Unexplained auto braking. 1st incident Summer 2021. Was approaching intersection with a stop sign with no vehicles behind or in front of my CRV. There was 2 construction metal poles on each side of the intersection. As I approached the cars brake warning light on dash flashed. I tapped brakes to slow down released the brakes and the light returned and car suddenly braked hard before I got to stop sign. Was only going about 15 mph but braking was hard enough to throw me forward in the seat and was caught by the seatbelt. There was nothing in front of the vehicle. Happened again 2 days ago Sept. 2022. Driving on highway at daytime no vehicles in front or rear of my CRV. Brake light started flashing to hit brakes. I applied brakes, but there was nothing in front of me. Because I continued braking the auto brake did not engage this time. Talked to local Hinda dealer was told they have not heard of any issues. If it happened again they recommended getting car inspected. Also have had intermittent issues with radio display suddenly starting to dim and change brightness on its own going from black to bright repeatedly with audible beeping. Was driving car everytime this happened. Happened multiple times over last 2 yrs. Only way to stop it is to stop vehicle, turn it off and then restart it.

*This car was parked in the driveway 2 days without being driven before the following incident* ALSO- there are recalls for this make and model. Honda always said that the recalls do not include my car. Recalls should be expanded to include mine since the car is un drivable at the Honda service center. WHAT HAPPENED: Alarm went off on car in driveway. Horn constantly going off. Smoke came out around steering wheel and inside the vehicle filled with smoke. All lights came on dash. Gears were locked up and had to manually put in neutral to get on tow truck. Car is at Honda dealership in cumming GA. Said I needed steering wheel cable, srs unit, safety restraints unit, & brake boosters. They put parts on. Did same thing to them as it did in my driveway. Horn & smoke & all!! Now they say it needs steering wheel & the harness is on back order until August 28! and that my vin # is NOT on the recall but I believe it should be. This car could have caused a fire and was parked beside my house. My family and I were at risk and almost called police and fire department. Newborn baby, & other family members inside the home. Family members disconnected the battery because horn was so loud. All these repairs are headed towards $9000 & this is insane. This is my only vehicle. I must have transportation!

My 2019 Honda CR-V experienced a malfunction involving multiple dashboard warning lights illuminating at the same time, including warning messages related to vehicle systems and safety features. There is concern about the vehicle entering limp mode and being unable to accelerate normally. This creates a safety concern because the vehicle may not respond properly in traffic or during highway driving. The issue has been diagnosed by an independent mechanic, and diagnostic codes indicated a cylinder misfire/fuel system related problem. I have learned that many other Honda CR-V owners are experiencing the same issue involving multiple dashboard warning lights, fuel injector problems, fuel pump concerns, misfires, and repeated unsuccessful repairs. The vehicle has required diagnostic testing and repair recommendations that may cost thousands of dollars, yet many owners report the issue returning even after repairs. In my case, all warning lights illuminated simultaneously and the issue appears related to a larger recurring defect pattern affecting Honda CR-V vehicles. This problem poses a safety risk because the vehicle may lose power, hesitate, fail to accelerate properly, or become unreliable while driving. I am requesting investigation into this recurring issue affecting Honda CR-V vehicles.

Vehicle purchased 1/2020. Nov 2020 car had issues with the center screen going black. Had to pull over several times and to restart the car to get it to come back on. The round start button was flashing red when the vehicle was off, also the auto brake light has come on several times and there is no obstruction anywhere. Brought to dealer and they did a software update. mileage was 12,936. 5/16/22 Dead battery twice. Had AAA come to jump the vehicle. Took to local dealer mileage 29,641 battery test failed. replace battery under warranty. Had to leave the car all afternoon. 2/27/23 Car ran for 20 min, Went to move it 2 hrs later battery was dead. Had AAA come and jump it to get it to the dealer. It was going to snow for the rest of the day and we needed to get the car moved in the carport to get to our snow blower. Service closed at 5 pm. They said I could bring it and leave it in the lot for the next day. I brought it myself the next day after driving the car for an hr and starting it several times in the night. battery replaced under extended warranty plan. mileage 31,396 Was told by dealer to keep a charger on it if it was not going to be driven for more than a day. Seems to be some kind of electrical problem drawing the power down. Two batteries on a SUV with this mileage is not normal.

STEERING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11596236

Eight months ago while returning home from a road trip my steering began acting strange. Seemed sticky. Not smooth. I disengaged the cruise control but the problem was still there. After returning home it was not as noticeable unless I drove a minimum of 10-15 minutes. . Then I began hearing a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel and when driving on an interstate for about 20 minutes the effort to keep the steering wheel from sticking to the left or right becomes very tiring. A constant battle. The problem is getting worse and more pronounced. I disengaged the Lane Departure Feature but it didn’t improve anything. I’ve recently taken the vehicle to the Honda Dealer and I now have to replace the Steering Rack at a cost of $3500 before tax and front end alignment. I am waiting for a steering rack to become available as there is a nationwide shortage at this time. My dealership is familiar with this problem as they get daily complaints of this issue. I will not be driving this vehicle on my planned summer vacation until it’s fixed. I don’t feel it’s safe. The effort to overcome the stickiness in the steering wheel becomes very exhausting. I can’t imagine driving several hundred miles in this condition. Frankly, I’m not certain it’s even safe to drive any distance as I worry it may one day Lock Up.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer to have the tires checked and was advised that both rear tires had abnormal wear on the inside treads. The contact had the tires replaced; however, the tire pressure warning light illuminated after approximately six months. The contact took the vehicle to a tire shop, and it was determined that both rear tires showed abnormal wear on the inside tread. The contact purchased two more tires. The contact stated that the tire shop stated that the rear suspension was the cause of the tire wear failures. The contact was informed that both rear tires were leaning at an angle while mounted on the hubs, and the dealer was unable to properly balance the tires. The contact had the tires replaced again, and the TPMS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a different tire shop, and the failure with the suspension was confirmed. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that there were no similar reports of premature wear of the rear tires. The contact stated that he was on the fourth set of rear tires on the vehicle. The contact stated that he had replaced the rear tires with other tire brands. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

I live in Puerto RIco. I was just quoted $3,000 for new Rack and Pinion. Vehicle always maintained correctly and almost new, not even 5 years. Honda knows that this problem with the Rack and Pinions exist and is a safety concern and issue. Other three vehicles in the dealer repair shop with the same issue, one of them with only 900 miles. Other customers had to pay full price. Honda knows about this problem, a recent recall for Civics was announced for their Rack and Pinions. Many Rack and Pinions have problems and Honda has not recalled this part for CRVs. I change engine oil every 3,000 miles with high quality Synthetic oil. Honda original filter. Changed Transmission oil every 30,000 miles and coolant as well. This is a SAFETY, a costly part the Honda knows is faulty and should be recalled immediately. I'm a customer that bought this Honda CRV-Touring expecting the quality and reliability that Honda has claimed. Today I received the news of a gas pump recalled, and a prematurely faulty Rack and Pinion. This is just unbelievable. I'm writing in the hopes of some good news from Honda to replace my Rack and Pinion before an accident happens. I'm still paying for this vehicle. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

38 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11483361

The fuel pump failed on my car. I am very lucky and fortunate that I had my car parked in my driveway. I had driven my car a couple times the day it happened and my car started and then immediately shut off, after that, the car would turn over but wouldn't turn on and the battery and oil lights were flashing. I did not need an oil change, I still had 70% life. I called AAA to come because I thought it was my battery, the technician told me that my battery was at 100% and he'd never seen a Honda do this before. I had my car towed to Honda where they found it to be the fuel pump. My car has a little less than 65,000 miles on it and is only 3.5 years old. My car had been running well up until this point. When I asked more and more questions about this, they said that I was getting power to my pump but it wasn't coming on. I was told that it wasn't going to ground. Again, I am lucky that I was in my driveway but they had told me that once my car got to the dealership, they had turned it on and it started up, but then it died. Luckily I wasn't on the road anywhere. I know there is an active recall for Honda CR-V fuel pumps but it doesn't cover what happened to my car which is ridiculous. In all the years I've been driving, I have never had an issue with a fuel pump before, nor should I ever. This is not part of a recall and it should be.

When I entered my license plate info (State: MS Plate: [XXX] ) on NHTSA the recall notice I received from Honda is alerted on this site, however, when I entered VIN just a moment ago to file a complaint against the manufacturer dealership failure to assist me, the recall does not pull with this complaint. After months of trying to get the right person to help schedule my recall service, I finally received a call back from Kyle at the dealership, Patty Peck Honda, Ridgeland, MS who stated the fuel pumps are on a national back order may get some in next fall (was not sure). He also told me Honda would send out another letter once the parts are available (the original recall notice only mentioned limited supply for customers experiencing issues and did not reference ANYTHING about another notice!). I explained to Kyle that I am having issues expressed with this safety recall who said there is no wait list because it would be impossible to track. I would have to just keep checking back. The perception is Honda is making it impossible to get this resolved. I want this on record should I am involved in a deadly accident because Honda chooses cost savings over my life. I bought this car new from same dealership and also service it with them. [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle keeps gaining oil level from burned fuel even though the dealer installed the software update. I live in the south so the cold weather is not the issue. I am an industrial mechanic for 47 years and do my own maintenance so I know what the correct level is. The dealer says there is no fix but diluted fuel leads to damage and if severe, can cause engine failure and accident. The image posted is about 7K miles on oil change and the level is above the level marker pad. The second issue is the electronic display fails to function which allows access to vehicle information and control access. The dealer replaced the unit but this issue goes back to 2016 and so far, do not know if the replacement will solve the issue since it was replaced with a remanufactured part, not new. The dealer replaced the unit really not telling Honda the truth about the failure type, they said it was sound system issue when they knew for a fact there was none as I gave them a video and a letter describing the issue. One part is 1000 dollars and the other 1800 dollars, a stiff cost when warranty runs out. Their fix is an extended warranty at a couple of hundred a month. A win win for them and a loss to the consumer. The failure was sporatic and happened driving or parked. The failure date is just for the electronic part but oil issue has been from the beginning.

