STEERING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11365227

Unsafe loose steering in this 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport s willy's edition.. The wheel has a large dead space requiring over correcting to maintain the vehicle in it's lane. Due to the dead space I have to perform a "sawing motion" to keep the Jeep in its lane. The excess steering wheel motion is at low speeds as well as highway speeds. The Jeep can veer right or left depending on the road. When I hold the wheel completely still, the tires can be felt moving right and left. My 16 year old son almost wrecked the Jeep the first day in a 25 MPH neighborhood due to the overcorrecting needed to steer it straight.. This is a safety issue and needs to be corrected before someone is hurt or killed. I was told initially this was a "Jeep thing" by someone at the dealership. I did take it in to the dealership and the tech without driving it right away said you need a new steering box. I purchased this Jeep Sept 23. There was a service bulletin that came out Aug 10 by the company # 08-074-20 for improved steering feel. Please do something about this. There is a steering problem that would not be accepted by any other car. It is not a "Jeep thing".

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11759913

At approximately 58,000 miles I discovered that the rear upper coil spring mounts on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon are separating from the frame. The factory welds attaching the upper coil perches to the frame rails have cracked and torn, and the mounts are no longer securely attached. I found this condition only incidentally, while inspecting the vehicle for a separate ongoing steering issue. The coil mount separation was not what I was looking for, and I would not have found it otherwise. These mounts carry the rear vehicle load. If one separates completely, the coil spring can unseat and the rear of the vehicle can drop on that corner, causing loss of ride height, brake line displacement, and loss of vehicle control. I consider this an imminent safety hazard and I have stopped driving the vehicle. The fracture surfaces are heavily rusted, indicating the welds failed a considerable time before I discovered the condition, most likely years earlier and within the warranty period. The vehicle was taken to Jeep dealers for service and inspection multiple times during that period, and no Jeep inspection ever identified or reported this failure.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11607270

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The brake pedal was depressed multiple times however still failed to respond. The vehicle proceeded to drift 150 yards causing the vehicle to crash into the contacts residence and come to a stop at a piece of furniture. No warning lights were illuminated. No injuries were sustained. The front passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was repaired for cosmetic damages, however; it was not diagnosed or repaired for the failure. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal failed to operate causing the contact to crash into the vehicle in front. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not damaged. No injuries were sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a high-current fuse array that needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

STEERING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11300456

Vehicle is wandering all over the lane, steering feels "loose" and it is hard to keep the vehicle straight in lane. Happens at all speeds but it's more noticeable at highway speeds (50-70MPH). I had "near miss" when driving west on I-10 before baytown where road works are happening and the road has been barricaded on both sides making the road too narrow. So when driving side by side with an 18WHEELER it was almost impossible to be precise and keep the vehicle straight. I had to brake hard to let the 18WHEELER go and try to avoid another one passing me and being in the same situation. If you hold the steering wheel straight, the vehicle won't do the same, so you have to give constant input to avoid going to other lanes. I've found massive complaints on Jeep forums and Youtube. Some videos are actually leading to a solution by replacing the steering box, flashing the power train control module or replacing the trac bar as well, ETC. I'm about to visit the dealership for second time after the issue was not resolved on first visit. Only alignment was done and they said the steering issue was "normal" and that all new wranglers were like that. Thanks for your time.

I was pulling into work when my dash lit up with all warning lights, I was unable to shut my vehicle off. I had to disconnect the battery to do so. After a couple hours of being disconnected, it operated normal. Few hours later, went to leave a store and it lit up again, this time my steering was nonfunctional. The common issue was the can buss connector. For several years this has been an issue, apparently a TSB was placed but I am unable to find it. This should be a national recall. This part controls literally every electrical component of this vehicle. It's I intermittent and unknown to when it will malfunction. This creates a huge hazard to driving as when it does malfunction, you're unable to steer, your vehicle can shut off, it's not safe at all. Then come to find that the part isn't even covered as a replacement on the TSB. There is no reason this part should not be recalled, how does a small plastic block become defective other than poor craftsmanship? When the vehicle can't communicate to the other parts (engine, transmission, steering, fuel system, etc) that is a huge problem and is not worth the risk of death because someone can no longer drive or steer when going 65 mph.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11728117

I am the original owner of a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. My instrument cluster has completely failed. I know that there is an active recall for this exact issue (30B) but my VIN number is not included. This is clearly a safety defect as my cluster is non-functional, I do not have a speedometer or warning indicators.i have no idea how much or how little gas I have, if my tire pressure is low…I am the original owner, as stated ,and this is not normal wear. I am also aware that there is an open investigation into this recall and I believe my Jeep should be included in the recall. Prior to the cluster going out, there was not any warning. I started the jeep and it was working and as I was driving it went off. It never came back on. We checked connections and fuses, it’s not that. My husband has addressed it with two separate dealerships and was told there was nothing they could do and offered no suggestions. I went today and spoke with a new dealership and they put me in contact with Jeep Customer Care. I have begun the process but will most likely still be paying out of pocket with money, I frankly do not have. This is a safety issue and should be taken care of by Jeep, and is being covered for some by the recall.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11454478

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 75-80 MPH, the temperature gauge indicated “HOT” indicating that the engine was overheating. The contact pulled over to the emergency lane and looked up possible causes for the failure in the Owner’s Manual. The Owners Manuel instructed the contact to turn off the vehicle and wind the windows down which she performed. The Owner’s manual also suggested waiting for 15 minutes before restarting the vehicle. The contact performed the functions as instructed and started the vehicle and proceeded to drive however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the engine and the vehicle lost all of the electronic functions. The brake and steering were the only functions that the contact was able to control. The contact engaged the hazard light and pulled over. The contact lifted the hood, rolled the windows down, and waited for the vehicle to cool down. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed about a refund on towing. The approximate failure mileage was 30,791.

In August the entire instrument cluster on my vehicle suddenly quit working while driving. Just prior to this the check seat belt warning came on though my seatbelt was engaged. I pulled over, released then re-engaged the seatbelt , turned the engine off and restarted it and began driving when the entire instrument cluster lost illumination and NONE of the gauges were working, no speedometer, engine monitoring, gas gauge etc. But the engine was running, lights ,turn signals, windshield wipers were all working. After my son and I tried unsuccessfully to find the problem we contacted our Jeep dealership, but couldn’t get an appointment until mid September to have it checked. They found that it was an internal problem and the unit needs to be replaced. However the parts are unavailable at this time from their supplier. Apparently this has been a problem with other owners and the supplier said that Jeep is changing the cluster unit and the new ones won’t be available to order until November 20th. I believe this is a safety issue since the driver is unable to monitor issues using the instrument cluster and it occurred suddenly and obviously has happened to other owners and therefore a recall should be issued and the problem fixed.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11639163

The contact owned a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while the contact's wife was driving at an uncertain approximately 45-90 MPH, another vehicle merged in front of the contact causing the driver to swerve and the other vehicle crashed into the front driver-side tire and frame. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact stated that the vehicle was later towed to the insurance company's tow yard for inspection. The vehicle incurred damage to the front driver's side of the grill and the driver's side of the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that the front driver's side wheel was folded underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was condemned as a total loss by the insurance company. The contact's grandson, who occupied the front passenger seat, sustained no injuries. The contact's wife was transported to the local hospital. The contact's wife received unknown injuries and was transported to the hospital for a CT scan and continued medical attention with her primary care doctor, a neurologist, and continued physical therapy. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

