engine. No engine lights or warnings. Now 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement and 2 months out of warranty they wanted $22,000 to replace my engine. They said they would do me a favor and replace it for $4300 since I was 2 months and 1500 miles past my warranty. Now I'm left without a truck 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement. I couldn't afford a rental car and they didn't have any for me to rent at the dealership. I was soon fired from my job as I was scrambling to find $4300 just laying around. Now I don't have a job and $4300 plus $288 in debt on my credit card at 22% interest. These same fuel pumps have already had class action lawsuits on them for earlier models. Metal shavings were being produced within the fuel system. The other problem being reported was over heating from the connector rod to the crankshaft. The connection was overheating and causing bearings at the connection to fail. Once that happens 1 or more cylinders stop pumping correctly and the engine blows. So there are 2 possibilities for this engine failure. I am certain that my car was damaged by 1 or both of these poor engineering mistakes. They could have hurt or killed someone and they are hiding the real problem until they get caught.

Vehicle steering sticks during left turns at highway speeds. After vehicle has been driven for approx 1 hour, during left turns at highway speeds, 65+ MPH, the steering will hold at approximately the 10 o'clock position resulting in unpredictable and unsafe driving conditions. Due to the requirement of highway speeds and approx 1 hr drive time, dealerships won't take the effort to be able to replicate this safety issue. Without replication both the dealership and RAM customer service consider it a non issue. This issue is not related to the ground recall already issued for the 2019 rams. This safety issue is also reported by numerous other 2019 RAM owners in online forums. Efforts to get this issue resolved through the dealership and RAM customer support have been unsatisfactory. This is not a minor problem and could result in serious damage or loss of life on the road. Just because a problem cannot be replicated in a short test drive does not equate to their not being a major safety concern on these vehicles.*dt consumer had the recall performed and the steering problem is still present. When the steering wheel sticks you have to apply some extra force to get it to return to center as well as sometimes it will hold momentarily and jerk back on its own. The concern is the unpredictability of it and the potential over/under steer at higher speeds. Once the problem presents itself after longer periods of driving it will also then do it occasionally at slower speeds as well. There have not been any chimes or messages that appear on the instrument panel. It has been in to service but they have been unable to replicate. Unfortunately this issue has only appeared during longer road trips at interstate speeds with long left turns so it is unlikely a dealer would be able to replicate it on a short test drive. I know from the forums that people with similar issues have had it resolved with the replacement of the steering rack. *Jb

On 06-06-2021 my wife, daughter and Me and our three dogs, was heading to are first destination on are 2 week vacation pulling are camper. In about 150 miles into the trip started smelling diesel, pulled over on a narrow 2 lane road couldn’t see anything. So my wife found a road we could pull off on to check everything out a mile away, right before we made it to the road a (service electronic throttle) message came on, so made it to the road to pull off stoped and instantly smoke started bellowing out from the back of the hood. I hopped out and started feeling something burning my legs looked down and saw liquid aluminum dripping and yelled from everyone to get out, by to time we got everyone out the whole front of the truck way fully on the so I got what I could get out and my wife was on the phone with 911. Knowing that the fire department is 20 minutes out I needed to save the camper. Fire is past the fire wall now, pull the panel for the emergency release to put the transmission in neutral one of the airbags blew up in my face and couldn’t get it out of park. So somehow I shook the truck and camper enough to get the pin out of the hitch and somehow someone drove by and asked them could they help me pull the camper away, and we hooked a chain and pulled it away. 24 minutes later the fire department arrived and everything I saved from the truck was in the grass and burned up to hot to get close to get. So 24 minutes of hell was just starting legs, hand burned and contacts burned can’t see well and back thumping. Calling everyone like Ram, insurance company no one will help. So the volunteer fire department pulled are camper to their fire station and stayed the night there until are family could pull us back home. Then the nightmare of dealing with the scummy progressive fight for almost 3 months that would not pay market value the time of the incident and somehow took over my claim I had. I have videos and pictures of the fire.

