SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260623-5FE51-2147315508. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Source model text: RF28HMEDBSR AA. Incident: My Samsung French Door Refrigerator (Model RF28HMEDBSR/AA, Serial 065L43BJ600447J, manufactured June 2017) experienced a complete compressor failure at approximately 7 years of age. The refrigerator stopped cooling entirely while the internal temperature display continued to show normal temperatures (35F), creating a false sense of food safety. The actual interior temperature was significantly warmer, posing a food spoilage and potential foodborne illness risk.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220318-E1315-2147357197. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: Freezer motor making terribly loud noise as the compressor was going bad for the 2nd time in our Samsung refrigerator model #RF28HMEDBSR. The unit has had issues off and on for the 7 years we've had it. Temp on outside display is not accurate compared to the inside of the refrigerator. Milk has curdled, food has spoiled causing members of our household to become sick, medication that needs to be refrigerated cannot be trusted to be stored at the required safe temperature. From what I've been reading, this Samsung refrigerator should be recalled as thousands of other individuals have been having the same trouble and Samsung has not rectified the problem, they only to continue making the same product year after year.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190726-9A745-2147379671. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: This is in regards to a Samsung refrigerator bought in August of 2014. We noticed that the contents of the refrigerator didnt seem as cool as they should be. The temperature was set at 34F. The digital readout thats supposed to state the actual temperature also reads 34F. I bought and placed an appliance thermometer in the fridge. Temperature reads 50F after 24 hours, and now is at a constant 55-60F. Digital readout STILL reads 34F. I do not know how long that my family and I have been eating food at unsafe temperatures, as we did not notice until the food and liquids felt considerably warmer than normal. My family and i have experienced many stomach issues over the past 5 years, and i cant help but wonder if it was due to eating food at unsafe temps. This is the second time in less than 5 years that weve had the same issue. Both times also resulted in loss of hundreds of dollars of food. This issue is due to a WELL KNOWN defect and design flaw by Samsung, which they refuse to acknowledge. Samsung needs to take ownership of an issue that can be dangerous to the health and safety of their consumers.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200501-2D95B-2147372616. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: Samsung refrigerator model RF28HMEDBSR keeps icing up in the back panel causing the fan to quit working. Subsequently the temperature is rising and it's spoiling my food. Two weeks ago I consumed some of the spoiled food and didn't know it had gone bad. Everything was well with in the expiration dates. The result was me being sick from botulism for a night. I found that my refrigerator temperature was well above the programmed 37 degrees. I actually have purchased separate refrigerator thermometers to monitor the temperature now. The coils on the refrigerator are freezing up daily even after doing a manual defrost from the control panel. This is a known defect from Samsung and they have been denying it for a few years now. These refrigerators are unsafe and I'm sure this has happened to more then just me.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200918-07446-2147369728. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: I purchased a Samsung french door refrigerator in June of 2014, model #RF28HMEDSBR. After 6 months the ice maker stopped working. We had multiple issues with ice buildup very early on and Samsung did not address/fix the issue. We continued to have numerous issues with other components of the fridge including, seals, fans and now recently over the summer, the fridge is reading a temp of 34 degrees but in actuality- it's 47 degrees. Food has continuously been getting spoiled after only a day. I have had 3 service calls in the last three months to fix the issue to no avail. My technician has contacted Samsung to request a refund since the product is clearly defective. In researching the issue it appears that this has been an ongoing issue that Samsung customers have been dealing with since 2006. It's frustrating that Samsung has given me different answers depending on which representative I speak with.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201223-C342A-2147367293. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: I have been living with a nightmare of a fridge since 2015. My unit and many others are not only prone to having defective ice makers, but unsafe temperatures as well. My fridge was purchased in November 2014 and started having issues late 2015. I was told to just reset it and everything should be fine. Icemaker continually froze up and stopped working. Samsung first admitted to me their ice makers were made in Korea by another company and there were no known issues with their refrigerators. However I have a service bulletin showing they knew of the issue since 2006. Not only that, but I have the bulletins showing many revisions in 2007, 2015, 2017 and 2019. I have a [REDACTED] folder I can share with all this information as well as conversations on [REDACTED] of Samsung not acknowledging these issues. Only after filing a complaint to the BBB Samsung offered a free repair. Samsung has now been out twice to replace the icemaker and many other components. Yet I am still stuck with the same issue of the icemaker not working along with a new cooling issue after the "repairs." I have digital data logs of temperatures reaching at times 60 degrees before cooling. When you spend $3,000 on a refrigerator you shouldn't have to worry about it breaking down in a short few years time. Not only that, but all the food and medicine loss it has cost me due to unsafe temperatures.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201229-4FB3C-2147367063. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: I purchased a Samsung french door refrigerator Model #RF28HMEDBSR in July 2016. I have had numerous issues with it, including issues with the ice maker not working and also with the interior temperature being too warm. The interior temperature of the fridge portion fluctuates between 41 and 44 degrees farenheit, despite the fridge being set on 37 degrees. Anything over 40 degrees is an unsafe temperature for food and can result in food spoilage and illness. This is a known defect with Samsung french door refrigerators and there are multiple service bulletins that have been published dating back to 2007 about this problem. There are also currently two class action lawsuits in process regarding these particular issues with Samsung fridges as well. Samsung still continues to sell french door refrigerators with these known defects. I now own a useless hunk of metal that cost me over $2,000.

Incident: I purchased a Samsung Refrigerator Model RF28HMEDBSR in 2014. After one year I started having problems with the ice maker freezing up. Subsequently the refrigerator would stop cooling and I had several instances where food spoiled. I learned through researching the topic on support groups and class action lawsuits that an engineering defect was causing ice to build on the cooling coil and block the circulation fan causing temperatures to rise to unsafe levels leading to food spoilage. Samsung made it very difficult to obtain a courtesy service and only offered the service after numerous phone calls. When the issue reappeared following the service being performed Samsung offered a refund that was later refused to offer and refused to offer any courtesy service calls. The representative claimed that any refund would require more diagnostics from a certified repair technician, however, Samsung refused to provide the service and insisted that I would have to pay the cost of service out of pocket.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200611-FA1B4-2147371781. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: SAMSUNG RF28HMEDBSR (Samsung 28.15 cu ft 4 door French Door refrigerator, Stainless Steel Model #RF28HMEDBSR). Incident: We purchased a suite of appliances from Home Depot July 4, 2016. Three of the appliances were Samsung products-French Door refrigerator with ice/water in door, over the range microwave and dual oven stove. Due to delivery delays and then service tech flooding kitchen when installing dishwasher it was October before we had a functioning kitchen. The Samsung microwave caught on fire the 4th time it was used. After multiple calls to Samsung we finally received a refund. Samsung French Door refrigerator with ice/water in door had water coming from under fridge and in the middle drawer in May 2017. We had been on a weekend trip and thought it could be due to ice maker being full and could not dump more in bin. It only did that once however it has been freezing over since then. The ice maker has been replaced twice. It continues to freeze over. It has frozen over 4 times since May 26,2020. It has frozen up 2 days in row this week. Ice Maker grows mold where ice comes of maker and on rubber chute in door. Refrigerator started making loud noise around the ice maker. Noise stops when door is opened. Due to the noise I started checking the internal temp of the unit. The door temp shows 36/37. Internal temp ranges from 41-45 and has gone as high as 50. I have had to thrown away food that had spoiled after just 1 day in fridge. I have taken meat back to grocery store that was spoiled thinking it was fault of grocery store-I now know it is due to fridge. I now freeze meat when I purchase it even if I plan to cook it the next day. Bagged salad goes bad after 1day. I am a cancer survivor w