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11506067

All my car systems started to flash warning failure lights including brakes, steering, transmission and all the safety features. My car would start but I couldn't move it out of park and all the warning lights for every system on the car blinked failure. The wire harness that connects to the rearview mirror caused my entire car to shut down and become inoperable. I had to have it towed and it cost me $1552.53 in repairs. I did some research and other people are having the same issue. Critical systems like brakes shouldn’t be connected to things like mirrors. This is a critical safety concern. This issue should have a recall. The 2019 models having a bit of wire that hangs down is clearly a design / engineering flaw. I shouldn’t have to pay to repair this. I would like to know what Honda’s plan is to fix this issue. I have found reports of others having the same issue. My hanging my handicap plate card on the rear view mirror shouldn’t short out the entire car. Legally that is where we are suppose to hang it. People with disabilities have lower incomes and shouldn’t be penalized for Honda design errors. I would like my money refunded. I think Honda should warn customers of this flaw. I also think Honda needs to fix this on all existing and future models. I was lucky this didn't happen while I was driving on the highway to my destination.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

To Whom It May Concern, While driving and when at red light or just putting it in park my 2019 Honda CR-V AWD EX, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated on the dashboard, including the Check Engine Light, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), TPMS, and Collision Mitigation System. This has occurred multiple times and appears to be a well-documented issue among other Honda CR-V owners. To shop and they said it was the speed sensor got repaired and light so came back on. Took to the dealer and they diagnosed a faulty fuel injector system (Code P0172 – System Too Rich) and recommended a full injector replacement. This issue matches known cases addressed under Honda TSB 19-072, but is not currently covered under a full recall. The sudden illumination of all warning lights, combined with reduced power, is a serious safety concern as it may cause loss of control or delayed response in critical traffic situations. We have been quoted between $1,200 and $2,500 to repair this issue, which is a significant expense for a defect Honda is already aware of. I believe this is a manufacturing defect that should be fully covered by Honda, along with any related systems affected by this issue. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this widespread defect affecting 2017–2019 CR-V models and issue a recall. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Best regards,

2019 Honda CR-V, 74,429 miles. Steering wheel exhibits stickiness/notchiness when turning or making slight corrections and does not return to center on its own. Matches other CR-V owner reports of "sticky steering," the subject of an NHTSA investigation/recall on related model years and Honda/Acura platforms sharing the same EPS rack/gearbox. COMPONENT: Electric power steering (EPS) rack/steering column is suspected. Vehicle is in my possession and available for inspection upon request. RISK: Steering failing to self-center, plus intermittent stickiness during turns/corrections, risks needing sudden extra force to move the wheel, which could cause overcorrection and loss of control, especially at highway speed or during lane changes. DEALER CONFIRMATION: Honda Lisle, ILtest drove the vehicle on 7/22/26 and verbally confirmed notchiness. He later left a voicemail stating the only fix is full power steering rack replacement, verbally quoted at $5,500. Nothing was documented in writing on the repair order; no diagnostic findings or formal quote provided despite my request. OTHER INSPECTIONS: Vehicle was at Honda Lisle, IL on 7/22/26 for an unrelated grille-shutter code that set off all of the dash lights. No inspection by police, insurance, or other parties. WARNING LAMPS/MESSAGES: None. No dashboard warnings appeared. Symptom noticed during normal driving.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

1. My car like many other CRV's I have read about online in forums and other sites is experiencing the fuel injection failure of CRV's since 2017 model. The consumer reports article from 2018 stated the 2019 model was to include a "fix" for this problem but it has not. My car has been in the shop twice in 2 weeks for this issue and now I am facing a $1,788.00 repair at my cost to have all new fuel injectors replaced at 51,400 miles. First sign of problem showed every safety system on the car failing and warnings on every light on the dash. Only after the 2nd trip to the dealer was the fuel injection code thrown on the computer. This problem leads to stalls, cuts offs, sluggishness in traffic which all cause safety issues. 2. The automatic emergency braking system on my car has alerted on multiple occasions when there is nothing in front of me, no obstruction, or any reason to throw the brake warning on the screen. There is one particular place on my daily commute where this happens consistently even though the light is green and there is no traffic flow ahead, beside or oncoming. 3. The lane keep assist program misreads shadows from the electric or telephone lines projected onto the roadway and steers to maneuver around them. It also tends to have difficulty when the road is wet in spots from rain earlier in the day. I keep it off most of the time now because of how it reacts.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11317488

On February 29, 2020, I was pulling into a parking spot at a nearby park at a low rate of speed. I began to apply the brake to stop the car. As I applied the brake, the car rapidly accelerated with smoke coming out of the steering column. I continued to put my foot on the brake to stop the car, but it continued to accelerate. I steered the car away from a small lake but smashed into a pine tree. The airbags deployed and the seatbelt worked. I received trauma to the chest by the airbag. I was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then released the next day. The state trooper confirmed that the engine was revving when he restarted it. This Honda crv received a recall notice in July, 2019 concerning a problem with the wiring harness and steering column. The parts did not come until September, 2019 and I then brought the car in for the repair. The parts were replaced. Five months later the accident occurred with only 6,800 miles on the car. I went to speak with the manager at the Honda dealership about the incident and his attitude was polite but totally indifferent. He indicated that the dealership only sells cars, but he did not take responsibility that the dealership also did the repair on this recall. I left there with no satisfaction at all. The Honda crv 2019 is currently under investigation as to the cause of the acceleration problem. This was my first Honda and my last.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

57 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11663009

The fuel injectors are failing at 55 to 62k miles. The car experiences a loss of steering wheel functioning components related to the driver assist, and multiple warning lights appear on the dash for a period of a few days, then they suddenly disappear. There are slight hesitations in the automobile's acceleration, and this puts my family at risk during operation. The fuel pumps in the 2019 were replaced under recall but they failed to include the fuel rail and injectors and the pump we believe may have more pressure than the rail as and injectors were designed to handle and this shortens the life cycle of the part. The dealership diagnosed this problem and acknowledges that these same components have failed on other models and have settled lawsuits by extending the warranty periods to fix the injectors on certain less popular and lower sales volume models, but did not include the 2019 CRV and we think it is because that is a more popular model that would result in much more outgoing expense. his is putting many families at risk including my [XXX] daughter and her new born son. The dealership sells the injector and fuel rail parts that need to be fixed as a kit now due to previous and existing recalls in other Honda models but Honda consumer affairs has declined any warranty assistance to repair the 2019 CRV. I have owned my Honda since it had 11 miles on it, brand new in the parking lot I took it home. I’ve noticed in the past few months since September of 2022 ish the lane assist, and lane departure do not work now. Out of 100 times I drive the lane keep only works maybe 5/100 times. I called the dealership explaining how it’s a safety concern if it ever defected. And it’s not keeping me in the lane or even trying to read the lines on the road. The dealer wanted $199 just to look at it. I ended up watching a YouTube video, disconnecting and cleaning my battery, resetting all systems and computer. It fixed it for a day, then stopped working again. I haven’t taken it to the dealer because I can’t afford $199 hair for them to look at it. Also, my car is four years old and I’ve had fluid leaking out of the bottom of my car since I bought it. My mechanic and I both thought it was an oil leak. Then assumed it was factory oil from the new engine or the ac unit. Well at my last state inspection Honda wanted $1200 because my right front strut was leaking fluid. Which explains the wobbliness and uneven drive in the vehicle. I just had my tires replaced and the vehicle drives very unstable. I spent $250 on the part online and replaced it myself and it has been corrected but now I need a $130 alignment from Honda. Not been in an accident but I grew up in a mechanic family. I do all of my own maintenance with a family member on a lift.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11706000

Dealer inspected my 2019 Honda CR-V on 12/18/2025 and informed me that 3 of my 4 fuel injectors need to be replaced. When the problem occurred, my safety was at risk, and others could have been put at risk because the vehicle stalled and smoke came out, indicating something was burning. I visited the dealer for this problem because they replaced the defective/recalled fuel pump in January 2025. The smell of gas, stalling, and smoke indicated fuel problems associated with the original fuel pump recall. No warning lamps or messages or any other symptoms of the issue before the failure. This came out of nowhere. I had the vehicle serviced by the same dealer for an oil change during the Thanksgiving week, and the dealer did not report any issues to me. Shockingly, my vehicle is not on the recall list, since this is obviously a HONDA DEFECT and nothing I did. The car has low mileage, only 26,000 miles, and fuel injectors failing with this low mileage is unheard of. Shame on HONDA for not fixing this for free and sticking their customers with a high repair bill since the car is out of the original warranty period, and an extended warranty was not put in place by HONDA for this VIN. I contacted the HONDA corporate office to open a reimbursement case, but they said it could take months for a decision because there are so many consumer complaints. Please open an investigation into the failing fuel injectors to make HONDA responsible for their defective cars.