I am writing to get a good will repair for my of a 2020 Jeep Wrangler, VIN: [XXX] with approximately 50,000 miles. The estimate for the Jeep/Stellantis repair states after the inspection that my vehicle’s instrument panel cluster (IPC) has a serious internal defect that creates a safety hazard. Wrangler’s instrument panel has gone completely dark, leaving me without access to critical safety information such as speed, warning indicators, and fuel levels. The inspection and dealer diagnosis states that , this failure is due to an internal defect in the IPC, which is identical to the condition described in NHTSA Recall No. 24V-652. Although my VIN is not currently listed under Recall 24V-652, the symptoms and internal defect in my vehicle are the same failure mode as the recalls. Driving without a functioning instrument cluster is unsafe, placing myself and others at risk, and constitutes what is known safety defect with jeep wranglers. Repair or replace the defective instrument panel cluster in my vehicle at no cost, as a goodwill repair or as part of the existing recall. I am asking to be Reimburse me any costs already incurred and related to this defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11667012

The digital instrument cluster (Electronic Vehicle Information Center – EVIC) on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler has failed, and no longer displays critical vehicle information. This includes fuel level, engine and oil temperature, mileage, tire pressure, and other key dashboard data. This failure creates an unsafe driving condition due to the inability to monitor vehicle speed, engine status, or fuel availability. I brought the vehicle to the dealer, and they confirmed the cluster is nonfunctional, but also stated that my VIN is not covered under the existing recall. After extensive research, I discovered hundreds of reports from other Wrangler owners experiencing the same failure in 2018–2021 models, yet Jeep has only issued limited recall coverage, seemingly based on build date rather than known defective components. To make matters worse, no replacement parts are available, either through the dealership or third-party suppliers. I am now left without a fully functioning vehicle and no support or resolution from Jeep or its dealers. This is a widespread and well-documented issue that affects driver safety and should be subject to expanded recall or mandated remedy. I urge NHTSA to investigate why so many similar failures are not covered under existing recalls.

After one year of owning the Jeep Wrangler 2020 the steering wheel would lock up while driving. This not only puts me at risk but others also. After multiple times of this happening I have dodged multiple accidents and collisions with other cars and thankfully avoiding death. When the steering wheel locks & this happens I am not able to turn the wheel at all. We have attempted to get this car repaired by our dealership over 5 times, we are now in the process of the lemon law and FCA completely does not care. they are continuously brushing us off and dragging this whole process out. I have explained how dangerous this problem is and no one contacts us back. we have sent multiple emails and called and left voicemails and no one responds. FCA keeps asking for paperwork we have sent multiple times. This jeep wrangler is a death trap and I refuse to drive it. We are making payments every month and cannot enjoy the car. we have not even missed one payment and this is how we get treated. I will not recommend jeeps products to anyone. I don't think I will ever buy a jeep product again. I am putting this out there so no one else will be put in this miserable position or put their life In danger dealing with jeeps awful products. this needs to be addressed before someone dies.

The sun visors break off and fall down, obscuring view of the road ahead. This happened on both sides after two years of ownership, was replaced under warranty, then broke apart two years later out of warranty. The dealership demands hundreds of dollars to fix PER visor. For the exorbitant price for a part that shouldn’t even wear out like that (or that quickly), the only alternative is to buy third party brackets to secure the visors instead. These brackets are not made or offered in any way by Jeep or Mopar. Broken visors on 2018-2024 models are a well-known and very common problem according to Jeep’s own service technicians and hundreds of other Jeep owners online. Jeep/Stellantis should be forced to issue a recall on the visors / install for free the necessary securing brackets and offer full refunds to any customers who already paid out of pocket to get their visors replaced at the dealership. The part/design itself is faulty and having them replaced without the addition of extra securing brackets only guarantees that they will break again in the future. Having the sun visor suddenly fall / hit you / dangle in front of your face while driving is an absolute safety hazard and it’s shocking that nothing has been proactively done by Jeep to address this concern.

In the document (ZD8), although my VIN does not appear, I have unfortunately encountered the SAME EXACT problem. My Jeep first exhibited this issue back in 2022, and I managed to repair it at that time without being aware of the existing recall. As it stands, my vehicle is now at the dealership again, plagued by the SAME recurring issue. In trying to resolve this, I have tirelessly reached out to every dealership within a 75-mile radius of Katy. However, none of them have the requisite part(s) available in their inventory. To worsen the situation, I have been informed that I would be placed on an exceptionally lengthy waiting list. I strongly urge you to conduct a thorough reevaluation since it's apparent that this issue extends beyond the limited number of VINs currently covered in the document. At one distressing moment, this defect triggered a heart-stopping warning while I was driving on the highway: “Find a safe place to pull over; your vehicle is about to turn off.” Furthermore, this is the second occasion on which I have been compelled to address and replace the same issue. This situation is increasingly untenable, and it's vital that comprehensive action is taken to address this widespread problem rather than limiting focus to just the few VINs listed in file (ZD8).

I was driving down freeway and all power cut out, pulled over and power came back on. A week later my service 4x4 light came on. I tried to put in 4wd and it got stuck, would not go into 4wd. I had to use excessive force to push stick back to 2wd. I called local dealership to set up an appoint. Service advisor told me he already knew what was wrong with it and that I would have to pay out of pocket because its not being covered by Chryler warranty regardless of mileage and with in warranty timeframe. He said it is a "common problem" because these vehicles have soybased wiring and attracts rodents. Took my vehicle in thinking that he must be wrong, but the technician identified that my wiring is damaged. The dealership refused to submit the claim to Chrysler corp nor would they put down their statement about the "soy based wiring" when I raised legal issues, they refused to work on my vehicle even if I paid as they stated" they dont want the publicity". I was never informed on purchase that the vehicle i purchased had this safety issue. Work order states damage but eludes specific cause on invoice, no repairs were done, service 4wd light still on, I only have 2wd, all dealerships in area are owned by same group who sold me this vehicle and no appoints for 1 to 2 months available.

While traveling on the interstate 3 months ago, my 2020 Jeep Wrangler began to vibrate violently after driving over a seam in the road while traveling around 70mph. After slowing down and pulling over, I assessed the exterior of the car and tires for any obvious defects and continued on without identifying any structural problems. Within the next 20 miles the violent reverberations occurred again. We pulled over, concerned that something catastrophic could occur and brought the Jeep to a local mechanic. The mechanic suggested that the wheels should be balanced which we complied with, although we had just recently had a tire rotation and balance prior to this trip, but thought perhaps the violent shaking caused the tires to misalign. That same day, we searched online to see if others had experienced a similar phenomenon and learned about the "death wobble". We called Jeep that day and they would neither confirm nor deny that the Jeep was safe to drive for the remainder of our trip. We continued on at a lower speed and encountered the same problem the following day. We feel this vehicle is unsafe to drive and Jeep has informed us that they do not have enough parts to fix our Jeep because of the volume of affected vehicles. We’ve been on a waitlist for the part for the past 3 months.

