Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20181004-1BF95-2147385196. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung NE58F9500SS. Incident: I have this Samsung cooking range with model number NE58F9500SS and found out that is causing a danger in the kitchen because the range top knobs turns too easily. The knobs are at adult hip height and turns on with the slightest contact -- a simple brush against the stove and a burner turns on. For us this resulted in a burning some of my placemats that was on the glass top and there are other few instances that might have caused a fire if we didn't see it. -- this is a serious issue that Samsung needs to address.

Incident: My Samsung stove and oven was included in a recall for the cooktop dials being, "too sensitive", my dials after being turned off would randomly turn back on, this was something that now has become a constant whereby the dials come on by themselves and are constantly on and I am unable to turn them off. When I spoke to Samsung with regards to the recall, I confirmed what was happening and they said they would send me some kind of kit to remedy this. What they actually sent was some stick on dial covers that just cover them, it does nothing to rectify the problem and now I am constantly worried that a visiting child or a family member will burn themselves or something will accidentally catch light and cause a fire

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250919-8DE93-2147327686. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung NE58F9500SS. Incident: My elderly father must have accidentally bumped the front-facing dial on his Samsung stove, causing it to turn on and start a small fire. Luckily, he saw it start and was able to put it out without any major damage, but it could have easily burned his house down, or worse. I searched online, and this has happened ot others many times. I contacted Samsung, and they said there is no recall, but they offered to send him covers for his dials, which didn't fit. I saw that there is a recall for [REDACTED] so I really think this is a design flaw that Samsung needs to address before more fires or injuries.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140603-5ABB7-2147444003. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung NE58F9500SS. Incident: I purhased a Model# NE58F9500SS 5.8 cu ft. slide in electric range made by Samsung from The Home Depot in January 2014. It has a glass top. On several occasions either my husband or I have accidentally turned on a burner when leaning against the oven. Luckily, we have not had anything on top of the burner when it was started. However, I am fearful that this could happen and result in a fire. This oven was a replacement for another glass top oven which we had for almost 20 years. It is normal for us to set the mail and/or other items on the stove top when it is not in use. I am reporting this today because my husband accidentally turned on a burner again.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140930-324D0-2147440506. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung NE58F9500SS. Incident: We purchased a Samsung slide in range several months ago. model#NE58F9500SS On several occasions we have turned the burners on by simply brushing up against them. The knobs are in such a position that makes it far to easy for this to happen. They also turn too easily. We have always noticed and were able to turn them off before anyone got burned. However yesterday we had someone working on our backsplash and had placed a towel on the stove top to protect it. He had placed his drill case on top of the towel. As he was working the burner turned on and by the time he noticed what was happening, the drill case had melted through and when he lifted it up the towel burst into flames. He got out the fire but had he not acted quickly it could have been much worse. I feel the design of the control panel is poor and this product is unsafe.

Incident: Purchased a Samsung 30 inch self-Cleaning Slide-In Electric Convection Range. The control knobs are easily accidentally activated "on" to heat the glass burners. This is a fire hazard and a personal injury hazard to people and pets. After reading other consumers complain of this problem I thought only and idiot would have something like accidentally turning on a stove top happen to them. We bought the stove. Then it happened to us 3 times in two days. Each incident involved the cooktop being covered with protective fabric while working around the oven. Each time the burners became accidentally activated "on" without the victim's knowledge. The first time a towel was placed over the glass cook top while a handyman was installing an over the range microwave. Although the oven door was locked, a front burner knob was accidentally turned on by the handyman bumping into it and noticed when the towel was scorched and the handyman felt the heat of the scorched towel. Fortunately, he was not burned because the towel protected his hand. My husband and I needed to remove the microwave over the stove (to fix the air vent.) We had covered the glass cook top with a polyester pillow to protect it from possible damage if the microwave were accidentally dropped. We accidentally turned the stove on and didn't realize it until we smelled the pillow smoking. Fortunately, we were right near the burning pillow and removed it from the cook top before it could catch fire. The polyester pillow melte

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170524-F6B36-2147400263. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung NE58F9500SS. Incident: I purchased a new Samsung Slide in Range, Model Number NE58F9500SS. There are numerous reviews on major appliance retail store websites, YouTube Videos and other evidence to include my own personal experience that this Range poses a significant fire risk which could result in serious injury, death and loss of property. I read the reviews and was skeptical about the reports regarding the cook top control knobs. There are numerous complaints how easy it is to accidently bump the control knobs, thus turning on the cook top burners. On two occasions less than a day apart, myself and daughter both accidently turned on the cook top burners by brushing against them. Once the burner is accidently turned on there is no way to know you have done this unless you are next to the stove. If you brush against the knobs and not know you done this, causing the burner to turn on it is an extremely dangerous situation. The YouTube Video clearly demonstrates this risk as the mother walked outside with her daughter, only to return with the stove on fire. I would respectfully ask you to investigate the complaints immediately and force Samsung to correct this dangerous and defective Range. Although the Control Knobs are push and turn, the spring in the mechanism is too weak, thus causing the accidently engagement of the Control Knob.