My 2019 Ram truck has less than 41,900 miles on it.I drove it Thursday morning, but then was stranded. The vehicle wouldn’t unlock, lock, or start. Upon entering using the manual key, the vehicle wouldn’t recognize my key fob. My second key fob would not work either. I called a locksmith to see if he could reset the computer, but he couldn’t. So I called a tow truck. After giving them $100, the dealer couldn’t look at it for several days. Meanwhile I’m stranded without a vehicle. Luckily not in the remote wilderness. My truck sat for a week. The dealer called and said the RF Hub was bad. The RF Hub controls everything from the key fobs, ignition, alarm, brakes, door locks, all electronics, etc. $605 now paid to the dealer for them to replace this RF Hub that is mounted on the back wall of the cab under the rear window. Had this been in the middle of winter, or when I was at high altitude in the mountains last fall it could be a life or death situation.Being locked out and unable to move a vehicle, being stranded is dangerous. Particularly with health issues. What the dealer didn’t do is correct the problem. The back window frame on these Rams breaks and then leaks water into the cab.The leak shorts out the electrical equipment behind the rear seat.Thankfully it didn’t start a fire. A google search of the issue finds hundreds of complaints about the rear windows in these trucks. Imagine a young mother with little children out on the road when the vehicle leaks enough to fry the RF Hub! The Ram dealer charged me to replace the RF Hub, but didn’t bother to fix the problem with the rear window. I am taking it upon myself to attempt to stop the leak before I get stranded again because of fried electronics because of their faulty design. I have attached pictures of the problem. After paying the locksmith, tow, dealer, and pulling out the rear seats, drying all of the carpet, it is clear to see the problem with the rear window. Recall this.

My truck was parked in my driveway for several weeks while away from home, I arrived the water pulling into my floor board and the front driver side and running down the top of my headliner into the back seat, also my belongings and leather seats along with the majority of the interior was covered in mold and mildew leaving a foul odor and it stains. I cleaned it up still has a leak, going back on that my rear driver side tail light started filling up with water causing the tail light and module to go bad, whereas a message would pop up on my dash for blind spot not available service required and immediately afterwards my infotainment Center touch screen would go black the rest of my lights on the controls would flash and the vehicle would default to heat I could not roll my front windows down or control the climate in the vehicle until I replaced the tail light with another module, I'm not sure or it is unknown whether or not the water getting into the cab on my truck or the tail light filling with with water was the culprit, I've had numerous electrical issues with his vehicle and as well problems with the power steering before where it went out on me all together while driving 75 mph on the highway, my brakes did not retract when service at a shop and I had to buy two rear brake calipers and rotors to fix the problem because the Pistons from the automatic park brake which is also controlled by the infotainment Center as far as I understand did not retract and caused my rotors to be eaten away prematurely. If anyone's reading this I have plenty of complaints about this vehicle for the price I paid, if one thing after another from the four-wheel drive system to the traction control to the air suspension all the way to the electronics I fix one thing and something else pops up, I've seen numerous Threads Online where hundreds of people have had the same or similar issues and honestly every single one can affect the safety of the vehicle.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION

71 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11662767

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The issue involved the truck’s parking and collision avoidance systems, which suddenly shut off. A warning message appeared on the dashboard stating "Service Shifter." This issue may be related to the electronic shifter module or associated control systems. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -The sudden deactivation of both the parking and collision systems while the vehicle was in motion created a serious safety hazard. Without collision avoidance functionality and the ability to securely park the vehicle, there was increased risk of unintentional vehicle movement or inability to avoid obstacles, which could have led to a crash or injury. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -Yes, the truck was taken to an authorized dealer for assessment, and the issue was confirmed. Diagnostic tests found trouble codes starting with "U", which typically indicate a communication or control module fault within the vehicle’s network. The codes provided from the dealer are U0159, U0140, U0100, U0137, U0102, U10121, and U0101. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -The issue has been inspected and documented by the dealership. There is no indication that police or insurance representatives have inspected it at this time, but the incident and diagnostics are recorded in the dealer’s service records. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -Yes, a warning message "Service Shifter" appeared on the dashboard. This message coincided with the shutdown of the parking and collision systems. These symptoms appeared suddenly and without prior warning during regular vehicle operation.

