SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220415-0619A-2147356844. Severity: Injury, Level of care not known. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS. Incident: Purchased a new Samsun refrigerator which over heated, ruined food in the freezer, causing my children and wife to become ill. Then all of the food in the refrigerator spoiled. This ruined our floor and over $600 worth of food. We are a family of 6 with 4 children, and we are on a limited fixed income. They don't want to cover the warranty or the extended warranty. They sent a person out to replace the compressor and mother board and that didn't fix it, the tech said it is not fixable. Samsun was going to give me a $1400 voucher to use on their web site and then rescinded it with no explanation. I advised that I wasn't takin a frig of lesser value then what I currently have.

Smart Freestanding Gas Range with No-P. Incident: Product: Samsung 6.0 cu. ft. Smart Freestanding Gas Range with No-Preheat Air Fry & Convection in Stainless Steel. When the range knob it turned quickly, it will not trigger the ignition spark so gas keeps flowing without any stopper or safety valve. It can easily lead to an explosion or fire. We were lucky that we smelled gas after a few minutes and shut off the valve.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200428-BD733-2147372658. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS. Incident: In 2012 I researched and bought a somewhat expensive Samsung refrigerator at around $2300 from HH Gregg here in Fsirfield Ohio. We had HH Gregg repairmen out 2 x for frozen ice, no ice and freezing puddle under crisper. After losing all of my groceries twice. I was informed it was unfixable. I did not learn this was a common design flaw until a few days ago. It started giving me trouble a couple of months later due to a defect in the design. Its ice makers stopped working, water started pooling under crisper drawer, the back stayed frozen over, and the biggest issue is that the outside temperature display would say the right temperature while the inside would actually be a lot warmer. This caused my insulin to be kept at the wrong temperature causing him to become sick. There is no fix to these problems due to a design defect. The temperature on the inside of fridge is not accurate and we constantly lose food due to low temperatures.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200902-FFF3D-2147370086. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS. Incident: No injuries have been sustained. I have a 5 year old Samsung refrigerator that has never really worked properly. The trouble we had was with the ice maker, but after researching the issues on the internet, I saw some complaints that temps inside the fridge & freezer were frequently not low enough so I put thermometers inside to monitor mine. The freezer temp has been up to 10 degrees F and the fridge temp is regularly in the 45 degree F range. I would not have known without the thermometers as the display on the fridge consistently reads 0 & 37 degrees F for freezer and fridge respectively. According to what I've seen on the internet, this is a common problem with Samsung fridges. I think this may be a significant issue if medically fragile people are regularly eating foods that have been improperly stored in their Samsung fridge.

Incident: I purchased a Samsung side by side refrigerator from day one my refrigerator different times of the day sweats and temperature rise's as high as 60 degrees'. Milk, cream spoils it is so bad butter melts, I have set it to Samsungs manual setting. Two different service company have set it and still having trouble. Both companies said that Samsung has had many complaints for this same reason this is dangerous, I've had service twice each time they charge $150.00 just to come out. I have hundreds twice a new gasket, coil cleaned , compressor checked and still sweating and temperature problems. When purchasing I bought refrigerator, dishwasher and stove all to match. Service men both told me to replace it with a different manufacture. I paid $1400 for it and have $750.00 for repairs and today nothing has changed. No refrigerator should go from 36 degrees to 60 degrees and everything soaking wet inside.

Source model text: S26. Incident: I recently purchased a Samsung S26+ phone in June of 2026. Since getting the phone, there has been a system issue where whenever I get a notification of any sort, the screen stays on even if it's not in use. I have looked for settings to turn that feature off, but to no success. Today, 8/11/2026, while at work my phone had turned on in my pocket at some sort. I was not and had not used my phone in some time (at least 2 hours). I noticed my leg began to hurt so I finished the day and came home. When I checked the area, I had noticed my phone had left a large burn on my leg (a large red area with a blister in the center and skin peeling around it). Since the burn occurred, my leg has been in pain and the burn area appears as a large red lump with a blister in the center that continues to change over time.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220920-C5B10-3908692. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS. Incident: My son's Samsung phone, purchased in December of 2020, overheated and seared the shape of the phone in my couch. It also burned a hole where the charging cord connects. Thankfully my son caught the phone overheating before in started the couch on fire or hurt anyone. I called to report this to Samsung on July 14, 2022. I spoke to [REDACTED] in the Speciality Claims Department. [REDACTED] had me send her pictures of the damages and told me she would send me a box to ship my phone to them. She said once they received the phone a Samsung representative would reach out to me and let me know what they would do for me. [REDACTED] said a box would arrive to my house in 5-7 days. When I had still not received a box by August 1st, I called Samsung again. I was told this went through a special department. They said a message would be sent and someone would contact me in 24 hours. When I didn't hear back in 48 hours, I called again on August 3rd. I was told I needed to speak with [REDACTED] the person assigned to my case. I was told my message was marked as urgent and I would hear back in 24-48 hours. When I still didn't hear back almost a week later, I called again on August 9th. This time I spoke to [REDACTED] in the Speciality Claims Department. I asked [REDACTED] to speak with [REDACTED] or a manager. I was told neither could speak with me. I told her if l didn't hear back in 24 hours I would be pursuing my rights with Consumer Protection. I did finally hear back and received a box.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120427-F9F00-2147468073. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS. Incident: I came home from work one evening to find my Samsung 46" TV base had exploded all over my apartment. There were shards of glass all over my apartment as far as eight feet. I was so baffled by how this could have happened I decided to do some research online only to find that this is a common (or more common than expected) occurrence. The only consistent thing I have seen in YouTube vidoes and other photos is the common exposure to sunlight. The TV was off and has no damage. The core of the base is still intact and thankfully there was no one around when this happened. If someone were within the range of the debris there could have potentially been serious injury from what I can tell. This is very hazardous and I think it is Samsung's responsibility to follow up on this sooner than later before someone really does get hurt.

Electric Ranges or Ovens (Excl Counter-top Ovens) (278)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 16, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220414-764F3-2147356872. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS (Samsung Model 01 number NE589500SS. This is a regular very common electric range bought at BestBuy, they still sell similar models.). Incident: I bought an electric range for my house and it has a very unsafe and hazardous front cook tops temperature control knobs; if anyone touchs and/ or leans against the range while on the kitchen or by the sink the knob turns on itself, the person then leaves the room but does not realize the range had been turned on. Anything on the cooktop will cook will get hot or catch in fire. If the person leaves the house without double checking on the cook top knobs he/she can put fire on the house inadvertently. This happens every time it anyone leans or touches the stove and it happened since i bought it and since it was brand new. The manufacturer or the seller will not do anything about it. This had happen several times throghout many years. Fortunatelly I had just lost pans or burned kitchen stuff because I always come back to check on the stove if it's on or off. The Sumsang electric range model in question can put fire in anybody's house in a matter of minutes.