Stainless steel, black glass top with front mounted control knobs. Manufactured in January of 2015 unknown specific date.). Incident: On two occasions, the knobs on our Samsung Glass top electric range were bumped inadvertently. This caused a burner to activate ultimately melting and setting fire to a plastic bowl that was on the glass surface. Fortunately, my wife was able to shut off the stove and remove the bowl to the sink before further fire damage occurred. This occurrence was on March 14, 2018. The first occurrence was approximately two years ago in the summer of 2016 when the knob was bumped by a passing person, activated and burned a laptop computer case. There have been several other activations caused by our children bumping into the range and activating the burners. The knobs are extremely sensitive to being "bumped" by persons working normally in the kitchen. They are mounted on the front of the range at approximately waist level. Because the accidental activation is so prevalent, we have begun to remove the knobs when the range is not in use. The model # is NE58F9500SS. It was manufactured in Thailand in January of 2015

Incident: I purchased my Samsung glass-top, built in stove from Best Buy in 2016. Since that time, there have been at least 2 incidences where an item on the cook top has burned by accident. The cause seems to be if someone leans against the front of the stove, the knobs that control the stove-top are on the front and with the least pressure and movement they will turn on the surface without anyone being aware of it. We have burned a towel, a pot, and a silicone hot pad. No one has been injured, there was no need for the fire department, but there was enough smoke to set off the fire alarms--that is how we discovered the problem. The only damage has been to my new white kitchen cabinets that were installed about the same time as the stove. There is silicone residue from the ash on all the raised surfaces of the cabinet

It is a stainless steel and glass exterior range, with 4 burners and an oven.). Incident: Fire in the kitchen: Samsung electric range Model NE58F9500ss Fire Hazard The subject range has burner control knobs on the front panel that turn on very easily with a mere bump and accidentally turn on the burners. There have been numerous fires caused by this situation and some houses have burned down. Samsung has known about this since at least 2015, but has not taken steps to rectify this danger. Going to the Samsung Community site reveals at least 97 complaints about this hazard. People just naturally put things on the glass top when not in use such as groceries, pizza boxes, backpacks, cutting boards, all sorts of things. On Oct 30, 2019, we had such a fire in our kitchen. Had we not been at home and heard the smoke alarms, the house may have burned down. A Samsung technician came to our house and said nothing was wrong with the range implying it was our fault for leaving combustible items on the glass top. He said Samsung would do nothing. There are other Samsung range models that have the same knobs. Please investigate this hazard and keep me informed of any actions. These ranges need to be recalled and fixed or replaced.

I followed the instructions on page 56 and 57 of the manual. The default setting is 3 hours which I used. The doors and front drawers of kitchen cabinet on each side of the range were damaged by the heat coming out of the oven during the cycle. I called the manufacturer they sent a technician from DISH Samsung authorized service provider on December 7, 2019. He told us that the default 3 hours is too long. He recommends to all his clients not to exceed 90 minutes because the oven reach 700 degrees Fahrenheit. In the manual nothing is mentioned about 90 minutes. But according to page 14 it says DO NOT TURN THE APPLIANCE OFF WHILE AN OPERATION IS IN PROGRESS. THIS MAY CAUSE A SPARK AND RESULT IN ELECTRIC SHOCK OR FIRE. Every customers that purchased this range should be notified immediately to avoid damages. This information should be added to the manual for customers protection: Remove all doors and drawers beside range to avoid damages. Samsung sent me an email on December 20, 2019 stating at this time the claim is being closed as this is not considered to be a mechanical defect.

Product: Samsung NE58F9500SS (Samsung slide in electric range, model NE58F9500SS - it is stainless steel, smooth top and approximate dimensions 30w x 36h x 26d inches.). Incident: The issue involves an oven overheating well beyond the set temperature to extreme levels. The product is a Samsung model NE58F9500SS electric stove, purchased around 2015 and in use since. Recently, I was baking food and started to smell it burning in about a quarter of the normal cooking time. Opening the stove I could see the food was charred black and smoking - the internal temperature of the oven was very hot and observed the upper element was on. Thinking I had mistakenly selected the wrong oven mode, we used the oven again only to experience the same issue. Testing without food, we've tried different cooking modes (bake, convection bake) and the result is the same; the oven will come to temperature and signal that pre-heating is complete and show the set temperature on the indicator panel. However, it will continue heating inside the oven with the top element on high - I measured the oven temperature with a remote thermometer to exceed 600 degrees. No injuries to report, though some damage to the finish and contents of the cabinets adjacent to the oven.

Product: Samsung NE58F9500SS (30" slide-in kitchen stove, stainless steel with black ceramic 4-burner cooktop, manufacture date July, 2014, electric). Incident: I purchased my kitchen stove, a Samsung NE58F9500SS, at a local Lowe's. The control knobs are very sensitive to touch, and the burners can easily be turned on unintentionally. Because of that, I've always been very careful to make sure the knobs are turned completely off when not in use, or I sometimes take them off completely. Recently, I needed to use the oven. I store the broiler pan inside the oven, and I also had a small pan with cooking oil in it stored inside the oven. I took the two items out of the oven and placed them on the cooktop, which was cool. I turned on the oven and baked a dessert. When I was done, I checked that the knobs were all turned off. I then left to pick up a friend and we went out for lunch. Altogether, I was away from home for approximately two and a half hours. When I arrived back home, I parked in the garage, which enters into my kitchen. As soon as I walked in, I knew something was wrong because the kitchen felt very hot. I looked towards the stove and could see an orange glow coming from under the broiler pan, on the left rear burner of the stovetop. The pan of oil was on top of the broiler pan and was starting to smoke and was hot enough to cook with. I put on oven mitts and moved the broiler pan and oil off the hot burner. I could see several long, fine cracks in the cooktop, and a small area of the cooktop where the broiler pan was touching it is actually melted! I believe that if I had arrived home any later, I might have found my house in flames. I live in a rural area with only a small, volunteer fire company 10 miles away, response t
