Instrument cluster panel - while driving, my cluster panel occasionally glitches before returning to normal. Ultimately, when I was on the highway, it all went black. Nothing is visible anymore. I can’t tell if I need gas, if my tires are low, if an oil change is due, or if there are any warnings I should be aware of. Essentially, all the information I require is missing. This occurred during the 3rd year I owned the car, but it only happened a handful of times. The belt-driven starter generator failed after just 3 years of having the brand new car. Fortunately, it was included in the powertrain warranty, so it was repaired. However, I recall experiencing the same problem, and everything in my car was malfunctioning, including the radio. At that moment, I believed that was the source of the issue because it hadn't happened for quite some time. After I resolved that issue, about a year later, my cluster began to malfunction again with the glitching. It would glitch for a short period and then return to normal. However, this time it’s even worse, and now it’s completely black.

Approximately 4to6 months after I bought my jeep following issues: electric bolt comes on. At a red light engine shuts off. Have to stop in middle of traffic to restart and pra it restarts. Sometimes this takes 3 or 4 tries. Sometimes many times when I try to start my car will not start. Many times I am unable to shift the jeep and takes 40 min to get the throttle into gear. Wheel locks. Windshield wipers come on at random times. This is a severe safety hazard. I did buy an extended warranty and they tell me it is not covered. I’ve followed up for any recalls and they tell me no recalls. I had some minor recall done a few months ago and now my jeep is worse than before. The stress of this is immense. Very very unsafe and I do not have the money to fix it. I love my jeep. I got one because my daughter knew how much I wanted a jeep so I purchased one a month after she died. This is a real safety concern and I have contacted dealership multiple times. Also informed the BBB. Please help me. Thank you. [XXX] . My 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 2.0 liter turbo engine has had two failed “Rear Axle Assemblies or differentials” within 3 years of each other. The first time was in July 2022, and my service repair order says rear Diff replacement. Now this time, my dealer is saying we need the whole rear axle assembly which is on national back order. No current ETA for delivery, with no additional info other than none are even in production at this time. Since my vehicle is under warranty for another 4,000 miles or so, I would like to use Stellantis warranty for my repair. However, They are no help and are saying we cannot order a different OE part, or a used part. The vehicle is unsafe to drive as I can feel my loss of control especially on wet roads in Florida. After searching the internet I have found this is a common problem with the sport, and Sahara versions from 2018-2025. Now that we can’t even get replacement parts, it creates a whole other set of problems. I would like to mention everything is factory on my Jeep and I have never been off roading. Not even once. So 2 failed rear axles is just unacceptable.

The dash glitches and lights up all of the warning lights, speed and fuel goes up and down then the engine idles high despite not shifting/touching anything. Then it it completely locked up and cannot shift out of park. If it sits for a while occasionally it will start and only have check engine light on and allow you to shift to drive however while driving I have had the entire dash light up and speedometer/rpms going up and down causing it to run higher. It has been back to the dealer twice now for same issue that was supposedly fixed. It says service shifter, my abs are not working and electronic stability control needs service amongst other things. It is very scary when this has happened while driving on the highway with my children in the car and the fact I never know if I will be able to make it to or from work/picking up kids or if I will be stuck in drive/have engine shut off while driving. This has happened more than once in my 3 weeks of purchasing this vehicle and I am scared for our safety. I have had the codes read prior to going to the dealership and it says multiple things are malfuntioning

1300 miles on a 2019 new Jeep Wrangler 2DR, 100% stock. At 60MPH on the freeway, in speed control, suddenly the vehicle lost all control of steering and shook violently, nearly causing a major freeway collision. I've now learned this is the well known 'death wobble'. I have also learned the vehicle has the damper supposedly preventing this already installed. The dealer has no explanation, replaced the 'damper' and basically said there is nothing more they can do. I'm afraid to drive the car again. If I had been killed, there would be no way to have identified the cause as the 'death wobble'. I simply do not believe no one has been killed by this obvious defect. The general manager of the dealer denies he has ever heard of the death wobble, an obvious lie. The service managers at two dealers clearly acknowledged the problem but said there is nothing they can do. I can't believe the Wrangler hasn't been recalled and removed from service. The lemon law provides no recourse unless it happens multiple times and I'm lucky enough to survive. This is crazy! I hope someone NHTSA will reach out to me.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon jl - no modifications, all stock. Steering issues. I noticed at about 250 miles, the Jeep will drift in to other lanes at any given time for no apparent reason. Trying to correct, causes a wobble. It is very exhausting and frightening just trying to keep the Jeep in a single lane going forward at highway speeds while drifting and correcting. I took the Jeep to my local dealer and they told me there was a new recall that came out just days ago. The recall was for a new steering damper. I drove it for about a day and all seemed fine. Now, the Jeep is back to drifting again, I think not as bad but I do not have much to compare as I am now at 750 miles and owned 2 weeks. I am very concerned that someone could get very hurt when the Jeep drifts in to other lanes or off the side of the road. I did not buy my Jeep so that I could use it off road or to modify. I bought it because I liked exactly the way it was. I am not interested in selling, trading, or using the "lemon law". I am strongly urging the NHTSA please open an investigation into the steering issues before people start getting seriously hurt.

While driving at speeds above 20 MPH on the highway the car goes into a death wobble where it feels like the car is going to fall apart. The car shakes and the steering ability becomes unstable. The steering wheel shakes with the car and we need to get to the shoulder and stop. It happens randomly and at variable speeds. The dealer tries to appease us with fixes that do nothing to correct the problem. They claim that it is not dangerous and does not do anything to the effectiveness of the car. The car was purchased new a few months ago and it has been brought to the dealer three times for this issue without any fix (most recently December 24, 2019) where they changed out a steering damper based upon a recall. This did not correct the problem.following that we were driving the car on vacation through the desert and the car went into a death wobble 10 times while on the highway. Upon returning home we contacted the dealer and informed them of these multiple episodes. The vehicle is going back in on January 6, 2020. At this point the car is unsafe to drive. We were not informed prior to our purchase about this dangerous issue with the Wrangler.

I purchased this vehicle used and out of warranty in February of this year 2023. I've had continuous issues with the steering. I have contacted my local dealerships explaining my issues. I've contacted FCA explaining my issues. By both I'm told I need to bring my vehicle in for a diagnostic test that will cost me $250 plus dollars and then ANY REPAIR will cost out of pocket. The vehicle wonders while driving at speeds any speed, but more so at highway speeds, I have almost 2" of slop in my steering wheel, a shimmy in the front and have experienced DEATH WOBBLE numerous times. My family will not ride in my wrangler and I personally feel it is UNSAFE as well. I have already personally replaced ball joints and an aftermarket steering stabilizer in hopes of correcting these issues. I learned that FCA is aware of an issue with the aluminum steering gear of which my wrangler still has. I also learned of a TSB for the steering stabilizer, track bar and software update for the power steering itself. As previously stated ALL MY SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY AS THESE TSB'S DESCRIBE, and I had no knowledge of them prior to purchasing and experiencing these issues.

The instrument panel cluster that shows the speed, odometer, and fuel levels has been sporadically 'going out' while driving. On Friday 7/18, it went out completely and did not come back on. This affects safety of driving in that I have no idea how fast I'm driving or fuel levels. I have to rely on iphone capabilities for speed, which is not as accurate. The problem has been inspected by a mechanic and he indicated that the Instrument Panel Cluster would need to be replaced at a cost of close to $2,000. He indicated that there was a recall on 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler models involving a safety issue with the IPC and that it may experience a short circuit and fail, potentially causing the display to go blank and hindering the driver's ability to see critical information like speed and warning lights. Recall# 24V652000 indicated this failure could increase the risk of a crash. Per the mechanic recall info was sent October 2024 yet I did not receive anything. Per the site my VIN# is not included in this recall. I believe this is the EXACT issue that other vehicles were called and this particular vehicle should be included in this IPC recall.

The steering on this vehicle has always seem to have a lack of input, just wonders about the lane. Driving it on a windy day is bordered on dangerous as the wind will push you around. The Jeep has a pull to the right and while you counter steer that and get a gust also pushing you left, you now are in the other lane. I was on I25 on a windy day fighting the steering and passed a 18 wheeler the dead air while next to the truck allows the Jeep to relax somewhat then the gust from the front of the truck pushed me into the next lane before I could correct nearly making contact with the car in that lane. If that car had not made an evasive maneuver we would have sure collided. As it turns out Jeep is aware of this issue and has a tsb (08-074-20 REV. B) to replace a poorly designed steering gear box but will only do so if the vehicle is under the 3/36 warranty. This Jeep has 47k miles, under no circumstances should a steering gear box be worn out at that mileage period. This should be a recall! Make these manufacturers spend some of the billions in profits and fix the junk they sell. Steering and brakes should be first on the list of things that get recalled.