Brake system failure

WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES

82 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11736410

Initially while taking a corner at low speed the truck made a clunk and grinding noise which resolved and then while going about 50 mph the grinding noise recurred which prompted stopping the vehicle on the side of the road and when almost to a stop, the wheels locked up causing a slight skid; the vehicle was in 4-wheel auto at the time and with change between 4wd and 2wd serveral times the front tires unlocked and i was able to drive it again. About 4 days later, while driving 70 mph, the vehicle started to make a grinding noise on the interstate, and I started to slow down, but unfortunately, I was on the left side of the highway on a narrow shoulder, and upon getting to a lower speed while in 2WD, my front axle locked up. I placed the vehicle in park, but due to safety concerns, I put the truck back in drive and tried to switch from 2WD to 4WD to unlock the axle, but unfortunately, the truck would not change gears. I then had to quickly get the vehicle to the other side during a time with fewer vehicles, while the left front tire was locked, and I had to drag it across the highway to ensure my safety. The left front tire remained locked, and after multiple attempts, the brake partially unlocked but continued to make a grinding and clunking noise. After some diagnostics, we determined the left front wheel hub was the issue, overheating and locking up. I reached out to mechanics for quotes on repair of said part, and upon reaching out to the dealer that I have used in the past for recalls and oil changes, I was informed there was a recall on said part/software that I was not aware of; the service rep used the last 8 of my VIN to look up my vehicle for the quote and provided the details about the recall. I use the RAM Guardian App which provides updates about recalls and upon checking it does not show a recall nor does it show a recall when i search my VIN and License Plate on the website. This seems to be a common issue based on customer reviews.

Engine failure

ENGINE

39 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11580151

There is a ticking noise I hear when the truck is first started and it is very obvious until the engine warms up and then it is less noticeable. I also noticed a decrease in fuel mileage. I had a mechanic look at it and he told me that the right side exhaust manifold was cracked. I ordered the right side manifold and new bolts and had the mechanic install them for me. Once it was installed when we started the truck the noise was still present but not as loud. I had him look at it again thinking that maybe the install was not done correctly and he said the left one was cracked as well. He showed me the crack. I got online and tried to order the left manifold but it was backordered. I told him that I couldn't find one and that I was on a waitlist at one of the dealerships for it. He told me I needed to try to get it ordered as soon as possible because further cracking could cause issues in the engine and cause a catastrophic event and ruin the engine. A year and a half later there are still no parts available. Upon further investigation I have found that this is a common event for these engines and has been for a very long time. The reason the parts are on backorder is because it is happening to most of the trucks with these engines. Also there is not a replacement part that fixes this issue so there are lots of posts online about it happening a second time after replacing the cracked manifold. The only alternative is to change the OEM manifolds out for shorty headers, which is a lot more expensive, and from the looks of it they are on backorder as well now. It's also a safety hazard because all the exhaust fumes leaking out can get into the cabin and cause carbon monoxide poisoning, accidents, deaths, etc. This is unacceptable. A recall needs to be issued and these vehicles need to be repaired at Chrysler's expense no matter the mileage. The worst part is that people agreeing to repair it can't because the parts are on an extended backorder with no ETA.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11501132

Vehicle powertrain, engine, and electrical systems, including brake, power steering, and dashboard systems completely shut down (were completely 'black'/off) on three separate occasions - two of which occurred while operating the vehicle. The first occurred while driving on a public/local road in early Dec 2022. Although all systems lost power and were unresponsive, I was able to coast the vehicle to the shoulder without impacting moving vehicles or fixed objects. The vehicle was towed to a Ram Service provider where the issue was investigated for approximately 10-days. The reason for mechanical failure could not be determined, however, they replaced the battery and key fob as precautionary measures - partially at my cost. The basic warrantee expired approximately 3,000 miles before servicing, however the powertrain warrantee is still valid. The second instance was today, 1/10/23, when I parked the car. The shutdown occurred while stationary and in 'park'. After leaving the vehicle for about 30 minutes, it started again without explanation. I reported the incident to the Ram Service provider and began to drive it to the service provider. Upon arrival, it was suggested that I return on Monday, January 23 for the issue to be investigated on the 24th. While driving to my home today, 1/10/23, the vehicle lost all power and was nearly completely unresponsive. I was operating the vehicle at speeds in excess of 65MPH on a 6-lane divided highway with minimal shoulder. Again, I was able to coast the vehicle to the narrow shoulder where it was eventually towed from and to the Ram Service provider where the issue remains under investigation. The photos, taken today, 1/10/23, show the location where I was able to park the vehicle from the highway and the narrowness of the shoulder, and the tachometer and speedometer which show the speedometer and tachometer 'frozen' and still displaying RPMs/speed from before the shutdown. Notice no warning lights appeared.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11516218