I can’t imagine what would have happened to me if I didn’t get this resolved and I was going to work driving on the highway doing 55 and this happened and the vehicle slammed itself into park. I would not be here today to tell my story and potentially save other lives as I’m sure this is a known recall and or should be! I called jeep and was notified that this is a known recall but my vin was listed for the recall. So here I am in hopes to get this resolved for all jeeps out there to get this addressed. I would also like to be reimbursed for the parts and labor getting this fixed. I have the video footage of this happening as well and a pic of the cam bus fuse connector showing the burnt electrical components. This will not let me upload a video only photos.. the video is very important in this case and I feel you should have it for this, if so please email me or contact me and I can send it.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

70 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11737151

On April 13, 2026, at approximately 67,312 miles, my vehicle experienced a fuel system failure when the main fuel supply line leading to the high-pressure fuel pump cracked and began actively leaking raw gasoline onto the top of the transmission in the engine compartment. There were no prior dashboard warning lights or error messages; the only symptom leading up to the failure was a extremely strong odor of raw gasoline coming from the engine bay area. I believed this fuel leak created an immediate, severe risk of an engine compartment fire. I immediately brought the vehicle to an authorized factory dealership, where certified technicians acting on behalf of the manufacturer inspected the system, confirmed the active leak emitting raw fuel odors, and successfully removed and replaced the failed supply line to resolve the issue. If needed, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Furthermore, my vehicle is factory-equipped with the 2.0L Turbo engine, meaning this failure is identical to the documented fire hazard covered under FCA Safety Recall Y10 (NHTSA Campaign 21V-665). Even though my specific production sequence was not actively flagged under the manufacturer's recall lookup system, I believe the component failed in the exact same hazardous manner described in the official recall.

I have been back to the dealership multiple times, 4 soft top replacement and or repairs also other visits... Also 1 soft top replacement. Water leaks, top literally coming off/ out of frame at speeds over 30 MPH. 2 of the tops had friction burn/ tears and the 3RD is doing the same thing but worse. Carpets are saturated with water days after raining. The Jeep has been in the repair shop or in my driveway unable to use when it rains, over speeds of 30 MPH. Currently the top has a big opening that cane lose above the driver side windshield and air and or rain mists into my face. I have asked to have it replaced with a hard top or a vinyl soft top multiple times to see if that would help, even tho I purchased the vehicle with the 'black and tan' package which consists of tan canvas soft top and tan interior, black exterior. They stated 'they (the dealer) can not do that because of the VIN #' but then stated I could buy one from them. As of today my 2020 Jeep with approximately 4,800 sits in my driveway out of service. I purchased/leased a new vehicle because I have congestive heart failure, multiple dr. Appointments, a new born baby and 2 other children, I need a reliable vehicle. The Jeep is unsafe for myself and drivers behind me, fearing the top May completely come off while driving and or metal frame.

Clutch pedal intermittently sticks when pressed to the floor. If you press and hold the clutch to the floor and release it slowly you can feel it bind up. 3 things normally happen. #1. It will stick to the floor #2. It will stick for a short time and as you raise your foot, the pedal will hit the bottom of your foot, jerking the jeep forward. #3 it does release as normal. I have taken the Jeep to the dealer last year 8/21 and they couldn't replicate the issue. However they reported a leaky hose that they replaced. I couldn't identify any hoses that were newly replaced. It has gotten progressively worse and now I can replicate the issue after a few attempts. When at a complete stop pointing uphill there is a risk of rolling back into another vehicle if the clutch doesnt engage. Transitioning from a complete stop to moving forward is not very smooth if the clutch pops up on its own. Sometimes it ends up in the engine stopping and having to restart the vehicle. The Jeep is available for inspection. I have tried to schedule another repair but waiting for a response from the Dealer. The Jeep has other recalls for the clutch and I believe all recalls have been applied to the vehicle. I have an email that I sent to the dealer with photos that I sent to the dealer when I first noticed this issue. I can also try to find the invoice from last year.

A bunch of lights started to pop on my dashboard and said things like Service Airbag System, Service Shifter, Traction Control On while I was driving on a busy road. My steering wheel was also locked so I was unable to turn left or right. Thankfully, I was on the right side of the road so I was somehow able to get on the side of the road and pull over. When I put my car on park, the car would start jerking forward. I turned my car on and off and it was still doing the same thing. I turned it off again and after about 15 minutes, my steering wheel was unlocked. I took my car to the dealership and had them take a look at it. A few days later, they "fixed" it and told me it was a battery issue and that it was resolved. Two days later, the exact same thing happened AGAIN while I was on a 1 way street. It was INCREDIBLY dangerous, because it happened right before I had to go up an S curve. It was in the middle of a storm and there were a lot of cars going the other way and a lot of cars behind me. I turned on my hazard lights and had to go up the curve very slowly and there was somewhere I could turn right. Since my steering wheel was locked, I wasn't able to turn onto the street and ended up in a patch of grass. My car is currently at the dealership again. They told me it was a wiring issue and they are going to keep it and test drive it a few times.

Instrument cluster failed. Jeep required me to send them the entire cluster (Vehicle Dash) in order for us to order new part. Submitting the cluster means I do not have access to the manual gages (speed, warning lights, and fuel gage). You also cannot hear your blinker signal or know if your high beams are on or off. You do not know how much gas in your tank and can run out at any given point (I have pictures of police helping as this happen to me; it is dangerous). There is an open file i have with jeep. They are aware of the issue. I told the dealership in Sept of 2024 it was flickering and they said it wasn't doing it when they had it serviced so there was nothing they could do. I took it in to another mechanic in May of 2025 once it was failed completely. Jeep informed my mechanic in May the part would be in. Then they emailed me (once i filed a compliant with their customer service )the part would be in by End of Aug. Now they are saying the End of September (subject to change). I requested a loaner vehicle in order to keep my family safe and they denied my request. The car was bought brand new and cannot be inspected until the dash is replaced. Jeep has old dash and has not provided me with the replacement part (I already paid for). It is dangerous. The reason we are told the part is not available is because many 2020 jeeps are having same issue.

The digital instrument panel cluster display went blank while the vehicle was in use, eliminating the digital speedometer, fuel level, coolant temperature, odometer, gear position indicator, and warning telltales. The analog speedometer and tachometer continued to function. Loss of gear position and warning indicators while driving is a safety concern. On 4/21/2026 an authorized Jeep dealer diagnosed the condition as "cluster circuit board internal failure" and recommended cluster replacement at a quoted cost of several thousand dollars, with no coverage offered. I had the failed display module replaced by an independent specialist on 5/5/2026 for $650. This is the same root cause and symptom described in NHTSA Recall 24V-652 (internal short circuit in the instrument panel cluster producing a blank screen), but this VIN is not included in that recall population. FCA instead issued a warranty extension (XZ1) covering the blank-display condition for 15 years/150,000 miles. I submitted a reimbursement claim under that extension with the dealer repair order and the independent invoice. FCA denied it twice, citing reasons that do not appear in the warranty extension letter. I am filing this complaint because the failure appears to extend beyond the current recall population, and because the warranty extension offered in place of a recall did not result in reimbursement.