2019 Jeep Wrangler JLU experienced intermittent CAN-C communication failure. Vehicle has repeatedly experienced simultaneous loss of multiple electronic systems. On September 7th 2026, while driving, vehicle unexpectedly lost electric power steering, windshield wipers activated without command, ABS/TPMS/ESC warning lights illuminated, and vehicle subsequently would not shift into gear after stopping at a traffic light. Hazard lights would not activate. After shutting vehicle off, vehicle would not enter ACC or restart normally. Opening driver’s door unexpectedly caused vehicle to enter ACC. Manipulating the CAN-bus wiring/STAR connector behind the glove box has historically temporarily restored normal operation. Vehicle has previously required repair to this wiring/connector, and the failure has recurred. This has been occurring for at least 3 years and since 60,000 miles. This presents a significant safety hazard because steering assistance, shifting/propulsion, and signaling were simultaneously affected while driving. It is a known Chrysler issue (FCA STAR Case S2108000146) and should be recalled as there is a CLEAR and present danger with this ongoing issue.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon entering the highway at 60 MPH, his vehicle hit a few bumps in the road and the vehicle experienced the "death wobble". The contact stated that he had experienced the failure while between two semi-trucks as he firmly held onto the steering wheel. The contact also stated that he lost control of the vehicle and that his vision had been obstructed due to the violent shaking moving his glasses off his face. As the vehicle began to slow down, the shaking stopped, and the contact pulled over. The contact then carefully drove the vehicle home without incident. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who initially denied that they had never heard of such a failure. The contact left the vehicle in the dealer's possession for a week; the dealer then notified the contact of a service bulletin which was related to the failure. A software update was performed on the vehicle and returned to the contact. Despite the repair, the contact stopped driving the vehicle because of fear that the failure might occur again. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Sunday 22 Sept 2019 Jeep Wrangler jl driving back home from work at about 40-60 MPH the steering was all over the road. I almost hit 3 vehicles just trying to get home. Something was seriously wrong with the steering . Bought the Jeep in Apr drove fantastic like a car for the last 4 months. Last week I got a u-connect notice safety recall to avoid driving it and take to a dealership soonest for a stabilizer issue. Called a dealership right away, they got me in next day Saturday at 0630AM. 0830 the workmanship or adjustments were done. Only drove it twice since then yesterday - Sunday on the way home from work, it totally scared the heck out of me. Called Jeep national customer service number 877..... They said try to take to the same dealership to have it looked at again. I took a video on how it was acting on the road I looked underneath and didn't see anything obvious wrong anywhere. Bolts were tight no leaking or wet spots anywhere nothing loose to the touch this is my 3RD Jeep in my life and something was serious about this issue. Last 35 years of driving , this one drove scared the heck out of me. Something is not right jt

On 2 separate occasions, at highway speeds, my 2019 Jeep Wrangler jl steering locked and made it very difficult/almost impossible to turn in which I cam e very close to crashing into the side wall 2X. Took it to the dealer on 7/24/19 and was told that there "were bolts loose" and was causing the issue and should be fine b/c thy test drove the vehicle for ~40 miles. The steering locked again on 8/7/19. I went to the dealership again for the fix and they cannot replicate "the code" and do not have a fix for it. I have contacted Jeep customer service and I'm not getting the attention needed for such a critical issue. I am afraid to drive my car and looking for a replacement vehicle from Jeep but not receiving timely cooperation. Lastly, on 8/4/19, at highway speeds, my Wrangler performed the dreaded "death wobble." The dealer is changing the vehicle damper but upon my research, a damper only "masks" the issue and there s a bigger issue at play. For reference, my vehicle was bought brand new in March 2019 and only has ~1,400 miles on it and has never been off-roaded. Lastly, all modifications to the vehicle are under warranty and were installed by the dealership (eg. 33" tires)

The 2019 Jeep Wrangler unlimited Rubicon has loose steering which causes the vehicle to wander left or right while driving straight in both city and interstate scenarios. It requires constant correction and if you hit a big gust of wind, it's very hard to control. I've had it for just over 1 week and has approximately 800 miles. I've lowered the PSI in all tires to the documented 37 PSI and had the steering wheel dampener recall completed, but the problem still exists. I've taken it into a Jeep authorized service center and they adjusted the toe, but said that the vehicle is operating as designed even with approximately 2" of play in the steering to both left and right after all adjustments. We test drove other 2019 wranglers on the lot which experienced the same problem. They continue to claim this is a Jeep thing, but others have reported no problems with their steering and have videos online showing they are not constantly correcting. I asked them to replace the track bar, drag links, and ensure all steering components are tight and on spec, but they will not replace any parts under warranty because they said it will not fix the issue. They will replace the parts if I pay out of pocket.

I took it to my dealer and they worked on it and said nothing was wrong. A week later it happened again. This time the vehicle wouldnt turn back on for about 30 minutes. Going threw a round a bout I will randomly lose all control and almost crash. I have had at least 4 or 5 close calls do to no power steering and lose of traction control. No dealer or mechanic can figure it out. It is throwing 37 codes. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON THESE JEEP FORUMS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE SAME YEAR. NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. SEVERAL HAVE CRASHED. MY WIFE HAS ALMOST DIED WHEN SHE LOST TRACTION CONTROL IN A BLIZZARD. It has been months and now my vehicle is up to 42000 miles and its sitting there because now I'm to scared to drive it. It gets stuck in park and randomly powers down. This is a serious safety hazard and someone is going to get killed from a crash if this isn't addressed. All codes are related to ABS and CAN BUS but it has only fixed about 5% of the vehicles when they replace those parts. COME INSPECT IT YOURSELF I AM AVAILABLE ANY TIME!!!

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? After diagnostics of multiple 'no communication' codes, it was determined that the CAN buss star connector was faulty. The part has been replaced, but is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The malfunction caused repeated warning lights and loss of steering at unpredictable times. Luckily I was always able to put on my hazard lights and get out of the path of traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, a variety of warning lamps and messages over a period of 10-12 days, which would disappear after restarting the vehicle (restarting was necessary to get the steering working again). Messages such as traction control, auto on/off, and check engine light were a few different ones. They came and went so quickly it was hard to catch them all while I was focused on getting safely off the road.

Tl* the contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. While driving, the contact heard a loud popping noise and the entire console screen failed. The contact stopped and restarted the vehicle, but the entire console screen still failed to function. The contact was still able to drive the vehicle. The contact called cherry hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM (1708 w, NJ-70, cherry hill, nj 08002, (856) 471-1058) and they asked when she could bring in the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that after the vehicle being parked for two days at an airport lot, the vehicle was later started and the entire console screen failed and the power steering seized. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a telephone pole. The contact's son was medically checked out with an ice pack to the face but no ambulance services were needed. A police report was filed. The front of the vehicle was damaged and it was towed with the rear wheels being locked making it difficult to tow to a tow yard. The manufacturer filed a case and would have an investigator inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer stated it would take two to four weeks until they have some findings on the issue and had not offered a loaner vehicle. The failure mileage was 848.

I shift into park and then auto park engages and I am effectively stuck. The safety of myself and passenger(s) is immediately effected. I was at a stop sign in the middle of rush hour traffic in a densely populated metro and was stuck in park for over 3 minutes. The safety of others on the road is effected as I am a danger being stuck in the middle of the road. If they hit me, it could injure them and their passengers. The dealer has repeatedly stated they can’t get it to “act up”. They have had the vehicle

Steering issues caused by weak steering components and poor suspension geometry. Death wobble and jumpy, loose, wandering steering from factory. Brought into dealer May for updated OEM trackbar with stiffer bushing update and updated steering stabilizer. This has tightened steering somewhat and reduced the amplitude of death wobble but has not eliminated it. Jeep still wanders and jumps onto adjacent lanes when hitting expansion joint on freeway. Dealer service manager refuses to consider alternative fixes that have been shown to have positive results for others. Wind noise from a pillar and freedom top. Dealer noted but failed to fix inadequate defroster channeling results in the defroster only clearing the center of windshield. Driver cannot see out of wi shield. Design flaw since this is on all 2018 and 2019 jl. Dealer refuses to fix fragile windshield glass. Service manager ager refuses to consider this an issue eve. Though 1000S have lost their windshield and have broken numerous ones in short about ts of time too short lower control armcountry ol arms in not enough caster and lack of a caster adjustment results in poor steering. All above items occur when Jeep is in motion and represents ts a hazard on the road. *Dt

Note: The following is the second incident in less than a year whereby my vehicle has lost all power, and subsequently needed to be towed to the dealership. Apparently, the batteries (primary and aux/secondary) are/were being drained for some reason. The first time this occurred, there was some sort of wiring defect, possibly shorting out a circuit. We were able to drive it to the dealership, prior to it dying. The second time this occurred (yesterday 6/16/22), my wife was driving home via Virginia by herself. All sorts of error messages appeared on the dashboard, and the car started to jerk abruptly. Battery indicator said it was low (~9v). Car died within minutes, and she had to pull over to be safe. Once it died, she couldn’t even be drift it over for a safer position, relative to the highway traffic. If an accurate diagnosis is not made, I feel this is a dangerous situation, especially with all the Highway driving we do. Given the electrical history with Jeeps, what recourse do I have ? Are there lemon laws that may apply to these electrical issue? See towing receipt below. We currently have a loaner from the dealership, however they are saying it’s the alternator. Generally, alternators last anywhere between 50-100k miles, not 22k .