I bought a 2019 Ram July of 2022 - I drove it home and pick up my dad to drive my old truck back (didn’t trade it in), as I was pulling up to the dealership, I experienced a huge safety issue with the truck continuing to accelerate after multiple alarms were flashing on my dash - service electronic stable control, service electronic throttle control, parking break - along with others. I pulled it into the dealership and the salesman who sold me the truck just happened to be outside - pulled up and told him I wasn’t shutting this off until we get something hooked up to it to see what the issue is.. they hooked it up and it threw a code for Traction control (I believe). They ended up keeping the truck for a week - then they said they replace a relay and the found a pinched wire…. So this happened at 32,000 miles.. Now almost a year later, the exact same thing happened tonight on Easter while I had my entire family in my truck! Went over a couple bumps on a rough corner of a road about 30 foot from a stop sign. My dash lit up like a Christmas tree with multiple alarms popping up and the truck continued to accelerate through the stop sign! I ended up getting the truck stopped in the middle of the intersection after I realized what just happened, luckily there was no one in front of me or at any of the stop signs as I went through! I was only 2 miles from mg house, so I took it slow, but the truck continued to accelerate each time I took my foot off the break! It was like hitting resume on your cruise control on the interstate after you slowed down. Finally made it home and took pictures of the alarms that were still present. Let my truck sit there for about an hour and started it up and it shows no messages stored but the check engine light is on. If tonight happened at a busier intersection, I could have put my family in a life-threatening situation! I have to other ways of transportation, I am taking a risk and putting others at risk driving to work.

Powertrain / transmission failure

POWER TRAIN

20 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11727381

Transmission won't go into reverse at times, auto shifting back to park before check engine light comes on. Vehicle initially started with hard shifts at low speeds about 25 mph. Issue progressed to the point where vehicle has to be put into reverse. Otherwise vehicle would not shift at the same point about 25 mph and would be stuck in the low gear until vehicle is shut off and restarted then put into reverse before proceeding. The issue has continued to grow where shifting into reverse causes the vehicle to noticeably lurch back with a very heavy thunk before putting it into drive. Reverse takes time engaging. However the issue will persist and it will not go into reverse before Auto shifting to park and the check engine light comes on. Vehicle would drive for a little while before the transmission would stop shifting and go into limp mode where I wouldn't be able to drive over 30 miles per hour without very high RPMs. During some of those times the vehicle would take a long time before the transmission would engage and shift which would cause the vehicle to jerk abruptly forward. And at times back tires have lost traction. Recently the vehicles transmission has disengaged entirely while driving. At times it'll be 40 mph where it will disengage or in one case about 15 mph as I was making a turn and in the intersection it disengaged. First time the vehicle went to a dealership. They were unable to replicate the problem and that was approximately 30,000 mi on the odometer. The second time it went in with the issue it was diagnosed as being a service bulletin which was then updated and issue remained. The third time it was brought in there was a code that showed that the clutch gear ratio was incorrect. Mechanics have said the vehicle needs a new transmission and this has been a known issue with the 8-speed 8 HP75 by ZF transmissions. Transmission has also surged and lunged while braking at various points. While completely stopped, vehicle has lurched forward.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