1) The following has occurred 5 separate times on 5 separate days: I was driving on a 2-lane road on 4 occasions going anywhere from 25mph to 35mph, and on a 5-lane freeway on 1 occasion going 65mph. My brakes suddenly engaged and my car came to a full stop. The "BRAKE" notification flashed on my dashboard continuously for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. I was unable to steer car for another 1-2 minutes after. Each time it felt like a slam and my body was physically moved in whiplash mode. All items in my car flew around. Each time this occurred there was not another vehicle, object or person in front of me nor beside me. However there were cars behind me. On 3 of those instances, the cars behind me swerved. On all 5 instances I was shaken to my core. I did not want to drive for a day or two after. I have been terrified ever since. I could have been killed each of those times. My son could have been killed or severely injured on 2 of those occasions he was in the passenger's seat. The other drivers who had to swerve violently to get around my car could have also been killed or severely injured. Each of those times the dashboard has lit up every single icon. I have been told I have to pay to have this problem checked out. I do not have the means for this. I purchased my vehicle brand new off the lot. This is unacceptable and honestly terrifying, both for the risk of death and injury, and financially. 2)Electric Parking Brake Problem- my car refuses to start after this event.

Hello I have been so upset with Honda. I’ve owned many Hondas and other cars in my past and never had any problems. I would tell anyone to buy a Honda until now. My daughter has been driving my car and she said it smelled bad and all the lights kept coming on. We took it to a mechanic and at that time they didn’t really see anything wrong with it. My daughter kept driving it and we found out about the recall and called to have that fixed and they said they don’t have the part and they don’t know when they will get it. Well that was upsetting because we felt that was an issue with the car and we didn’t understand why they couldn’t just order the part give us something else to drive until they got it in but no such luck. The last time I talked to Honda in Marion, Ohio they said I didn’t need the part but clearly that is wrong. Well the part I’m the most upset about is my daughter could have died driving down the road and all the lights came on in the vehicle and it would not drive while she’s out in the middle of nowhere scared half to death. We get the vehicle to Honda and they say it’s the fuel injectors. I’m like no one’s fuel injectors go out. Well I look it up and it’s a huge problem for Honda and they just don’t want to pay to have them replaced. It has cost me $2000 and had to get another car to drive and my Honda still isn’t driving very good and still no recall fixed. This is wrong! I am very disappointed in Honda and shocked. What can I do about this situation?

The TPMS, a federally mandated safety system, has a persistent and intermittent communication fault, causing the warning lamp to remain illuminated. This renders the critical safety system inoperable, preventing notification of dangerously low tire pressure and placing vehicle occupants at risk. The fault first appeared since April 2025 after the vehicle required a jump start. Independent Diagnosis: An ASE-certified independent service center confirmed the persistent TPMS communication code. Exhaustive diagnostics verified that the battery, charging, starting systems, and parasitic draw are all normal. The technician concluded the failure is systemic (likely software/module related) and requires Honda factory/dealer proprietary equipment to resolve. Honda’s Refusal & Barrier to Repair: The vehicle has not been inspected by a Honda dealership because Honda Corporate (Case #16008453) Case Manager Kevin created an unreasonable barrier to repair: Kevin closed the goodwill case and refused to cover the diagnostic fee necessary to identify the fault in this safety system. During the final call, Kevin denied escalation, contradicted corporate's prior confirmation of a supervisor request, and refused written documentation of the denial. Honda's refusal to cover the diagnostic fee for a documented failure in a mandated safety system prevents the required manufacturer-level testing and resolution. I am filing this complaint due to the safety risk and Honda's procedural failures.

This happened in my driveway, where we have lived for over 25 years. The wiring used for the main harness is made with a soy base product. Not only mice or rats, squirrels and other animals can smell this out and destroy the wiring. I was told that one man has had his main harness replaced 3 times. If a soy based product is being used, then the repairs that will be needed over and over from rodents should be covered under a warranty for wiring for the entire life of the car!! This harness goes to control all of the information that is in the cars computer system. I am an elderly disabled senior on a fixed income. I can not afford to buy this car and then turn around before it is even a year old to have to fork out $1400.00 for a new wiring harness, you knew this would happen, but did not care!!! Therefore your product is highly defective!!! I will never buy another Honda car and I will definitely promote the problem of the wiring info to inform others not to purchase these vehicles!!! The poor service that you have given customers concerning this is totally wrong!!!!! By doing this they are creating a completely different problem. Mice, rats and rodents carry all kinds of diseases and by enticing them with soy based wiring, you are causing another problem that could be much worse for your customers, if they were to be bitten by these rodents!!!! Why don't you people think about what would be worse, the environment or dead customers and the lawsuits from that!!!!

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11639916

I am filing a complaint regarding a premature failure of the LED turn signal on my 2019 Honda CR-V at only 81,000 miles. The turn signal is a critical safety component, and its failure presents a serious risk of accidents due to decreased visibility to other drivers. Unlike traditional bulbs that can be easily replaced, Honda’s LED turn signals require replacing the entire headlight assembly at a cost of $1,200.00, which is an unnecessary and expensive repair for a basic safety feature. The failure of an LED component at this mileage suggests a defective part that should be investigated. Given that turn signals are an essential part of vehicle safety, I believe Honda should issue a recall or provide an extended warranty for this defect. Safety Concerns: •The LED turn signal failed unexpectedly, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of an accident. •Unlike traditional bulbs, the LED failure requires an expensive full headlight replacement, making it inaccessible for many drivers to afford repairs. Requested Action: I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue and consider issuing a recall or safety bulletin to ensure Honda takes responsibility for fixing this problem. This is a serious safety concern, and I believe it is unfair for consumers to bear the high cost of replacing an entire headlight assembly for what should be a long-lasting LED component. I appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing this matter. Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

We were driving a crv which is less than 6 months old. All of a sudden all safety systems failed. The breaks system, colliosion avoidence, lane assist, acc. All failed. Fortunately we were at 20 MPH so we were able to safely stop the crv. We towed the crv to the dealership and they after 4 days were able to figure out that all the safety systems had failed as there was an electrical shortcurcuit which has blown the fuses and the control system. The cause of the electrical short was traced to exopsed wires in the rear view mirror assmebly which were damaged by an ornamnet we had hung. The reason I am complaining is I want to bring it to your attention of this manufacturing defect. 1.LOT of people hang ornamnets/ car freshner ETC and this defect can cause a very serious system failure with all safety systems failing when the crv is in motion. 2.THIS crv is less than 6 m old so it also indicates to the poor designand manufacture . 3. Crv is one of the most popular SUVS sold in USA so lot of people are at risk. 4. The design engineer knew the importance of these wires so have a protective rubber insulation but the insulation leaves a gap where the wires are exposed, and can be damaged. I have dramatic video showing this incident when we were drving and the exposed wires, the short cricuit damage and the ornament that they are blaming for this incident. I have the video that I could not load in this complain as the sytem would not allow it to be loaded ,but I would be pleased to share if needed.

On December 30, 2022 I was driving my vehicle between the speed of 40-45 MPH through an intersection on a overcast day mid afternoon around 11:30 AM there were no vehicles in front, behind, or either side of me. I was the only vehicle in the intersection. All of a sudden the car did an automatic hard brake. So hard I was lifted off my seat and my head almost hit the steering wheel. The mid of my back from the force back into to my seat has hurt me for a few days after the incident. Luckily there was no one behind me or I'm sure I would have been rear ended due to the hard sudden stop for no reason at all. A few days later after the holidays on January 4, 2023 I called my local Honda Service Department told them about the incident and asked if they needed to inspect my vehicle or anything they could do to fix the system. I was told there is nothing they can do at this time Honda Corporation as a whole has not done any kind of update to the programing or summited any kind of service requirement to correct. He advised for me to turn the function off every time I turn on my vehicle. At this time Honda or no one else has inspected the vehicle and I have continued to turn the function off so it has not reoccurred at this time and I sure hope to never experience it again. There were no warning lamps or messages the day of the incident. Since I have owed the vehicle on multiple occasions I have gotten a "Brake" message pop up on the dash when nothing is in front of me but never has the vehicle did an auto brake like it did on December 30th.

I own a 2019 Honda CR-V and have repeatedly experienced brake-system warning lights, starting problems, a hard brake pedal and unexpected braking/deceleration. I repeatedly reported these concerns to East Coast Honda, asked them to inspect the brakes, and showed photos/videos of warning lights, but many of my complaints were not documented on my repair orders. While driving, my vehicle unexpectedly braked/decelerated when there was no vehicle immediately in front of me, causing me to hit a curb. This was in July. On 9/16/26 at 52,113 miles, East Coast Honda finally documented that the electric parking brake warning was going on/off while driving along with the brake-system and battery lights. They found DTC U3003-16, Brake Booster Control Unit Power Circuit Low Voltage, and replaced the electric brake booster. During the same repair, the dealer performed a Honda CMBS software update. Their repair order states that American Honda identified an ADAS/CMBS software condition in which “unexpected vehicle deceleration may occur.” After the brake-booster repair, the vehicle was returned to me. It then would not start and the brake pedal became extremely hard, leaving my young son and me stranded. The dealer documented that the battery FAILED testing and replaced it under warranty again. This is my second battery in less than 2 years. I am concerned that the underlying brake/electrical safety defect has not been resolved. The vehicle is available for inspection. I have repair orders, photos, videos and voicemail evidence documenting these problems.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11759481

The vehicle developed an intermittent crank/no-start condition and later stalled after being driven home. An independent repair facility diagnosed the vehicle before it was taken to Honda and documented no fuel pressure at the fuel rail and diagnostic trouble code P0087 for low fuel pressure. The shop advised that Honda has a known fuel-pump issue and recommended that the vehicle be taken to a Honda dealer for recall-related repair. The vehicle was then towed to a Honda dealer. The dealer also determined that the fuel pump requires replacement. The dealer advised that the fuel pump had previously been replaced under Honda's 2021 fuel-pump recall. Honda has now denied another recall-related repair based on the dealer's claim that water is present in the fuel. I requested objective testing to document the alleged water contamination and its relationship to the pump failure. The dealer provided a photograph of cloudy fuel but did not provide a quantitative water-content test. I was told that the dealership's master technician determined that the sample contained water. The vehicle has approximately 53,700 miles. The replacement fuel pump has failed with symptoms consistent with loss of fuel pressure, including intermittent no-start and vehicle stalling. The independent shop's P0087/no-fuel-pressure diagnosis was made before the vehicle was taken to Honda. I am concerned that replacement fuel pumps installed during Honda's prior fuel-pump recall may be experiencing subsequent failures that can cause engine stalling or prevent vehicles from starting.