STEERING

Day 1 after purchase the steering was so loose you had to constantly make adjustment to stay in your lane. I called the dealership and took it back they check it and said everything was fine it typical of a Jeep. Said to drive it and I would get used to it. I put several miles on it and was not comfortable driving. I purchased a teraflex 2.2 adjustable steering stabilizer hoping that would help and continued to drive it. I took it back they flashed the computer because I asked them to after I researched the problem. It still wasn't fixed. They took it back and performed the recall by replacing the steering box and reinstalling the old stock stabilizer previously replace by aftermarket one. It seemed better at first. I continued to drive hoping it would work itself out, but it didn't. I took it to another dealership and they repaired a boot that was torn from the recall and said the computer still needed to be flashed to finish the recall which they did. The Jeep still pulls to the right and has loose /dead spot in the steering. It happens while in motion and on any street. I plan on giving this Jeep to my son when he turns 16 and buying a new one. However as of today I do not feel comfortable with the steering to let a new driver behind the wheel. Please help.

LANE DEPARTURE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11766319

My 2019 Jeep Wrangler has experienced a failure of the Blind Spot Monitoring system. The vehicle repeatedly displays a “Blind Spot Alert Temporarily Unavailable” warning, causing the blind spot detection system to become unavailable while driving. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Jeep dealership. Diagnostic trouble codes were present, and I was advised that Stellantis has issued a service bulletin addressing this condition and that the diagnostic codes indicate replacement of the mirror glass/components associated with the blind spot monitoring system. This concerns me because the system is an important safety feature designed to alert the driver to vehicles located in areas that may not be visible in the mirrors. When the system fails, those warnings are unavailable. Despite this being a documented issue addressed by a manufacturer service bulletin, I was informed that there is currently no recall and that the necessary mirror replacement is not covered under my extended warranty. I am filing this complaint because I believe a recurring failure involving a vehicle safety system should be documented and investigated to determine whether other Jeep Wrangler owners are experiencing the same problem and whether further manufacturer action is warranted.

Getting the well know Jeep "Death Wobble". Was advised by Carvana when I bought this vehicle that it had an open recall for this exact issue (Manufacturer Recall Number CDJR XF1) due to the Steering Damper having air in it. However, when I contacted a Jeep dealership to get it fixed, I was told there is no recall for the Steering Damper for my specific vehicle. When I look it up on NHTSA, there isn't a recall listed on here either. Whenever I hit transitions in the pavement while driving above 50mph, I get the death wobble on the front of the vehicle. I have not yet had it repaired, but I plan to do so regardless of whether a recall exists. This is clearly an affected vehicle that was wrongly excluded from the manufacturer's recall for the Steering Damper on vehicles manufactured prior to August 11, 2020. My vehicle was manufactured in April 2019, so it is definitely in the correct date range, and with the exact same issue of others that were recalled. The only reason I have not crashed is because I've taken EVOC classes (for driving firetrucks and ambulances), and I am able to control it when it does happen. There were approximately 65k miles on the vehicle when I bought it, and there is about 72k miles now. It has been happening since I bought it in December 2025 from Carvana.

SEAT BELTS

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11508952

I lease my 2019 Jeep, and in November 2021, my then 8 year old son was trapped in the driver's side back passenger seat, where it would not retract and would only get tighter. The screws would not budge to remove the seatbelt, I had 3 people I had to ask for help as the seatbelt was getting tighter and tighter and cutting off circulation to my son. We finally had to cut him out. I reported this right away to the dealer. My service advisor kept putting me off stating the seatbelt was backordered. We made due with the remaining seatbelts. 7 months later the middle seatbelt quit retracting. I was left with just one working seatbelt in the back seat, with 2 young boys, now 10 and 12, and I cannot drive anyone else in my car as I do not have working seatbelts. I have gone into my dealer, sent several emails to my Jeep dealer and spoke in person and in email to the manager and have been ignored. I sent in my issue to Jeep corporation/Mopar, and they keep giving me the run around and told me i have to go through the dealer. I have pictures and emails of this all and have been ignored. My lease is up next month, and I have not been able to enjoy my jeep with others for safety reasons. I don't understand. Why i have been ignored and Jeep does not care. There is an issue with the seatbelts in this car.

Structure / body failure

STRUCTURE

85 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11753493

The vehicle is experiencing severe, premature galvanic corrosion on the doors, hinges, and hood due to a documented factory defect where aluminum panels press directly against steel hinges without proper isolation (acknowledged by the manufacturer in TSB 31-001-24).This is a critical structural and safety hazard covered under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 206, which regulates door locks and door retention components. The advanced sub-surface corrosion is causing the metal surrounding the door hinges to degrade and oxidize, causing the paint to blister, bubble, and flake off. Over time, this structural failure poses an imminent safety risk of causing the door hinges to seize or bind, potentially jamming the doors shut during an emergency and trapping occupants inside the vehicle. Furthermore, the degradation of these hinge components creates a severe risk of the doors failing and opening unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion at highway speeds. The manufacturer is refusing to address this structural defect because the vehicle passed its 5-year calendar warranty window, ignoring the fact that this sub-surface chemical reaction takes years to visibly manifest. This defect requires a formal safety investigation and an expanded recall to protect drivers from door-retention failures.

Clutch failed for the 3rd time, there is another open recall for the clutch that states the pressure plate can fracture and damage the clutch. in 4 years the vehicle has had 3 clutches replaced, 2 of the 3 i was made to pay for and Jeep is refusing to reimburse. While driving 70 on a highway, there was a burning smell that started, when pulling over, there was a loud bang and the vehicle began to shake. Pulled over, had son in car, we both got out because of the smell of smoke and fear the vehicle was on fire. Previous recalls updated software to give a warning when the clutch was hot. There where NO warning lights that went off as stated for a hot clutch. The clutch pressure plate had fractured and pieces were projected out of the clutch and blew a hole in the transmission. The damage required a new clutch assembly and a new transmission. Jeep refused to pay for the damaged clutch, it was $3600, but replaced the transmission. There have now been 7 recalls in 4 years. There have been 3 new clutches in the vehicle, each time the Jeep was in for repairs for 3 to 4 weeks at a time. Sometimes parts took over a week to be delivered. Dealerships never have courtesy vehicles and i have had to make due myself each time, over a month once. It has cost me over $7000 and there is no fix in site, estimated for early to mid 2024.

With only 266 miles on the Wrangler, the automatic 8 speed transmission completely failed while trying to accelerate onto the freeway. It became very jerky and appeard to be down shifting while accelerating. I stopped on the shoulder, turned off the engine. Turned on the engine and attempted to manually shift the transmission. I got up to 3RD gear and then it started down shifting again. I could not drive the vehicle on the freeway and I was lucky to not be blocking a lane which could have resulted in a rear end colission. The check engine light was on. The d on the center counsel was blinking. I pulled over and stopped the engine. I started the engine again and tried to back up a few feet and it acted like it was in neutral and would not move. The r on the counsel was also blinking. I was affraid to continue driving the Wrangler and had it towed to the dealer that sold me the car less than 7 days earlier. It has been at the dealership for 6 days and as far as I know they have contacted the factory for advise on how to repair the transmission. They are waiting for tools so they can begin the repair. This is a 4 door Rubicon with the 2.0 liter etroque turbo engine. I purchased the Jeep new on Jan 30TH, 2020.THE manufacturing date on the door jam indicates this Jeep was manufactured in July 2019, I think on the 26TH.