Shortly after leaving my house I glanced at the digital readout for my speed and noticed that the instrument cluster was blank. I pulled over, stopped my Jeep, then restarted it to see if that would correct it, which it did not. I took it to a reputable auto/electrical garage who at first noticed a master fuse block blown and replaced the fuse block. That didn't correct the instrument cluster however but they did find a recall 30B for 2020 Jeep Wrangler. I called Stellantis (1 800 334 9200) today, Feb 16th . I was told by 3 different people in 3 different departments that even though there is a safety recall on 2020 Jeeps my VIN# isn't included. I asked why not and was told that it depended where the Jeep was made. They also told me that the repair will be at my expense. This doesn't seem fair to me because the recall is a safety issue to replace the instrument panel cluster free of charge. Just because my Jeep VIN# wasn't included doesn't mean it wasn't going to fail like the others that were included!! I have no readouts on my dashboard and am sure it won't even pass inspection now because of that, let alone serious safety concerns without warning lights. I have to ask you, SHOULDN'T MY JEEP BE INCLUDED IN THIS SAFETY RECALL AND BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER?!?! Thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter! I am reporting significant premature rust on my 2020 Jeep wrangler. The rust is visible on all four doors and the hood. The vehicle has been properly maintained, regularly washed, and has not been exposed to unusual or extreme environmental conditions that would justify this level of corrosion. The rust appears along the bottom edges and seams of each door, as well as along the leading edge of the hood. These areas show bubbling paint and visible oxidation, which is spreading. Given that this vehicle is only five years old, this level of corrosion is unacceptable and inconsistent with the quality and durability expected from Jeep. Warranty Considerations: This issue should be covered under Jeep’s 5-year/unlimited mile corrosion (perforation) warranty and/or the basic corrosion coverage, as the rust appears to originate from beneath the paint along factory seams — suggesting a defect in materials or workmanship, not owner neglect. Action Requested: I am requesting that Jeep/Stellantis authorize a warranty repair to remove the rust, treat the affected panels, and repaint to factory standards to prevent further deterioration. Given the extent of corrosion at this age, I believe this warrants prompt attention and resolution under warranty coverage. This has been a known issue on 2018 to current Jeep Wrangler and they have not resolved the issue. They keep selling Jeep Wrangler with this issue.

My engine cut off without warning at a very busy intersection. I was stuck in busy traffic. I could not get it restarted or out of park. (I am a resident of Altavista, Va. 24517 This incident occurred in South Boston, Va.,approx. 40-45 miles from where I live.) A South Boston Policeman stopped and a fire dept. employee offered their assistance (and were very helpful). They were almost hit by cars several times from each side. I knew I had to get the vehicle out of the middle of the street, so I asked the policeman to call a local garage to send a rollback (tow truck) to get it out of the street and the dangerous traffic. The local garage was equipped with a machine that showed what was wrong, The final settings had to be made by a Jeep dealer. The garage took it to a Jeep dealer in Henderson, NC. (approx. 44 miles from South Boston, Va). Personal in the service department informed us said that they had know this to happen before. The Jeep has a primary and secondary battery (the stop and go system). I understand that if the primary battery goes dead without warning, the secondary battery tries to pick up the entire electrical load and the smaller battery cannot handle it and it destroys the fuse block. Both batteries and the fuse block had to be replaced. I was without a car for approx. two weeks, and a great deal of expense ($1,391.64). I am now wondering if and when it will happen again.

Hi, my name is [XXX] and I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, I bought this car on July of 2021 and I started to have problems on October of 2022 the car was shaking but it wasn’t that bad, but on Nov of 2022 I was traveling from Phoenix to Nogales AZ driving at approximately 75m/h and the car started to shake really bad I almost lost control of the car it felt like the car was gonna fall apart, I had my daughter with me she’s traumatized she has Down syndrome she doesn’t like getting in the car no more and I don’t blame her, so once I was back to Phoenix I went to the Jeep dealership and they told me it was a problem with the steering wheel and that they have to order the part, I waited close to 3 months and they didn’t have the part, on Feb 20 2023 I had a car accident caused by the death wobble, I was driving on the freeway at approximately 60m/h and on a little bump the car started to wobble really bad that I lost control of it and hit the median cable barriers and damaged the front of the car I got really traumatized and got a ticket that day, I tried to talk with the Jeep company and they said that the car wasn’t cover by the warranty no more. I missed work that day and my car for like 2 months until it was completely fixed, this is a very danger situation people can loose their life with this problem. I was driving my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 34,950 miles on it on the night of 12/13/2022 along I 89 in New Hampshire at a steady 65mph in 6th gear in the far-left lane. Suddenly the tachometer started soaring towards the redline. Before it hit redline, there was an explosion underneath the Jeep. As I looked in the mirror to get to the side of the road, I saw two chunks of glowing hot metal exiting the underside. There were no warning lights or other indication of what was about to happen. I got it safely to the breakdown lane. Someone called in a small brush fire because a fire truck showed up, then a couple of State Police Troopers showed up and helped call a tow truck. It cost $350 for the tow to the nearest dealership and the Uber home. At the dealership I could see a huge crack in the transmission case. From the repair order included, there was damage to the clutch, transmission, starter, flywheel, electrical harness and main seal. I was told the faulty parts were returned to Jeep for inspection. There was a recall on the clutch pressure plate (21V-028) and the "repair" had been completed on my vehicle. The "repair" did not work and people are going to get hurt. Although no one was injured this time, this could have ended very badly if the hot metal shrapnel cut a tire or hit a car behind me. From my little bit of research, this failure is becoming quite common and many people are driving a ticking time bomb.

Driving on I-35 North (Texas) in the morning requires driving directly into the sun rise. I utilize my sun visor daily in order to maintain a safe view of the road, where people are frequently driving over 80 miles per hour. One morning on the way to work, I put my sun visor down so that I could see past the sun glare on my windshield. The sun visor then fell from its open position as I went over a bump in the road. At this point, the visor was hanging several inches lower than it normally does, almost completely obscuring my view of the road. The visor was not able to fall completely, because it was attached to the top of the car via electrical wiring. If it had fallen completely, I would have been in a much safer position. I needed to pull over ASAP but was unable to do so due to the construction on the highway and therefore had to hold the visor up with one hand while driving with the other until I could find a safe place to stop. The visor is still in the same state as it was when it initially failed. I have had to tape it up and am therefore unable to use it at all. There is no replacement part for the failed piece of plastic within the visor's housing. It requires replacement of the entire assembly, and that will contain the same part that failed in the first place. This seems to be a fairly common problem and has been discussed at length online, including at this website: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/sun-visor-fix.44865/

The day my husband purchased this vehicle for me, I drove down to my house on a highway (speed limit was 55 MPH), I noticed steering wheel starts wobbling at a speed of 50-55 MPH, it wobbled more going around the curb, it really scared me so I had to stop the car and ask my husband to drive and see what his opinion on the loose steering wheel. He said he felt the same wobble as I did and called the sales person to have their service department check it out. This vehicle is doing same things that it had described in the death wobble class action lawsuit. This is brand new 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, their top of the line Jeep. Two days later, my car was in the shop, they checked it out and said steering wheel was defective and needed to order the part which was not available until November and gave me a number to call the Chrysler parts department for speedy delivery on the part. The case manager said parts will not be available until November no matter who called because they have a lot of people waiting on this part(a new steering gear). The manufacturer knew that they were putting out vehicles with defective parts and dealer knew that this vehicle had the bad parts since it was in their tbs but they still selling these vehicles on their car lot. Since then, they got the new part and replaced it but still had the same wobbly steering wheel, very scary feeling. I have the detailed notes on what has happened with this vehicle. My husband purchased this vehicle with 575 miles on it.