On 2/7/2020 I was operating my crv, made a left turn into driveway of tavern/restaurant, 1080 e. Philadelphia ave., gilbertsville, pa. 19525 and pulled into the first parking space about 10 feet from street. I slowed down to almost a stop approx. 2 feet from concrete parking block, my foot was on the brake and engine accelerated very high causing the vehicle to jump the parking block and striking the restaurant wall. Approx. 8 feet from parking block. My wife asked me what I was doing and I pointed to my right foot on the brake. No one was hurt and very minimal damage to wall. There was a police report to douglas twp. Pd. I spoke to piazza Honda dealership where vehicle was towed to and manager said that I most likely had my foot half on brake and half on gas pedal. I also gave same story to allstate insurance. I requested that hey check the black box in vehicle and both said they could not. My vehicle was repaired after $9.000.00 estimate was written. I was so afraid to drive the vehicle again and I traded it in to piazza Honda without leaving their business after it was repaired. I have been driving for 60 years and never had my foot half on brake a nd half on gas pedal. The brake and gas pedal are separated by at least 3 inches. If it was on both pedals, I am sure the brakes would have screeched. The vehicle was in the shop at piazza Honda 4 days prior to the accident for pa. Vehicle inspection and during the exam they told me that the left front strut was leaking and they installed a new one. The vehicle was only 8 months old with 11,000 miles on it..

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11664054

When I went to turn on my car, on May 15, 2025, all my warning lights started flashing. It stated multiple system failures and my car started sputtering a bit. I attempted to drive it that way because I really needed to get to work. I was able to get to work but was driving very slow because I had my son with me. When school let out I started my car and all the system failure lights started flashing again. The car started sputtering and shaking again. When I went to leave my school’s parking lot I pressed on the gas pedal and my car barely moved. This happened on a busy street causing the cars behind me to brake quickly since I had no power to get out of their way. I thought I was going to get rear ended with my son in the backseat. I was able to get back into my school’s parking lot and shut off the car. I had to have the car towed to my nearest Honda dealer where it sat overnight since it was towed there right before closing. They diagnosed the vehicle as having a failed fuel injector spill gas into my oil tank and cause a complete mess in my engine. Spark plugs got burnt out as well. Turns out this is a recurring issue with 2019 Honda CRVs. This failure cost me a lot of money that has caused me financial difficulties. This problem needs to be addressed and all 2019 CRVs should be included in this recall. I’m so scared to drive my car but can’t afford to get another car. I should also get reimbursed for the cost of having the fuel injectors replaced. I’m terrified that I’ll get into an accident next time and that my son could possibly get hurt or die. Please help.

LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

71 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11669430

I’m writing to report a recurring and increasingly dangerous issue with the CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) in my vehicle. The problem began shortly after I purchased the car. The system would intermittently flash the word “BRAKE” and apply the brakes without any apparent reason. Initially, this was more of an annoyance, but it has since escalated into a serious safety concern. Most recently, while driving through an intersection with no vehicles in front or behind me, the system suddenly applied the brakes with significant force. This caused everything in the front seat to be thrown to the floor and forced me into the steering wheel. The weather was clear—no rain or sun glare—and there were no visible obstructions. Had there been a vehicle behind me, I believe a rear-end collision would have been likely due to the abrupt deceleration. I have brought the car to the dealership where I purchased it multiple times, but they were unable to replicate the issue and eventually asked me to stop bringing the vehicle in. I then tried a different dealership, but they also refused to investigate further since they couldn’t duplicate the problem. Even after disabling the CMBS system about a year after purchase, the issue has persisted. I’ve since learned that this issue is under investigation, and I want to formally express that I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. I am requesting a resolution to this matter as soon as possible. Please let me know the next steps or if any additional information is needed. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE

76 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11691368

I am reporting a severe safety defect involving the engine and fuel injector system that began two months ago at ≈108k miles (now 109k miles). I have not yet taken the vehicle in for service due to the estimated high repair cost of $2,900. It is critical to note that the same underlying problem was subject to a safety recall for the 2017-2018 model years, but the defect was not fixed for my 2019 model year. This indicates a persistent manufacturing or design flaw that warrants an immediate investigation into my model year. The defect manifests regularly, causing a Cylinder 2 Misfire (P0302) and making the engine run very rough with a sudden and severe loss of power. This creates a direct rear-end crash risk due to the inability to maintain a safe operating speed. More dangerously, when the misfire occurs, the vehicle instantly disables critical driver assistance systems—Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Assist (LKAS)—without any advanced warning. This malfunction is an unreasonable safety risk: CRASH HAZARD: The unprompted power loss and concurrent disabling of safety features create an immediate, dangerous situation. FIRE HAZARD: The persistent misfire strongly suggests a failed or stuck-open fuel injector, which causes fuel dilution of the engine oil. This contamination can lead to engine failure or, critically, a fuel leak onto hot engine components that poses an extreme fire risk. I urge NHTSA to investigate why this defect persists and to mandate a comprehensive recall to protect the public from this ongoing, life-threatening safety risk. The failed component may be available for inspection upon request.

Without warning the Auto-Breaking system activated and immediately slammed on the breaks to slow the car losing about 20 mph before I was able to press on the gas to get it going again. I had to accelerate very quickly to avoid being hit from the rear as there was no reason for the car to brake and so no other vehicles on the road were slowing as all traffic was moving together through an intersection. There was a slight bump in the road as there is in intersections of crossing multi lane roads, but nothing that would require a normal slowdown. The weather was clear... no rain or fog or dust etc. This was unsafe for there was no reason for the car to brake. This made it all the more startling. Also it was dangerous because it put me at risk for a rear end impact since again there was nothing to require a breaking action no objects or slowing traffic ahead. There were no specific warnings or issues beforehand as for this system. The car has had its "radar / optical" based systems error message pop up saying the system was inoperative, but this was during rainy driving on somewhat dirty roads, so it was assumed this inop-mode was due to debris on the external sensors ... however as stated during the auto breaking incident it was a clear day with no weather. We have not reported this to the dealer yet but will mention it next service. No outside agencies have inspected the car at this time since we did not get into an accident however that was very possible if someone was not paying attention behind me.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while attempting to come to a stop at a traffic sign, the vehicle did not brake as she depressed the brake pedal. The contact stated that she thought that she rolled into the intersection at approximately 10 MPH and crashed into a vehicle that was crossing the intersection. The contact's front end crashed into the other vehicle's wheel well and the passenger door. The contact's front end was crushed and her air bag was deployed. The contact stated that the police arrived and the Emergency Services unit responded. The contact stated she was treated for lacerations on both arms starting at her wrists and stopping at her elbows and she had bruising on her abdomen. The contact was not transported to the hospital. The contact stated that both vehicles were undriveable and towed away from the accident. The contact stated that prior to the accident she had taken the vehicle to a dealer due to a "brake system problem" message on her instrument cluster. The contact stated that the dealer had examined the vehicle and that when she drove the vehicle off of the lot the "brake system problem" message was no longer showing on the instrument cluster. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the brake warning reoccurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and was advised by the dealer that there was no failure of the brake system. The vehicle was not repaired. A little over two weeks ago we took our 2019 Honda CRV to the dealership because all the indicator lights were lighting up on the dashboard. It started as I was sitting in the car with the car idling as I waited for my husband to come out of the store. We took a short video of what it was doing. The car was at the dealership the next day, but there were no indicator lights like the previous day. We shared the video with the service rep. When we picked it up we were told the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and it would cost in excess of $2,300. The car has less than 78,000 miles on it. The service rep said that if it was his car he would not drive it a distance (freeway) with this problem. That says to me that it is a safety issue. We had been concerned that it could be an electrical issue because the car was in a front-end, side-swipe collision in November 2023, and we had just gotten it back from repairs at the dealership two weeks before the indicator lights problem. The service rep assured us it was not an electrical problem. I looked up the problem on the internet. On [XXX] there were a number of other Honda CRV owners with the same problem at about the same mileage. Our safety is at risk with possible risk to friends and family because we need to drive on the freeway for daily activities. We took it to an independent automotive service location. They did not come to the same conclusion; the indicator lights were no longer on. This vehicle component has not been inspected by any others, other than already mentioned. Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11705539

My 2019 Honda CR-V, which has the 1.5 liter turbo engine, with 78,000 started up with the dashboard lit up like a xmas tree and reported approx. a dozen faults of all safety features EPB, LKAS, Emissions, etc. It was diagnosed by Lester Glenn Honda in Wall, NJ with oil dilution caused by the leaky fuel injectors. The mechanic noted TDC P0172 - System Too Rich & P0301- cylinder 1 misfire and all fuel injectors failed A/F test. This vehicle had its fuel pump replaced earlier this year pursuant to the Honda recall for this (wondering if related). The same underlying problem was subject to a safety recall for the 2017-2018 model years, but the defect was not included for my 2019 model year even though it's the same 1.5L Turbo motor and there are numerous complaints from customers on the same exact issue. I was quoted over $2300 since it was past the warranty period (8k miles past the extended 7/70k emissions warranty that would have covered this 100%). Not only is this premature failure of critical engine component making the engine run very rough with a sudden and severe loss of powers, it produces a safety hazard of a direct rear-end crash risk due to the inability to maintain a safe operating speed. This is a significant expense for a defect Honda is already aware of. I believe this is a manufacturing defect that should be fully covered by Honda, along with any related systems affected by this issue. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this widespread defect affecting 2017–2019 CR-V models and issue a recall. I have not had it repaired yet as I asked the dealer to contact Honda Corporate and ask for a goodwill/good faith warranty.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11418224