The front axle steering stabilizer shock/damper failed at approximately 36 months after delivery, to the point where the the front end shakes violently when the vehicle goes over a bump at highway speeds and the front tires hit the bump at diffferent times, i.e., diagonal overpass joint. This is a known issue, commonly referred to as "death wobble." Stellantis has settled a class action lawsuit related to this phenomon, Reynolds, et. al. vs FCA US LLC, and extended the vehicle warranty for this issue to 8 years and 90,000 miles. That's all well and good. Here's the problem: There are no parts available. Jeep has sourced a FOX SHOX steering stabilizer but it has been on continual backorder since October 2022. My vehicle was diagnosed in November 2022. I can't get a part at least until the end of summer 2023. An extended warranty doesn't help if I can't get the unsafe condition fixed. There is another FOX SHOX product available that will solve this problem but it is a more expensive part. There are also other suppliers that can provide an acceptable part. Jeep has shown zero urgency to take care of their customers, and FOX SHOX is obviously overwhelmed with the demand. Stellantis and Jeep need to act with more urgency to find sufficient parts to fix the affected vehicles, even if it means sourcing a higher-priced part.

Back in July 2022, I went to turn on my Wrangler and the light show began. Took it to the dealership where they identified over 50 error codes. Some of the main ones I was able to see in the instrument cluster were "Service Shifter", "Service Antilock Break System", "Service 4WD", "Traction control Failure" and "Emergency Break" light on when E-Break was not engaged. Four (4) Months later and over 10 back and forth visits to the dealership, the problem still persists after being told "we test drove it 50+ miles and we see no problem". They have since replaced three (3) Body Control Modules. Why am I writing this report? Because in the situation when those warning lamps turn on and I am actively driving the vehicle, I've experienced the following concerns: 1.) Stopped at a stop light and the engine shut off. Then it takes a few frantic tries to turn the vehicle back on - this happened twice. 2.) Drove on the highway when the gears stopped shifting causing the engine to rev incredibly fast - this happened once. 3.) Increased resistance from steering wheel while steering while on highway speeds. 4.) Gear shifter locks - happens often, but typically only when I initially turn on the vehicle; Doesn't allow to move the shifter out of Park. As you'll see by my answers on the form, my vehicle has low miles and is kept in prestine condition.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Check Engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to O'Reily's, where a portable diagnostic machine was used; however, no fault codes were retrieved. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was an old warning light. In addition, the contact was informed that the vehicle could be driven. The contact stated that while driving to the residence, the check engine warning light turned off. The failure reoccurred, and the engine seized. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled near the shoulder of the road. The contact became aware of smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that a good Samaritan stopped and assisted the contact. The contact and a good Samaritan became aware of fire coming from the engine compartment near the battery. The good Samaritan attempted to extinguish the fire with a sweatshirt, then used a jug of water from inside the vehicle. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to the local tow yard. The Carvana dealer where the vehicle was purchased was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was then towed to a repair shop assigned by Carvana. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

As I am driving at a normal speed all of a sudden my 2019 Jeep Wrangler will begin to shudder back and forth fiercely. The first time it happened on January 4, I thought I had a loose air flat tire. I stopped in the breakdown lane, got out and checked but there was nothing wrong. When I began driving again, the car drove fine. The next morning on January 5, the car did the same thing in almost the same are where ri 95 cuts off to RI295. The steering wheel started shaking for a good 50-100 feet before it stopped. I was alone both times. The 3RD time, I was taking my 29 year old daughter to the doctors in wakefield, ri and traveling on RT 1. All of a sudden the vehicle started shaking, it really scared my daughter who insisted we drive right to the dealership after her appointment. After her appointment and on the way to the dealership, it happened one more time. I walked into the dealership at paul bailey's in north kingstown. This is where I always go for my service on all my jeeps. They were pleasant was always and I told them in had what I thought was the death rattle and he corrected me and said did I mean the death wobble? I made an appointment to go back January 18 to have them look at my car. I am concerned that this May be happening with all cars and May cause an accident. I only have 18000 miles on the car, it is still under warranty.

While driving with the sun visor down it became detached from the hinge and swung and hit my face causing distracted driving. It continues to hang due to the defect and is obstructing vision of the windshield for safe driving. The vehicle is available for inspection if requested. This is a safety hazard and an obvious defect with the part mounting the visor to the vehicle. I called the dealership and they confirmed this was a known issue with newer Jeep Wranglers and that the entire visor could be replaced for several hundred dollars at my expense. The visor itself is not the issue, it is how it is secured to the vehicle that is the problem. It appears as though it has detached itself from whatever was securing it safely to the vehicle. There were no warning signs or any issue with the visor prior to it releasing itself and swinging freely causing distraction to driving and possibly bodily injury. When spoken to, the dealership confirmed this is a known issue with the way the newer visors are designed in new Jeep Wranglers. Upon conducting online research, this issue is common and others are experiencing it as well. In a potential accident or general driving this visor could detach itself and be propelled possibly injuring the driver and passengers. This safety related defect needs to be recalled and fixed immediately and not at the owners expense.

I had trouble with the cluster display periodically going out. It would come back on after restarting the car. This happened 2 or 3 times. Then, it went out and never came on. This started with 40,000 miles on it. When it to the dealer they tried an “ipc” reset on it with no change. They tried a “hard” reset with no luck. They disconnected and reconnected both batteries, again with no luck. They told me my only recourse is to buy a new display (p/n 68377781-4F) for $1,169.71. I didn’t think that made sense for a 3.5 year old Jeep. I started looking on the internet and found this is a very common issue. Some report it periodically fails while many report the same as me, hard failure. This screen is an integral part of the vehicle info and safety. I cannot tell you how much fuel I have. I cannot easily glance down and quickly see my speed. I still have a speedo on my model, but it isn’t as easy to read as the large digital display. I have to really divert my gaze to obtain the speed. I recently ran out of gas on the highway with no fuel gauge. Why would a screen wear out? Why should a digital screen wearing out be acceptable? This is not right. This generation of Jeeps has been plagued with issues. From the death wobble, steering dampeners, poor frame welds to the digital display. Any help to force dealers to address this issue is appreciated.

My brand new 2019 2-DR. Jeep Wrangler jl has a serious steering problem. At highway speeds, especially above 50MPH, the steering wheel needs constant small adjustments to keep the vehicle in its lane. Both I and my wife find it difficult to keep the vehicle on track in normal highway driving conditions. We feel that this is a serious safety concern. The slightest distraction of the driver's attention from the constant need for small steering corrections could and will eventually result in the vehicle wandering out of its lane into an adjacent lane, causing a high-speed accident. Unfortunately, a cursory investigation of such an accident would probably and unjustifiably result in a finding of driver inattentiveness, completely overlooking the underlying mechanical cause. Our dealership service representative states that he is unaware of this problem with these vehicles, even though the internet is flooded with complaints and anecdotal accounts of this problem with the 2018 and 2019 Wrangler jl's. The manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler, has yet to provide definitive acknowledgement or remedy for this problem. Given the seriousness of a steering malfunction in the 2018 and 2019 Wrangler jl vehicles, and the probability of its causing or having caused serious accidents, we sincerely hope the NHTSA will engage Fiat Chrysler to address this problem at the earliest possible time. *Tr

My 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport jl when driving on the road any road the car for no reason starts wobbling and shaking and vibrating for about 20 seconds or more and then it drives normally ,but this happens very often and the steering wheel feels weird and has an empty space in it and when driving on the highway the car wonders to the left and right changing lanes and I have to keep both hands on the steering wheel to control the car and keep it straight. This is a brand new car . There was a recall on the steering damper and that recall was done on my Jeep but the problem of wobbling and shaking and vibrating is still there . My Jeep is very dangerous to drive and it's still brand new and under manufacturer warranty and I took it to a Jeep dealership in hoover-alabama hendrick Jeep and they said that they couldn't find any problem but I don't trust them and I don't think they did a thorough diagnosis. My Jeep has a defect in the steering wheel and it wobbles and shakes and vibrates for no reason very often and the steering has an empty space in it that makes the car go sideways . The wobbling and shaking and vibrating is very dangerous and happens for no reason or after I go through a rough road or a pothole or on a normal smooth road .all this is still happening even after doing the recall of steering damper . STEERING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11242304

We ordered a brand new 2019 Wrangler Sahara to our liking. I was so excited to drive it home from our dealership about an hour away from our home! That was until I actually started driving it . There is a big dead spot in the steering as you and Jeep already have been made aware! It's all over blogs and your site. It was a very scary experience on the highway, actually white knuckled it all the way home. I probably should have simply drove it back to the dealership and left it there. I had the service manager come and pick it up at my house as I was not willing to drive it back to them for fear of crashing or causing an extremely horrific accident! They did come and get the Jeep and drove it back , however they hit bumper to bumper traffic and did not have the chance to experience the unsafe steering issue. They did change the front steering damper and claimed that no shimmy present after their test drive. Not possible! I am not blaming fitzpatrick's of ansonia for this I am holding Jeep solely responsible for this dangerous issue. I guess my question to you is when will Jeep be held responsible to remove these vehicles from the streets. I feel that a $53K Jeep shouldn't be scary to drive. I have no other choice to to use this vehicle as I don't have a spare as I'm sure that most don't! I filled out a survey that Jeep sent me asking for a phone call for this matter and have yet to hear back from them. Please help!