63 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11643202

I am experiencing an Antilock Braking System ('ABS') control module software malfunction that disables the Electronic Stability Control ('ESC') system. Last fall Sept 2024 was the first incident. I was driving back one night to my cabin construction project in Somerset, PA. It rained earlier in the day and everything was wet. I was almost back to the site, my dash lights started wildly flashing. The ESC SYSTEM OFF displayed, the (ABS) light illuminated along with SERVICE THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. The front passenger side tire started to shake, just as I was trying to avoid a large pothole around a bend. My truck slid straight across it and slammed my front end down in the ditch. I had NO CONTROL. It caused my side airbags to deploy and the seatbelts to lock up. I drove out of the ditch, the truck was ok. I was close so i drove to the cabin. The next morning I inspected everything, in addition: the front bumper was bent, fog light hanging, wheel well was bent, and there were a lot of scratches. I am a small business owner, I didn't want my insurance to go up, and was waiting until I could afford to fix it. The latest incidents were during the last two weeks. First, I was driving on a 70 MPH highway, suddenly service air pressure system displayed and passenger tire pressure went to “0”, the ABS and ESC warnings displayed, and that tire started shaking. I pulled over to check the tire thinking I had a flat , but it was fully inflated. I turned off the truck, waited 5 mins then started it back up, "fixed" then drove home. Since then, the truck is randomly locking that brake, while I'm driving. THREE separate times it has locked up. I thought I was dragging something one day as I was backing up. Next day I was backing out of my driveway quickly and it caused me to slide into the road. I test drove away slowly, seemed fine. I went through the three stop signs to get out of my plan. It locked up at the third stop sign, as i turned right almost threw me into the sign.

On 07-20-22 I was driving home from work in the evening around 5:45 pm, out of nothing, i noticed my temp gauge starting to rise. It rose up to alarm level (overheating). I slowed down and pulled over, and noticed the temp gauge starting to drop down to below overheating but still above normal. Note: I live 4.7 mile away from work and the highest speed limit on my way home is 55mph. I limped slowly with the truck while paying attention to the temp gauge until i pulled up in my drive way. When I opened the door of the truck, i was hit by a huge cloud of white smoke coming from underneath the truck. I shut off the truck and moved away quickly. I noticed a reddish fluid coming from underneath the truck. I could not tell what it was at the beginning but it was oily. Later on I realized it was transmission fluid mixed coolant. Note: transmission fluid is flammable. Due to distance of 4.7 miles distance to my house the truck (exhaust) had not warmed up enough to ignite the transmission fluid. It was later identified by Mike Shaw dealership in Greeley CO, that the heat exchanger (from the radiator) on the transmission body had failed and transmission fluid and coolant mixed rendering the whole transmission void. I was lucky i drive a short distance otherwise the truck would have caught on fire. The truck was towed from my drive to the dealership by my insurance. I am raising the concern because i saw a report by a 2019 Ram owner on your website who had the same experience and unlucky to him, his truck caught fire and burnt down. See January 5, 2022 report NHTSA NUMBER 114446344. I bought the truck brand new on January 1, 2019 in Greeley CO. I am the only owner and driven mostly home to work and occasional trip, very minimal towing averaging twice a year. My truck has little over 70k mile on it. Today, over a month after the incidence i am still waiting to receive the truck from FCA/Dealership back. I was promised to have it back over a week ago. And, cost is going up.

SEE FULL COMPLAINT NOTES IN ATTACHED PDF; SUMMARY HERE (you do not provide sufficient space to provide all info you request) I own a 2019 Ram 1500 4WD Limited (not eTorque). On multiple occasions, the vehicle has unexpectedly shifted out of Drive into Neutral while driving. When this occurs, a warning chime dings and a message on display directs me to “Shift to Park”. The vehicle immediately loses forward power (because it has shifted itself to Neutral), until I come to a complete stop, shift to Park, and then shift back to Drive to move forward. Usually the engine stays on, but on at least one occasion the engine turned off and I had to restart. This has happened at least five times total, including three times within the past month. The events have occurred while decelerating to a stop, braking but not stopping, and accelerating from a slow down. Each time, I experienced a sudden and unexpected loss of propulsion, requiring me to stop the vehicle in traffic, shift fully into Park, and then reselect Drive before the vehicle would move again. These incidents have occurred in active traffic situations and have placed me and others at risk of a collision due to the sudden loss of power (SEE DETAILS IN PDF). I previously brought the vehicle to a dealer for this issue after it had just occurred (~1 year ago, before the recent increase in frequency); however, the dealer stated that the vehicle did not throw a code, or no code was stored. They could not replicate the problem and no repair was made. There are at least 55 NHTSA complaints filed that appear the same as my issue; none appear to have been resolved by dealers or RAM. This appears to be a systemic safety defect involving the powertrain and electronic shifting system. The unexpected loss of propulsion in traffic presents a serious risk of injury or death. I am submitting this complaint due to the ongoing and unresolved safety concern. I am scared to drive my family in my vehicle until it is known to be fixed.