Fuel Pump module with out of specification impellers. My vehicle had this above specific recall, in which I took my vehicle into the local Honda dealership to get repaired, however, just 2 days after my vehicle had been “repaired” it broke down/stalled and became inoperable while I was driving into a store parking lot. Ironically, earlier that day I called Honda Service department to inform them that my fuel detector continued to say full even though the dash information read only 118 miles left in fuel, they instructed me to bring the vehicle back to their shop so that they could assess the problem. Shortly after the call I made to Honda Service my vehicle broke down and so I had to have my vehicle towed back to the service department, after Waiting for almost 3 hours they informed me that my vehicle had ran out of gas and insinuated that it was my fault, even though my vehicle’s fuel indicator read full tank and was clearly not! Honda service representative continued to inform me that it was a little mistake that the mechanic installed the recalled parts incorrectly and that my vehicle was now fixed correctly. The following day I filled my gas tank full and the fuel indicator in my vehicle NOW read that it was less than 1/2 tank full!!! Once AGAIN the Honda service station FAILED to install the RECALLED parts correctly and when I called them to report my issues they responded to me as if AGAIN it was my fault!!! I’m tired of the inconsistencies and lack of respect and professionalism from this department!!!! How many times does my vehicle have to break down and possibly cause an accident before the recalled issues with it are fixed correctly??? Something has to be done!!!

Problem: fuel getting into oil transfer case and contaminating/diluting the oil. We purchased a 2019 Honda CR-V EX-L on 10/31/19. I had done some research on this problem since it had been reported with the 2017-2018 models with the same 1.5 turbo engine. I brought it to the dealer's attention before we bought the car and we were told that Honda had "fixed the problem and that our vehicle had the fix". We were planning a trip to dallas, tx on 02/22/20 and planed to drive there from our home in duluth, mn. In preparing for the trip, I checked the engine oil and found that the oil level was 1/2" above the full mark on the dipstick, and the oil was dark and smelled strongly of gasoline. The car had 2407 miles on it at this time and obviously Honda had not fixed the problem. I took the car to the dealer on 02/21/20 where I purchased the car and had them check the oil. They observed the same issues that I am reporting. They stated that Honda knows about this problem but has not yet issued a recall. But they also stated that Honda was not providing any explanation or remedy other than to change the oil at the owner's expense. My dealership, to their credit, agreed to change the oil and filter at no charge to me. The service manager also explained why the issue is occurring and acknowledged that Honda May yet be forced to issue a recall. Honda has already offered an extended warranty for the 2017-18 models as the result of a class action suit, but nothing is being done for the 2019 or 2020 models that have the same engine and same problem. I am concerned about premature engine wear, damage, or potential of fire or explosion. Dealer repair #122992, krenzen Honda duluth, mn.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

67 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11636654

On [XXX] at [XXX], I was driving down the road - there were no vehicles in front of me. The sky was clear and the sun was bright. There are several trees whose limbs extend high above the roadway causing a shadow to be created beneath them. All of a sudden, the collision avoidance system activated on my car. The "BRAKE" light illuminated, the "chirping" sound associated with the "BRAKE" light activation occurred, and the brakes were instantly applied slowing me from 40 mph to about 15 mph. There was no impediment (vehicles, pedestrians, animals, etc.) in front of my car nor was there a car next to mine in an adjacent lane. The only logical conclusion I could come up with is this: the tree limbs overhead created a "shadow" on the roadway. This "shadow" was of enough contrast in brightness from the roadway, just prior to this incident, that the system concluded there was an obstruction of some type in front of my car. There was not another car behind me for about 100 feet or so, but had they been within the normal distance that driver's follow the car in front of them, I have no doubt the result would have been a rear-end collision. I have had several instances in the past where a contrast in reflected brightness of the roadway surface has activated the "BRAKE" light on my dashboard and the "chirping" sound associated with it. All but one have occurred along a particular stretch of [XXX] just west of [XXX] (specifically, it is on the ramp from southbound [XXX] to westbound [XXX] at about [XXX] ). The car is scheduled to be inspected on Monday, January 27, 2025 by my local Honda dealer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Overview: On July 4, 2020 my SUV rolled backwards on a slight incline when the start button was pressed to turn it off while in drive position causing a broken ankle, multiple abrasions and back pain. Details: I drove my SUV onto a driveway with a slight incline. The SUV did not roll forward because of the incline but after stepping out of the vehicle I realized that I had not turned it off. I turned back around while standing next to the SUV and pressed the button to turn it off not realizing the car was in drive. It immediately started rolling backwards (downhill), knocking me to the ground and dragging me since I was caught under the door. The driver's side wheel either went over my foot or dragged it (not sure which since at that point I was afraid for my life). It broke my ankle and tore away the skin in the ankle area. When it finally stopped, I was able to roll away and cry for help. This incident caused a broken ankle, multiple abrasions on my body and damage to the muscles in my back causing a very painful rib cage. These injuries required immediate and ongoing physician care and physical therapy. I truly believe that there should be a safety feature that does NOT allow us to turn the car off while the vehicle is in drive. It was something that was part of the older key start/stop vehicles. I believe that I read that some of the other manufacturers were dealing with this problem so don't know why Honda hasn't addressed it. Why is it not standard on all the new keyless push button vehicles? I know I'm not the only one who had this problem because my orthopedic doctor told me another of her patients sustained injuries with a roll back. Thank you for your time.

While driving the SUV and series of warning lights started going off all at the same time. I took the SUV to Honda dealership and they ran diagnostics and said that all SIX fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Said it was a common problem they we seeing in this make and model of SUV. The faulty fuel injectors was causing fuel pressure problems which sets off all the warning lights is how it was explained to me. Due to the widespread problem with the fuel injectors there was a backlog and wait time of 6 months to order new fuel injectors and replace them. I am just outside of the warranty for the SUV and I went through Honda for Goodwill Assistance. Honda said I was a good candidate to receive because of the low mileage. After many weeks they denied my Goodwill Assistance request and Honda stated they only do Recalls when NHTSA requires them to do a Recall. Please look into faulty fuel injectors because when all the warning lights come on then I loose some of the safety features that come with this SUV. I will be more than willing to provide any other information to prove there's a known and widespread problem with this SUV's fuel injectors. I respectfully request it's investigated and Honda is required to do a Recall. Thank you. There are 11 warning lights that come on, I have provided pictures of a few but listed here are all of them: Electric Parking Brake Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor Problem, Emissions System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem.

Multiple system issues with this car, I was told by Honda Sevice manager, “ most people don’t even know what all the features do and don’t know they aren’t workin” WOW!! Most recently (2022)there is a spontaneous window crack, very fine line. Cannot feel crack at all on outside or inside of glass. Not from impact. Crack goes up to black area of windshield about 3.5” long. You can google and see there was a class action lawsuit filed do to Framing defect in CRV that causes windshield to spontaneously crack. (It was settled/ended with the initial plant if settling, without Honda responsibility , so no recall or notice to the rest of us driving this dangerous car) There are several reports of the crack leading to whole windshield shattering. I’m being told to “wait for Honda corporate to decide if they will cover under warranty” Even though the warranty administrator at Lisle Honda looked at it and said it was not from an object. He had to take photos, after marking with pen/ marker to send to corporate for decision. Also, ADAS system malfunctioning, auto emergency braking for no reason, no trafic around, blind spot warning only works sometime, lane departure rarely works, ALL system display as “not functioning” the minute there is even slight fog, rain or snow. Even AWD system no functioning warning. And passenger airbag randomly shows as “airbag off” when an adult is sitting in passenger seat, requiring us to pull over, get out of car, turn car off, lock it, unlock it and get back in to restart (sometimes several times before off light goes away). I have reported all of these problems over the past several years to Honda Lisle to no avail. I’m waiting to see if warranty will cover windshield for defect.

Engine failure

POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE

85 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11748077

Vehicle is a 2019 Honda CR-V (1.5L Turbo) experiencing an active internal mechanical failure—suspected collapsing/sticking piston rings bypassing the combustion chamber, resulting in severe, unmeasured oil consumption. The dealership (Wesley Chapel Honda) filled the engine with new oil and refuses to perform an internal diagnostic teardown or provide a safe alternative vehicle. Instead, they are advising me to operate this vehicle for an additional 2,000 miles to complete a corporate "consumption test" to prove the defect for warranty authorization. Operating a vehicle with a known, rapid, and erratic oil depletion defect for thousands of miles presents a severe, immediate safety hazard to my family and others on the road. If the engine oil drops below critical operating levels unexpectedly between manual checks, the engine faces an immediate risk of catastrophic metal-on-metal friction, thermal expansion, and sudden engine seizure at highway speeds. This creates an extreme driving liability, including an instantaneous loss of all motive power, a sudden loss of vital power steering and power braking assist (making the vehicle incredibly heavy and difficult to control or maneuver safely to a shoulder), and a high risk of an engine bay fire due to intense friction and fluid ignition. This is a known issue that I presented to them in March. At that time the PCV valve was replaced along with new spark plugs. The problem continues to persist. This matter is actively documented with Honda Corporate under Case #16466779. A manufacturer protocol should not supersede passenger safety by forcing the prolonged operation of a defective vehicle. The dealership has advised that this is a known issue with the 2019 Honda CRV with piston rings failing. This needs to be made public and a recall for Honda to fix.

STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

62 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11610537

I was driving slowly yesterday in a parking lot area and the electrical system on my 2019 CRV Touring sent messages that the brakes, power steering, and engine were shutting down. I lost some power steering capabilities and the brakes were not working normally, but were partially working. I called the dealer who was nearby and they said if I could drive it, to try to get to the dealership. I was less than a mile away, so I was able to drive it very slowly without complete power steering. I was told that all of the electrical signals and shut-downs were due to a fuel injector defect and that I would need all fuel injectors replaced. I have had my Honda regularly serviced without missing any needed service appointments. Prior to the electrical system shut-down yesterday, my Honda was on a recall list for a new fuel pump, which was incorrectly installed, had to be reinstalled a second time, only to find out from Honda that they had made an error and should not have sent me a letter that my Honda was under a recall for a defective fuel pump. The electrical issues began to surface soon after the second fuel pump install (the reinstall due to incorrect install the first time). It also needs to be noted that my car cabin smelled of gas for several days after the fuel pump installs, and if I fill up my gas tank to full, the cabin of my car has a gas smell. My battery immediately died shortly after the second fuel pump install and it was only approximately 2 years old. The screen where my indicators are will frequently shut down for no reason from time to time, but then will come back on. Yesterday was the first time that all systems sent warnings that everything was going to shut down, and the steering and brake systems were compromised. My family and I have concerns regarding the safety of this vehicle at this time.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

59 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11586926

I experienced a concerning incident while driving recently, and I would like to bring attention to several issues with my vehicle. Firstly, while turning onto a main street at a speed of 35mph, my vehicle's automatic emergency braking system unexpectedly activated, despite there being no obstruction in front, beside, or behind me. This occurred at a green light as I approached the beginning of the intersection. Additionally, I have been facing multiple problems with my stereo, including glitches, turning off unexpectedly, and the brightness becoming engaged and freezing. I had previously reported these issues to the dealership within the first two years of purchasing my vehicle in 2019. However, the technicians only unplugged and replugged the stereo, assuring me it would be "good." I’m still currently dealing with the problem of the stereo glitches in 2024. Given these concerns, I am worried about the possibility of future issues arising and the potential for a collision due to my vehicle stopping itself randomly while driving. As a responsible driver with a family to consider, I kindly request immediate assistance in resolving these matters. To address the specific questions: 1. The component or system that failed or malfunctioned is the automatic emergency braking system. 2. Yes, the vehicle and its components are available for inspection upon request. 3. The safety of both myself and others was put at risk due to the sudden activation of the automatic emergency braking system. 4. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. 5. The vehicle and its components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. 6. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure of the automatic emergency braking system.

Vehicle has had phantom braking and accelerations, occurrences of "Christmas tree dashboard" with all system alerts going off - have been intermittent, far between and unsure how to go about presenting to dealership or auto repair due to this - however THIS OCCURRED TODAY AND CAUSED A COLLISION/ ACCIDENT! My looking into the issue online has shown that this is a problem that many others have also had and that NHTSA has opened an investigation into it with honda! AGAIN - MY VEHICLE IS NOW DAMAGED AND I AM INJURED DUE TO THIS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION/ERROR! Today while in slow moving traffic to turn onto interstate, car started having the phantom breaking and jolting forwards out of my control. All of the system failure alerts started going off (I've been able to clear in the past by turning off and turning on car multiple times in a row and on the 5-7th restart they go away) - while slowing moving forward across railroad tracks - the railroad lights and barriers then also started to decend (unexpectedly, as they had just been down shortly before - less than 2 minutes) - I attempted to accelerate forward to clear my vehicle from the tracks and my vehicle jolted forward - despite my own braking, the vehicle's forward collision mitigation also failed and the brakes did not/would not apply hard enough (or as hard as I was applying) in order to prevent collision with vehicle in front of me. I attempted to veer to the left at the last second to avoid any collision - which limited damage to truck in front of me to very minimal, but my car's front right is moderately damaged. ADDITIONALLY - driver airbag deployed despite speed being under 35mph and collision not at a level that warranted airbag deployment - thus ALSO INJURING ME AND CAUSING ADDITIONAL CAR DAMAGE. NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY DUE TO PERSON INJURIES AND VEHICLE IMPAIRMENT!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

84 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11764657

I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring issue with my 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5T AWD EX in which numerous warning/error lights appear simultaneously on the dashboard. I previously brought the vehicle to Brookdale Honda, an authorized Honda dealership in Minnesota, specifically because multiple dashboard warning lights had appeared. The dealership scanned the vehicle and documented diagnostic trouble code P0172 ("Fuel System Too Rich"). An air/fuel test was performed, and the dealership diagnosed failing fuel injectors. Based on Honda's diagnosis and recommendation, I authorized replacement of the fuel injectors and spark plugs. The fuel injector repair alone was approximately $1,790. During the same service visit, Honda also performed the applicable fuel-pump safety recall repair. I relied on the authorized Honda dealership's diagnosis and understood that the problem responsible for the warning lights had been corrected. Unfortunately, the same concerning condition has now returned, with numerous warning lights again appearing on the dashboard. My vehicle has fewer than 100,000 miles and has consistently been serviced through authorized Honda dealerships. I am concerned that this recurring condition may indicate an underlying defect rather than normal maintenance. Having numerous vehicle-system warnings appear simultaneously is also concerning from a safety perspective because a driver may not be able to determine which warnings represent an immediate safety problem. I am asking NHTSA to document this complaint and evaluate whether other 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5T owners have reported similar occurrences involving multiple dashboard warnings, P0172/fuel-system conditions, or fuel injector failures. I can provide the original Honda diagnosis and repair invoices, proof of repair, and photographs showing the recurring dashboard warnings.

A Honda 2019 CR-V EX 2WD was purchased in March of 2019 and came with OE Hankook Kinergy GT 235/60R18 H436 tires. The DOT# 5M3V1BH5018 (One tire) and 5M3V1BH5118 (Three tires). The vehicle was garage kept and most of the mileage driven was within the state of Tennessee. All four tires were rotated every 5,000 miles and balanced every 10,000 miles by the Honda dealership that sold the vehicle. A multi-point inspection was performed every 5,000 miles that included steering, braking, struts, and suspension components with no issues found. Tire pressure was monitored by both the owner and dealer during routine maintenance. Road noise began after the 12,000-mileage maintenance and could be seen as uneven tire treadwear. At 15,000 miles the dealership performed a four-wheel alignment to correct the problem, but the noise continued and became more pronounced at higher speeds. It became difficult to hold a conversation or listen to the radio without turning up the volume. By 23,000 miles it became apparent that the inside and outside tread on all four tires had become scalloped. The dealership confirmed the diagnosis and recommended new tires. They stated that continuing to drive with the cupped tire tread was not a safety issue. In contrary, most retail tire or automobile repair websites universally agree that driving with scalloped tires is dangerous. The decreased amount of tire tread to road contact causes reduced traction and increased braking distances, on wet driving surfaces and in emergency situations. The dealership service advisor also shared information that Hankook uses substandard material in the manufacturing of their OE tires leading to premature wear and possible failure. How does this tire justify a treadwear rating of 540 and mileage warranty of 70,000 miles when an entire set of four tires became useless and unsafe at 15,000 miles?

Brand new 2019 Honda CR-V EX-L: electrical PROBLEM,4/10/19 at 200 miles, battery completely dead after 2 days of not driving because computer program error. Honda is aware of problem, but does not instruct the dealer to fix the problem before selling its cars. Engine problem at 12 mile and up, bought the car in MARCH,2019, smelled gasoline in engine oil at dipstick, the level was over max mark by 1/4", was told that Honda already implemented the solution prior to selling 2019 Model to the public. Obviously, it did not solve the problem. Dealer was no help, refuse to admit that the oil was over maximum and mixed with gasoline. 5-9-19 at 1467 miles, paid to change oil and filter at dealer and started to monitor oil condition and level closely. Discovering that the oil level was still over maximum mark by 1/4" after returning home and engine was cool. 5/13/19 at 1600 miles, drained 1/4 qt. Of oil out to bring the level down to 1/8" below max. Mark. Discovered that the oil had already turned black after less than 200 miles , 4 days after oil change. Saved sample of the black oil for dealer. 5/14/19 at 1694 miles, showed sample of newly changed black oil to the dealer service dept. Was told that this dirty oil could be typical of this 1.5 turbo engine. Dealer admit this time from the oil sample that there is gasoline smell mixed in with engine oil. Paid for another oil and filter change myself. Dealer did not offer to do anything except telling me to contact Honda engineering. Will continue to monitor the oil status, and possibly ask for help from Honda USA. Honda is not doing the right thing for the customer since it has known this since 2017 Model year. Seriously, considering other brand of vehicle in the future. If the new oil and filter can get completely dirty in less than 200 miles, I would be required to change oil every week!

Strong gasoline fumes were noted in the vehicle interior at about 2,000 miles. The issue seemed to present itself when restarting after relatively short trips. Issue was reported to a local dealership at approximately 3,000 miles. I was told that this had been an issue with 2017/2018 models, that the issue had been resolved and did not apply to 2019 models. This was contrary to what I was experiencing, so I researched and determined that this does in fact appear to be an issue with the 2019 Model. When pulling the dipstick to check the oil, it smelled as if I had dipped the stick in a can of gasoline, not oil. I reported the issue to a second dealership, the dealership from which the vehicle was purchased. The individual checking the car in, agreed that upon starting the car for the test drive, the cabin smelled strongly of gasoline and that they would check it out. After the vehicle was checked-out by a mechanic, they said that it was ready to pick up and that nothing was found. I inquired as to gasoline smell noted upon check-in. They indicated that the comment made could not be considered as the person checking the vehicle in and going for a test drive was not a licensed mechanic. I was told that I needed to take the matter up with Honda America as there was nothing they could do. It was suggested that if the issue is associated with engine design, there was nothing they could do, that I would need to appeal to Honda America to have an engineer check my car out, that if they were to call, Honda would not send an engineer. In the meantime, I have a $30,000, purchased vehicle that I am not able to give back to Honda at the end of a short lease. I am also being exposed to gasoline fumes on a regular basis. I was knowingly sold a defective vehicle with an engine that will not last for the 10+ years that I planned to drive it in retirement.