Steering wheel electrical failure. Melted wiring inside steering wheel. Potential airbag and steering safety failure. Serious safety defect. Fire risk! While getting ready to leave a retail parking lot with heated steering wheel on, we became overwhelmed with fumes. Noticed the steering wheel was hot. Immediately shut off the car and opened the doors. When the fumes subsided, started the car and made sure the heated steering wheel was off. It no longer worked at all, when car was re-started. This could have been life threatening had we been traveling on the highway and not in a parking lot. Took vehicle to our dealer- Central Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge for repair. Dealer service advisor unable to diagnose exact cause due to extent of damage. Also commented shock that we didn’t experience a fire that could have caused the airbag to explode as well. Service advisor stated steering wheel heating element short and steering wheel wiring to clock spring melted due to excessive heat in circuit. I requested photos. I received one photo. I do not believe there were further inspections. Repairs were completed at my expense. Both dealership and Stellantis refuse to cover the cost of repairs citing I had no warranty coverage. I believe this goes beyond normal wear and tear. I did smell something mild, like sugar burning earlier in our errands yet it dissipated quickly and I assumed it was outside, in the air. It wasn’t until the overwhelm of fumes upon starting the car in a retail parking lot that we became aware there was a serious problem and immediately turned the car off.

The entire instrument cluster failed on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler and had to be completely replaced at the dealer. One day, when starting the vehicle, the entire cluster was off with no advanced warnings, no speedometer, no fuel gauge, no warning lights, no odometer, and no information display of any kind. The vehicle would still operate, but all gauges and dashboard functions were non-functional. To make matters worse, this occurred as we were leaving the hospital with our [XXX] child during a snowstorm. Our child had just been admitted for three days to the PICU for RSV-related issues. The safety of our infant was directly put at risk due to the complete loss of all dashboard and warning information while driving in hazardous conditions. We took the vehicle to the Plainfield, Indiana Jeep dealership and were informed that the entire instrument cluster needed to be replaced. We were charged $1,526 for this repair. Now, approximately one year later, the replacement instrument cluster is exhibiting similar issues. While driving, the cluster will randomly flicker or blink, indicating the underlying electrical or instrument-panel defect was not fully resolved. During these events, visibility of speed, warnings, and vehicle status is temporarily lost. This remains an ongoing safety concern. Given that NHTSA has opened an investigation into Jeep instrument-cluster failures, I believe this issue represents a systemic defect rather than an isolated incident and warrants further review. Component or System That Failed: The instrument cluster on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon failed on February 25, 2025. The dealership confirmed the part was defective and removed it from the vehicle. The failed component is not currently installed, but the dealership retained documentation of the diagnosis and can confirm the failure. Safety Risk: The failure of the instrument cluster renders the vehicle completely inoperable. Without this component, the driver cannot monitor critical safety information such as vehicle speed, warning indicators, or fuel level. Additionally, the extended parts backorder means the vehicle has been disabled for months, leaving me without safe transportation. If this type of failure were to occur while driving, it could result in a sudden loss of critical safety data and increase the risk of an accident. Problem Confirmation: Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the authorized Jeep dealership where the vehicle has remained since February 25, 2025. They diagnosed the instrument cluster as the root cause of the failure. Inspection by Manufacturer or Others: The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by the Jeep dealership. Jeep/Stellantis Customer Care has also been notified and opened Case #93386471, but has not provided a resolution. No inspection by police, insurance, or other third parties has occurred. Warning Lamps, Messages, or Symptoms Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps, error codes, or prior symptoms before the cluster failed. The failure was sudden, and the instrument cluster stopped functioning entirely on February 25, 2025.

I am not clear 100 percent but the brand new car (leased) was brought in 3 separate times with electrical issues (towed twice) when it had under 20k miles on it In Jan 2023 when I was driving on a major parkway in NY the electrical system went-my steering locked up and I had to somehow get off road and onto median. I was towed to a gas station in Hempstead I believe then had to pay to town home (I forgot to call keep roadside as my sod was not working ) It is now sitting in ny in my moms driveway -I am due to return the leased card in march so I am still paying for an inoperable car I flew to FL which is where I now live and needed a car so went to Schumaker jeep in Delray I have a new jeep that appears to have failed testing (I found a piece of paper in console (vin for this new car is [XXX]) And the radio console screen and interior lights dim out of nowhere or go completely black even though radio/etc on. I’ve reported to dealers here in FL -to the Chrysler capital corporate and keep corporate phones-have 2 case numbers with no follow up. Went to a keep dealer to have diagnostic testing but looks like that didn’t really happen as I wasn’t given a sheet showing the completed testing. I’m not sure how to resolve my issues and I’m worried I’m again in an unsafe car which seems to be missing safety protections (side view mirror blind spot alerts) my 2020 keep had and def seems to have some electrical issues or has failed battery charging, I don’t know how to get help for either car and am worried I’m driving an unsafe car. 2020 Jeep Wrangler unlimited Sahara complaint. VIN: [xxx] date of purchase 07/20/2020 I leased a brand new 2020 Jeep Wrangler unlimited Sahara with a 2.0 4CYL turbo. I am loving everything about the car except the steering. The steering on this vehicle is terrible and dangerous!!! The steering is loose and on it's own, it will drift or float to either side, right or left, on a smooth dry surface at virtually any speed. It is even worse at higher speeds. It cannot steer straight like any normal vehicle. This is a seriously dangerous problem that Jeep should be instituting a recall and repair order for! I've instructed my family members to contact our attorney if anyone is involved in a crash with this vehicle that receives injury, serious bodily injury or death. My family members will inform our attorney that this dangerous problem existed since the day it was purchased and that the manufacturer (Jeep) knew about this from numerous complaints from customers, and yet so far has failed to institute a recall for repair. Check online and you will find many owners complaining about their new wrangler's steering problem. Online aftermarket companies are attempting to sell products that "May" resolve the problem. Why should any new owner have to spend money on an after market product for a brand new car? If Jeep does not initiate a recall, I will write complaints and negative reviews everywhere I can and this will be the last time I purchase one. I will recommend to everyone not to purchase a Jeep product because of this gross negligence. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (FOIA), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *Tr