Hemi 5.7L ticking. Took the truck to another mechanic to assess and the engine is filled with metal shavings from a failed assembly at 50k miles. A power train assembly should get at minimum 100k miles before any issues would arrive. A STAR report has been generated on this very issue. However, we purchased this vehicle used with 91 miles on the odometer as it was listed as the previous owner being the manufacturer itself and was used and moved around from showroom to showroom as a floor model. We have no warranty and now must replace the entire engine due to the metal shavings found throughout the engine. Cost to replace is 10k+ which is horrifying an engine must be replaced at 50K miles due to a known product design flaw causing so many of us to experience the same exact issue around 50k miles. Fiat only replaces those under warranty with the same flawed/defective part only to have the same issue reappear...that to me means the part design is flawed. Both of our mechanics said this is a known defect that many of their customers have experienced. Our check engine light came on prior to a scheduled visit to our mechanic on July 8 as we were hearing a ticking noise. Magically, the morning of the 8th when I first went start the truck to take to our mechanic regarding the light the light was not on any longer. We still attended the appointment to check out the tick. He recommended engine replacement. When I left the mechanics and got 5 miles down the road the check engine light came back on. Since then we took to another mechanic who dismantled the engine somewhat to check the lifter assembly and sure enough there it was, completely disintegrated, hanging on by a thread left of an actual bolt, metal shavings in the oil pan too. He indicated to us that when that small thread left from the bolt finally failed the engine would seize up and we would lose power immediately. Extremely dangerous at highway speeds or driving up and down the mountainous areas.

Driving 60mph in 8th gear while raining, 40 deg F, in Minnesota. The truck shut off (I did not press the Start/Stop button) and dash said "Vehicle Not in Park." Went to pull over, put on turn signals, but they didn't work (it acted like the vehicle was completely shut off but was still rolling at 50+ mph in 8th gear - there was no indication on the dash that showed green light indicating turn signal was working). I suspect brake lights also did not work at this time, but cannot confirm because I couldn't see them. I pulled over to shoulder, slowed to a stop, and put vehicle into Park manually. Pressed Stop/Start button and vehicle started. No codes were thrown. Drove another 2-3 miles and similar issue happened again. Display flashed on and off (then completely turned off) when coming to a stop this time. Vehicle stayed running but again said "Vehicle Not in Park" on dash. No other indication on dash (no warning lights). Drove vehicle back to dealership to get inspected. Similar issue occurred 4 more times on the 12 mile drive to dealership. When I got the vehicle into the service shop, I put it into Park, then pressed the Start/Stop button, but the truck would not shut off. I left the vehicle with the dealer and they are currently diagnosing the issue. 105,000 miles on vehicle. First time this issue has ever occurred on the Ram since I bought it used with 67,000 miles on it. Scared the heck out of me - I had cars swerve around me as I pulled off to the shoulder without any indication - no brake lights (I assume), no turn signals. Very scary. I am worried about driving my family (wife and 2 young children) in this vehicle. What has scared me even more is I looked up this issue online and I have found 100s of examples in the forums of similar (or exactly the same) issue happening to them! I have had all recalls completed on my truck and keep meticulous care of it. I am an engineer and understand technical details well - this electrical issue scares me. Not safe.

A recall will only be issued for safety concerns. A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) will be issued for known problems which are not a safety concern. A TSB isn't required to be repaired, so many times they aren't checked or fixed unless the consumer reports the problem. Likewise, if not addressed during the warranty period, they are typically* up to you to fix and/or pay for. (* more on this below) This is unlike a recall which will have safety implications and thus it must be repaired regardless of model year or mileage. This is why they send things out in the mail urging you to have the vehicle inspected/repaired. This covers them against legal claims if the affected part fails and causes injury/death. Don't confuse a "recalled" item with a known defect. They are two very different things. FCA well knows it's a common problem and they've got a TSB on it However, a leaking window/roof does not pose a safety concern so there isn't a recall for it. That doesn't mean it's not a known defect. With this being a known issue it makes it extremely difficult for FCA to claim i have a flooding problem that i caused. They know there's a potential for the leak resulting from a manufacturer defect and they're actively repairing that very issue on my truck. This defect is known to cause the rear seat area to accumulate water/moisture. This also If this leak is a known issue, then shouldn't the etorque system be shielded from the potential risk of water exposure? That's not on me I didn't alter the vehicle, drive through deep water, or somehow create damage to the covered part. It's a manufacturer defect plain and simple. It happens to be where the etorque battery is located. Water is obviously bad for electronics. Therefore the logical and reasonable person would conclude that the defect has cause the failure of the etorque system. So what about that warranty. Obviously the leak is outside the 3 year/36K mile warranty. However a vehicle warranty guarantees (or "warrants") th