2,790 miles. Gas fumes in the cabin of newly purchased 2019 Honda CR-V and on the outside of car near front of car. On 02/03/2020, I took the car to honda's service center where they performed a multi-point inspection(visual inspection). They ran the car in the garage for 45 minutes but were unable to duplicate the problem and the smell could not be noticed inside the cab, around the fuel tank or under the hood. But they did say, the oil had a fuel smell. I found this is a known oil dilution problem that has been found in 2018 and 2017 models and that it was to be corrected for 2019. Honda is aware this is still an issue but say they cannot duplicate the issue so they do nothing. I have respiratory problems and very sensitive to certain odors and fumes, and when I drive the car I have to have the moon roof open and the windows cracked. It causes discomfort in my chest and air passage. I called Honda customer service several times and opened a case. It was assigned to a case manager who said he would look into it and call me back in a couple of days, that was 2 months ago. He never called. I called them again 4/20/2020 and was told I can get a second opinion at another Honda service center, but if the results are the same there is nothing they can do. Honda knows this is an issue that has not been corrected for the 2019 and refuses to do anything. This car is a hazard for those with health issues, small children and for anyone breathing in these fumes. I am a senior citizen who bought this car based on good reviews because I wanted a good car that would possibility be the last car I had to purchase and it May be, but not for the reasons I hoped. When someone purchases a brand new car with a 5 year car note, the least they should be able to expect is the ability to drive the car without feeling they are putting their life in jeopardy. Honda is awful and shameful.

I have purchased Honda crv 2019 0N 02/18/2019. Initially the car performance was awesome. My first visit at first Texas Honda on 10/04/2019, to fix tyre puncher. When primary technician reminded me about security recalls then I asked to fix all the 3 recalls (1. 2019 CR-V fi-ecu self shutdown software product update, 2.2019 CR-V steering wheel controls & SRS sub-wire satefy recall, 3. 2019 CR-V incorrect owner's guide non-compliance recall) second visit at the same dealer on 10/17/2019 to explain all the issues I was facing after security recalls. The reported issues are high engine noise, sluggish acceleration, steering wheel tight and brake pedal feels very low while applying brake. Honda dealers did not accept the main issue while is high engine noise and sluggish acceleration. They simply deny saying no alerts showing on the dashboard. Raised support cases (given below) with American Honda and I feel I did not get right support because American Honda says we value our customers but they say our authorized dealer should check and confirm on the car issue. But dealers not agree to the issues, simply denying the issues. American Honda support case numbers: 1) 09952327 during Oct 2019. 2) 10214175 during Feb 2020. 3) 202888213 during December 2020 but the issues were not resolved. As a third party review, I approached Firestone, austin for inspection they did a test ride and confirmed with a report on the issues sluggish acceleration and steering hardness. But American Honda denied Firestone inspection report as they believe only authorized dealer, who are not acknowledging the issues. If any person who drive new Honda CR-V and try my car they agree in first attempt that engine noise is high and the car speed pick-up is very poor. I need help from NHTSA asap bcoz my new CR-V which is still in warranty but no-body accepts the car engine issue to fix it.

As I was attempting to quickly accelerate to merge onto the freeway my vehicle experienced extreme hesitation and engine misfires. All my dash warning lights were then illuminated. My vehicle nearly came to a stop. This nearly caused me to be rearended by vehicles on the freeway especially an 18-wheeler that was quickly approaching to my rear. I limped onto the side median where I stopped my vehicle turned it off and then restarted it. It restarted but all the warning lights were still illuminated. I managed to drive slowly to my dealership where my vehicle had just been around two weeks prior for a similar incident (only the one engine warning light was illuminated) where they replaced my fuel pump under recall. On my latest incident they did a diagnostic check, and it displayed DTC codes P0172, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0304, multiple cylinder misfires and fuel rail pressure too high. At their recommendation they replaced my fuel injector and spark plugs. My vehicle was 4 months and 8000 miles out of the extended Honda Care Warranty I had purchased when I bought my vehicle, so I had to pay for the repairs. Nearly 10 days later my vehicle was experiencing similar symptoms of hesitation and misfires upon rapid acceleration with all dash warning lights illuminated. I stopped and restarted my car drove it to an auto parts store where they ran a computer diagnostic check, and it showed random misfires and also this time it said i needed my PCM reprogrammed. I managed to reset the codes and now looking to sell my vehicle. I felt compelled to notify Honda corporate customer relations via email, not just for a reimbursement of payment but also for safety notification; they checked my VIN and was told since there was not a current campaign on that VIN and it was out of warranty so it's up to me to repair. I believe it is a safety issue affecting my model like it has affected others.

My wife was driving the Honda CRV (61k miles, 2019) through a parking lot when suddenly all kinds of buzzers and warning lights came on. There was no warning anything was wrong before this. All of the Driver Assist features read failures, none of the gauges worked, all of the dash was lit up like a Christmas Tree. Sufficed to say this freaked my wife out. She was in a parking lot, she's very anxious and this nearly caused an accident in the lot. There was no visible loss of power, but if we were on the freeway? Terrible accident! We've heard of other people having the same issue from CRV forums. Anyway, we took it to two different places to get the codes checked, and the codes were p0172 (fuel system too rich) and u0401-68 (ecm failure). We then went to a mechanics shop who diagnosed the problem but said they couldn't touch anything until the ECM was fixed by a dealer. We went to Honda West in Las Vegas, NV (W Sahara location), but they said there was no issue with the ECM. In fact, they said that "it's normal for everything to shut off like that when one system goes wrong or bad." Well, the problem is my wife suffers from occasional anxiety and panic attacks, but can drive normally. We've had a check engine light come on before and we've handled it. But the whole dash lighting up for 1 or 2 issues? A potential loss of power, skid control, driver assist features, all out the window because of two codes? By the way, the dealer said nothing was wrong with the ECM. Then why did a code populate for it? This needs to be fixed. The fact that I'm out $200 for a diagnostic fee, to be told that the issue is the fuel injectors (lines up with p0172 code) is fine, but why is everything lighting up like that? It's dangerous, and it's also a KNOWN issue. They need to recall their fuel injectors on their CRVs. I only found out AFTER I BOUGHT ONE. The ECM also CLEARLY needs to be fixed. Now, again, they're making money from misery.

While driving on a winding, two-lane rural mountain highway, I came up behind a slower vehicle. When a designated passing lane opened up, I pulled out to overtake them. The driver ahead safely slowed way down to let me pass, so I applied normal, moderate acceleration to complete the maneuver.Mid-way through the pass, the vehicle suddenly suffered a catastrophic loss of motive power and entered "Limp Mode." Simultaneously, the entire dashboard lit up frantically with warning alerts indicating that virtually every Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) had failed. The vehicle lost nearly all forward momentum and would barely move. Because of the immediate power loss, I spent a grueling half-mile struggling to find a safe place to pull off the roadway. I was forced to come to a stop on a highly dangerous, blind mountain corner. On a highway where traffic routinely travels at 55 mph or faster, being stranded at a dead stop around a blind curve placed me in imminent danger of a severe, high-speed rear-end collision. Safety Concern & Product Defect:While the vehicle's programming forces "Limp Mode" to protect the mechanical components of the engine, the real-world execution of this feature creates an extreme, life-threatening hazard. Cutting power entirely during routine highway maneuvers—such as passing or merging onto a 65 mph freeway—renders the driver helpless. Rather than preventing damage, this defect actively creates a high-probability scenario for a fatal high-speed accident. Honda's safety systems should not prioritize engine preservation over human life. After thoroughly researching this specific failure pattern, the evidence strongly indicates that the root cause is premature fuel injector failure—an issue that is heavily documented as a common defect in this specific engine layout. This component should not be failing at this stage in the vehicle's lifespan. My husband is a certified mechanic and meticulously maintains all of our personal vehicles!

SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11644949

My car has about 35,000 miles on it but while I was driving it, I could hear a loud, deep pumping noise coming from the lower front driver's side area. I noticed that when I accelerated from driving at a low speed (25mph) on a small residential road and then accelerated to a higher mph on a faster highway, the pumping noise would start and would make this constant loud deep pumping noise near the lower front side of my driver's seat. I could still hear the pumping noise even as I pressed the brake pedal to slow down the speed of my car. The deep loud pumping noise would temporarily stop only when I had pressed the brake pedal to a complete stop e.g. red traffic light or yielding to oncoming traffic. However, the deep pumping noise would continue to start all over again once I continued to drive from my momentary stop position on the road/highway. My family member (retired RN) tested my car and said she noticed the same noise too but she also noticed that the car would make that constant pumping noise even AFTER parking the car, turning the car off, and removing the car key! She noticed that would happen after driving the car for more than 10 miles or so. She told me to have the car checked at a certified Honda dealer, because I could be in or cause a big accident if the car fails on the road. So, I took my car to TripleJ Honda-Guam and the staff said the pumping noise is due to a faulty "brake booster" and would charge me $2,000 to repair/replace it. Because the car mileage is only 35,000, I checked NHTSA website and there are brake booster recalls for other Honda models but not this 2019 Honda CRV, yet. I also checked other websites and found that there are many other 2018-2019 Honda CRV owners with the very same brake booster problem. I honestly believe that there are tens of thousands (or more) unknowing Honda CRV owners who have this very same brake booster problem, paid Honda to replace it, but they haven't reported their brake booster problems to NHTSA.