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH uphill, the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle lost power steering functionality. Additionally, the stereo and the windshield wipers engaged independently. A message indicating a shifter column failure was displayed, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to exit the highway and pulled into a driveway, where she parked the vehicle. The contact stated that the engine continued running after pressing the Start/Stop button several times to turn off the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the engine revved up significantly while the accelerator pedal was not depressed. The contact pressed the Start/Stop button again, and the vehicle turned off. The contact then restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed; however, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon using an OBD reader, codes indicating lost communication with ABS control module, torque request signal from PCM denied, CAN communication messages missing, invalid data from ECM/PCM, Lost communication with SCM/CANC and implausible missing transmission message, were read. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

This Jeep has been to the dealer 4 times previously for a similar issue. This incident, while driving down the highway at approximately 45 MPH all the instruments started going crazy (previously happened many times). Shortly thereafter the steering wheel locked up. The power steering was still working, but the wheel would only turn around 1 inch in either direction. Braking was normal. Maneuvered the Jeep off the road and had towed to ron carter Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership in league city, tx. The dealership has had this vehicle 4 times in the past for this issue. In the past the steering has not been affected, but the vehicle won't start or the parking brake will be set and you can't move or other weird different stuff happens. The steering issue in this past incident is serious. When the tow truck driver inquired what happened he told me he has towed probably 20 other newer Jeep wranglers with similar issues. The dealership told me last time we brought the vehicle in and it was still acting up that there were 15 faults stored. The issue usually clears itself up by the time we get it to the dealer. The dealer claims they have talked with Chrysler and can't figure out whats wrong and have just been throwing darts replacing various things. If the tow truck driver is right on how many vehicles hes towed with this problem there is a serious electrical / computer issue going on with these vehicles that is going to cause accidents.

In June 2025, I had the clutch recall (NHTSA 23V-116) performed on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler at AutoNation Jeep Southwest in Littleton Colorado. Prior to this recall repair, the vehicle had no transmission faults or warning lights. Following the recall work, I began experiencing a recurring 'Service Transmission' warning. On a return visit, the dealership discovered they had incorrectly reinstalled the shifter cables during the recall repair, making it difficult to shift into first gear. The cables were redone. The 'Service Transmission' warning continued after the cable rework. The dealership performed a software flash on a subsequent visit, which did not resolve the issue. The vehicle later experienced a 'Service Transmission' warning accompanied by a clutch overheat alert and limp mode activation. The dealership has since diagnosed fault codes P082C and P082F (gear lever position sensor circuit high) and is recommending a transmission range sensor replacement at my expense. The dealership has acknowledged they cannot confirm the root cause of these codes. When I contacted Jeep Customer Care, they called the dealership and accepted their assessment that the issue is unrelated to the recall repair. I believe the ongoing fault codes are a direct result of the defective recall remedy, specifically the incorrect shifter cable installation and subsequent cable disturbance during rework. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the recall remedy as performed at this dealership is defective.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

5 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11281916

Jeep acceleration from a stop is inconsistent. This concern is worse when accelerating from a slow speed. Upon initially applying light pressure to the gas pedal, there is no response, but then the vehicle lurches ahead aggressively and in an unexpected manner. This is counter-intuitive as the vehicle is equipped with etorque, which is electronically applied torque to assist acceleration. This system is to instantly apply torque to the drivetrain via secondary battery power - but if that was working as expected, one would seemingly not experience the initial delay prior to the sudden acceleration. The delayed and then lurching acceleration has resulted in near accidents - if driving in stop and go traffic, the lurching results in my rapid acceleration while drivers ahead of me May be stopping. Also, when attempting to merge into traffic from a stop or slow roll, the pause results in needing to slow or stop to wait for a better entry opportunity, but at that same moment, the acceleration Kicks in. This is not performance that one would expect and is a less than optimal safety experience. I took the Jeep to the dealer for repair and their response was 'the tech said he drove a 2 door 2.0 liter over the weekend and it 'did the same thing', so it must be normal'. I stressed that not being an acceptable response to my request for assessment and repair. In response they 'flashed' the software, but that did not correct the problem and the vehicle continues to demonstrate the same issue.

I purchased this new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in late December of 2019. Approximately two years into ownership, rust began to appear along the frame welds. Roughly 2.75 years into ownership, this corrosion began to become very noticeable throughout the frame welds located underneath the vehicle. Many welds also feature small holes. In September of 2022 (33 months into ownership), I began to investigate the issue. I spoke with a local dealership and Jeep Customer Care via email, phone and in-person (I can produce the correspondence if needed). I was told by the dealership that I had 25 months left on corrosion warranty, but that it did not cover corrosion to the frame or suspension. I was also told that the holes are not an issue. I also contacted Jeep Customer Care several times (with photos) and received very little assistance. Jeep Customer Care also stated 25 months left on corrosion warranty, but that a dealership must diagnosis and state that it is a covered issue. Jeep refuses to further address the issue until the dealership does. The dealership has stated they will not, no matter how much I mention this appears to be a significant (and unsafe) defect. The dealership has since stopped communicating. A local body shop (unaffiliated with Jeep), upon inspecting the vehicle, stated that this Jeep should not be in this state of disrepair so early into its life. This vehicle does not feel safe given the severity and location of the corrosion/deterioration throughout the frame and suspension.

We started experiencing a problem with our clutch on our manual transmission 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport in December 2022. It felt like it would slip out of gear on its own, sounded like when someone first learns how to drive a manual and grinds the clutch. The dealer couldn't figure it out. Kept getting worse. Multiple trips back to the dealer. Mind you at the time this car was 3 1/2 years old and only had about 40,000 miles. Finally we found out there was a recall in February 2023, and the dealer told us there were no parts or no solution yet. This car is my wife's daily driver. I called the dealer back a couple months later, no update yet, Jeep "was working on it", hoped remedy would be available by end of June. Kept calling back every month or two, same story. I drove the car for the first time in a while in July and realized it was not safe to drive. Constantly slipping out of gear, couldn't get it going fast enough. Decided to read the recall again and realized it said it was a fire hazard. My dealer called and was told still no remedy, now they tell him hopefully end of Q3, so I asked the service manager to please get me into a loaner on Jeep. They did this. This is almost 2 months later, still no remedy. It's fantastic how Jeep can spend millions on fancy advertisements with Derek Jeter, yet because the people who own clutch vehicles are such a small percentage it seems our safety is not a priority. I can't believe a major car manufacturer has taken over 7 months knowing there is a safety issue and still no remedy.

STEERING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11252955

While driving vehicle home from dealership after purchase I noted a dead spot in the steering of about 3 to 4 inches where there is no steering response to movement of the steering wheel and the vechicle was dangerous to drive as it was extremely difficult to keep it in my lane. I have worked with Jeep cares and have opened 2 cases, 58775069, 59043175 and have been to 3 different dealerships trying to get this fixed. The 1ST 2 dealerships drove the vehicle on and stated there was no problem, this is how jeeps are designed. The 3RD dealership drove it with me in the car on the same type of roads I drive (2 lane country roads with no shoulder. They noted that the alignment was off and re-aligned the steering. This did help with the exteme swing the vehicle would take on its own into oncoming traffic or toward the shoulder but did nothing to resolve the 3" to 4" deadspot in the steering. I will be opening a 3RD Jeep cares case this week. This dead spot causes what I would call "driver induced oscillation" as minor of fine steering corrections are exaggerated with the 3" to 4" deadspot so you inadvertantly overcorrect and then have to re-correct the otherway again thru a 3" to 4" deadspot. The vehicle is a danger to myself and others on the road. Jeep seems to be trying to avoid the buyback or lemon law by stating there is no problem the vehcile is designed to have a 3" to 4" dead spot in the steering. The vehicle extremely difficlut to keep in its lane while driving on 2 lane country roads at standard road speeds of 35 to 50 miles per hour, with no shoulder.

