I would rather buy a new roster than have the same problems again. I think this toaster has the same issues as the recalled two slice version, 22600.

Incident: I burned myself on the metal part of the toaster where the toast is inserted. The burn was small and so I didn't think too much of it. However last night my 11 year old grandson was by the counter when I was toasting some bread and he did the same thing by touching his arm on this part of toaster and he got a rather bad burn about 3 inches long. I noticed that the metal part at the top of this toaster is higher than the surrounding plastic that doesn't heat up. Because the rest of the toaster doesn't get hot it is easy not to realize how hot that top part is and get burned. Also, I noticed that my other similar toaster that is a different brand had same metal area but it is recessed down inside the plastic so the hazard is almost eliminated. I've never burned myself on this one and I use it a lot. The Hamilton beach model that we got burned on is the one I use occasionally when I want to toast 4 pieces at once. I think the co. should have all the metal recessed in on plastic toasters.

I immediately removed the kettle from its stand and unplugged it. Thinking that this was an anomaly I dried off the unit and waited before using it again. It continued to malfunction in the same way, so I reported the problem to Hamilton Beach. Their representative told me that no one else had reported this problem. My concern is that this product could cause serious burns from boiling water gushing out of the spout. Fortunately I was standing far enough away that I was not injured, but this product obviously has the potential to cause serious burns.

I actually found report # 20150815-6EC23-2147429320 on this website which matches my issue exactly. Hamilton Beach was contacted and made aware of the issue. They didn't seem too concerned about the issue and only offered to replace my unit for a fee.

In our lab a burner caught on fire. It was immediately unplugged. After inspecting the burner and pot, we noticed that the coil on the burner was damaged, which created a hole through the pot where it was placed. Due to the petrolatum leaking from the hole, it started a fire about 2 to 3 feet high. It burned itself out within seconds. Thankfully no one was too close to the burner or flame. There was also a sudden loud surge of electricity and the contents within the pot splattered all around within a 3 foot radius.

Incident: In 2019 I purchased a Hamilton Beach (electric) Ceramic Griddle. In 2023 I noted the power adapter reaching untouchable temperatures exceeding 150 degrees. Later that year, I noted one of the inputs on the adapter had burned and ash was present. I reported this incident to Hamilton Beach and after significant persistence on my part, they replaced the griddle and adapter. In the fall of 2024, I noted once again that the new adapter was reaching these same temperatures making it impossible to handle without a potholder. I reached out to Hamilton Beach and was informed this was normal as it was a heating mechanism. In January 2025, I noted the inside of one of the inputs was once again beginning to burn. This seems to be a significant safety hazard that could start a fire.