I have a 2019 Honda CRV, purchased new on Guam from Triple J Honda (Tamuning) on Jan 2020. As of May 2023, my car has about 32,000 miles but my car began having trouble starting [engine made sputtering(?) noises when turning the key] that morning. Then, while driving in traffic, the car had STALLED/STOPPED WORKING in the middle of rush hour (around 9AM) traffic!!! THANK the LORD, though, the traffic light had just turned red so all the other drivers were slowing down around me! I tried over & over again, but the car wouldn't start! So, the police had to stop/redirect traffic and also helped me push my car to a safe area. Almost all the warning signals on my dashboard were lit on, so I wasn't sure what caused the problem. The engine warning light was also on, so I had a towing company take my car home to replace with a new Honda battery. After placing a new Honda car battery (bought at Triple J Tamuning), it still had difficulty starting, made sputtering noises, and was drivable for only 2-3 feet, then it died again! I had to tow my car again but to Triple J Honda (Tamuning) to diagnose the problem. The service advisor told me that the reason why my car won't start is because "You have a major problem with your fuel pump." I researched online and found that 2018-2019 Honda CRV had safety recalls for the fuel pumps. So, I searched the nhtsa & owners.honda.com websites whether there's a safety recall for my car; but there's no recall showing based on my VIN. Is it true that more cars are being still being added or owners notified later about the safety recalls? This 2019 Honda CRV is the only car available to make deliveries/pick up some supplies for my (very small: me & my mom) family business. So, we really do need this car working reliably asap. If Triple J Honda says that I have to pay for the fuel pump replacement because there's no safety recall for my car's VIN, what can/should I do? How can I know or be notified whether my car will get a safety recall? Thank

The driver side visor will not remain in the full upright position. When driving the vehicle I have hit my head several times due to the visor falling to a 45 degree position instead of remaining in the flat against the headliner. This requires constant adjustment while driving by moving to the side window, or moving back to the front windshield to avoid constant nuisance while driving. We have hit our head on the visor MANY times looking for traffic at a stop sign or when merging. After taking the vehicle for services, this issue has been brought up to several service personnel at the dealer and stated the owner is responsible for this common defect. There are numerous issues listed on the complaint list that have been reported. Just yesterday, I spotted a CRV of simmilar year model in costco parking lot, and stopped to look in the vehicle to notice that they had a loose driver side visor hanging down about 3-4 inches as well. This shows that this is very common. The replacment part is in excess of $150 to replace, and there are numorous comments about replacing this part due to same reason only to encounter the same result after a few months of use. Since this has become such a nuisance for the driver and a safety issue of constantly adjusting to ensure a clear field of view driving, we have opted to just remove the visor knowing that the replacement will likely be a waste of time and money to only encounter the same issues again at a later date. It is disappointing to see that Honda is not taken serious concern for the customers encountering this issue that is such a common safety distraction and nuisance to the drivers of these year model CRV's. I read reports that have been entered from a 2018-2020 for more than a dozen vehicles just on here that have reported the issue. This visor is a vehicle safety feature that the customer should not have to remove in efforts to minimize safety risks that are more often a nuisance than assisting in safety and visibility.

My 2019 honda crv has been in and out of shops since April 1st. On april 1st lights popped on on my dashboard the lights were break system lights. All wheel drive system lights, and then the lane keep assist adaptive cruise ect were on and not operational. I looked up what could cause that to happen and it stated rear differential fluid could pop lights on. I took it to the dealership and stated it felt like it was running funny but the lights all went off before I got there but if they could do the rear diff fluid and run diagnostic just to be safe that'd be great. Diagnostic found nothing wrong g with my vehicle. A few days later the same lights came on and then multiple other lights came on, my boyfriend stated it could be electrical maybe spark plugs so we bought them and replaced them. Restarted the car and drove it they went off but then came back on next morning. Next solution was maybe my battery has gone bad. Bought a new battery in hopes it'd work and no luck. We pull out our code reader and it pulls a code for cam shaft position sensors so we purchase those and replace them and still no luck. I finally take it to a repair shop since there's nothing else we can do on our own to fix the issue and the repair shop has a hard time trying to diagnose the issue. They ran codes and tests trying to figure this out they checked the mechanical side of things since the dealership only checked electrical side of things and found that my car had debris in the oil. They began researching and finding the hondas in my year and make and model with the 1.5 turbo engines have a class action lawsuit due to oil dilution and after more digging they found that I did indeed suffer from this and would need an engine replacement due to the damage that has been done and that would be around 10k. on [XXX] I was driving home with my wife & [XXX] baby, in what I would describe as standard wintery mix of weather - rain, but not yet cold enough to be snow. My 2019 CRV EX-L alerts me of the following message: "Some Driver Assist Systems Cannot Operate: Radar Obstructed" As I've had this car for years, I've seen this message pop before, but as I had no plans of using any Driver Assist features, i didn't think anything of it. At roughly [XXX], while driving on the highway, my Honda became 100% unresponsive to me as the driver. It locked the ability to steer the wheel or apply the brakes in any capacity. The vehicle completely usurped driving power & under its own power, began veering off the road at highway speeds. I could only look straight ahead and hope that when we crashed into the upcoming highway divider, my family wouldn't die. To confirm, i tried pumping brakes, holding down the brakes, touching - absolutely nothing worked - they were completely locked. The steering wheel locked as well, we were heading for certain death. This was going what felt for a lifetime, but after probably 5 - 10 seconds, i was able to gain steering control - and turned away from the light post we were destined to hit & was able to get us veered back on the highway. Conditions were wintery, and we swerved alongside another car lanes away. By the grace of God, my car and the other car, only slightly touched side view mirrors. We both pulled over and swapped information, but little actual damage was caused. With all of this said I want to make sure one thing is clear. Honda almost killed my entire family. They put us in danger for absolutely no reason. My Honda CRV overrode every possible human driver action - and had us on a direct path with death. If not for the grace of God - I wouldn't be able to write this message to you. We opened a case with Honda Case #[XXX] where they made me pay for a diagnostics test - however didnt properly inspect the issue imo INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUA

[XXX] Saturday at [XXX] while driving at about 50 MPH onto [XXX] toward [XXX] , My Honda CRV 2019 suddenly stalled, all alarms setup, beeping on the dashboard, while I was puzzling what was happening, the car behind us almost slammed into our car, narrowly missed by sudden turned to my left hand side. We hit the Emergency Light immediately, then pull over to the side, and immediately called my favorite Honda Mall of Georgia Dealership (HMGD), Buford, GA the lady was very nice after she heard the incident, gave us the name and mentioned to contact Service Manager directly first thing on Monday, also scheduled us to checkup on 7/24/2024 . Me and my wife called the office again on Monday 7/22/2024 11:15 AM, to reiterate the dangerous incident which occurred two days ago. However, Service Manager was away from the office, after a few minutes, the Assistant Manager responded immediately, recommended us to bring in to have a thorough Checkup. Also we stated that we have been calling the office regarding the FUEL INJECTION PUMP RECALL (since 12/28/2023 regarding Engine Fuel Injection Pump Replacement), for more than 5 times according to our record. The responses were no parts available until August 3X, then delayed till September 2X, recently said till this fall 2024. Having said that, if the incident happened again, while our whole family, my daughter and two grandchildren all on our favorite HONDA SUV, if a semi-truck was behind us on [XXX] that day, a crash accident would have been fatal the whole family and Daughter and two Grandkids。After HMGD completed checkup from 7/24 to 7/25, stated the Technician and HQTR still could not identify any RECALL related issue. Then stated my CRV is ready to pick up. (Repair-Order- [XXX]. Dated 07/25/2024) I was startled by the statement. Our HONDA (HMGD), is willing to put our Lives and Safety at RISK on the highway again, as long as you bring the car back for the next incident, (if YOU survive the CRASH). REALLY ! On Wednesday, [XXX], the sunroof glass of my 2019 Honda Cr-V Ex spontaneously exploded while driving on the highway. There was a startling loud sound that rendered me shocked while driving! It caused me to take my eyes off the road to look around my vehicle and in the rear-view mirror to see what had happened. Nothing hit the vehicle! Luckily, there were no other vehicles nor pedestrians nearby. I maintained staying in my lane, but I was completely distracted by the sound, this could have been dangerous! Also luckily, the interior sunroof shade was closed or I'd have been showered in broken glass. The service manager at the dealer I called, Greensboro Honda, said "I'm not going to lie, I have heard of this happening before". There are many reports of this happening online and, according to news station reports, an NHTSA investigation that was closed in 2021 citing that it “has not identified sufficient evidence of a safety-related defect in the subject sunroof.” On the same day the incident occurred, my vehicle was inspected by the Service employees of Honda of Greensboro, NC. They refused to fix the problem b/c the 'Area Manager", against the recommendation of the 'Service Manager', stated that "something must have hit the vehicle". I repeatedly insisted that nothing hit the vehicle. I have filed a claim with Nationwide Insurance. Greensboro of Honda did take photos and they taped the hole in the sunroof at no charge which was kind yet suspicious since I bought this 'Certified Pre-owned" vehicle at Leith Honda of Aberdeen. The Greensboro Honda dealership is not owned by Leith. Twice, once by phone message and once via email, I requested the email, denying the issue be fixed by Honda, between the 'Service Manager' and the 'Area Manager' at Greensboro Honda be forwarded to me, to no avail. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Note: the shape of the fractured glass hole look almost identical to others. INFORMATI