So driving about 50-55mph, the dash lights lite up like a christmas tree. Everything from ABS, shifter lock, sway bar, airbags, traction control, aux battery and some other things that i can't remember. Engine lost power, power steering and unable to shift out of park. I took to my local dealer, I didn't buy it from them, and they diagnsoed the issue of a faulty ABS module. This module has been in the stage of "engineering" for over a year. I spent $900 on one ABS module that was available out of 5 in the US from another dealer and to get 20 minutes down the road only to have it happen again. The vehicle was at the dealer for 5 weeks. The new part was to become available on May20th. Two days ago the service manager called to tell me that they pushed the date to Aug 20th. This will be almost 2 years in this process with this part. The manager then proceeded to tell me it will probably be longer as Jeep went to a new vendor and it is redoing the part. I know of hundreds of other owners in the same boat. Jeep star techs say they can't diagnose past this part so I am paying on a big paper weight since November 23. I have started a case with Jeep customer care only for them to say they can't do anything financially or anything other than help expedite the issue. This is a lost cause as it is still being developed 2 years later. My GM of the dealership said he has 4-5 others at his lot in the same boat and a number of other owners with vehicles like myself at the house. I feel the need for someone to put pressure on the vendor to help with getting a recall on this situation.

I drove over a rough patch/bump in the road. A ton of warning messages and failure lights activated on the dash. In addition to the check engine light, there were warnings for electronic stability protection, sway bar disconnect, ABS failure, power steering failure, shift lever malfunction. In addition to these malfunctions a failures, the windshield wipers turned on un-commanded and the radiator fan went into the highest possible speed, the digital engine temperature gauge failed, and both the digital and analog speedometers failed. This happened on a arterial road, losing power steering and braking at ~30mph unexpectedly was a shock, but manageable. At highway speeds it likely would have led to an accident or collision. Unfortunately, I don't have any documentation of the failure lights and systems failing, but it had happened several times prior to this occurrence, albeit only with dash warning lights, no actual system failures. After the system failures, I stopped driving the vehicle. The problem appears to be somewhat widespread and is caused by a failing CAN-C BUS. A quick google search will reveal NUMEROUS descriptions on the same dangerous issue. This thread seems to clearly expIain the root of the issue with the CAN-C BUS: [XXX] I replaced my old CAN-C BUS (p/n 68321746AA) with a new part and it appears to have resolved the issue. I have saved the old CAN-C BUS for inspection if NHTSA is interested. It looks exactly like the failed BUS in the linked reddit thread above. I received the Rubicon on 12/8/19. Less than 2K pavement miles later, on 1/7/19 I experienced severe intermittent power steering failure. I left work at 6P, 40 degrees, no precipitation. After driving 1/5 mile, 10 MPH, I pulled to a stop to yield on to a 4 lane highway. After stopping briefly, I pulled onto the highway in very dense rush hour traffic only to find I had no power steering. I got two lanes over to the turning lane and pulled to a stop at the traffic light. The power steering came back on. When the light turned green, I turned left onto the highly traveled, extremely windy road. A couple hundred feet onto that road, driving 20 MPH, the power steering turned off again. I pulled into a housing development, turned the vehicle off, waited some time, then back on. I traveled through the development at 10 MPH and the power steering remained on. I turned back on to the main road, a few minutes later the power steering again turned off. The power steering continued to turn off and on for the next hour of driving 5 MPH to 50 MPH on windy roads that were filled with bumper to bumper traffic. The power steering turned off and on no matter what speed or what direction I was going. I got the vehicle to diehl dealership that evening. It is now 11 days later and they have still not performed any service on my vehicle. Jeep has not acknowledged the situation to my knowledge so diehl service is just guessing how to fix this life threatening situation. The Jeep was less than one month old when this happened. I am now paying for a 55K vehicle that I haven't had in my possession for almost two weeks.

Immediate Attention Required – Vehicle Left in Dangerous, Inoperable Condition by Krietz Auto Dealership in Frederick, MD. I am writing with extreme urgency to request your immediate attention and intervention regarding a critical issue involving Krietz Auto Dealership. I have been a loyal customer of Krietz Auto since I purchased my vehicle from them in 2020. Recently, I brought my truck in due to a loud noise coming from under the hood. I was told the rear differential needed to be replaced. To my knowledge, there were no other major issues at the time. After the dealership had my vehicle in their possession for over a month, I was shocked to receive it back in far worse condition. Upon picking up the vehicle, it could not idle without overheating. I attempted to drive home with my young child in the vehicle, only to realize it could not travel over 30 miles per hour without the temperature spiking dangerously high. Tragically, the vehicle has now completely broken down and is no longer drivable. I am being forced to have it towed to another repair shop at my own expense. What was originally a routine service appointment has now escalated into a situation that has left me without transportation and has put the safety of both myself and my child in serious jeopardy. This level of negligence is unacceptable. I trusted Krietz Auto with my vehicle and my family’s safety. I now fear the damage was either worsened or created during the time the vehicle was in their care. I am respectfully requesting that this situation be thoroughly investigated and immediately rectified. This is no longer just a service complaint — it is a matter of public safety and accountability.

RE: Safety Concern – Instrument Cluster Failure Consistent with NHTSA Recall 24V-652 Dear Sir or Madam: Regarding our 2019 jeep wrangler vin# Milage of 74602.9 on 3-22-26 We are writing to report a safety-related defect involving a 2019 Jeep vehicle exhibiting instrument cluster malfunction consistent with conditions described in NHTSA Recall No. 24V-652 (FCA US LLC). Although this vehicle is not currently included within the recall’s identified VIN population, it is exhibiting substantially similar symptoms, including: Intermittent loss of speedometer function Tachometer irregularities Intermittent or complete failure of the instrument cluster display Recall 24V-652 identifies a defect in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) which may result in loss of critical driver information. As recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, such failures may increase the risk of a crash due to the driver’s inability to accurately monitor vehicle speed and operating conditions. Given the similarity between the observed condition and the defect described in the recall, this raises a concern that the issue may extend beyond the currently defined VIN range. Accordingly, we request: A formal review of this vehicle for potential inclusion within Recall 24V-652 or any related service campaign; and Appropriate corrective action consistent with applicable safety and warranty obligations. We will also be submitting this matter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for further review. Please advise regarding next steps. The 48-Volt Lithium-Ion eTorque Hybrid Battery Pack (Mopar Power Pack Unit/PPU) on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited (~55K miles) failed. The failed component may be available on video by the dealership. Check engine light first appeared early XXX. Earliest dealership appointment was late August 2026. At that visit, dealer diagnosed DTCs P0A94 (recurring, including P0A94-03) and U0412, and performed a software update flashing the BPCM (Battery Pack Control Module) firmware from 05057870AN to 05057870AV per a Technical Service Bulletin. This was covered under warranty at no charge; vehicle was returned to me. Days later, the check engine light returned along with a battery warning light and additional indicators, including ABS among others I could not fully identify. The vehicle then lost power and stopped running while in the roadway, disabled in an active lane of travel — a safety hazard to myself and surrounding traffic. Vehicle was towed to the dealership XXX. On this second visit, the dealership attributed the failure to moisture exposure and corrosion at the PPU connector/harness, denied warranty coverage, and charged me $4,561.90. I received the repaired vehicle XXX. I opened a case with Stellantis Customer Care (Case #XXX) with case manager [XXX] to request a technical review of the failure and the warranty denial. [XXX] stated he contacted the dealership five times seeking information or resolution and received no response. He offered rental car reimbursement up to $50/day during the repair. 2019 Jeep Wrangler jl sport-steering issues I have had my 2019 jl a little over a year now and have been experiencing concerns with the steering since I drove it home. Being a first time Jeep owner, initially I thought maybe that was just the way it was supposed to drive. After a few months, it just didn't seem right to me that a brand new Jeep could be this sloppy in the steering. There is a ton of play in the steering wheel which means constantly over-correcting to stay in a lane. It is noticeable at all speeds but even more so at highway speeds. I find that I cannot take one hand off the wheel at anytime while on the highway because it can wander. This is an exhausting way to drive not to mention the constant bump steer that happens when going over any minor bump or highway overpass. It's nerve wracking driving in tight lanes on the highway and especially in construction zones. It's to the point that I honestly don't feel safe driving it and neither does my boyfriend. I have brought this up now at two different dealerships for a total of 5-6 times. The most recent response was, "that's just the nature of the beast". I'm sorry but that is not acceptable. The first dealership put my damper recall part in upside down and so I drove on an upside down part for 5 months before I experienced the death wobble on the highway. After that incident I took it to a different dealership who put in a new damper the correct way but still extreme looseness in the wheel and wandering all over the road. The most frustrating thing is that the dealership tells me there is nothing wrong with the Jeep and it's safe to drive yet there are 1,000'S of reports having the same steering issues as me. This is my second time opening a case with Jeep care however I'm not hopeful that they will help at all.

