SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260216-9356A-2147323498. Severity: Injury, Emergency Department Treatment Received. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore model no. 790.80323310. Source model text: Na. Incident: I was using a Kenmore stackable washer dryer. I was on my second load drying my clothes. It was about 2 AM in the morning and I dozed off and when I woke up to a loud buzzing, continuous sound, I opened my eyes, and my kitchen was full of smoke and it smelt something burning. I walked over to the unit towards the back of my apartment and looked behind it to see if something was on fire behind it and I could see an orange flame inside the metal backing, and I immediately turned off the gas valve and then I went to open the dryer to get my clothes out and flames just shot out and I lost my balance and fell and I pushed my back door open. My dog ran out. I ran back to my room to get my phone to call 911 and as I was running out the windows busted out and flames were just everywhere so my apartment to burnt up the whole backside

Incident: We have a Sears Kenmore Elite model 790 electric range. The shelves fall when any weight is put on them. I understand from online research this is a well known problem for Sears. I contacted them and they just pointed me to the parts department. It is a very hazardous situation because when hot things are in the oven and they fall it can burn someone. It is disappointing a company like Sears knows of this issue and yet refuses to acknowledge the problem or do anything to resolve it.

Source model text: Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher. Incident: I own a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher, Model: 665.16283400. It was purchased in 2005 from Sears. I have had to replace the circuit board three times, each time it blew out. The last time, last week, shortly after I started the washer, I heard a sizzling/clicking sound, saw smoke and it smelled like burnt electronics/wiring. I immediately opened the dishwasher and the smoking stopped. I called a repair person who showed me the burnt out circuit. However, if I hadn't been home or even in the kitchen, I'm afraid the dishwasher would have caught on fire as I have read so many others of this brand/style have. This problem with the circuit board cannot be fixed by simply replacing the circuit board which is what Sears did the first 2 times it blew. Now, I must pay again for a defect in the dishwasher - something that should have been recalled long ago. They are selling a very dangerous product. Please don't wait for children to die from a fire for you to do something about this issue. Thank you.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20121228-E0284-2147460572. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore model no. 790.80323310. Source model text: 790. Incident: I was using the oven portion of a Kenmore electric range. I had been preparing to cook dinner for that evening for my daughter and husband. The oven was preheated and I had just put the chicken into the oven. After the appropriate amount of time for the chicken to cook I called my daughter into the kitchen and began to take the food out of the oven. As soon as I placed my hand upon the over door glass exploded outward from the glass covering of the oven door. The glass went several feet away from the door spraying near my daughter and the family dog. The glass continued to break out slowly over several minutes and on occasion fell out in large chunks. Thankfully no one was injured but this incident could have caused injury to myself, my daughter, or the family pet. There was no warning that came with the product that this type of accident could occur. I was following appropriate usage guidelines and the product should not behave this way when used as intended. I would hope that in the future no one would be subject to exploding glass oven doors whilst cooking dinner for their family.

Incident: While cooking bread in the oven with tthe temp. of 350 degrees, My oven door exploded. I heard a loud pop and glass shot out and shattered everywhere. I looked on the computer and noticed that this was a common problem with the Sears ranges. I called the local Sears and the manager told me I needed to call the Customer Solutions. I called them and they told me that there was no recall on the product so they could do nothing for me. I purchased the range September of 2010. The warranty just ran out about 3 weeks ago. I did not purchase a warranty because I believed in their product. I purchased this range to replace one that I had for 13 years. and we were changing the kitchen to stainless appliances. My old Kenmore range worked perfect when I sold it last year. Sears said it was not their problem. I am thankful that my children were not in the kitchen when this happened. Sears needs to recall this oven.

Incident: We were using our Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Oven to bake and cook food on burners when flames lept from the back of the unit. There was a puff of black and acrid smoke that smelled like an electrical fire. The flames went out quickly but the smell lingered and the electrical oven was off and the display showed nonsense. We had a tile backsplash and clean cooking area, so nothing ignited, but it could have spread quickly if the residual grease in the range hood would have caught fire. We were left with singed eyebrows and choking on the bitter fumes.

Incident: I was taking a dish out of my kenmore stove which I purchased at Sears in Waterbury CT. When I reached into the oven to get the dish, I banged my leg against the oven door. It caused me to have a laceration which required 7stitches to close it. The oven door is surrounded by a very sharp metal edge as is also the bottom drawer of the stove. I contacted Sears by e-mail because when I called, the person on the phone said this had to be addressed by e-mail. The person I chatted with said I could not replace the stove but they would repair it, and tried to sell me a package deal for over 200 dollars. I told him the product was defective and Sears had an obligation to repair or replace this dangerous stove with sharp metal edges. He then offered to help me for 70 something dollars. I said I wanted Sears to pay for all repairs since they sod me a defective product.

The racks no longer stay in place, rendering the oven useless. After researching the oven I found that there are many complaints on line( some involving personell injury and or fire) yet Sears and Kemore refuse to acknowledge that a problem exists.

Incident: Kenmore Gas Stove Model 790 7403 3310 Serial No. VF34167183. In the process of performing an "oven clean" function as provided for on the stove and in accordance with the owners manual, the plastic trim piece on the oven door and the burner control knobs melted setting off the smoke alarms in the house. The plastic melted and dripped on the floor and into the interior of the oven door. I called Sears and Kenmore to inquire if a safety recall had been issued and to have a service technician examine the gas stove to determine the nature of the failure and to determine if the store would be safe to use after repair. No safety recalls were in the Sears/Kenmore data base. This appears to be a fire hazard.