STEERING

On September 16 2019 my wife and I purchased a 2020 Jeep Wrangler, we only drove it about an eighth of a mile I didn't see a reason to go any further because we were trading in a 2014 that steers and stays on the road perfectly. It was late in the day when we picked it up and we wanted to go towards the mall to get something to eat the Jeep was all over the road extra movement in the steering wheel it didn't correspond to any movement of the tires it was exhausting to drive it to and from the mall. I took it in the next day to have the service manager drive it he didn't see a problem he told my salesman I went for a ride with my salesman and he could see the problem and feel it in the steering wheel. I went the next day and ask the service manager to go with me for a drive I asked him do you see the problem he said what am I looking for which was bologna because I know he can feel it he said they would look into it see if there were any recalls I told him the internet is full of the problems something has to be done I won't let my wife drive this vehicle I know in the recall numbers that you had that I checked first it doesn't say anything about me but this Jeep is a load of trouble please help us whatever can be done we need it we're not driving it unless we have to and then only I will do it the only extra thing I could say is if the service manager took it for a ride on the curved roads up behind the dealership which is greenwood auto in cortland Ohio if you're constantly turning a wheel it's not as noticeable because you're taking the slack out of the turn otherwise you've got I'm not sure possibly three or four inches of free play

Vehicle Information: 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Complaint: I am reporting a safety issue involving my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon related to both the transmission and instrument cluster. In 2025, the transmission failed unexpectedly. The failure affected the vehicle’s ability to operate normally and created a potential safety hazard while driving. The issue required repair and appears consistent with other reported transmission problems in similar vehicles, even though my specific VIN was not included in any recall. In 2026, the instrument cluster failed, mileage at time of failure 108073. This caused loss or malfunction of critical driver information, including speed and warning indicators. This is a serious safety concern because it limits the driver’s ability to monitor vehicle operation and respond to potential hazards. These failures occurred within a year of each other and involve critical vehicle systems. I am aware that similar issues (transmission and instrument cluster failures) have been reported and/or recalled in other 2020 Jeep Wrangler vehicles, but my VIN has not been included. Given that the same components have failed in my vehicle, I believe this indicates a broader defect that may extend beyond the currently identified recall population. Safety Risk: Both failures pose safety risks: •Transmission failure can lead to loss of power or control while driving •Instrument cluster failure prevents the driver from seeing speed, warnings, and other critical information Request: I request that this issue be investigated and that the recall scope be reviewed and potentially expanded to include additional affected vehicles like mine.

Component or System: Driver’s sun visor assembly (hinge/mounting bracket near top left of windshield). Description of the Problem: While driving, the driver’s sun visor became loose at the hinge where it connects to the plastic mounting near the top left corner of the windshield. The visor then detached completely and was left hanging by the electrical cord, obstructing my forward view and creating an immediate safety hazard. Safety Risk: The detached visor blocked my line of sight while driving and could easily cause a collision if it occurs at highway speeds or in traffic. Additionally, with the bracket broken, the visor can no longer be used to block sunlight, increasing the risk of glare and impaired visibility during sunrise or sunset. Inspection and Confirmation: The issue was verified by a Jeep dealership; however, they stated that there was no permanent repair available other than visor replacement. This occurred several years ago while the jeep was still under warranty. Availability for Inspection: The defective visor is available for inspection upon request. Reproduction of the Problem: Based on multiple online reports and discussions found on Google and Reddit, this appears to be a common occurrence among Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles, specifically involving the driver’s sun visor detaching or becoming loose at the hinge. There are multiple videos/pictures of people complaining and asking how to fix the loose/broken clips for visors. Something more reliable that the OEM as it keeps malfunctioning. Warning Lamps or Messages: No warning lamps or messages were displayed prior to the failure. The visor detached suddenly without any indication.

The contact owned a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that there were strong fumes coming from the vehicle, causing the contact to sustain severe headaches and nausea. The contact had gone to the Doctor's Office, where blood work was completed. The contact was informed that no issues were found, and the Doctor inquired whether the contact had been exposed to any chemicals. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that fuel was leaking from a cracked quick connect and was entering the high fuel pump. The dealer determined that the high-pressure fuel pump lines needed to be replaced. The dealer related the failure to an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated while driving approximately 10-20 MPH off a ramp, the contact noticed smoke in front of the vehicle. The contact looked at the instrument cluster, and upon looking up, the contact noticed fire coming from underneath the hood. The contact depressed the brake pedal and jumped out of the vehicle while the vehicle was still rolling. The contact had not pulled over. The contact did not sustain injuries from the fire. A nearby Police Officer notified the Fire Department and Emergency Services because the contact had jumped out of the moving vehicle without the cellphone. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department. The front end and the hood of the vehicle were burned to the ground. It was unknown whether a Fire Department Report was filed. A Police Report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss by the Insurance Provider. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,959.

Vehicle intermittently does not turn back on after engine shuts off during normal electronic start system operation. Engine shuts off when nearly and at a stop. When releasing the brake pedal, the engine does not turn back on. There have been three occurrences as follows: occurrence 1 6/27/2020: exiting the thruway and nearly at a complete stop at a light at exit when the engine shut off due to ess system. Upon releasing the brake to begin driving, the engine failed to turn on. Operator was pushing gas pedal to go, the engine remained off. Remedy was to tap the brake again in which the engine turned on and was able to move. Occurrence 2 7/13/2020: came to a stop in traffic on a street. Engine shut off due to ess system as designed. Upon releasing the brake, the engine did not restart. Operator pushing gas pedal multiple times and engine still did not turn back on, sitting 'dead' in the middle of traffic. Attempting to push the push start button did not turn vehicle back on. Remedy again was to push brake pedal again and engine turned on. Occurrence 3 August 2,2020: operator in traffic, came to a complete stop. Released brake pedal to begin moving. Engine did not turn back on, and shifter 'd' symbol began flashing. Tapping brake pedal would not restart vehicle. Dashboard stated 'shift to p to park', to place vehicle in park position. Placed vehicle into park, had to restart engine by pushing start button. Engine turned on and was able to move. I have a video showing the third occurrence, however this submission only allows picture format so took snapshots of code. Sent video to fca, have multiple recorded visits to dealer to find issue, no root cause determined at this point. Requested refund/replacement.

An internal defect in the 2014-2020 Jeep Wranglers with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine affects its rocker arms, lifters, and related valvetrain components, including the engine control module (ECM) software that controls the precise timing and function of the lifters. Specifically, the rollers of a Pentastar engine’s rocker arms prematurely wear down, become loose, and then drop, which shifts the rocker arm out of alignment. The rocker arms then come into contact with the cam, scraping both components and creating metal debris. This Pentastar V6 engine defect creates an audible ticking sound that stems from metal particles and debris from the failed rocker arms and other components, contaminating the engine oil and circulating throughout the engine. This defect also causes engine misfires, resulting in bucking and surging, decreased engine performance, hesitation, loss of power, premature wear on internal components, and eventually catastrophic engine failure. The check engine light came on in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 69,000 miles. After having it read by a dealer, it showed the P219A code, Bank 1 air/fuel imbalance. The dealership told me that if the Jeep was running fine, I did not have to worry about it, as it was likely an O2 sensor. The code was cleared, and the P219A code returned the following day. It was driven approximately 500 miles before noticing that it began idling roughly and had an engine tick, which the dealership confirmed to be a valvetrain issue. The rocker arms, lifters, valves, and camshaft components of the Pentastar V6 engine in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 70,000 miles have failed. Three Jeep dealerships in my area and MANY online forums stated that this is a common occurrence with this engine, which has escalated my concern about this problem.

