Gas Ranges or Ovens (279)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240827-66CFE-2147336890. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: NX58H5600SS/AA. Incident: My Samsung Gas Stove model number NX58H5600SS/AA Serial 0BGGyDDF70261W purchased in 2015 have defective knobs. The knobs on the appliance can be accidentally activated . The knobs do not lock in place and do not have to be pushed in with pressure to activate.. There is practically no pressure needed to activate the knob. My husband activated the knob by reaching up in the cabinet above the stove to get something not knowing he bumped the know activating it. We left the home and when we returned, our house was full of gas because the burner was slightly turned on with no flame. I know there is a recall for this same issue being reported for the electric ranges but not for my particular range that has the same problem. Note, this is not a gas issue, it is a knob issue. Samsung informed me my model was not part of the recall. I would like to report that the recall issue is also with the gas ranges. We are very lucky our house did not blow up due to gas pouring through the burner because the knob was only slightly turned. The fire department told us we were very lucky nobody was killed or injured when entering our home in this incident. Samsung would not help with replacement my knobs or providing me locks for my range because it is not part of the current recall. When the incident occurred, I immediately put on child safety covers over the burners. This should not be a solution. Samsung needs to correct this issue on all ranges. This is very serious!

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20111228-136BA-2147471955. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: FTQ387WGX. Incident: In the summer of 2010 I purchased a Samsung convection range, model FTQ387LWGX. In August (or may be Sept ) of 2011 while cooking on the stove I noticed an electrical burning odor and smoke coming from the back of the range and then one of the burners stopped working. I cantacted Samsung and a technician came and found that the wires to the control knob had burned through. He replaced them. Yesterday 12/27., The same thing happened with the same knob and burner. I am VERY concerned that this issue will cause a fire or electrcal shock and am concerned that others with this same range may experience the same problem. Below is the email I sent to SAMSUNG a few minutes ago.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150824-6B7C8-2147429043. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: SMH9187ST. Incident: This morning, my Samsung microwave oven (model SMH9187ST) started on it's own three times without anyone's presence in the kitchen. I cannot confirm that it wasn't doing this while we slept. Initially the Stop/Clear button worked to turn it off, but the third time that did not work and the door had to be opened to stop the cooking cycle. It was started in the Popcorn mode each time (a function that we do not use). Shortly after the third ghost start the microwave display showed "-- 5E --" (or SE) and no buttons on the unit would function. Concerned about this continuing without anyone home and/or causing a fire hazard, the unit is now unplugged.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120317-27EB6-2147469190. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: DV328AEW/XAA. Incident: This clothes dryer is a definite fire hazard. I have had to take this dryer apart at least 6 times in the last two years to remove literally a full inch of lint that has accumulated inside the dryer cabinet and on top of and inside of the heating element. The lint in and on the heater element has been burned/chared and I have been extremely lucky that I have not had an actual fire in my home. The design is flawed and someone will eventually lose their home or their lives if this product continues to be sold. I called Samsung rep and there was nothing they would do for me except to blame it on my installation. We have had two other dryers in my home over the years and installed in the same location. Never had a problem like this before. VERY DANGEROUS PRODUCT!!!

Source model text: HP-S4253. Incident: My TV in the bedroom was turned on earlier today and while i was in the kitchen all of a sudden the fire alarm went on . I came to the bedroom and first noticed a poisoness smell but first I thought that its coming from my neighbors thru the AC vent and called conciege and notified him about this problem then few minutes later i've noticed clouds of smoke pouring down fom the corner on the room . Since my TV is standed on top of high cabinet right next to the AC vent , first i though that smoke is coming from my neighbor ( because AC was on and blowing the smoke away from the TV ) , also my TV was ON and working normal while the smoke was coming out ) . Building maintenance people came right away and couldn't notice that smoke is coming from my TV either so they called fire fiighters to examine the entire building ) . At that time i turned the TV off and smoke still was coming out for several minutes after that . When fire fighters came , they checked every cable in my apartment , asked me about the TV and said that this poison smoke smell like some kind of cable or electronics burn and its a common thing in their experience that these kind of burns cause the fire in the house . I was lucky to turn off the TV almost right away or it could blow up and get my entire apartment on fire . I tried to turn the TV back on in about 1 hour after they left and picture and sound came on OK for about 10 seconds but the entire screen turned black but i still could hear the sound . I've tri

Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: FTQ352IWUX. Incident: This is my 5th Samsung appliance that has been a fire hazard or burn hazard. The stove, model FTQ352IWUX, was purchased in 2008 with the matching fridge, dishwasher and microwave. We grill a lot so we rarely use the stove top and oven at the same time. I have noticed when I used both that the front edge of the stove top would get hot but recently I use the stove at a higher temperature than normal, 475 degrees, and was cooking pancakes on the front burner, which takes a long time. I went to lean forward to reach the back knob and was slightly burned on my stomach, through my tn-shirt. After turning off the stove and burner, I put a thermometer to it and it was at about 200 degrees! I emailed Samsung and they said that they would do a one time free diagnostic and repair of the range as a courtesy to us, I think it helps that I told them we have over 15 appliances and electronic devices from their company in our home. The repair company came out, found what I found and reported back to Samsung. Mind you, during this time, I was advised not to use the stove with no offer of meal compensation. I should also mention, my Samsung microwave is a fire hazard and was being defected out by Lowes EPP and I was also instructed not to use that too. I have three kids at home and neither offered to pay for our meals. I got a call from the repair company saying Samsung said it's not repairable and will be replacing it. Got an email from Samsung to call them. I did and they offered me 50% of t