Filing this complaint regarding a known safety defect affecting my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport - specifically the steering damper column defect commonly referred to as "Death Wobble." ISSUE: My vehicle experiences violent and uncontrollable steering wheel oscillation when hitting bumps or road imperfections at highway speeds (typically above 55 mph). This phenomenon causes the entire front end to shake violently, requiring me to immediately slow down to regain control of the vehicle. This poses an extreme safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. I believe my vehicle has an issue with steering damper failure - the exact same defect addressed in Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 issued by FCA in June 2019. THE PROBLEM: While FCA issued CSN V41 covering approximately 192,000 2018-2019 Jeep Wranglers for steering damper defects, however my VIN was excluded from this notification despite experiencing the identical safety defect. FCA selectively applied the remedy to certain VINs rather than addressing all affected vehicles from these model years. SAFETY CONCERNS: This defect creates loss of vehicle control at highway speeds, significantly increasing crash risk. The NHTSA investigation (PE19-012) identified frame weld quality deficiencies and steering-related defects in 2018-2019 Wranglers affecting approximately 270,000 vehicles. Multiple investigations have documented steering looseness, steering wobble/shimmy, and loss of steering control in these model years. MANUFACTURER REFUSAL: Despite the known defect and my vehicle exhibiting the exact symptoms addressed in CSN V41, I believe once I take it in for service, Jeep will refuse to repair this safety issue under warranty, forcing me to bear the financial burden for a known manufacturing defect. REQUEST: I request NHTSA investigate why FCA limited CSN V41 to select VINs when the defect clearly affects a broader population of 2018-2019 Wranglers.

Fuel system failure

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11627666

We were exploring some remote mountain roads on Saturday 11/23/2024. The Jeep was running fine and nothing abnormal was observed. We stopped for lunch at an area with a nice view. We made sandwiches and took our time eating. After packing up, we jumped back into the Jeep to continue our journey. I started the Jeep and we immediately smelled fuel. I turned the Jeep off to investigate and found a large amount of fuel on the ground under the rear area of the engine. I had my wife start the Jeep again briefly to see where the gas was coming from. As soon as she started it, an ALARMING volume of fuel began to spray all over the exhaust and turbo. The high pressure fuel line from the gas tank to the high pressure fuel pump on the rear of the motor had ruptured and was dangerously spraying an enormous amount of fuel all over the rear driver side area of the engine bay. We were lucky in that we had stopped for lunch and the exhaust had cooled down and did not ignite the gas. We were unlucky because we were stranded in the backcountry with a vehicle that was inoperable. Fortunately, we were able to get the Jeep off of the mountain and back onto the trailer 5 hours after the incident and before dark. Had the timing of the failed fuel line been different, I could have been driving down the road or highway with a hot exhaust and the Jeep would have ignited and caught fire very quickly. What is even scarier to me is that I take my two toddlers to day care every day in this Jeep. Had a vehicle fire ignited with the amount of fuel that was spraying (and would have continued to spray if the Jeep was left on) would have engulfed the Jeep very quickly. Who knows if I would have been able to get both kids out of their car seats in time to save them. This is very dangerous! I know there have been many Jeep JLs that have caught fire. I have an example of the failure that is likely causing these fires! The part is available for inspection.

Powertrain / transmission failure

POWER TRAIN

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11511632

Clutch blew two holes through my transmission. I was driving home from skiing. Early that morning an error code came on stating my clutch was getting too hot. I was in stop and go traffic for like 15 min when it happened. I mostly kept my car in neutral and only used the clutch when I needed to move forward more than my car could roll on its own. Driving home from the mountain I was on the freeway when an emblem turned on with a Sterling wheel and and exclamation point. Right soon after that as I was getting off the freeway I downshifted to 3rd gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s so I shifted to 4th gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s so I shifted to 5th gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s so I shifted to 6th gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s and then I head a loud explosion and my car and I hurried and pulled over. I had two other cars pull over because they saw my car of fire. They yelled at me to get out of my car and then quickly checked everything and found the fire had put itself out. I had my 6 year old nephew in the car and I was worried about his safety if the car was on fire but also the safety of having his outside of the car on a major highway. We determined the car wasn’t at a full engulfed in flames risk so I kept him in the car. I then towed my car to the dealership who misdiagnosed it so I towed it to a clutch shop when showed me there were actually two holes through my transmission. My warranty wouldn’t cover it and the recall refused it because they had “don’t the recall” aka looked at it and did a software update and said that’s all the were required to do. I ended up finding a used transmission and was able to get that installed as well as a clutch. I was out of a car for 6 weeks and the emotional stress of being jerked around and not being helped when it’s clear with the recalls this is a huge issue that is getting ignored. The GM of the dealership is now involved and trying to help me get this solved.

STEERING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11720655

Since new Jeep has experienced "excess play in the steering" the Jeeps steering "wanders" and vehicle pulls to both the left and right. Steering wandering increases in hot temperatures and at higher speeds and becomes UNSAFE to operate the vehicle. When purchasing new, I noticed the "excess play in the steering", but was told by the Jeep salesperson that "that's how Jeeps drive" and "They do not drive like typical passenger vehicles". I did not take my Jeep in for service for this issue because the salesperson told me that this is how the vehicle is designed to drive. However, I recently found out that Jeep issued a Technical Service Bulletin #08-074-20 REV.B back on September 26, 2020 that addresses this issue of "excess play in the steering" and "wandering" and the TSB gives recommendations to fix the steering by installing a new and improved Steering Gear Box that is made from steel as opposed to aluminum. I took my Jeep into a Jeep dealership with regards to this issue. The Jeep dealership confirmed that I have the "old style" steering gearbox mentioned in Technical Service Bulletin #08-074-20 REV.B and recommended that I replace it with the new design as recommended by the TSB. I asked Jeep to repair by vehicle free of charge as this is a "known" issue on Jeep Wrangler JL 2018-2020 as described in the TSB, but Jeep refused to pay for the safetly modification to my steering, stating that I am "out of the warranty period". This is a KNOWN manufacture defect. Jeep installed inferior aluminum steering gear boxes on their Jeep Wrangler JL 2018-2020 and 2020 Jeep Gladiators and they have since upgraded that critical safety component to a "steel version." Jeep should without question issue a "recall" to fix all current Jeep owners 2018-2020 Wrangler JLs and 2020 Jeep Gladiators that have a faulty aluminum steering gear box and replace it with the upgraded steel version that fixes the "wandering steering" and "excess play in the steering".

About 2-2.5 months ago, our 2019 Jeep Wrangler completely stalled out at a stop light. At the time it stalled, the dash started flashing and gave me many warning lights. I was unable to put the transmission in park in order to try to start the vehicle again. After many attempts, I was finally able to place in park and start the vehicle. I then went thru a drive thru and it did the same thing and left me stranded in the drive thru lane without being able to start it for about 10 minutes. The next day, I was on my way to work and while traveling on the highway at 75 miles per hour, the vehicle stalled out, the dash wigged out and I lost all control of the vehicle including steering. The engine revved up to a higher RPM and I was unable to put it in neutral to try to slow it down and control the vehicle to a safe stop on the side of the highway. There were a couple of close calls with other vehicles due to the inability to control the steering or the engine speed. The next day, I took the Jeep to the dealership and when scanned for codes, there was over 150 codes including losing communication with the Body Control Module. Dealership test drove and the tech had the vehicle replicate the issues and leave him stranded 7 times in one day from and back to the shop. At this time, my concern is the safety of my family. For now it appears that the issue has been resolved, but there have been many similar instances reported with the same danger of crashing. Paperwork obtained from my dealership reflects there was a module that was replaced when the vehicle had less than 8,000 miles that was supposed to fix this issue, however it occurred to our jeep that had less than 25,000 miles on it. The paperwork also states "!!Attention!! This vehicle may have had 7 visits, 69 days down and 8 repeat repairs, service personnel should notify dealership service management and engage FCA service and parts resources." Doesn't this fall under the Lemon Law?