Had to take my 2020 wrangler in to have accessory battery replaced as it had drained my newly purchased battery and my car wouldn’t start. Repair shop replaced both batteries and about a week later the check engine light came on for about 2 minutes then went off so I chalked it up to the battery replacement. It didn’t come back on again until about 3 weeks later when I started feeling a slip when going in to second gear. When I got home after having that issue I noticed a small collection of what looked to me like transmission fluid on my garage floor so I had the car towed to the repair shop again. They informed me that engine oil was mixing with coolant due to a bad oil cooler. Between that diagnosis and my car completely breaking down and cracking my engine block the car was driven a total of 14 miles at the most. There was never any other signs prior to me taking it to the shop that the oil cooler had gone bad and even when they replaced the batteries no codes came up for the bad oil cooler and nobody noticed anything while working in the area. . Since then I have learned that this has been an ongoing issue with the wrangler since at least 2012 models and there has been several class action suits that were settled out of court I’m assuming so they don’t have to spend the money recalling and repairing every affected vehicle and finding a fix for future models. Meanwhile I have only had my car for 2 years as of last week and now am being charged $15000 $8000 of which I have to pay up front to even find out how long the parts needed will be on back order. Could be a week could be a year. Not to mention that I have no car to drive and a car payment to make while I wait. This needs to be fixed as these cars are overheating out of nowhere and shutting down when it does. It’s a safety issue as well as a consumer issue.

On 8/3/2020 with 300 miles battery is dead. On 8/13/2020 took to dealership and found nothing. 8/13 engine died at a signal and radio shuts down. Jeep is fine for 9 days without engine light on. 8/24 engine light returns on. 8/25 engine dies at a signal, and the radio shuts down. While on the freeway, battery lights, ABS, and traction/stabilizer lights come on. The power steering goes out, and was hard to steer. The heater comes on via defrost vents blasting hot air and unable to turn off. Power acceleration goes out. Very scarey and dangerous. All lights are flashing on dash panel and the car is dies. Jeep towed to dealership. On 8/27 the technician tried to charge batteries for one and half hours on 1ST attempt with no success. Technician said battery severely discharged and they could not retrieve information. On 8/31 after hours on a charge on the 2ND attempt, the batteries charge and technician cleared all codes technician drove it a couple of days (mileage is now 670) and because no codes returned "on", says the Jeep is fixed. On 9/3 we pick up the Jeep. The next day 9/4 new panel lights come on for the parksense system. The dash panel says to wipe clean. They are clean. The turn on/off button light continues to blink. Opened a case # 77098337 with Jeep care on 8/31 and have had no help and sent detailed documention and videos of the problems. The cause is definitely electrical with the batteries not being able to hold a charge. We are in fear of driving this Jeep and being stranded somewhere remote and have what happened to us happen again ending in an injury accident or death because of the loss of power to steering and acceleration. Extremely dangerous. We thought the Jeep was going to catch fire because of the heat coming out of the vents. Please help! I have videos but cannot upload here so took screenshots from the videos.

Near high speed crash situation, twice, for fault that the dealership has confirmed but does not have a solution for! First incident... Had to gently swerve on freeway when a car pulled into my lane without warning. Almost lost control, back end fishtailed horribly, turned the steering wheel back the other way to attempt to take control and massive oversteer caused the car to jump 2 lanes the other way. Lucky not to crash. Dealership took vehicle in a said there was a known fault that needed addressing! The vehicle had not been recalled, so if it is a known fault that is frightening. The had to get a part in which took approx 10 days. They also made some changes to the power steering. Car returned to us. On first drive on same stretch of freeway (70 and 75 MPH), we were in a similar situation/incident. Again it should have been a bit of "nothing" situation, with a little swerve and that's all. Instead we once again lost control and spent approx 15 seconds getting under control and securely in one lane. It went back to dealership. The had for 12 days with zero update/contact. Then they told me a specialist had been pulled in and he had driven it and confirmed a safety issue at high speeds. The car was ordered through this dealership with large wheels as part of the package/order. The specialist switched to factory wheels and tested again - he said it was now ok, so wheels are the issue. The dealership offered one solution to make the car safe after this - put the factory wheels back on. No! If we could only have has factory wheels we would never have purchased a Wrangler in the first place! It's like buying a white car and then being told it has to be repainted red, when one hates red cars - not acceptable. The car has been in the dealership for more days than in our possession, and we cannot safely drive it on the freeway in the ordered form. Shocking

I am the origional owner of this vehicle. The vehicle has approximately 67,000 miles on it. I own a Mopar premier extended warranty covering the vehicle for 7 years, or 100,000 miles, whatever comes first. My complaint, which I believe creates a severe safety hazard on a public roadway, is the inner front fender wheel lines have failed on three different occasions requiring replacement. When the liners fail, it leaves exposed the 4 individual brake lines from the master cylinder. Road debris, when the inner fender wheel well is missing, can easily strick the brake lines by road debris thrown from the front tire while driving leading to brake failure and loss of control which can result in injury up to and including death to the driver, occupants, or others. I have contacted corporate Jeep on two different occasions to ask for repairs, and they refused to correct the issue. Their position is the vehicle is beyond the 3 year, 36,000 mile initial warranty, and my extended warrenty will not cover the repair as this wheel well liner is considerd a "trim piece". I am looking to NHTSA for assistance as this failure is something that should be mandated for a safety recall, and the dealer has told me the design of the liner on the JL series is prone to failure. I have owned 4 other Jeep Rubicon's over the past 10-15 years, and this has not been an issue on my other vehicles prior to the redesign of current Jeep Wrangler JL series. I have filed a complaint with Jeep, and they refuse to escallate my issue. The dealer says they cannot address the issue without corporate approval, and Jeep does not have a work flow to escallate the issue internally. I have photos which will clearly show the exposed 4 brake lines at the upper edge of the frame rail. I attempted to upload 8 photos of approximately 80-90 KB each. Your web portal would not accept any photos. Help me submit photos for review.

