Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220201-C4742-2147357739. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire FFIF 3054 T89. Source model text: FFEF3054TDG. Incident: I have a 2 year old Frigidaire oven. I have used my oven many times but today February 1st 2022 I turned my oven on preheat to 400 to cook a pizza like I have done many times before but this time thankfully I walked away and heard a loud pop noise. As I turned around I saw my front oven door glass begin to crack and shatter into little pieces. Then it protruded out on to the kitchen floor. I have two small children who thankfully were not in the kitchen at that time but my 2 children did come rushing in as they heard the loud noise and stepped on glass which is why I am reporting this because it could have been way worse!

Source model text: FFEF3054T8P. Incident: My Frigidaire oven door shattered when no one was using the oven. We were no where near the stove when it happened. The glass on the outer door basically exploded. If someone had been standing near the appliance, they certainly wouldve been injured. Our oven is just 2 years old, and it is not abused or used roughly in any way. My husband cut his hand trying to remove the shards of glass from the door and was injured.

Incident: On July 23, 2026, our Frigidaire electric range (Model: LFEF3054TDS) experienced a sudden, spontaneous, and violent explosion of the outer oven door glass panel. The oven was completely off and cooling down after I had finished baking prior to the incident. This was not a passive cracking or crumbling of tempered glass. The panel imploded with massive force, making a loud sound resembling an explosion. Glass shards and high-velocity debris were propelled forcefully across the entire kitchen floor. My partner was standing in the vicinity and was struck directly by the flying glass fragments. While they fortunately avoided severe lacerations or emergency medical hospitalization, the velocity of the flying debris created an immediate and extreme physical hazard. The fact that this happened while the oven was completely turned off and cooling down makes it exceptionally dangerous. Had either of us been directly in front of the range window at the exact moment of failure, we would have been seriously injured and hospitalized without a doubt. The force of the flying glass demonstrates a severe manufacturing defect that poses an immediate risk of injury to consumers.

The top and side of the stove beside the burner on the side is so hot it could burn you ! This unit was purchased only two years ago almost to the date. This is a safety hazard, and Frigidaire customer service has said there is nothing they can do to support me, as the unit is over one year old, which is ridiculous. Thankfully no one was injured. I am an adult woman.

I didnt file an insurance claim as I didnt want to deal with increased premiums.

Incident: I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery Gas Stove FGGF3054MF in mid 2015. at least 4 times in the pas six months, I have found an oven knob slightly turned on, releasing gas into the kitchen. it is too easy to accidentally bump one of these knobs and it will accidentally turn on (other people on amazon product posts have same complaint.) I called Frigidaire to see if they had any way of making the knobs less sensitive / harder to turn on, and they just told me to be careful. these knobs can turn on, releasing gas, BEFORE the knob gets to the ignition click. you don't even know the knob is on until you either start smelling the gas, or happen to notice a leak is occurring. (Note - this is a vacation home, and only occupied part time) Second Note - besides smelling gas and the possibility of fire, there were no "injuries" to be entered in the next section.

Incident: The outter glass on our Fridigdaire oven door exploded for no reason. We had used it an hour prior at 400 degrees then 350 degrees. It had been off for about an hour and thankfully nobody was in the room when we heard it explode. There were no issues or existing cracks. The oven came with our house we bought 4 years ago and the oven looks to be manufactured in 2020. Thankfully nobody got hurt, but I'm afraid to fix it and continue to use it since this seems like a common issue. I tried to see if there is a recall or what it would cost for Frigidaire to fix it and they are charging me normal prices and seem completely unbothered this happened. Eventually they offered 20% off, but they still have not been able to schedule a time to fix it, and I have to go through separate company to schedule my own appointment. It just all seems so suspicious. Ovens are expensive, until we can afford a new one we will just fix what we have. I am astonished there isn't a recall on these considering the amount of complaints I have seen for this very issue.