Follow on to last weeks initial input of case number 11257557 NHTSA # ref: VIN number [xxx] received a safety recall note to immediately come to a dealership and get the steering stabilizer fixed or replaced. (Note I didn't have any issue driving for the past 4 months until this recall note.) I did that (went to faricy boys Colorado springs dealership. They replaced a part or two.in approx. 2 hours. Next day drove it and it was a lot worse, I took it back to the same dealership.....they then replaced the steering box and the pitman arm. (Receipt attached) it took them 2 days to do that. I then drove it again.....it was a lot worse I pulled over on the road and looked underneath the vehicle. I noticed wet marks all over the parts under the vehicle as if something was leaking (pictures attached) I took it back again and again all they did was use a cleaner on the one section underneath and said all is good. I took more pictures of the issue and you can see more wet areas under the vehicle. I stated either they spilled something when they pulled the part or something was not tightened at this point causing the leaking now. They said all was good. The vehicle was smelling of something burning under the vehicle. I then took it to a vehicle cleaning service to get the whole undercarriage cleaned to stop the bad smell and de-greased the complete underneath of the vehicle. Today again the vehicle is driving (wandering as driving on the road) I took another video again because of the way it was wondering and pulled into the right lane as I am driving ....totally unsafe to drive at this moment. The dealership stated today...there is nothing else we can do for the vehicle. Stated by cory tidwell service department. I tried to contact [xxx] the service dept manager no luck. Then tried to contact [xxx] general manager. No call information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (FOIA), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *Tr

The problem occurs in my 2019 Jeep Wrangler, suddenly, typically after hitting a small bump or uneven section of pavement at around 60–70 mph. The entire front end begins to shake violently, and the steering wheel jerks rapidly back and forth, making it extremely difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. The only way to stop the shaking is to brake hard and slow down below 50 mph, which creates a dangerous situation. This violent steering vibration causes loss of directional stability and could easily lead to an accident if it happens in traffic or during lane changes. The sensation is so severe that it feels as if the front suspension or wheels are coming loose. I brought my Jeep to Wallace Jeep in Stuart, Florida where the technicians confirmed steering instability but stated that the steering damper is covered but the steering gear is not covered under warranty. I also contacted Jeep Cares, case # [XXX], and was told that Jeep “does not have to cover” my vehicle, even though it falls directly within the affected 2018–2020 Wrangler JL range identified in the [XXX]. v. FCA US LLC class action settlement related to the Death Wobble. The dealership’s refusal contradicts Jeep’s own Technical Service Bulletin 08-074-20 REV. E (“Improved Steering Feel”), which addresses steering wander, pull, and excessive play by replacing the steering gear and updating the EHPS software — exactly the symptoms I’m experiencing. This is a serious safety issue that occurs without warning and has not been resolved through the repairs or coverage Jeep has offered. The manufacturer’s denial of responsibility despite a known defect leaves drivers at risk of losing control at highway speeds. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate and require Jeep/Stellantis to expand the recall or provide full coverage for all steering-related components contributing to this dangerous condition. Instrument Panel Cluster Failure: My instrument cluster failure has been an unrepairable issue for my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara which I purchased from Marysville Jeep in Marysville, Washington back in 2021 or 2022. It's been well over at least a year that I have been forced to drive this vehicle where I am unable to know my fuel level, mileage, or speed. I have had my Jeep at the West Hills Autoplex, Chrysler/Jeep Dealership, Auto Center Way, Bremerton, Washington, TWICE for this very same instrument panel cluster failure, and to date, it remains UNREPAIRED. My vehicle is at the same dealership NOW as we speak and has been there since 23 April 2025. I have not had the use of my Jeep for the duration of this time. The time before that, they had my Jeep for about 2 weeks and did not repair the instrument cluster. My associate at the dealership name is Colin. He's constantly informing me that they ordered the cluster but they have not received it because my vehicle was made in Canada. I also saw online that a recall has been issued for certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles, including the Sahara, due to potential instrument panel cluster failure. The recall number is 30B. I looked for this recall using my VIN on the NHTSA website, but it showed no recalls for my particular vehicle. However, I have this exact same problem with my Sahara. Colin informed me on 5 June 2025 that he has exhausted his last avenue to figure out why my Jeep still has a failed instrument panel that has not been repaired/replaced since 23 April 2025 and to basically come pick up my jeep or call someone else to help remedy this issue. Colin's phone number is (360)429-0384. He also gave me numerous dates that the new cluster was to arrive at the dealership, but to no avail. Also, in between the two times at the dealership, I took it to a repair shop who tried to order the cluster but could not get it, because the dealership is the only entity that can order the cluster. Thank you!

The 48V eTorque Power Pack Unit (PPU), BPCM, and associated cables failed on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler, causing the vehicle to stall and lose all acceleration while driving on the highway. All components are available for inspection upon request. In June 2025, a non-Jeep service center identified stored diagnostic code P0A9C-00 (48V hybrid battery temperature sensor circuit performance failure) along with multiple low voltage codes in the power steering system. The technician noted the issue needed to be addressed by an authorized Jeep dealer, as there was insufficient information to perform a repair on the 48V hybrid system. In September 2025, while driving on the highway, the engine stalled and the vehicle completely lost acceleration and would not restart. The vehicle required towing to an authorized Jeep dealer. A sudden and unexpected loss of acceleration and engine stall on a highway creates an extreme risk of rear-end collision and potential serious injury or fatality to the driver and other motorists. The problem was confirmed by an authorized FCA/Jeep dealer who found the same diagnostic code P0A9C-00, along with corrosion buildup on the 48V connector pins and BPCM pins. Two separate FCA STAR cases were opened by the dealer. The Power Pack Unit Battery was identified as the failed component. The dealer confirmed that the 48V cables required for repair are currently unavailable through Chrysler under any parts specifier, meaning FCA cannot supply the necessary parts to remedy this known defect. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized FCA dealer on two separate occasions nine months apart, with the defect remaining unresolved on both visits due to FCA parts unavailability. Warning symptoms including low voltage codes and the P0A9C-00 fault code were first identified in June 2025, approximately three months before the highway stall event, indicating this was a progressive and worsening defect. The issue was first reported in June 2025 and remains unrepair

VEHICLE & INCIDENT: 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL 2.0L Turbo. While climbing an extended grade on Hwy 87, vehicle experienced a sudden sluggish throttle anomaly and rapid coolant temperature spike from ~215F to 255F under load. Vehicle was pulled off and shut down within ~20 seconds. SUSPECTED FAILURE MODE & UNDERHOOD FIRE: Upon opening the hood, pressurized coolant had sprayed across the engine bay from a split in the smaller rubber hose branch of the engine coolant outlet assembly (Mopar PN 68280797AC). The hose split longitudinally ~13mm with the center ~32mm from the hose end. The vehicle is equipped with a Baja Designs T-Fitting to replace 68280784A The hot, pressurized coolant sprayed directly onto the exposed, center section of the turbocharger between the compressor and turbine sections and on the turbine section itself. The coolant is suspected to have flash-ignited on contact with the turbo, creating an active under hood fire that began spreading to the hood insulation liner. The fire was successfully doused roadside with water, preventing a total vehicle burn-down. No other fuel sources were noted and the lines to the turbocharger were intact and did not show evidence of a leak. SAFETY CONCERN / HAZARD FOR NHTSA: 1. FIRE HAZARD: Pressurized factory coolant hoses and plastic junctions on the 2.0T GMET4 are routed in close proximity to the unshielded turbine housing. A hose rupture under normal grade-climbing thermal loads results in high-pressure atomized coolant hitting an ignition source well above its auto-ignition point. 2. COMPONENT DEGRADATION: Rubber lines near the engine outlet appear susceptible to heat-fatigue failure under high ambient/high load conditions, posing a sudden fire hazard at highway speeds. REPAIR: Roadside trim/re-clamp of the split hose allowed temporary transit. Replacing full hose assembly (68280797AC), upgrading radiator lines, and performing a full OAT coolant flush/vacuum refill. No oil contamination was noted after the incident.

I am filing this complaint regarding a known safety defect affecting my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (VIN: [XXX] ) - specifically the steering damper column defect commonly referred to as "Death Wobble." ISSUE: My vehicle experiences violent and uncontrollable steering wheel oscillation when hitting bumps or road imperfections at highway speeds (typically above 55 mph). This phenomenon causes the entire front end to shake violently, requiring me to immediately slow down to regain control of the vehicle. This poses an extreme safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. DIAGNOSIS: A certified mechanic has diagnosed my vehicle with steering damper failure - the exact same defect addressed in Customer Satisfaction Notification V41 issued by FCA in June 2019. THE PROBLEM: While FCA issued CSN V41 covering approximately 192,000 2018-2019 Jeep Wranglers for steering damper defects, my VIN was arbitrarily excluded from this notification despite experiencing the identical safety defect. MANUFACTURER REFUSAL: Despite the known defect and my vehicle exhibiting the exact symptoms addressed in CSN V41, Jeep/Stellantis refuses to repair this safety issue under warranty, forcing me to bear the financial burden for a known manufacturing defect. REQUEST: I request NHTSA investigate why FCA limited CSN V41 to select VINs when the defect clearly affects a broader population of 2018-2019 Wranglers, and mandate a comprehensi INFORMATION REDA