I just purchased my 4th Wrangler last month from a dealership - a 2020 Certified Pre-Owned Unlimited Sport Willys 2.0L with Automatic transmission. Within the first days, I noticed odor of fuel or exhaust that would be more obvious some times than others, and not constantly strong or apparent. At first I thought maybe it was from being in garage at dealer and something on a mat, but then it continued and was more apparent if I had the windows closed and the heat on. Called the dealer two weeks ago and got an appointment to have it checked this past Friday. First I was told I’m probably not used to it if it’s my first “turbo” (which made no sense), then they came back to tell me it’s probably dirty air filters (which they should’ve checked/changed when they inspected it before selling it because it was at 31,200mi). Then they decided to take it for a ride and, lo and behold, they smelled what I have been smelling. They put it back on the lift to look again. Diagnosis: Fuel leak from the connector to the high pressure fuel line. I see there were some JLs with 2.0L manufactured the same year recalled for this, but they insisted mine wasn’t. Search online confirms it’s not included in the recall. I had no luck getting anywhere when I called Jeep customer service either. The dealer wants to charge me my extended warranty deductible when I haven’t even made my first payment on it yet. (According to vehicle records, 3 years for manufacturer warranty was up Nov 2022, and it has less than 32,500mi.) They insisted they keep it while waiting for the part for repair because it’s unsafe to drive, and put me in a rental (which they told me they didn’t have available when I asked for the appointment). I think this is clearly a safety issue consistent with other recalls for this model and should be repaired at no cost to me. Perhaps the initial recall didn’t include all the vehicles it should have.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Failed Recall Repair and Improper Diagnostics Charges - Jeep Recall No. 23V116 (Manual Transmission Clutch Overheating) & Violation of 49 U.S.C. Section 30120 Dear Sir or Madam, I am submitting this complaint regarding an unresolved safety defect and improper repair charges related to an official recall performed on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler (manual transmission). The issue concerns Recall No. 23V116 and superseding Recall 21V028, which addresses clutch overheating and associated software logic. Prior to the recall work performed, my Jeep had approximately 23,000 miles on it, and I never had any issues with the manual transmission or transmission related warning codes. In May, I received letters informing me that I needed to take my Jeep to the dealership as soon as possible to have the above recall work performed to avoid potential overheating and fire hazards related to my clutch plate. In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to Don White's Jeep dealership on York Rd. in Cockeysville, MD. The dealership replaced the clutch hardware and performed a software update as required. I did not drive the Jeep for a couple of months due to weather and frequent rainfall during June, July & August. Upon driving the Jeep in August, the "Service Transmission" light came on, and I immediately notified the dealership, and they performed a software update to fix the warning light, admitting they did not realize the software update was required the first time. Two days later, the "Service Transmission" light came on again, and I immediately notified the dealership and dropped the Jeep off to be serviced. The dealership has now had the Jeep for more than a month and has not been able to resolve the "Service Transmission" issue. They are now refusing to perform any additional work unless I pay them approx. $1,000 in diagnostics fees. I opened a case with Jeep Customer Care and they also refused coverage and are demanding payment.

My vehicle is still at the Jeep dealership service center being repaired, but so far, the reported issue includes a "shorted" fuse block. As I was driving the vehicle, I was approaching a red light when my vehicle abruptly halted. The cars behind & near me were forced to go around to avoid hitting my vehicle. The dashboard initially flashed the message "safety mode" or something similar, the check engine light came on, the brakes locked, & the power steering & windows ceased to function. While I waited for the police, I tried to restart the vehicle many times, in hopes of getting it into neutral and/or getting it off of the roadway - nothing worked. The vehicle then began to flash the message "Service Electronic Stability Control." The DOTD serviceman & the tow truck driver were unable to get the vehicle into neutral manually, so it had to be dragged using chains. Once the vehicle was towed to the Jeep dealership (Covington, LA), I was first told that the battery had a voltage of 0. After replacing the battery, I was told that the fuse block was shorted. The representative explained the fuse block's purpose, & further explained that because mine shorted, the battery was unable to communicate with the rest of the vehicle, like the alternator & the PCM, on how much voltage was coming out of the system - i.e., since my computer shorted, the vehicle did not know that the battery was dead. Thus, when the battery killed abruptly while driving, the vehicle basically panicked & went into “safe mode” (limp mode) & locked up the entire machine. I asked repeatedly how this happens and how it can be avoided in the future, and while dancing around many indirect answers, the rep stated that my fuse block in this instance basically caused a complete electronic failure of the vehicle. I am an attorney & I have spoken with experts who suggest that this issue should be investigated. It is a serious hazard & a defect for one glitched part to kill the entire machine while driving.

On January 2, 2023, at about 4:00 PM I encountered the ‘Death Wobble’ while driving in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler (2-door) VIN: [XXX], purchased from Dave Smith Motors, Kellogg, ID on about 7/17/2020. I was driving North on I-15 about 10 miles South of Nephi, UT. I was traveling in the left lane at Freeway speeds (75-80 mph) when the front of the vehicle commenced to shake violently. My first thought was that both front tires had blown, although I did not observe any obstacles on the wet driving lanes. My second thought was, how do I get out of these mess without causing a major accident on that very busy stretch of Freeway holiday traffic? I, of course, braked and pulled to the left in an attempt to avoid getting rear-ended and immediately encountered snow and ice on the left shoulder and then on the ground adjacent to the Freeway. I managed to get off the Freeway, but continued to fishtail, almost losing control on the snow and ice. Eventually the vehicle ended up in a sideways slide perpendicular to the Freeway with the front of the vehicle aimed at the Freeway and heavy TRAFFIC! At that point I had no control over the vehicle as it continued to slide sideways headed for a huge drainage ditch. Luckily, we stopped before the precipice. I scrambled out of the vehicle as soon as it stopped sliding to see what had happened to the front end of the Jeep. There was no obvious damage, the tires were not flat, and I couldn’t figure out what had happened. I have now received a NOTICE OF PROPOSED CLASS SETTLEMNT, that upon further research informs me that 2020 Jeep Wranglers have a manufacture defect that causes the ‘Death Wobble’ in precisely the conditions that existed with me. “…2020 Jeep Wranglers …have a front suspension steering damper defect that causes the steering wheel and front suspension of the vehicle to shake after contact with a bumpy road surface at highway speed.” I was not aware of the Manufacturer's defect. The JEEP is unsafe!! INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO

I purchased this 2020 Jeep Wrangler from SunToyota car dealership in Holiday, FL on [XXX]. There have been several ongoing concerning safety issues with this vehicle and the car dealership over the past year since I purchased it. My vehicle has had immediate malfunctions and service visits upon purchase. On 12/31/24, the car went to the shop for broken visor (as is) as listed on service invoice- during this same visit I explained that turn signals lights were not functioning properly- was told that it was too much labor and they are aftermarket lights that the dealership cannot fix- dealership did not attempt to rectify the issue at this time. Broken visor/turn signal lights did not function properly upon purchase of the vehicle. In February, the car had what is known as the “death wobble” on major highways [XXX] and [XXX] in Florida, which was an extremely dangerous experience for all passengers in the vehicle. Invoice from 2/27/25 reflects suspension concern in regards to “death wobble” that was rectified, but again highly unsafe, and vehicle is beginning to shake again at high speeds as of December 2025. Invoice from 10/19/25 highlights the turn signal malfunction once again (it was never fixed from previous visit after purchase of vehicle and continued over several months). Car was taken back to dealer. Received call on 11/11 stating it was ready, to receive another call on my way there stating another issue with lights arisen. Received call on 11/12 stating it’s ready again, service advisor not present, and ALL lights flickering severely worse. Spoke to executive director, Dylan, who stated “[XXX] things happen” and walked away. Vehicle stayed at dealership. (Invoice from 11/12 highlights the turn signal issue again.). Vehicle was returned to me on 11/28/25, where lighting and turn signals appeared to work properly. As of December 2025, the turn signals have malfunctions again. When I tried to get in contact with the dealership they didn't call back. INFORMATIO