Yes, a failing EGR cooler can indirectly affect the exhaust pressure control valve by disrupting the normal exhaust gas flow, potentially causing the valve to operate outside its intended parameters due to abnormal pressure fluctuations in the exhaust manifold, leading to potential issues with engine performance and emissions control. Explanation: Pressure imbalances: When an EGR cooler fails, it can leak coolant into the exhaust system, which creates steam and disrupts the normal exhaust gas flow, leading to uneven pressure changes in the exhaust manifold. EGR valve response: The exhaust pressure control valve (often part of the EGR system) relies on a specific pressure differential to regulate the flow of exhaust gas back into the engine. If the pressure in the exhaust manifold is significantly altered due to a failing EGR cooler, the valve may not function optimally. Potential consequences: Reduced engine performance: Incorrect EGR flow due to pressure fluctuations can lead to reduced power and poor acceleration. Increased emissions: Improper EGR function can result in higher emissions levels. Check engine light: A failing EGR cooler often triggers a check engine light due to the engine's inability to maintain optimal operating parameters. Key points to remember: While an EGR cooler failure directly impacts the coolant system, its effects can cascade to affect the exhaust pressure control valve due to the altered exhaust gas dynamics. If you suspect an EGR cooler problem, it's crucial to have it inspected and repaired promptly to prevent further complications with other components like the exhaust pressure control valve. The information that is above details why when the EGR cooler was recalled by mopar and then fixed is most likely the reason that caused my sensor to fail. The dealership where the recall repairs are being done is trying to charge me almost $1500.00 dollars to replace them even though they are directly related to the recall. ( 19V-757)

The vehicle loses power unexpectedly without triggering a MIF indicator or logging a OBDII diagnostic code. The problem is the crankshaft position sensor temporarily fails causing the vehicle to stall, in my case, in stop and go traffic, which caused an accident. Once the 'Heat Soak' effect passes, the vehicle start and drives normally again. The fix, to preventing it from happening again and solving the heat soak problem, is to replace the crankshaft position sensor with an OEM part which is less susceptible to the ambient heat (heat soak) due the proximity to the exhaust manifold. And, to have the software in the PCM 'Flashed' or upgraded to allow for a greater signal tolerance from the crankshaft position sensor. The problem and fix where confirmed by Auto-Nation Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, [XXX], where I purchased the OEM part and had their service department 'Flash' the PCM for the software upgrade. The service department and the parts clerk agreed that TSB 18-020-26 applied, dated XXX. Upon further research I discovered a recall report: 18v-049 Part 573 Safety recall report. It is proof FCA US LLC (Manufacturer of my 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 Classic) knew about the problem with the Pentastar 3.6L engine. The same 3.6L engine in the recall. Or, they should have know about the potential problem. Although my vehicle was not part of the 18v-049 recall, it has the same 3.6L engine and exhibited the same engineering shortcomings as the recalled engine? As a concerned citizen I felt compelled to bring the public safety problem to your attention, even though I feel I am not the only one who has complained about the problem. And, because I feel strongly about this, I am planning to file suite in small claim court against the manufacture: FCA US LLC. I would like to update your office with a copy of the filing as soon as I am issued a court date. Thank you for your time and consideration. Rear Window seal and Fin on top of roof failed causing large amounts of water to enter the car cabin flooding the floor around electrical components under passenger seat area and elsewhere,Floor was sopping wet many times before I found out there was a rear window problem.I fear since I live in tropical Florida Mold may be growing under my carpet ,plus we had a bad smell like nasty old cigars in the cabin when we get in ,No one smokes in my family..I took it to the dealer for repair who stated yes we know about it ,it is a common problem and we can fix it but it is not covered under warranty,I paid $183.84 to have the dealer repair my leaks as I was concerned about a fire from electrical wires shorting out. After they fixed it there repair causes water to flow from the dirty roof down the back of my rear tinted window causing me a loss of visibility out my rear window unless i climb in the back of my truck bed and clean my rear window regularly. Which is very hard for a [XXX] man who has had a spinal fusion to do .Because this repair they made fills in the water channel that moves the water to the sides of the windows and off the truck sides ,it now flows like niagara falls over the back of my window from the top of the roof causing a constant dirty window that blocks my vision on a tinted window worse than a normal window and is a safety hazard .The window was designed to channel the water to the sides to prevent that problem and keep the window clean and clear. it is very irritating to check your rear window when backing or looking to see if anyone's back there where the camera does not show and as your driving down the [XXX] and trying to change lanes at 70mph with a filthy tinted rear window its dangerous. I have not been reimbursed from the Manufacturer for the dealer repairs to my window after i sent in required documents to be reimbursed as stated in there letter to me that also extends my warranty on this. its been 9 months now INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT T