Source model text: ME21H706MQG. Incident: On November 9, 2015, we purchased an entire kitchen suite of Samsung appliances including a French door refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher and electric range. After only a few months, the refrigerator's ice maker no longer worked and I had to contact Samsung for replacement of the entire ice maker unit. For the past 2 months, my microwave oven is no longer functioning properly and I have contacted Samsung support numerous times. Their service contractor, Lakes Electronics, sent a repairmen out 3 wk. ago but he was not sure what the problem was and left without doing anything. After 2 wk. the microwave again stopped working completely, losing its total power and display. I again called Samsung who after 5 days faxed the service order over to Lakes Electronics. Lakes called me and said the first opportunity a technician could service the microwave was in 10 days from then! Mind you, all this time, the microwave was not operational. I again called Samsung yesterday to tell them of my dilemma and while on with customer support, we ran the microwave to discuss in detail what it was doing. Not only is it not running on full power and then loses total power and display, when I felt the right side of the microwave, I burned my finger pads, it was that hot. Customer support told me to unplug the microwave to avoid its catching fire or blowing up which we did! She also typed copious notes into their system for the technician and also told me a product specialist would call me bac

Incident: I received as a gift from my sister on Christmas Day (so I have had it six days) and used on our kitchen counter to charge our Galaxy S7 phones. It was purchased from Besy Buy. On Jan 1 I smelled something burning and walk over to see the charger smoldering at the usb port. There was no phone on it charging. I learned that the blue light means charging. When I walked up to it, that light was on. There had not been a phone on it for at least thirty minutes. I am guessing it burned itself up continuing to charge with nothing there. Good thing I caught it before it caught my house on fire... We use all Samsung OE products because I know that's important and have two "slow" wireless chargers that have worked perfectly for over a year. All samsung products I own (phone, chagers, etc...) are all within Samsungs 1y warranty.

Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: DV48J7700GW/A2. Incident: At 3:30am dog woke us, whining and sniffing the air. Realized there was the smell of fire coming from garage, and discovered smell of burnt electronics and hair coming from dryer. Wiring & hair smell so bad it filled the house & triggered wife's asthma. Called Samsung, they sent repair tech under warranty (owned less than a year). Tech confirmed fire had started due to buildup of lint leaking into body of dryer and covering the motor. Said it was due to design flaw, and would likely happen again even if repaired (we cleaned lint trap after every load, but very little else was venting out through duct, was going inside unit instead). Told Samsung we did not want this unit in our house anymore causing another fire, they claimed the damaged parts were repairable and would do nothing about the design flaw causing lint accumulation inside. Told them smell of burned wiring and/or hair made clothes & carpet throughout house smell, the "Executive Customer Service Rep" said I had to send pictures of the smell to be considered for reimbursement (how?), and rudely hung up on me when he was finished.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170301-4AF4D-2147405585. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU. Source model text: FTQ387LWGX. Incident: On the morning of 2/27/2017, I was cooking bacon inside my Samsung oven range for, about 10-15 minutes. Once the bacon was cooked, I had shut off the unit, but within 10 minutes I started smelling a wierd smell and then noticed smoke, coming from the top of the unit. The insulation under the glasstop of the samsung oven range somehow caught fire and caused smoke throughout our home that led us to feel dizzy and nauseated. We reported the product safety issue to Samsung support and they sent out a technician on 3/1/2017. Samsung escalation ticket # is [REDACTED]. Upon inspection by the onsite technician, he could see that the fire started under the glasstop in the insulation; however, a samsung tech support person he called in over the phone later overrode his diagnosis and indicated it was a due to a cosmetic issue inside the over range and that they would not repair or replace. The diagnosis from the tech over the phone (I remind you: done remotely over the phone) was incorrect and conflicted with what the onsite technician saw. This was a product safety iasue that caused mental and emotional distress to me and my wife, not to mention we inhaled smoke and had to call the local fire department. Samsung has improperly diagnosed the issue and has denied responsibility.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170727-1293A-2147398623. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Model SM-T230NU (Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet computer Model: SM-T230NU S/N: RF2F502RQFL, 8GB). Incident: Earlier this month, I noticed that my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet computer became swollen. The front glass is bulging so that the edges of the glass are exposed, and the back of the case is bulging outward, like a smooth lump. The tablet got warm while I was using it. I'm concerned that the tablet will explode or catch on fire, so I'm keeping it unplugged in a metal container away from flammable materials until I figure out how to safely dispose of it. I do not want to place it in the trash or give it to an electronics collection place, because I don't know if they will handle it properly in case it might explode or catch fire. I'm concerned that other people might have this product, and there might be a risk of explosion or fire. The model is SM-T-230NU, 8 GB S/N: RF2F502RQFL CE 0168