Hello.. I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 limited with the 5.7 etorque VIN# [XXX] with approximately 32000 miles on it in December of 2021 from Barton Cadillac in Newburgh N.Y.. I've put about 2000 miles more on it. About 2 weeks ago upon startup my low voltage light lit up. As the engine ran for a few seconds, the voltage continued to drop even more into the very low 11's with the red warning light illuminated....After about a minute and a half, abruptly, the voltage soared up to normal range ..14 - 14.2 volts..This happened multiple times..Finally I brought it in to Hudson Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Newburgh NY...I was told I probably needed a new battery..So they replaced my battery but the problem was still there...So I went back and they searched for codes with their scan tool and found many pertaining to the etorque battery and components behind the rear seat...They told me water had leaked in through cracks on the plastic frame of the rear window onto the etorque battery pack and other electronic components and ruined them..They said It wasn't covered under the etorque 8 year or 80000 mile warranty because there was flooding in that area of the truck...Flooding..That truck had a cracked rear window trim which is a well known manufacturers defect..Many Ram owners have had the same issue..I have read on some forums that some dealerships did in fact cover costs for this issue even though it was not covered by the warranty...As I'm sure you know, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has had a bulletin on this..Case # [XXX] REV A released on 1/30/21..Technically my warranty ran out on November of 2021.. .So I purchased a battery which was not the problem..It cost me $350 with troubleshooting fee..Now they're saying I have to pay for a new etorque battery pack, a replacement window which is a widely known manufacturers defect and I'd also have to pay for the labor costs..So a defective window leaked water on the etorque battery they are claimi INFORMATION Redacted

I bought a new battery from the Chrysler dealership in February of 2023 that started going bad in May of 2025. It is under warranty until February 2026. On May 28th 2025, I was attending a canine seminar out of town. At the end of the day, I went to start the truck & the battery was dead. I was able to get a jump start & immediately took it to a local retailer to have the starter, alternator & battery checked. The battery had Indications of going bad, the alternator & starter passed the tests. I purchased a mobile jump starter to make sure I wouldn't be left stranded somewhere. When I returned home, I scheduled an appointment at the dealership to have them replace it. The dealership kept it overnight & said their diagnostic machines did not give the code that allowed them to replace the battery under warranty. I was getting ready drive to Indiana from Florida & wanted to make sure it would be safe.I then drove to Texas after that, then back home, about 1200 miles each leg. When I went to leave to Maine a couple weeks later, the truck would not start. I was able to use a jump starter to get it going. When I got to Maine, I scheduled an appointment at the local dealership to have them check it. They ran the same tests & said they could not get the code to replace the battery under warranty. It became increasingly difficult to start the truck & even got to the point where I couldn't use a mobile jump starter to start it. When I returned from Maine, I made an appointment with a reliable mechanic who said the battery was swollen & leaking acid. He said it was ready to explode, potentially catching the engine compartment on fire. At that point I contacted the dealer again, and they said that yes, with acid leaking & the battery swollen, they could replace the battery under warranty. It should never have gotten to the point where the battery had to be leaking acid to get it changed out under warranty, the testing the dealerships do does not properly identify bad batteries.
